Spotted this in the parking lot where I work, in west-central Kansas. My research says it is a Black-bellied Whistling Duck. I can confirm its call is a whistle. Shortly after I snapped this its partner showed up and they flew away.

Of all the things that would surprise 1980s me (when I was in college and graduate school), I think the fact that today, large numbers of *Republicans* and *conservatives* are openly pro-Russian would have to rank at the very top.

Some of the best chicken I've had. Unfortunately, they did not survive the pandemic after decades in business.

I'm sure it has been there for years, but I never noticed what this sign says until this weekend.

I wasn’t going to react. But I am:
Kyle Rittenhouse
—went to a city he did not live in (Kenosha);
—in a state he did not reside in (Wisconsin);
—carrying a weapon he was not legally entitled to possess (an AR-15);
—to protect property that was not his, or anyone he knew;
—and killed two men and wounded a third in “self-defense” when he was confronted.
Which was apparently just fine.
The militia movement has won. Armed people get to kill unarmed people who are scared of the militia’s guns. And the Supreme Court seems poised to enhance gun rights in America.
Because they seem to think we need more of this.
We’re effed. Completely, utterly effed.
