This'll be long and all over the place because I took a very different direction with gposing this years and it's been very uh educational. Learned to use posing tools less than a year ago and it's really given our characters more life and made a world of difference. Old embarrassing screenshots incoming.. (but the point here is to show ~Growth~ and I hope it motivates you to keep improving too. and push through all the bugs and that existential ennui hit when your game crashes before youve taken a single screenshot ;-;)

Random sentimental observations first, going through old folders..

My gurl aged. But the older she got the happier we both were. We discovered ✨boundaries✨ together.

Her fem elezen Era of 2013-2014 had a bit of both Gabriel & Theneras in her. Nerdy elf and grumpy elf were always there. Never realized. (also apparently we've always had that annoying light/shadow shimmer effect and it's not just a post DT lighting thing)

Apparently I've been wearing the same outfit since 2018. Sometimes you just put on a hat and your character says Yup. That's me. Forever. You'll just have to find a way to squeeze under. (sorry for +6 years of clipping, sweetie, but it was your gift and I'm never taking it off)

Gabriel and @pocketyoukai's Yuusei were besties since 2016 before they were RP characters. and he'll always be a loving doting dad retainer to her sister.

2020- Goose & Amalthea were girlfriends before we realized they were girlfriends. The ship sailed itself.

2018: discovered GIF making. Tried to put it to good use..

…but I just kept making shitposts. which didn't last long thankfully.

..And I'm glad it was short-lived, because when I focused more on telling stories through gposing, especially this past year, it's like my brain got rewired to view this world differently, through the eyes of a little sprout again. If I was going to use screenshots only and no words, I had to take shots/gifs of different things to set my scene and experiment with angles I wouldn't otherwise have considered (and fail 50% of the time and try something else. timing is so tricky😭)

..not to mention, when you're thirsty and need to work around censorship you also get creative with angles and visual subtext

It's 10x more fun and rewarding, albeit challenging especially if you don't want to use any crime tools. But doable. And just as fun and rewarding. And I want to do more of this (and fail and keep experimenting) next year and see you tell more of your stories your way too. and be inspired by and fall in love with your characters.

..I was very much 100% vanilla, as in not even shaders, until early 2020. And started using posing tools about a year ago. When you say "your characters have more character!" (you know who you are) I know exactly what you mean now and that makes me very emotional ;-; it really wasn't the case until less than a year ago. a lil criminal activity goes a long way.

Also vanilla kisses were so hard to gpose and turned out so funny. Note to self never to /puckerup for kisses. ever. But we did our best and learned a lot. A ton more kissing next year for sure.

Yes, she had to speak in truths, couldn’t tell a lie but that didn’t mean she couldn’t skirt around the truth when she didn’t want to tell it. And she had done exactly that to Theneras. He was exactly the type who would run off recklessly from her experience. Maybe she was judgemental for doing that but she wasn’t going to have someone dies just because she was irresponsible with what she shared from her readings.

She had gone to the brewed awakening to get a drink after a long journey. What she had not expected was Theneras to be there. Was she shitting herself? Only slightly, he might not have figured out she hid the truth, he may not even remember her face. She took a swing of her drink for hoping he didn’t know. Nylathria made room at the bar for him “the honey ale is to die for. You should give it a try.” Maybe if she talked about the alcohol it would distract the other.

“Can I tell you a secret,” Theneras whispers softly, wide heather eyes staring unfocused across the snowy landscape of Haven. “Sometimes I think about running away. That’s selfish, isn’t it? I’m the only one who can seal these rifts, who might be able to fix all of this, but sometimes…” the elf shakes their head. “I feel like I’m fading. Like they’re slowly erasing me. Like nobody cares who I am, what I feel, what I think, if it doesn’t suit whatever narrative they’ve decided upon. They’re calling me the ‘Herald of Andraste’ now. Me. I’d almost rather they go back to calling me a knife-ear. At least then I’d know they still see me as an elf. But I’m just supposed to go along with it, let them call me the messenger of some god’s bride I don’t even believe in, let them rewrite my story so we can gather enough allies and forces to fix the blasted hole in the sky.”

“I thought maybe if I could just close the rift at the temple that would be it. Maybe they’d realize it wasn’t my doing. Maybe eventually they’d let me go. Instead, I wake up three days later and every Shem for miles is staring at me, whispering about me, calling me the Herald or a heretic. I keep hoping I didn’t wake up, that I’m still asleep. This certainly feels like a nightmare,” the elf admits with a frown, glancing sideways at the wolf seated beside them who is studiously licking his paws clean after his meal. Theneras sighs, gently running her fingers through the beast’s thick coat, scratching a little behind each ear.

“Keep out of sight,” the elf cautions, stroking beneath their chin with a smile as the wolf lifts their gaze to meet theirs. “These Shems are all on edge and I wouldn’t trust their hunters to recognize you’re special. I’d tell you to keep out of trouble, but I think we both know how futile that would be,” Theneras chuckles softly, “Just be smart and don’t get caught,” she smiles, standing up and brushing the snow from her knees and turning their eyes towards Haven with a heavy sigh. “Back to it then.”

Haven't really decided on her personality, but that thought just sticks. She just loves them, homie.

I'll have a full post up here sometime, because I don't think I could possibly have been more emotionally devastated by my specific Veilguard playthrough than I was.

But I will say: I played a Dalish Veil Jumper spellblade with Falon'Din vallaslin, and during the entire last 3 hours of the game, I was just thinking of this:

Elgar'nan, Wrath and Thunder, Give us glory. Give us victory, over the Earth that shakes our cities. Strike the usurpers with your lightning. Burn the ground under your gaze. Bring Winged Death against those who throw down our work.

Sobbing. My stomach in knots.

🌊What is a phobia of theirs?

🐹What "pet" names do they like being used for them? {Babe, Kitten, Puppy, Mutt, etc.}

Theneras:

🐹Pet Names: Though he’s always doling out pet names, for him nothing comes anywhere close to the sound of his own name on Fyr’s lips. Since childhood, he had been given a title as is customary for the children of the Everlasting Dark, and even after he escaped, the title seemed to stick, so no one had called him by his name all that often. Hearing it invoked in his ear (well, his Source surrogate’s ear) by his lover like a prayer, way across the aetherial sea in another world, is really the deepest form of intimacy he’s ever felt. Fyr, of course, found that out very quickly and has been capitalizing on it since. It’s so effective it’s annoying sometimes (for Gabriel, the aforementioned surrogate.)

for 🌊phobias, not sure if it counts? if phobias need to be irrational? but a very legit very rational fear of his would have to be his tribe's mother/abuser. She's the main source of 99% of his nightmares, why he was afraid to sleep for a good chunk of his childhood (also very rational. The chemically-induced nightmares were real visions of past rejoinings) and why he can't be rid of the Children for good.

🐹Pet Names: Theneras seems to call him things the meaning of which is lost on him (and anyone outside that particular elf tradition) and he just goes with it. But at least when Fyr starts hearing things like vhenan and ar lath ma vhenan pour out of a breathless Gabriel, he knows he’s doing something right. He took it as the high praise it was, and it was enough to tickle the slight praise kink he never knew he had. Over time he developed a sort of pavlovian response to them and now they’re just as effective on him regardless of meaning.

🐹Pet Names: Her wife is a minimalist with her language as with everything else, so she keeps it pure and simple: My love. and Yasu would have it no other way. They’ve been together the longest (15 years) and although Yasu's accumulated many sundry pet names for her wife, like little jade, dango, dustbunny (Yuu has a family of spriggans) when it comes to intimate moments, “love” is really the one that stood the test of time.

🌊Phobias: It's very subtle, but if she finds herself in closed spaces with no doors nearby she'll get particularly irritable. It may or may not explain the weird half-covered door frames lying against random walls in her cave, presumed to be decorative (one has a butterfly symbol on the frame, for instance).

Kewywords: Knowledge and Truth

Her name is a word play on the elvhen word for the Fade, Setheneran. Her mother jokingly claimed her name is actually just "Fade Fade" because she was working on translating some texts on the subject and couldn't come up with anything else.

Although she grew up hearing all the stories of her ancestors she holds no particular reverence for the Elvhen pantheon, from her studies she learned quickly that power corrupts more often than not and also understands the oral tradition of the Dalish must be full of holes as much as it must be riddled with creative license.

The things she’s learned from the Fade and the varied accounts of historical events have pushed her to question everything and search for the truth by herself as she feels she can’t trust anyone else with it. Every person, every faction and nation have their own version and truth shouldn’t have “versions”.

She has more notebooks than she can remember yet she can't stop herself from getting more, and she often writes on whichever is closer at hand at the moment inspiration strikes; recollecting her notes from several of them is a complex and time consuming event for which she has to clear a whole week's schedule.

When the opportunity to witness history as it unfolds - rather than having to read about it later- is presented to her, she jumps right in.
