Why is c.ai bad? Like genuine question

One of the main reasons you will see people giving as to why c.ai is bad is that much like all "generative" ai it's basically a copy/paste machine. The algorithm that runs c.ai is made by scraping the writing of millions of human authors in order to train the machine on how sentences and "romance" should be structured in order to appeal to the people using it. This is, by and large, just straight up plagiarism and authors like @/ceilidho end up having their content stolen by c.ai users in order to farm more bots.

If you don't care about the plagiarism aspect of c.ai bots then you should care about the environmental aspect of them. ChatGPT alone uses about 2.9 Wh of electricity just to run a single query, and the water used to cool the servers (again for just one question) is equal to about 3 16 oz bottles of water. Google reported their greenhouse gas emissions rose 50% in 5 years just due to ai use. 1 query can power a lightbulb for about 20 seconds, and every question is routed through a data center which uses even more electricity to answer the question. So you sending a chat to c.ai uses a massive amount of electricity, and for the bot to respond takes even more.

Not to mention data centers have to be built, which consumes a lot of resources and energy, and releases a lot of greenhouse gases. Then they have to be powered, which consumes more energy and more water, and releases even more greenhouse gases.

If 1 in 10 working US Americans asked 1 question every week for a year (52 x 17 million) that would use the same amount of energy that it would take to power EVERY HOUSEHOLD IN WASHINGTON DC (671,803) for 20 days. NPR reported on this as an "energy emergency" this is an unprecedented and explosive amount of energy being used very suddenly, very often, and by a lot of people.

Ok you don't care about that either, then let me appeal to you the person who uses c.ai. Maybe you love your favorite author's work and you really want to rp with one of their characters. Is the bot's ability to write that character really as good as the author's? Is it as satisfying? Or are you just caught up in the short-term dopamine rush of the rp?

Because I tried c.ai when it was first getting popular and let me tell you, it was nowhere near as good as the human role plays I was used to. There was no riffing, no plotting out where we wanted the rp to go, no standard reply length, I had to retry replies multiple times to get something even remotely close to something I could work with to respond to. There were filters, I couldn't use certain words or phrases. The bot couldn't remember anything past a few replies. It was BAD. The shot of dopamine I got after the first reply was gone by the time I was on the third one.

Now maybe I was just spoiled by good human rp partners, but I kept seeing people on tiktok complaining about the same problems. "How to break the c.ai filter" was a major issue. People wanted the experience of role playing or writing a fic, but they didn't want to put the effort into actually doing either of those things.

"Just let people enjoy things!" I hear you cry.

You go on c.ai because you're lonely, or bored, or because you think that finding a human to rp with is too hard or they won't like your scenario/kink/whatever. You are actively contributing to the expulsion of artists from fandom spaces and the destruction of the planet in equal measure. If all you care about is short term gratification, then go on the r/IWishIWasHer subreddit and read the rps threads there. If you actually want to roleplay with someone there are a million discord servers that do that. Hell, there are communities on tumblr that you could join and ask about roleplaying!

Relying on instant gratification will numb you to all the joys that creep towards you. If the only thing you can see is the object in front of you, then you're never going to reach for something better further away.

Not to mention none of your chats on c.ai are actually private, the server is scraping all your responses to have the ai send to other people. So if you're telling the bot some real smutty/embarrassing things that you wouldn't want anyone else to see, congrats on everyone else getting a piece of it.

TLDR: Freddy gets in a fight with baby, badly injured, thrown out, taken in by Jeff’s Pizza when it was a bit more popular, kids climb on him daily and eventually break his arm off, bonbon falls into ballpit and freddy can’t find him. he gets thrown out again because kids have trashed him. a few years pass while he’s stuck in the junkyard and bonbon is unconscious in the ballpit world in the past. Considering one of bonbon’s functional purposes on funtime freddy being a lookout (bonbon is described as “parental tracking/360 pivot” on freddy’s blueprints.) I think he’d use that to help Oswald and act as a lookout, keeping track of where threats are and informing him when one’s coming closer and from what direction. he would try to trick him sometimes out of pure mischief though.

also i think bonbon himself probably wouldn’t have that “kill kids when they’re alone” programming just because he’s so small so he wouldn’t get the job done quickly, he would probably only tell freddy “hey nobody’s around, get that kid” so with freddy not even there he isn’t much of a threat to Oswald unless he chooses to be.

AAANYWAY how bonbon got in the ballpit ❤️ keep in mind a lot of this is entirely from my brain. at this point we’re getting into “entirely canon divergent” levels of AU so be warned

i thought it would be funny if freddy and cb got into a fight and cb just beat the shit out of him. based on 2 things: 1. the fight when they kicked baby out of the ennard hivemind and 2. a roblox rp i was in 😭😭 LOLL it wasn’t a serious rp (at least not on my end, i think the person playing CB was being for real) but it was so funny i loved it

SO anyway i figured the only reason they were able to beat baby was because it was all the funtimes working together and because they were kind of all equally distributed in ennard. i think if it was just funtime freddy trying to fight circus baby he would 100% lose she’s like a foot taller than him

so freddy gets his shit rocked, and management is like “we’re done with this guy he sucks” and throws him out. Jeff’s Pizza picks him up like “hell yeah weird mascot thing” and puts him in the ballpit room to stand there and let kids climb on him. eventually because he’s still pretty broken his arm breaks off from the weight of a bunch of kids hanging on it and it falls into the ballpit. later on he goes looking for his arm and bonbon and can’t find either of them.

the pizza place ends up throwing him out because the kids are just trashing him and he ends up in the junkyard where millie’s grandpa finds him years later. I’d imagine in that time he would become an urban legend of sorts, wandering around looking for things nobody can find, and taking the life of the occasional kid who’s out past their bedtime. He’d become more jaded and cynical instead of his former silly self during this time too.

I'm glad my rambling helped made a new au idea :). I really don't know the Spanish streamers as well as sapnap, so I wouldn't want to make any au's when I don't know their personalities as much as I would like. I already talked about farfa a bit so I got some other thoughts. (Sorry in advance for blasting all these thoughts in your inbox lmao.)

Here's just some endearing thoughts about team mafia interactions that I've gotten from Sapnap's streams. A big one is conter honestly believing sapnap is better at Spanish than sylvee. Like everyone says it, but conter just believe it. Idk if it's because he's memeing about it or his favoritism blinds him but either way it's cute how proud he sounds when he's like "Your so good at Spanish, you get and A+!" (Poor sylvee got a B. I know she definitely understands Spanish better, but sapnap definitely has better pronunciation.) That whole interaction with conter/sylvee/sapnap/aquino was gold. I think conter just grew to love sapnap overtime and it definitely helps that he speaks English better than most of the mafia. Him being a tall guy with a bright green skin, and acting like a big brother probably gives him dejuvu (Sapnap's favorite that he says outloud)

Pirutastic loves sapni so much. Bro's always like "I love you sapni!" He's just consistently hyping him up and when he called sapnap the best Argentinan player when he was watching day 3 squidcraft clips it was so cute.

Serpias obviously another one of the big sapolos. Who also lost money to sapnap technically during the house of nightmares, but sapnap just happened to click him or else it would have been someone else lmao. He just loves his dumb rp boyfriend, and he's always ready to defend him.

Spreen's English getting progressively better throughout dedsafio was just so awesome. He was already good with being good friends with Karl, but I could tell throughout dedsafio he definitely got a better grasp on some words, and I just really liked seeing two different people learning languages better. (Spreen's english is def better than sapnap's spanish) Spreen being one of the people to defend sapnap when someone accused him of cheating during hunt and run was something I always remembered. He definitely has a good opinion of sapnap, and I think dedsafio definitely endeared him a lot more. With him wanting to dance with sapnap in the corner with his music, and just finding him funny was great to see. Both of them being gambling addicts is something to bond over I guess lmao.

Cris... I honestly don't know him that well, but I did love his video with sapnap. It was really funny, and it probably endeared sapnap to him at least a little bit.

Goncho is always getting playfully bullied by sapnap, but he even missed it on the last day of squidcraft and asked conter to do it. That was really cute, and I think he really appreciated it when sapnap helped him. With the team goncho had, thank fucking God that sapnap helped him. The people on the team were freaking out.... just a little bit. Poor goncho.

Sramilcar, I think really got endeared after the burping match with sapnap. I think he definitely liked him before, but sapnap just doing that with him definitely helped. He even made that meme and replied to sapnap about having another burping contest later. (Even though that shit almost made me puke with the sounds, it's the thought that counts lmao)

I do remember silithur would interact with sapnap sometimes, but I don't have any big ones of the top of my head. I do think it's cute when sapnap calls him sili during the dedsafio.

Shadoune just loves that gringo, and I remember he was really happy when George called and asked him to team with dteam irl at twitchcon. That whole trip to Spain it think is what got shadoune to love sapnap and dteam as much as he does. Sapnap is definitely his favorite for obvious reasons lmao. (Sapnap's actual favorite lol.)

I need to stop before I write a damn novel, but just things that have been bouncing around in my brain. Love those mafia boys even if I only understand like 10% of what their saying.

What are some of your favorite character relationships/dynamics in TMNT, and why? Is there anything that you particularly like seeing explored with them in fan works (art, writing, comics, etc)?

What I really love is the exploration of family bonds, especially in the last two show iterations for 2012 and 2018. The original 198something one didn't really seem to dip too much into it, from what I remember, anyway, and only in hindsight do I realize they didn't really seem very teenagerish either, or at least that aspect just seemed lost to me. It's been a bajillion years and I know I never watched its entirety. Not even touching the comics realm- no idea what's going on there.

I completely missed 2003, but 2012's version was the first one that made it clear that they were- aside from being mutants trained as ninja in the sewers by a rat father- teenagers who loved each other but also could be annoyed at each other and mad at each other, tease and fight but still remember who they are to each other by the end of things. I'll tell you now, I've never been a big romance-oriented person and I don't think those relationships in that show really added much to anything. Funny at times, amusing, yes, but that seemed to be about it. Friendship bonds can be just as strong and meaningful!

Where 2012 dipped into relations between the brothers, 2018 pushed it further. The lads were mostly on their own due to a negligent father, although this new aspect of Splinter was refreshing and I love the idea of all of them basically trying to find their way around things and this nebulous duty bound to their family. I love that April's become more of a big sister to them and still shares some bond even with Splinter, similar to 2012's for the whole master and student angle. I think her relationship with Donnie is a fun one, her go-to for technical issues, for hanging out and homework checks, but she's not afraid to speak her mind and set the boy right when his brain is working too much.

The layers and directions they take with each character just makes it a fun mix when they throw everything together. I love that they don't even outright hate the villains and some of the villains don't even know why they hate the turtles but hey! We'll fight 'em just cuz! Ahaha, these poor kids. I do have to add that I'm also glad that no one's overly lamented about the fact that they've been mutated in this show except for poor Splinter at first, but all the villains basically kinda vibe with it like 'oh, I guess this is how my life is now /shrug'.

I like Raph's self-instated role as the oldest to be the protector, and how he especially looks after Donnie when things get sweaty. Or tries to, anyway, look- his heart's in the right place, even if half the time he ends up smashing his squishy brother by accident. I like the competition that goes on between Mikey and Leo, whether it's just at who's better or who's right, it's a fun dynamic. Of course I love Leo and Donnie antics too, and even though there aren't too many, the implications that they have dove into many a hair-brained scheme is just too funny. ...just going to go through all of them I guess. I'M SORRY, THIS GOT SO LONG AGH Right, Mikey and Donnie, a classic team-up, I love that they support each other so much, and the chaos they can get up to. Even funnier, I love that they actually succeed most of the time. And then Mikey and Raph's little bro vs oldest bro dynamic, which is in a way the same as Leo and Raph in that they can see eye-to-eye and get along, but when they clash, they clash hard. Classic.

When it comes to fanworks, I just like to see more of what was set up in the shows and the movie, but I also like being pleasantly surprised by wild and creative takes now and then. It's like... the reason I RP a character is to get more story, to see how so-and-so goes through and deals with this situation or another, the friends and enemies they might make in a different setting or opportunity. Fanart has glimpses of such things, fanfics and comics explore them in depth. Y'all are amazing, for the record, just saying.

HAHA YEAH I BLOCKED THE CROW AND CAYDE RP BLOGS. You probably know the ones. The ones that were saying they were 6' 2" or 6' 3"? Mighta been 6' 3" and 6' 4". I have no problem with people hcing characters as various heights but I mean, if you're going to actually pretend to be the character,, at least follow what they look like canonically? Joke rp accounts are fine but like you if you're going to take the best blog name and mostly seriously rp you should probably keep to the character as closely as you can if you want to feel convincing. No hate to whoever is running those blogs but come on. you didn't even have proof. you just made Cayde jump in and back Crow up smdh. (Not sure if it's by the same person or not, they might be separate ppl, but still.) yes this is petty. It's honestly a pet peeve of mine when people take characters and try to make them conventionally attractive. No Uldren is not tall. Crow isn't tall. I've seen ppl talk about Crow's ass and how he's got cake and in the photo was like the most average man-ass I've ever laid eyes on (this made me laugh but still). It's okay for a character to not check all the boxes of conventional beauty. And Uldren is quite attractive as is? Uldren is athletic, but he isn't ripped.

As seen here, thanks to his stupidly tight jumpsuit, you can see he’s quite slender and well built- but nothing super shredded. Not to mention his chest plate makes his chest and shoulders appear larger than they actually are. We also have to remember that his design isn’t one of a sexy villain- he really wasn’t supposed to be physically imposing. He was not much more than an annoyance, a snobbish man who turned up his nose at us- and we forgot about him until Forsaken- where once again it wasn’t like he was physically imposing. Everything he did was through his “children” or he finished off their work. (Mind you this is a repurposed design that was initially for a character akin to Han Solo- a gunslinging vagabond type. I can’t imagine a character like that being super tall or insanely muscular. I doubt they would have changed much with his height for his forsaken design either)

It’s just. Odd to me to be in vehement denial. Beyond that it’s a case of do whatever you want forever but yeah… I think part of it is people just don’t seem to realize how tall 6’ 2” and beyond really is if you’re not from the Netherlands or something. They forget what a normal tall person would look like too- like yeah a lot of D2 characters tend to hover around 6 feet so I understand it to a degree- but 6’ 3”? 6’ 4”?? Uldren and Crow have never looked particularly large either … Crow looked quite “small” (and was called skinny quite a bit) compared to a lot of his counterparts- including the guardian. 5’ 10” is not short by any means but it’s obvious that he’s not meant to be a big guy.

It kinda drives me crazy?? Idk man like I love design changes that add more to the character, not ones that shove them into a box for the sake of conventional beauty. I draw Crow/Uldren as shorter (and Crow chunkier) so that might be my bias speaking lol- but idk it just feels like a disservice to the character in a sense to essentially hide away an aspect of them to make them “prettier” that proceeds to just put them into a common design trope. I honestly want more experimentation with Uldren/Crow’s design than what I see but that’s just a me thing

one of the things i most admire about aven is the creativity that he exhibits in everything that he writes on the dash, whether it's ic content or meta on his characters. i appreciate anyone who shows real confidence and conviction in the approach that they take to writing their muses, i feel like that's such a rare thing to find in the tumblr sphere, and there have been so many occasions where i will pause my scrolling of the dash to read his meta, no matter how long it is, and, in doing so, gain a newfound appreciation for a character that i hadn't really thought about or considered before. his willingness to throw together unexpected dynamics too ( especially between characters who would likely never meet in canon, though i will keep my delusions that one day itto & furina will meet in an event ) is also something that i love, particularly as someone who very much enjoys doing the same thing.

lauri is such a fun person both to talk to and plot with, i still remember how we threw vautrin & furina together oh so casually at the start and then very quickly spiralled into realising that they had so much in common that this would be anything but a casual dynamic, instead we had a god-tier friendship on our hands, and that is honestly the mood for pretty much every single dynamic that we have talked about since then lmao. lauri is another one of those people that i know i can come to with the wildest, most unexpected dynamic imaginable and he will absolutely run with it alongside me, and throwing those sorts of ideas back and forth is truly a joy.

honestly the minute that charlie revived their jack rackham blog and we got talking about black sails, i knew i'd found an absolute gem in the rp community and they have continued to prove me right ever since. i very much need to bother them more with my genshin & hsr muses, but plotting out an entire crossover verse between black sails and genshin that not only makes complete sense but also allows us to write some wild dynamics ( jack rackham and navia declaring rebellion on the court of fontaine ? something i never knew i needed in my life ) that i absolutely adore. i also love how chill they are, the way that we can dip in and out of writing and plotting but still be just as enthusiastic is a wonderful, wonderful thing.

I just typed a long thing out....but deleted it. The TLDR version is I feel like I no longer have a place in the RPC, and Idek why. Yes, I keep losing mutuals. But I don't think it's just that. That's part of it, but not the whole reason.

I think it's also just....I love all my threads. (Hence why I struggle to drop threads even when I desperately want to). I love all my RP partners. But does anyone feel the same? Is there anyone who would even notice if I logged out of my RP blog forever?

I just feel like I'm easy enough to forget, in terms of writing/RP partners. I still remember people I used to write with years ago, and think of them fondly , hope they're doing well. But does anyone feel that way about me? That I don't know.

I'm not saying everyone has to like me, or love me, but if even one person felt that way, it would be so appreciated. If even one person would notice if I didn't log in again, I would be happy. <3

I'm not saying this to fish for compliments or anything. I just...want to find a solution. A way to not worry so much about what others think. A way to not feel badly whenever someone unfollows/blocks. A way to enjoy RPing, my own way.

I think the first step is logging out for a bit. I'll be back. I'm not leaving forever. But I do think I need some time to think and to figure out how to approach the RPC the way I approach my personal blog. After all, I genuinely don't care if someone unfollows my personal, but somehow in the RPC the stakes feel higher. It feels like if I don't have everyone following me, I'm no longer necessary to the community and that's hard to come to terms with. I know that that's not actually true. I know that there are people who I have threads with who I would miss if I was to leave.

Would they miss me? That I don't know. But I do know this: I love every one of my threads, every one of my RP partners. So I'll be back, I promise. Just got to figure out how to approach this blog in a different way.

I think the short answer is: I fell asleep watching the IWTV movie when I was 10 but I always remembered it and then a few years later I stumbled onto the book and went OH THERE'S A BOOK! and then I was done for.

But I'm trying to warm up to write so I'll give a long answer too 🤓

so like, I saw some of the IWTV movie when I was like 10 or so? (I'm old so it was 1998 when I was 10.) My friend wanted to watch it, it was like my Rich Friend when I was a kid, I remember distinctly that for some reason we had the opportunity to watch it in her mom's room on the big TV LOL so we were in there. I started watching horror films when I was like 6 and my anti-censorship parents didn't believe in even restricting R rated movies in the house so that all wasn't a big deal at all, and by age 11 I knew like all the words in Fright Night and From Dusk Till Dawn from watching them so much so I was excited for VAMPIRES!

HOWEVER, this movie was like a LITTLE too grown up and dry and I didn't really get it? And I know I fell asleep!!! 😂😂😂 So I have a really vivid memory of the rat wine scene, and that was about it. I'd also seen the last minute with Tom Cruise pulling the lace out of his sleeves on HBO one night or something, and those two parts like REALLY stuck with me vividly!!!

Cut a couple years ahead, now I'm 12. I'm having a sleepover at my best friend's house and she was like my baby bat friend that we like, discovered goth stuff together and got weird together and supported each other becoming the Weird Girls in school right? And we'd have sleepovers and stay up all night lighting candles and listening to Orgy and other silly music of The Year 2000 and we'd write like little RP stories about demons and whatever.

So we're sitting in her room and I'm just kinda spacing out and I see the word Vampire on one of the books on her shelf, and my like Baby Bat radar went off and I went WHAT'S THIS, A REAL ADULT PROPER NOVEL ABOUT VAMPIRES?? I don't think I'd read any! My friend was like "Oh yeah I stole it from my mom" !! lmao.

It was the red paperback of TVL! You know, this version!

NOW! I'm very spoiler averse and always have been so like, when I opened it up and realized it was BOOK 2 I was like, oH i cannot read this, what's book 1. OMG IWTV? THE RAT MOVIE?????

idk why but that excited me SO MUCH. Like my imagination went crazy. And I don't remember how I read IWTV, I might have gone and taken it out of the library? But I went back and read IWTV first!

(as a side note, the sleepover friend died when we were in our mid-20s, I just always want to pay respects when she comes up because what a special and influential person who was in my life at the exact right time and I will love her forever !! I cried about her in the shower last night out of nowhere lol.)

And like I was SO in love with IWTV and with the writing, like the writing just really spoke to me and like, changed the way I thought about mundane things so much! I think this was during summer break and I remember while I was reading IWTV, walking to my friend's house at night became SO sensuous to me, I remember looking up at the thick green leaves in the trees and like having that Anne Rice language in my brain just had me losing my mind constantly. EVERYTHING became so poetic to me and so beautiful, I was seeing beauty everywhere I looked.

Looking back like, one of the experiences I have of VC is that because I read it so young, I've had the chance to reread the books every so often and like, as I got older I'd get more and more out of them because I was like a kid and my reading wasn't very strong so there are definitely parts of the story that went over my head, either because my comprehension just missed it or because I was too young to like understand deep complicated emotions, idk?

But I got started on them that summer! It was sooo exciting. I used to peek at the page of Anne Rice's other works at the front of the book and it had all the VCs listed and I remember like, really enjoying the book and I would just be like giddy with excitement that there were ALL THESE OTHER BOOKS and I couldn't wait to find out what was in them?

For some reason, HBO or Starz or somebody was playing IWTV alllll the time that summer so I kept noticing that it was on and I was trying so hard to resist because I wanted to finish the book first and then watch it, and I remember at one point I was like WHAT IF I JUST TURN IT ON TO SEE WHAT SCENE IT IS?! and I turned it on and saw when Armand introduces himself and I was like ARMAND??? THERE'S A BOOK CALLED ARMAND! HE HAS A BOOK, HE MUST BE IMPORTANT??!?! I wasn't up to that part of the book yet!!!That was quite exciting.

But YEAH BASICALLY. That's how it started, and I spent the next two years reading VC! Looking back I don't actually know why it took me so long, because I know like, once I got a book I'd finish it in like 2 or 3 days LOL. Probably I was saving money to buy each book or I had to wait for my mom to take me to the library or something. Merrick was the most current book, too, and I was so excited to CATCH UP and then when I went to buy it I realized it was a MAYFAIR CROSSOVER so I had to take a few months to do the Mayfair detour LOL.

So anyway!!! That's basically what happened! It was like 2000-2001 and it was also the time when I discovered fanfiction ! And I had time to like, post a single VC on FF.net before the FF.net purge where they axed the Anne Rice categories and banned porn LMAO. When fandom moved over to LJ I had gotten into writing for other fandoms so I kinda fell out with the VC fandom. I also became really upset with Anne Rice when she had the Amazon meltdown and I was very fucking done supporting her for a really long time until I was recovering from a bad breakup and one night decided to get stoned and reread TOBT and it drew me back in.

I also coincidentally had fallen out of fandoming and writing fic for like, idk 8 years or so. When LJ died I just was so exhausted and gave up writing fic, and there's a whole other story about how my creative values changed when I was in college blah blah. But then like, some years went by, it was like 2016 or something and I decided to do a VC reread (stoned again, too, oops LOL) and I had made a silly meme on FB and my friend told me it would succeed on Tumblr. I was like I DIDNT KNOW THERE WAS A VC FANDOM ON TUMBLR??? But she was right and the meme did in fact blow up but it's on my old account with my real name so no one has to know it was me. But I went OH WOW THERE'S A FANDOM! So I created this blog to join the fun. 😂

And then like, I was rereading QOTD and I had just recently discovered AO3 (because remember I've survived several fic purges now I'm like, damn where are the kids posting fic these days lol) and would you believe how scandalized and upset I was when I went to read Devil's Minion porn on Ao3 and there WASN'T ANY LMAOOOO. So I was like, goddamnit, I have to write it myself lol. And that's how I got into writing VC fic as an adult after an 8 year fic hiatus. SO THAT WAS THAT that's how that happened that's why I am here today because I made really cool friends on VCblr and I decided to stick around.

DARP Advent 2024: Day Six

HALFWAY THERE!

Let's talk about INFLUENCES and ADMIRATION! Mun Portion!:

1. What inspired you to get into DARP? Former RP experiences? Just a love for the games? Oh boy. So I actually have a looooooong history of RP since I was in like middle school??? My best friend in the entire world and I actually met on Neopets!!! on the RP boards. I was in this group called the Annoyers and we would "raid" creepy/weird RP threads and/or just flood the boards. Some of us got banned. I then went on to lead this group in a multi-fandom mix of boards. We had a b2g board and a... gosh I can't remember what it's called. We were also on Gaia Online. I was a moderator with Dragon Ball Z / greek mythology muses (hilarious spread there, I know). Then I got on Tumblr, I started writing Dragon Age fanfic for my Hero of Ferelden. And Shink, Pandy, and Tabbi were foolish enough to allow me to RP with them on my personal blog until I finally took the leap and made myself an RP blog and the rest is kind of like history. 2. Name one (or a couple) of your fellow writers that you think are neat, and why! Can be famous, on Tumblr, in your real life, on AO3, whatever. My baes both on AO3 and here are @theshirallen and @theharellan, and I'm also in love with @fatedvoyage, @turlums, @mercysought. Can't recommend those nerds enough. 3. Has anyone in DARP (past or present!) really helped to define or reimagine a character for you? Or made you rethink perceptions that you held? Oh God yeah. Most notable being Tas with Solas - before I met Tas I didn't really give a shit about Solas and wasn't particularly interested in him or his story. Unfortunately for my brain if Inara doesn't Vibe with a character I don't pay too much attention to them at first, and Solas resided in that gray bubble. Tas made me love him and be fascinated even before that turned out to be a very plot-relevant thing to be. 4. What other fandoms/works/writers have influenced your writing style and the way that you view writing and creative expression? lololol maybe see above but overall my writing was influenced very early on by Douglas Adams and Phillip Pullman. I wanted to be magical, but also amusing. 5. Do you have any friends that have created a Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor/Rook that you've basically adopted? Yes. I still use Pandy's Hawke but also steal @fatedvoyage's Van. I love Thora for Inquisitor but am coming to love Asharen more and more since I've been back here, as well as @keepslore. There's a lot of great Rooks so far I'm sure I'll absorb one. 6. What's a fandom work (writing, art, etc) that you think is super cool and you wish more people would see it? Share it with us! I mentioned this Sebastian and Nathaniel fic from Gaia to @mournflame the other day and I think all of you should read it too.

1. Who or what are some things/powers/people that your muse admires? Unfortunately for Nathaniel, his greatest hero was his father growing up. He admired the man very much. 2. Does your muse have a "hero" that they look up to from canon? In an extension of the above, Nathaniel saw Rendon as a hero for his contributions to the Rebellion. He really believed that his father was courageous and brave. 3. What legends, tales, or stories helped to form your muse's ideas of power and heroism? Many! He heard all the stories of the Heroes of the Rebellion as he grew up, from Maric and Loghain to his own father. Standing against the odds, acting noble even when your title has been stripped from you and taking back what is yours by right. Those are the stories that inspired him. 4. Conversely, what sort of legends, tales, or stories formed their idea of what a villain is? Much the same. Nathaniel does not care for Orlais, though chevaliers are a bit softer in his mind thanks to his time with his mother's cousin. 5. Are there other muses in DARP that your muse admires? Or reviles/fears? (be careful with that second one and be RESPECTFUL.) In DARP I think he would admire @mercysought's Anora. He begins hating every HOF that slaughtered his father but especially Couslands. 6. If your muse is someone who has companions or is one of the groups of companions from canon, how do they and their companions play off of each other? Are they friends? Enemies? Two dudes who'd cross the street to avoid each other? What are their most powerful connections within their "group"? He's got a wide variety in the Awakening crew. He and Sigrun are fairly close. He has a crush on Velanna, but she rebuffs him. Anders frustrates him, Oghren disgusts him. Justice... Justice tends to piss him off.

Thess vs Companion Approval

Okay ... so ... turns out I was kind of right awhile back when I said, somewhat sarcastically, that it sounded like the Veilguard companions would be less helpful to you in combat if you didn't keep their approval high.

Look, I understand that this sort of worked in DA2. But that was relatively minor. You got a little perk once your friendship or rivalry with someone was high enough. That was nice.

However, if you were Rivalmancing Anders ... he did not refuse to heal you. Which is apparently the case with Veilguard companions - or Neve, anyway. From what I remember about the article, if your companions don't like you, they may do somewhat more damage to enemies, but they will not be as helpful to you and some abilities are locked off.

I mean, I'm the sort of person who wants companions' approval to be as high as possible anyway. But doesn't that feel ... I dunno, restrictive to RP? Like, I could Rivalmance Fenris all day long and see his character progression with a different viewpoint being expressed at him basically all the time, but that RP choice wouldn't lose me access to any of his Lyrium Ghost abilities. I could rivalmance Anders - same deal - and still count on him to heal me if I set up tactics right. But now I'm seeing at least a part of why we basically aren't allowed to set up tactics at all - because there's no guarantee that the ability we want a companion to use will be available because we might piss off that companion.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's better for RP that your companions won't be as helpful to you if they don't like you. But given that it's game over if you die? That seems short-sighted. I much prefer the option of them leaving if they don't like what's going on. Maybe plot doesn't allow for that either, but if I hated someone enough not to fling a bit of healing magic at them in a heated situation, I would rather not be in their immediate vicinity - and likewise if it was advantageous to have that person I dislike around, I would at the very minimum attempt to keep them alive.

I dunno. The more I hear about Veilguard, the more I'm concerned about it. I thought I might be getting it just to Let's Play run it to demonstrate how accessible the accessibility options really make it, but ... I am becoming less than enthused.

On the subject of games I'm Let's Play-ing, I'm making my way so slowly through Silent Hill 2, but I do have vid of my playing the first hour or so of it. I just haven't thrown it on YouTube yet because ... well. Imposter syndrome, mostly. My not being great at the game is kind of the point, but ... well, I am a potato. Also I admit I have been stalling a little because the spoiler-free blurbs I keep hearing are all about "Death a serious possibility even on standard difficulty" and I don't know how "light combat" difficulty goes with that but there have been a couple of encounters that have not been fun for me. Then again, at least one of those was a severely bad pain day. And honestly, however terrifying it is, it's kind of worth it. Terrifying though it be, and stalling as I might be, I am loving the game.

I have a lot of considerations about whether a game is worth it. Because there's a lot of "it" to consider when dealing with a game's worth. There's the price point, with money being so scarce. Am I getting value for that money? Can I actually play it? Will I enjoy playing it? How badly will it frustrate me on all the levels a game can? Those considerations are all weighed on scales already tilted by fibromyalgia, so I can probably come across as picky, but it is in self-preservation. I want to want Veilguard, but it's been raising concerns for me personally since the beginning.

Just a quick note, Anon. If you have an Ask that might have been sitting there for a while now in my inbox, I haven't forgotten it! A month ago or so, I started getting these messages in my ASKs, from a very frustrated person who is apparently in the Caryl server I am in, and it's sort of made me wary? I sort of think they are venting. Their frustration isn't aimed at me but people I am friends with so it's kinda gotten me suspicious. There's regular Asks mixed in with them and this Ask kinda kicked my butt into gear lol I am gonna get to these other Asks so sit tight if you have one in there! I apologize, I really do love getting them and have so much fun answering!

Merle!!! Okay, I love Merle! When Merle was introduced in GUTS I really did not care for him at all. I applauded Officer Friendly for putting him on his ass and cuffing him up. He reminded me of my sisters dumbass racist asshole boyfriends from way back when, so, at first, I didn't like him from that initial episode.

Enter Daryl in Tell it to the Frogs! They were talking about Daryl in the cube van back to the quarry so I was definitely interested to see how what the brother of this Merle guy was like xD

Of course Daryl was upset his brother was cuffed to a rooftop pipe, threat of the living dead and all, so his reaction to me was really sad and heartbreaking to see, especially when they got there and found Merle's hand! Dx

When they didn't find him I forgot about Merle until that season two hallucination.

Then season 3, Merle is with this Governor dickcheese, so I totally knew some kind of arc was gonna play out and I was not disappointed! it was harrowing to say the least, I was so happy when Merle followed Daryl to the prison. I wanted to see Glenn, Merle and Maggie work through what happened, for Merle to come to a truce with everyone, and see him become a full fledged part of TF.

Bawled. I bawled like a crazy person when Merle was killed. I had totally embraced him, wanted him and Daryl to work out their relationship, and for some kick ass moments between Merle and Carol lol. That banter they had was epic. Wish that deleted scene of Carol and he had stayed in the show.

I'd have loved to see Merle in the Gov's war, Merle on he road, Merle in Alexandria. Missed the mark on that one, TPTB.

Backstory you didn't ask for! Dx

So I was part of this RP community on Mocospace (people still RP there but all the OG's have moved to Discord, after having first migrated to KIK) and I was on there, on a real life profile in like. . . 2008. I made a Severus Snape profile just for fun, the reasons why aren't important! xD If anyone is still reading this far and wants to know, send an Ask. But one night there was no one the in NEAR ME room so I explored the chat rooms, found the state rooms and I noticed North Carolina was really full of people! I went in there on my Snape profile, and I stumbled into a room full of Twilight Characters! And Pro Wrestling Characters! I was like O......O OMG! My peeps! Now, I had never read/watched any of the Twilight stuff at this point but they just swooped in and accepted me, it was wonderful! They introduced me to this wonderful world of Role Play! I was very novice to being online lol. Snape's bestie was Bella from Twilight and Nicki Bella, from Wresting. She played both of them on one profile lol it was amazing.

There was this whole Harry Potter Rp community that just so happened, did not have a Snape! So I learned the ropes, the rules, and it started my whole path and journey to where I ended up RPing Daryl, and writing fanfiction for Caryl.

I won't bore with the details on how I moved on from the Snape profile, it was so much drama, people became offended when my gender was revealed. I just assumed people knew I was a woman??

Anyway - I became obsessed with TWD, Daryl, Carol, Caryl, so I made a RP group, and we had almost the whole roster of characters! I ran the group, as was looking for a Merle, looking for a Rick, looking for a Michonne. I couldn't find anyone who wrote Merle good enough so I made him myself lol A werewolf RPer found me role playing by myself one day in North Carolina, he auditioned for Rick and he ended up being a pretty good writer, so I let him make a Governor too.

But omg I had SO MUCH FUN role playing Daryl and Merle, by myself to myself xD

I must say, my group lasted until around season 6 of TWD. It was a blast. I miss having a RP group of friends just writing out fun little plays. I have so many stories about it xD And thirsty people for my Daryl's . . . crossbow! Dx xD

Do you believe you have a type of character you gravitate towards writing? I need you to not look at my muselist and look at this answer. I love silly girls. I love whimsical little girly girls so much.

I made this blog because I was bored and wanted a place to lore dump about my ocs without bothering the few normal people that come across my main blog

Disability(s): Agent Phoenix is missing their right leg from a horrible car crash that (supposedly) claimed the lives of their parents at 14, forcing them to live on the streets for two years until they eventually got scouted by the agency. Miraculously, even though they've been in far worse danger and experienced far worse pain, they have not sustained any other lasting injuries.

Personality: Imagine if the Norse god Loki and a can of Monster Energy drink had a child who likes to commit arson as a hobby.

Random facts: Phoenix can read, write, and speak fluent English, Spanish, and Japanese because their parents moved around all the time and barely stayed in one place for more than a month. They're also pretty good at Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, French, and Galic. They refuse to reveal where they learned all of these languages in only 18 years.

They can do some basic martial arts, (update: they are a black belt in Karate, and did not reveal that until recently for some reason) but they mainly excel at accidental stealth and all-out brawl style fights, for they are very fast and good at analyzing how exactly to take an enemy out.

They are diagnosed with autism and auditory schizophrenia, although they believe that they may also have ADHD because of how much stimulation they need to get their job done.
