jack harkness' arc is so fucking insane honestly... the guy is literally comic relief most of the time just out there throwing dirty jokes and winking at everything that moves, meanwhile his canon storyline is that his blond lady friend who was heartbroken at seeing him die absorbed The Time Vortex - that no human should ever absorb - which gave her supernatural powers that made her able to bring him back before she had to be saved BUT... she could not control those powers properly so she brought him back permanently and so he can no longer die but he keeps aging ! and he's aware of that contradiction and he asks the only other seemingly immortal being he knows about it in a way that makes it obvious that he's really fucking worried about it but that being looks him in the eyes and admits he fears what he has become and tells him he honestly has no idea what's gonna happen to him so he just has to like.. fake smile and keep on going. and then what that alien doesn't tell him is that he knows he's gonna live for another 5 BILLION YEARS and age into something entirely unrecognizable to anyone in the universe before he is finally allowed to die. like wow. that sure is the fucking comic relief right there !

Fright Knight sighs, running a clawed hand through his hair in an attempt to stop the flames from flickering into being. It had been far too long since he had taken a human-ish form. His human-ish form. Ugh. He didn’t exactly care for his human form after so long as a ghost, but needs must he supposed. 

Especially with the whole, we’re going to punch a backdoor into the literal daycare part of the Infinite Realms and be surprised when literal toddlers go exploring. 

Well, at least it got him off of guard duty for a bit, which was relieving. Not that he didn’t love the darkness, but it got boring in the shadow of his sword for literal centuries with nothing else happening. He was a warrior for Realm’s sake! Borderline an Ancient in both power and age! He wasn’t meant to stay so still for so long. 

So while ghostling wrangling wasn’t exactly in his area of expertise, he could definitely gather them back up to the Realms. And deal with the curs who had decided to attack literal babies. 

The Daycare area was already understaffed due to just how large it was, and the one in charge of this section had practically sobbed to the Council (In another world they would have been put on hold for a century in line for their concerns, and then more once a Sarcophagus was opened, but they had told the other ghosts in distress, causing others to let them go up in said line) how they were almost certain they had felt at least one core form Outside the realms thanks to the breach. 

Which had understandably put everyone at an uproar. 

So here he was slipping between shadows to do reconnaissance and take stock of if any Ghostlings had left the city. And gently scruffing those he comes across in exasperation because what are you doing, ghostling? Look at the mess, what would your caretaker say?

when i think of alastor with a kid, i automatically think of his relationship with nifty. homeboy is so gentle and caring with her, he’s rarely like that with anyone else (minus charlie, but that’s different).

if he were to find reader as a child who just so happens to be a deer like him, all alone in the big bad world of pentagram city, he would dig wayyy deep down in that soul of his to find a part that isn’t cold, just to take them by the hand and say “don’t be afraid, sweetheart, you’re with me now” and he would absolutely introduce them to nifty and watch them get along because it’s like he has two daughters (nifty in my mind is like a daughter to him, shush). and he most definitely protects her from the overlords and adam because “if anyone touches a hair on their head, i will make sure to murder you in broad daylight, and broadcast your screams for every other disrespectful sinner as a reminder. understood?”
