Compilation of EVERY single time they changed Hobie's filter in the digital version:
Left: Theatrical release Right: Digital release
You might have to click on some of them to get a better look at Hobie, sadly I don't have a video editor that allows me to make better edits than these :')
#This took so long to make lol#cause I had to edit every scene with Hobie from both versions so I could watch them right after one another to compare them#I did this with ALL the scenes he's in also the ones where he's on screen as spider-punk#but they only changed his filters in these scenes so it was a waste of time :')#sidenote: no it wasn't it's never a waste of time to look at hobie I just couldn't use it for my GIFset lol#I also made a bouns one but I'm not allowed to post more than 30 GIFs in one post apparently so I guess I just won't add it then...#but Hobie was basically filterless during all these scenes in the theatrical version#I like that they gave him more different filters in the digital version#the only change I don't like is in the first GIFs#cause like that one post pointed out it looks like they removed his lipstick for some reason#also really wish I had a better video editor so we could get a closer look at Hobie but I did my best with what I had#also slowed some of them down to get a better look at them#been having this idea for a while and now I finally finished it!#which means I can go back to working on my fics now#hopefully lol#also lemme know if there are some other scens you guys want me to make comparisons of#cause I have both versions#the theatrical release isn't the highest quality though so if you know where I can get my hands on a better version lemme know ;)#hobie brown#spider punk#miles morales#spider man#peter b parker#jess drew#miguel o'hara#spider man across the spider verse#across the spider verse#across the spiderverse#atsv#theatrical version

A friend and I were watching Little Shop of Horrors on a website frequented by sailors under a black flag but anyway we were nearing the end of the movie and Audrey was dying and I was like huh I thought she survived and my friend was also very confused like "hey this isn't how the scene is supposed to go" but I remembered reading about a second, apocalypse ending of the movie that was different from the theatrical release, which somehow we had stumbled upon by pure accident
So we both watched on in increasing distress and disbelief as Audrey II proceeded to eat Audrey, then Seymour, then be sold as a million tiny Aubrey II's that proceeded to have extended monster-movie montages of taking over various cities and landmarks and fighting the military
And at least I had some sort of knowledge this was a thing that existed but my friend just stumbled into watching the existential horror version of a beloved childhood favorite.
#little shop of horrors#she had no idea and didn't believe me at first and was SO AFFRONTED when Aubrey died#she was like are they just all going to die?? is it gonna kill everyone??? and the answer was yes#luckily we found a theatrical version on archive dot org so we could see the ending she remembered#but just no warning suddenly apocalypse#audrey had a really good line of 'when i die which i expect will be soon'#and asking to be fed to the plant with a reprise of Somewhere Green ugh

One thing you need to know about me is that I will for the 5000th time rewatch the 1980 Shakespeare in the Park filmed performance of The Pirates of Penzance, starring Kevin Kline, Patricia Rutledge, Linda Ronstadt, and Rex Smith and I will gif the heck out of it…
#Kevin Kline’s Pirate King was a FORMATIVE crush#can you blame me?!#look at that man!#and his chest hair#good lord#the piratical things I would let him do to me#Hot take: I actually prefer this production to the theatrical film version#kevin kline#rex smith#modern major general#the pirates of penzance#pirates of penzance#gilbert and sullivan#theatre#musicals#reaction gif#reaction gifs#i made these#use them wisely… or not

I'm watching this real cool show called Kintama tonight!
The title's a little on the dirty side, and the main character (?) seems too polished and shiny, kinda more gilded than real gold, I don't know, but it's not half-bad.
#gintama#refreshing myself on the story before seeing the theatrical version this weekend#... hopefully

Little Metal Pinocchio
(Can be read as platonic or romantic. Go wild.)
Ortho: What’s love?
Y/N: It’s, uh, love is uh, a little more harder to explain, because of um… sit down.
Ortho: *proceeds to stand on chair and listen*
Y/N: *notices* Ah, you didn’t sit down. *gestures to chest* Love is something you feel, inside.
Ortho, copies Y/N’s gesture: Inside… Do I feel it?
Y/N: I don’t know, you’re made of metal, but maybe some is there.
Ortho: Oh. What’s that? *points to the chair he’s standing on*
Y/N: That’s a chair.
Ortho: *stumbles but Y/N catches him* What’s that? *points to Y/N’s shoe*
Y/N: That’s a shoe.
Ortho: What’s that? *points to Y/N’s mouth*
Y/N: That’s a mouth. *gently kisses Ortho on the cheek*
Ortho, flustered & excited: What’s that?
Y/N: That’s a kiss.
Ortho: Oh. *points to chair* A kiss. *points to his shoe* A mouth. *points to his mouth* A chair. I give you a shoe. *kisses Y/N on the forehead*
Y/N, flustered as well: Close enough.
#Twisted Wonderland#TWST#Ortho Shroud#GN!Reader#I swear nobody will get this reference it's so obscure#but for those who are curious it's from the Sandy Duncan Pinocchio theatric film#I just adore her version and this scene from the film is charming#Still on hiatus at the time of this being posted#just wanted to post it 'cause I couldn't get it out of my head

#grrr didn´t upload#anyways it hit me jax is the only member not really toy-like#I´ve seen fan interpretations of him being a plushie like ragatha but it´s not canon (as of now anyways)#ig gangle and pomni aren´t explicitly toys but I do see connections to entertainment at least#gangle a theatrical mask tied to theater and pomni and jesters entertain others#jax is just...purple rabbit#I do think this was intentional but then that made me think hmmm what if he was more based off a toy#so yea#THIS OR THE VERSION WITH SUCTION CUPS WOULD BE FUNNY#how would he carry keys uhh who knows#the amazing digital circus#tadc#tadc meme#jax tadc#tadc jax#the amazing digital circus jax

just watched lord of the rings extended edition 13 hour marathon for the first time. i am emotional and i am sleepy but most of all. i strongly believe the person who forced peter jackson to edit down should be shot
#lotr#lord of the rings#wow so many thoughts#so many scenes that feel so integral to the movies that I have no clue how I watched the theatrical version#the saruman death scene??? eomer screaming over eowyn’s body???? wtf#the boromir/faramir flashback with denethor showing up and immediately ruining the vibes????#also idk if I somehow missed this in the theatrical release but the way the chain holding the ring is physically fucking up Frodo’s body…#his skin is red and inflamed and the ring weighs his whole body down at times so that he can’t move…horrific#anyone who thinks Frodo is weak has a mushroom for a brain HE FOUGHT SO HARD#anyway#marathon was in a theatre it was so fun#i watched LOTR for the first time ever like last year & it sunk its hooks into me irreparably. in less than a year I have rewatched 4 times#call me a rider of rohan the way I ride for two towers#best movie of all time?? it’s gotta be up there at least

You know, aside from maybe lotr, I have yet to see a movie where the 'extended edition' isn't notably worse than the regular version
#jau rants#this could be due to me just not having enough movie culture yet#but also yeah often those scenes were cut for a reason#I'm watching apocalypse now redux and even without knowing the original version I can tell this one would be better cutting stuff#also to be clear I do think some scenes of lotr long edition were rightfully cut in the theatrical edition

one of the many interesting things about Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella (1997) (the version starring Whitney Houston and Brandy) is that it incorporated songs from other r&h shows. one of these songs being "the sweetest sounds" - cinderella and prince christopher's duet in the town square. that song originates from the show no strings (1962), and was originally sung by Diahann Carroll.
With her starring role in No Strings, Diahann Carroll became the first Black American actress to win a Tony Award for Leading Actress in a Musical.
Here's Diahann Carroll performing on The Ed Sullivan Show:
youtube
and, just because, here's the version from 1997:
youtube
#the impact of r&h cinderella '97 was strong enough for concord theatricals to license its a theatrical version of it!#for which i am very glad because it is the best version of r&h cinderella#(it's called cinderella enchanted edition on concord's website)#i linked the clip of just Diahann singing the excerpt because the full song is five minutes and I cannot find a video#but no strings was also notable because it featured an interracial couple!#musical theatre#Youtube

Did you guys know they added extra details to Miles G Morales in the digital version?
It might not be as noticeable as the changes made to Hobie but you can still tell the difference when compared to the theatrical release
(It's most noticable in the last two GIFs) :
Left: Theatrical release Right: Digital release
You can click on the GIFs to make them bigger if you want a better look at them.
#some of it might be a bit hard to see due to the theatrical release being in lower quality#I'm not done obsessing about this movie btw#I also wanna make a post where I point out the changes made to the dialogue in the two versions#but for some reason my videos never show up in the tags#so idk if it's worth it if it doesn't even show up in the spiderverse tags...#miles g morales#miles 42#prowler miles#miles morales#spider man#across the spider verse#spiderverse#across the spiderverse#atsv#my post#my gif#my gifs

Steve Yockey and Richard Speight Jr and Jeremy Carver really said we see you Supernatural so true Gay Love DOES Pierce the Veil of Death and Save the Day in every version of this story (so hard the canonical reunion is uncensored and onscreen this time)
#if no one else will write you the antidote to homophobic hatecrime posts putting no honor on the names of creatives doing both these proud?#then homemade is fine. here's the good version of cinematic parallels for the media literate#Jack+Cas bless SPN's apotheosis through everything it and its creatives' fight made possible. their work just keeps honoring it#+this era of shows with a camp theatrical too-dark-meets-lens-flare aesthetic and a queer Monster Club? call that WinGothDetectives#supernatural#spn#destiel#spn writers#spn cast#spn crew#steve yockey#richard speight jr#jeremy carver#spn is queer#multifandom#mine

I love the LOTR movies and generally think of them as separate entities from the books, but there are a number of moments I’ll be sitting there watching them thinking, “Hhmmmm, I like this, but I like the book scene better.”
That moment where Eomer sees Eowyn half-dead on the battlefield and screams, though?
That’s not one of them.
#that’s one movie scene I actually like better#honestly a mistake not to have that in the theatrical version#LOTR
