We set out
To make up all mistakes of our parents and their friends
We set up
We set up a safety net but it was above our heads

Albums that have been in my rotation since I left! Pt.1
Whenever, If Ever by The world is a beautiful place and I'm no longer afraid to die
Tumblr media
Midwest emo is a genre that is a rather new thing to my rotation. I would say I've expanded my taste a lot since I've been gone in general. That being said this album in particular is something I've returned to a lot. Something about this hits idk.
Other Midwest emo records I've enjoyed so far are: Masked Dancers: Concern in So Many Things You Forget Where You Are by Brave Little Abacus Everyone Asked About You Self Titled See You by Pegmap American Football Self Titled

I saw The World is a Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid to Die on Friday, and they Fucked Severely.
Also, never thought I'd see a mosh pit at an emo revival show, but I'm sure not about to complain.

Note
are Spanish Love Songs and The World Is A Beautiful Place related bands because I saw you recommended both so I gave them both a listen and lined them up in a playlist but I didn't notice when it switched from one band to another very reliably
they're both indie/emo revival but they don't share much in the way of lineups. i also don't think their sounds are that similar but I've listened to them both a ton so I'm really familiar with them
The World Is are more of a midwest emo band (like American Football, for example) and they go for a more atmospheric style, with long instrumental passages and longer than average songs. they also have a lot of different singers who will blend and come in and out of the mix
Spanish Love Songs, on the other hand, takes more from the pop punk emo style, in the vein of MCR. despite the depressing lyrics and moody sound of their songs, they're still usually energetic and quick. they also conform to pop music standards a lot more
both bands to have similar lyrical themes, but even then i find that they stand out. both are progressive-minded, but there's an anger to Spanish Love Songs, at the self, at the system, and at the world. The World Is, on the other hand, often talks about community and companionship
The World Is is much more of an album band so i would recommend listening to them that way
so uh tldr sorta but only sorta

The World is a Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid to Die’s Whenever, If Ever 10 year anniversary remaster on I think clear and evergreen marble. I don’t remember
Anyway
I can’t believe this album is 10 years old. I remember when I first heard this band on a 4 way split. This album is incredible and I’m old as balls
