so i watched The Shining for the first time recently! i really enjoyed it! i thought it'd be fun to do an experimental screenshot redraw for it! i think it turned out p good all things considered

ghosts aren't usually my go to monster, but this was basically my fav way they can be done. distortions of reality/perception, and locations that actively want to hurt you. there's a reason i love the haunthing of hill house (book vers)

Jack was SO fucking creepy. i've heard ppl praise the acting before, but jesus they weren't kidding. every time he was on screen i wanted to crawl out of my skin. oh my god, he was so so unsettling. honestly, the whole damn movie had me like gripping my seat. i had to pause it a few times since it's so tense. big fan!

i went in pretty blind. i knew like, the scene where he's breaking down the door w an axe, or following Wendy up the stairs, but i didn't know how it ended, so i really was wondering if he'd kill his family or not. the sudden cutaway to this scene of him frozen was so fun, i love it!

okaya! watching the shining (1980) specifically for the soundtrack (gotta do a presentation on dies irae in a composition so i'm going with this!! also bc i am obsessed with wendy carlos and her work

right off the bat, i think the cyan default text windows movie maker credits are very funny. i've heard it's supposed to be subversive. we'll see.

soundtrack: slaps! i love the theme and also "rocky mountains", one of the other carlos tracks. very good for vibe setting

tho hearing this baroque-synth desolate gregorian chant theme behind those titles is hilarious
