Ive wrote test on romantic literature (romanticism) a few days ago and realized something.

Couldn’t most of stories nowadays be classified as part of romanticism?

The main signs of a romantic hero is that they suffer, are considered weird, have some tragic love story going on, someone dies in some brutal way and the media is often mixed with some other (novel wrote as a poem).

This way you could technically say that Percy Jackson, RWBY, The series of unfortunate events or Never ending story are part of romanticism.

Correct me if I’m wrong 🤷

I’ve never talked about A Series of Unfortunate Events on tumblr before so I might be speaking into the void, but! Every book opened “For Beatrice” for a reason Y’now? You can see the guilt he feels in how he speaks about her death within their relationship. “Dead Women tell no tales,” so here he is, a “Sad m(a)n writing them them down.” Telling her family’s story while he stands there, a lone sentry with all knowledge he gained from every ghost we are introduced to in the narrative. Even the ghosts of his own family.

“I will love you if I never see you again, and I will love you if I see you every Tuesday… I will love you as a drawer loves a secret compartment, and as a secret compartment loves a secret, and as a secret loves to make a person gasp... I will love you until all such compartments are discovered and opened, and all the secrets have gone gasping into the world. I love this quote, but it’s long. So I thought I’d quote my favorite parts in it, just so I have easy access to it in the future.

He defined those who put the fire out. And yet Snicket smokes in more ways than one. What an interesting character.
