King Cedric, the Great: What are you doing now, your majesty?
He said that becoming king was his biggest dream in life, but, did he think about what that would really mean? A change not only for him, but for all the subjects of Enchancia.
And perhaps, for the entire Ever Realm.
Cedric as King.
To be king, it is not enough to have a crown on your head and a dream of ruling in your heart.
A king must know how to behave as such, in addition to knowing about the politics of his own kingdom ,as well as dealing with political relations between other kingdoms.
ā¢ Did Cedric even study what it took to be a king? Did he study politics? Laws?
ā¢ Did he try to find out what he could do better than Roland, so that his subjects would like him more than his predecessor?
ā¢ Did he study Enchancia's problems in depth, to at least try to suggest solutions to them?
( I'm going to assume the answer is: no. And what is that book back there? "How to govern for Dummies"? Yes, I think you will need much more than that, your majesty.)
Eviction notice.
Well, when you take someone out of the job they were born to have and put them out the door of their generational home, what do you do with them?
ā¢ If he managed to remove Roland from power and take the throne, what would he do with the rest of the royal family?
ā¢ Did he think about what would happen to them after they were deposed?
ā¢ Did he think about where they would go?
ā¢ Perhaps in a secluded place, living comfortably, but out of sight so as not to arouse suspicion?
There is a saying: whoever is seen, is remembered. So the opposite is also valid.
( What's your plan Cedric? Give them mustaches and fake names? With a one-way ticket to an island in the middle of nowhere?)
Under new management.
It is to be expected that the people of Enchancia will react in some way, especially to a change as drastic as a takeover of power.
Those favored by Roland II would fear that this new situation would leave them at a disadvantage.
The disadvantaged, however, would have hope for the new king, as long as he fulfilled their expectations.
ā¢ Did he care about his subjects?
ā¢ The people of Enchancia that he would be responsible for after he took the throne, did he think about them?
If the people of Enchancia had a positive opinion about Cedric's reign, he would have the support of the people on his side, which would make him much more difficult to dethrone in the future.
If public opinion were bad, then opposition would arise, and unless he did something to improve things, it would only increase.
There is no point in making promises without intending to fulfill them, because the people would know and remember them.
And promises are debts.
Word is a currency, and how much is yours worth? This, coming from a traitor to the crown, of course.
( And I think your majesty has already started with a dirty name in the square. Owing more than you can pay, which is a bad sign.)
Hello Neighborhood!
After generations and generations on the throne, neighboring kingdoms would react to the seizure of power.
And after years of negotiations and treaties, they would be interested to know how things will go with the new king.
The most loyal kingdoms would certainly try to put Roland II where he was. Or at least put his sister Tilly in his place.
Now, kingdoms with less affinity to the previous royal family, could see themselves with an advantage. Perhaps if they supported the new king, they could make agreements that until then were impossible to make.
All hail the new king! And long live him!
As long as he is useful to our interests...
( It's not very pleasant to have friends just for the sake of interest, is it? Well, you should get used to it now. At the price of keeping the crown on top of his own head. Practice your fake smiles, because you will need it.)
What goes around,comes around.
Since he would have seized the throne, anyone could do the same to him. The spell goes against the sorcerer, and he ends up inspiring others to revolt against him.
ā¢ Did he think that someone might have the same idea as him at some point, to try to dethrone him?
ā¢ Did he think of any plan against it?
( The sword of Damocles doesn't seem so harmless now, especially when it's sharp and aimed at you.)
Cedric has become king, what now?
What? Didn't your majesty, the king, think of any of this?
Now, aren't you thinking about "improvising as you go"? Oh, were you? Uhm...
Well I have good news and bad news for you friend.
The good thing is that your majesty will really be the first and only in many things.
The first of the lineage, the first sorcerer on the throne and so on...
But also, the first to be deposed, the first to be the most unpopular, and the first to unite enemy kingdoms just to remove you from power.
The bad news is that whatever you do first, you will probably also do last. Because you won't have any chance to do it again.

So a little funny idea I had last night is what if Desmond reincarnated in Enchancia? He could be born in a random family or better yet as Sofia's brother? Since it's a musical I bet the first time he heard someone singing he was wondering why and where the music was coming from
I was debating if it would be better for Desmond to be Mirandaās oldest son or Rolandās oldest son.
Then I remembered part of the whole backstory of Roland is that his first wife died because he wished for a family so, in this one, Desmond is going to be Sofiaās older brother from Mirandaās first husband.
He thought he was just living in some sort of fantasy world that was heavily influenced by Disney fairy tales but he didnāt know he was in a Disney fairytale.
Heās around 16 years old when Miranda married Roland and he and Sofia became prince and princess. He, of course, made sure to stress that he has no plans to aim for the throne and even made a contract that was magically āsealedā by Cedric that shows his promise to never wish to become a king.
āI lived my life as a huntsman and I donāt see why I should stop being one.ā
This, of course, sorta placed him a strange spot.
Because when they became royalty, thatās when the songs started. The first time he heard a song, it was Sofiaās song that showed how sheās worried sheās not cut out to be a princess and he honestly just assumed it was his sister singing to have an outlet.
Then the songs started to be accompanied by music that appeared out of nowhere when he began living in the castle.
Everyone just goes along with it as if it was natural.
When he asked his mother about it, she said āOur heart is our guide to the music that we sing. You just havenāt found your song yet.ā
Desmondās just ā???ā about the entire thing but this is a fairy tale world so okay.
But Desmond noticed the great divide between the nobility and the common people and, as much as he sees his step father as a good manā¦
Wellā¦
The way he interacts with Cedric was certainly worrying.
But thatās not the worst of Desmondās worry, to be completely honest.
Seeā¦
Desmond is a strange man to everyone. He was kind and sweet but he showed that he knows when it He even treats Cedric with kindness and treated him as an equal, sometimes scolding the king about berating Cedric in public.
(Sure, Sofia did as well but Sofia was usually in school or away in some adventure or something while Desmond stayed in the castle, hunting or helping out his mother. He didnāt have lessons on how to be a royal but he can handle things his own way (his own way being a combination of fallen Italian nobility from the 15th century and posh Englishman that is technically a noble from the 18th century).
All of this culminates in Cedric throwing away his goal of taking the throne for himself and aiming to make Desmond the king.
And the first thing he needs to take care of?
That pesky contract Desmond had him make to show his disinterest with being king.
#desmond is a cool older brother to sofia#who thinks heās just a side character#(even sofia thinks he is)#and heās so cool with that#it was a relaxing place to be#the most he does is help sofia get her character development#then later seasons kick in#and bam!#desmond learns that heās smack dab in the middle of the fight for the throne#because cedric wants him to be king and a lot of commoners do too#he just wanted to chill#assassin's creed#desmond miles#ask and answer#teecup writes/has a plot#fic idea: assassin's creed#fic idea: sofia the first#sofia the first

Reminder | Cedric the Sorcerer x Reader
i apologize for the lack of fem reader i left it open edned for all readers but i hope everyone likes it :3
!!THIS HAS NOT BEEN PROOF-READ OR EDITED!!
no warnings i dont think, other than sad ceddy teehee
requested by: @bettathanyou
Cedric sighed as he sat on his stool, resting his head in his hands. āAnother spell fumbledā¦ā he thought to himself. His recent failed attempt at impressing the royal family reminds him of a time heād rather forgetā¦a time he wishes he couldāve prevented.
Looking up at the potion heās brewing, he catches a glimpse of his reflection in a jar. His bangs catch his eyeā¦the silver color being a permanent reminder of his failure, and the years of ridicule he experienced for it.
Dropping his head back into his hands, he frees the lump thatās been building in his throat, his tears falling onto his spellbook.
āCedric?ā you say, peeking into his lab, worried for the sorcerer after hearing about what happened from Princess Sofia.
āEh? Oh, [Y/N]...g-go away, you have work around the castle to do, don't you?ā
He turns his body away from you, hiding his misery beneath a cold exterior. Despite his growing fondness of you, he just can't seem to bring himself to be vulnerable with you.
āYou're crying, are you okay?ā
You walk closer to the sorcerer, as he sighs in defeat at you seeing his tear stained face.
āY-Yes, it's nothingā¦it's just a side effect from the griffin feathers Iām using in this spellā¦ā
He tries to sit upright, to pretend heās fine like he has for so many people.
Unlike them, though, you can see right through him.
āCedricā¦I know sad tears when I see themā¦is it about what happened in front of Roland?ā
Giving into your kindness, he reluctantly answers.
ā...Yes, it isā¦I can't seem to hold it together in front of himā¦I always mess things up just when everyone's counting on me to do it rightā¦ā
He glances up at his reflection in the jar again, face full of sorrow.
āItās alright Cedricā¦me and Princess Sofia can vouch for you, we know you're an amazing sorcererā¦ā
You kneel beside him, hugging him in an attempt to comfort him, though he continues to stare at his reflection.
āYou don't understand, [Y/N]... everything I do is a failureā¦everything Iāve done is, tooā¦ā
āCedric, is there something more to it? You don't have to tell me if you don't want toā¦ā
Opening up to you, he tells you about what happened back in his childhood and what he did to his sister, Cordelia's, hair. He tells you about how, ever since then, everyone belittled and made fun of him. How he started to believe themā¦
āCedricā¦ā
āI have a reminder on my head of what happened now, it seems no one will ever forget what happenedā¦ā
āButā¦it's a reminder of all youāve been through, tooā¦ā
āHm?ā
Looking up at you expectantly and pleadingly, you sigh and hold his cheek in your palm, gaining a bit of a flustered reaction from the sorcerer.
āYou endured all that bullying, all that ridiculeā¦and yet, here you areā¦Royal Sorcerer of Enchanciaā¦don't you think that, if you really were a terrible sorcerer, they would kick you out?ā
āHmā¦I suppose soā¦but what if it's all because of my father? They expect me to be just like himā¦ā
āThey could have hired Cordelia, Cedric, but they chose youā¦you also have me and Sofia, we believe in youā¦if you really were horrible, you wouldn't have any of thisā¦ā
āI suppose you're rightā¦ā
Leaning into your hand, he blushes, avoiding eye contact.
āThank youā¦for giving me that, um, pep talkā¦of sorts.ā
āIt's no problem, Cedric. That's what friends are forā¦ā
Wincing a bit at the casual friend-zone, he pulls away from you, putting on a stern, yet flustered face.
āYes, yes, now, um, run off. I haveā¦potions to brew and such.ā
You giggle as you stand back, giving him a peck on the lips and leaving out the door.
āAlright, Cedric, you can do it! I believe in your magic ability!ā
As you leave, he sighs contently, turning back to his work with the new-found confidence that youāve given him in, not only his magic, but his chance with you.
IM SORRY IF ITS SHORT I HOPE EVERYONE ENJOYSSSS!!!

now your turn to give us some greylock headcanons
or cedric headcanons
or cedlock headcanons
š¤² <- put them right here for us to look at and go wow wait fr?
Here is my essay.
I have many more, but this list would be excessive (if it isn't already). Some of these headcanons overlap because they complement each other. I've also included some Cedlock headcanons derived from the individual ones.
My Greylock Headcanons
1. He likes music and knows how to play several instruments.
This headcanon is partly borrowed from the Waltz for Cedric fanfic, but I find it very fitting for Greylock. I can imagine him playing an accordion while dancing, or even being part of a one-man band.
1g Cedlock: Greylock plays for Cedric and has composed musical arrangements for him.
2. He enjoys dancing.
I feel like Greylock would dance for fun, but heās not particularly skilledāat least not with ballroom dancing.
2g Cedlock: Greylock once asked Cedric to teach him ballroom dancing and pretended to be clumsier than he actually was just to spend more time dancing with him.
3. Heās the kind of person who can strike up a conversation with anyone.
I like to think that Greylock is very charismatic, someone who is āfriends with everyone,ā so to speak. At the very least, a lot of people know him.
At Hexley Hall he was change sit so he couldn't talk to his friends and would just make friends with the new person next to him.
4. Greylock used to play pranks on Slickwell and actually liked him (somewhat).
I imagine they didnāt have a close friendship but werenāt outright enemies either, something like Cedric and Baileywick. Greylock often played pranks on Slickwell, knowing how easily heād lose his temper, and he found it amusing.
Slickwell frequently tried to report him to Magnus, but by the time Magnus returned, Greylock had already cleaned up any mess with his magic, leaving Slickwell without proof. Like Candace trying to bust Phineas and Ferb.
5. Greylock likes fish and owns a goldfish.
Thereās not much to explain here; I just think Greylock is the type to enjoy fish and would have a goldfish living in a little castle tank.
6. Greylock wasnāt born into nobility, and his magical talents came from recessive genes.
My headcanon is that Greylock was born into a non-magical merchant family. His gift for magic came from recessive traits in his lineage. His parents did everything they could to send him to good schools, such as Hexley Hall, so he could maximize his potential. His family loves him, and he loves them.
7. Marshak taught Greylock the hand spell.
Personally, I prefer to believe that Marshak isnāt Greylockās relative but rather a retired Hexley Hall teacher who mentored him for most of his time there. Many of the spells Greylock knows were taught to him by Marshak.
8. Greylock wishes his role as Royal Sorcerer were different.
While he doesnāt hate his job, he wishes it came with less pressure. Greylock feels burdened by Magnusās impossible expectations and is annoyed that Magnus flaunts him, not as a recognition of his skills but as a possession to bolster his own image. Greylock resents being treated like a tool and just wants to enjoy life and explore what his magic can do without having to fulfill Magnusās excessive (and often exhausting) demands.
9. Greylock was fine after the events of "Day of Sorcerers."
My main headcanon about the conclusion of Rudistan and Greylockās story is this:
After Cedric betrayed Grimtix, many of the Orderās allies began to fall to the good sorcerers. With Enchancia and other kingdoms liberated from the order's control, reinforcements were sent to confront Greylock at Rudistan.
However, Magnusās fall from power revealed the vast number of opponents to his rule, sparking a civil war that pulled Greylock into its center. While Greylock aimed to overthrow Magnus, he hadnāt anticipated the implications, and becoming the face of a movement overwhelmed him.
Rudistan was divided: some were loyal to Magnus, others wanted to end the old regime altogether (I headcanon that Magnusās entire dynasty wasnāt particularly benevolent). Foreign intervention was blocked by Rudistanās own people, who, realizing Magnus wasnāt as invincible as he seemed (an idea fostered by Greylock), finally acted against him.
This essentially led to a civil war lasting several years. Communication between Rudistan and other kingdoms became minimal, if not nonexistent. Greylock used his magic to help the people and the opposition of Magnus, becoming a prominent figure of the movement, though the pressure weighed heavily on him. He felt that the rebellion used him just as much as Magnus had.
Eventually, Magnusās opposition won, and he was overthrown again. Someone else was chosen as king since Greylock refused the role. In the end, Greylock decided to leave Rudistan to live a quieter life elsewhere. He was pardoned, at least by Rudistan, for his crimes against the crown.
3g Cedlock: As soon as he was able, Greylock began sending letters to Cedric to check on him and share what had happened in his own life. Over time, they reunited and ended up together. Greylock eventually moved to Enchancia. (In my headcanon, the other kingdoms didnāt care much about Magnus losing his throne as long as the new ruler upheld previous agreements. Roland simply didnāt mind, and though the idea of sorcerers overthrowing kings unnerved him a bit, he ultimately accepted Greylockās presence.)
And they lived happily ever after, and all that.
10. Away from Rudistan, Greylock started dressing more freely.
Greylock enjoys experimenting with different patterns, textures, and colors, though he doesnāt always know how to match them well.
11. Greylock once got a hernia after spending all day fulfilling Magnusās whims.
(I know thatās not how hernias work, shhh.) In general, I headcanon that Greylock canāt stand Magnus (like most characters), but I find it amusing to think that tolerating him has led to similar mishaps. Every day he grows a little crazier.
12. Greylock sleeps in underwear.
No further explanation needed.
4g Cedlock: Greylock started wearing shorts to bed after Cedric told him he didnāt want him sleeping in just underwear when they were together. Not sitting on the things in his workshop in his underwear either.
My Cedric Headcanons
1. Heās obsessed with birds, especially corvids, and knows everything about them.
I like to think Cedric has a fascination with birds and how they manage to fly, applying that knowledge to his inventions. His interest in corvids began as a way to take better care of Wormwood when he was young.
2. Cedric is an excellent dancer and took lessons as a child.
Since he had to attend royal balls, Goodwyn made him take ballroom dancing lessons. Cedric actually enjoys dancing, although he was embarrassed about it during his teenage years and part of his adulthood. (He had intrusive thoughts about being mocked and a mild phobia of balls because the incident.)
5c Cedlock: Once he regained his confidence, Cedric began dancing with Greylock at parties.
3. Cedricās handwriting is gothic-style with elongated strokes.
I imagine Goodwyn had high expectations for Cedric in almost everything, including formal handwriting lessons. Cedric developed very elegant penmanship, though it can be hard to read due to his elongated strokes and the speed at which he writes.
6c Cedlock: Greylock sometimes struggles to read parts of Cedricās handwriting in letters, just as Cedric occasionally struggles with Greylockās. Both pretend they understand everything. (In reality, some parts are illegible.)
4. Cedric is some what cold-blooded and sleeps in a onesie with a sleeping cap.
On the rare occasions he actually goes to bed properly, Cedric bundles up excessively with warm clothes and blankets.
5. Cedric frequently uses spells to dress and clean himself.
I can totally see Cedric using magic to get dressed or bathe, saving time with spells instead of doing things manually. After all, if there are spells for ironing clothes (as Cordelia mentions), why wouldnāt there be spells for other tasks?
6. Cedric likes sweet things and eats candy or desserts when heās sad.
He associates sweets with the comfort Winnifred gave him as a child. I imagine Winnifred would soothe him with desserts in addition to her other comforting gestures. Because of this, Cedric now associates sweets with emotional support.
I headcanon that his favorite treats include flycakes and blueberry desserts (inspired by the "Mystic Meadows" episode).
7. Cedricās hair is slightly curly when grown out.
This is based on his teenage bangs and the slightly wavy hair of Cordelia and Winnifred.
8. Cedric is well-known in the village, and some people are excited to see him.
In "The Baker King", one villager mentions how the royal sorcerer made an entire orchard grow with his magic dust (something like that). This made me think it would be fun if some villagers were actually amazed by Cedricās magical abilities and enjoyed seeing his tricks. However, Cedricās constant bad mood when heās out prevents him from noticing. Itās a bit like the dynamic in Cedric Be Good.
9. He secretly loves jewelry.
Although heād never admit it, Cedric enjoys rings, necklaces, and anything shiny. He likes the luxury of wearing them. (I just enjoy imagining Cedric with jewelry.)
10. Cedric is a natural healer.
This one doesn't have a real reason, I just love the idea. It would explain why Cedric rarely gets hurt despite all the chaotic events he experiences, like his body magically heals itself.
11. Cedric still has nightmares about the Day of the Sorcerers and what could have happened if Sofia hadnāt intervened.
He has certain triggers and gets uncomfortable with specific topics, even though no one holds a grudge anymore. At some point after the series finale, he worked hard to rebuild his reputation but pushed himself so much that he fainted from exhaustion. Baileywick had a long talk with him about it. Still, Cedric occasionally has intrusive thoughts whenever something related is mentioned.
12. Cedric and Gwen will cause the EverRealmās equivalent of an industrial revolution.
This could be considered a ācrackā headcanon, but I think itās possible. Just look at their flying cars! I also like to think the car Roland uses in the vacation episode is one of Cedricās creations.
13. Cedric loves reading and is a huge fan of history.
He might not remember exact dates and names, but he retains everything else about historical events.
14. Cedric knows about botany and enjoys gardening.
He keeps plants in the upper part of his tower and likes taking care of them, though some occasionally die when he forgets to water them. (He revives them with magic anyway.)
My Cedlock Headcanons
These are a bit more scattered since they are imagined in various contexts and times within the series.
7. Wormwood doesnāt like Greylock.
Basically, I think Wormwood would tease Greylock when Cedric isnāt looking. Greylock doesnāt want to say anything to Cedric because he knows Wormwood is important to him. (And because he's a little terrified of Wormwood)
Eventually Wormwood stopped bothering him.
8. Greylock got into trouble to be with Cedric in detention.
Back in Hexley Hall, when Cedric was sent to detention for some disaster he caused, Greylock would find a way to get detention too, just to spend time with him.
9. Introducing him to the family
Greylockās family is full of pranksters and somewhat rude humor, so Greylock threatened them all not to make any jokes when he brought Cedric to meet them. When he finally introduced them, they all made him feel welcome. Greylockās family gets along well with Cedric and always tries to include him.
When Cedric introduced Greylock to his family (though it wasnāt necessary since Goodwyn and Winnifred had already investigated Greylock like the FBI), he warned them not to say anything rude about him (mainly Goodwyn).
Overall, they get along well with Greylock, but Goodwyn is a bit tougher and colder toward him. Eventually, he warmed up to Greylock when he realized he was a highly skilled sorcerer, though he still finds him a bit "not serious and unprofessional".
10. Cedric tries to learn the language of Rudistan for Greylock.
(Yes, I stole this from the Swanoverse universe, okay, leave me aloneāit's a wonderful fanfic.)
11. About kisses.
Greylock was the one who initiated their kisses at first, but later, Cedric started seeking them out, though he didnāt know how to ask for them. I feel like their first kisses were a bit awkward because Cedric wasnāt sure what to do, and he was terrified of kissing in public.
And that's all because this is way too long
#headcanons#cedric the sorcerer#greylock the grand#cedlock#Shit#that was long#I should really take all this and make a fanfic or something

šComparing Amber Beginning to Finaleš
Amber's character arc in Sofia the First is one of the most compelling transformations in the series. Comparing Amber in the pilot episode, "Just One of the Princes," to Amber in the series finale, "Forever Royal," reveals how far she has come as a person, a sister, and a princess. Her journey is a testament to the show's themes of growth, empathy, and the importance of family.
Amber in the Pilot: The Spoiled Princess
When we first meet Amber, she embodies many of the stereotypical traits associated with a spoiled princess. She is self-centered, vain, and dismissive of others who do not fit her idea of "royalty." Her behavior toward Sofia is particularly telling. In the pilot episode, Amber feels threatened by Sofia's sudden inclusion into their royal family. Having been the center of attention her entire life, Amber struggles with jealousy and a fear of losing her status as the kingdom's beloved princess.
Some key traits of Amber in the pilot include:
Entitlement: Amber expects everything to go her way simply because she is royalty. She often uses her position to boss others around or manipulate situations to her advantage.
Superficiality: She values appearances and popularity above all else. For example, she cares more about being admired at royal events than about forming genuine connections with others.
Jealousy: Amber's initial interactions with Sofia are tinged with insecurity. She sees Sofia as an outsider who might overshadow her.
Lack of Empathy: Amber struggles to understand or care about others' feelings, especially Sofia's. This is evident when she sabotages Sofia's attempts to fit in at Royal Prep.
In these early episodes, Amber serves as an antagonist of sortsānot a villain, but certainly an obstacle for Sofia as she tries to navigate her new life as a princess. However, even in these moments, there are hints that Amber's behavior stems more from insecurity than malice. Deep down, she fears being unloved or replaced.
Amber in the Finale: The Compassionate Sister
By the time we reach the series finale, "Forever Royal," Amber has undergone a profound transformation. She is no longer defined by her insecurities or selfishness but by her loyalty to her family and her willingness to put others before herself. Her relationship with Sofia is now one of mutual respect and loveāthey are true sisters in every sense of the word.
Some key traits of Amber in the finale include:
Empathy: Amber has learned to consider others' feelings and perspectives. She genuinely cares about Sofia's happiness and success, often supporting her instead of competing with her.
Bravery: In "Forever Royal," Amber proves that she is not just a pampered princess but someone who can rise to the occasion when it matters most. She helps defend Enchancia against Vor's threat and shows courage in standing by Sofia.
Selflessness: Perhaps the most striking change in Amber is her ability to put others' needs above her own. She no longer seeks attention or validation but instead focuses on doing what is right for her family and kingdom.
Maturity: By the finale, Amber has grown into a poised and responsible young woman who understands what it means to be a princessānot just wearing a crown but embodying kindness, wisdom, and leadership.
One particularly touching moment in "Forever Royal" is when Amber expresses pride in Sofia for becoming the Protector of the Ever Realm. This moment underscores how far their relationship has comeāfrom rivalry to genuine sisterly love.
Key Moments That Shaped Amber's Growth
Amber's transformation did not happen overnight; it was built gradually over the course of the series through key moments and lessons:
"The Big Sleepover" (Season 1): When Amber invites Sofia's village friends to a royal sleepover, she initially looks down on them but eventually learns to appreciate their differences. This episode plants the seeds for her growth.
"Princess Butterfly" (Season 2): Amber learns that being popular isn't as important as being true to herself. This marks an early step toward maturity.
"The Curse of Princess Ivy" (Season 3): After accidentally summoning Princess Ivy and endangering Enchancia, Amber takes responsibility for her actions and works with Sofia to fix her mistake. This episode highlights her growing sense of accountability.
"A Royal Wedding" (Season 4): As maid of honor at Aunt Tillyās wedding, Amber demonstrates leadership and grace under pressureāqualities that foreshadow her eventual maturity.
"Forever Royal" (Series Finale): In this climactic episode, Amber stands alongside Sofia during Vorās attack on Enchancia, showing courage and loyalty.
Themes Reflected in Amberās Arc
Amberās journey reflects several key themes central to Sofia the First:
Redemption: Amber starts as someone who prioritizes herself above all else but learns that true happiness comes from helping others.
Family Bonds: Her relationship with Sofia evolves from rivalry to deep sisterly love, showing how family can inspire personal growth.
Empathy and Understanding: As Amber matures, she becomes more aware of othersā feelings and learns to value people for who they are rather than their status or appearance.
Amberās Legacy: A Fully Realized Character
By comparing Amber in the pilot to Amber in the finale, itās clear that she has grown from a one-dimensional "mean girl" into a fully realized character with depth and complexity. Her flaws make her relatable, while her growth makes her inspiring.
Amberās development also enriches Sofia the First as a series by showing that even those who start off selfish or insecure can change for the better with time, effort, and love. Her transformation reminds viewersāboth children and adultsāthat itās never too late to become a better version of yourself.
In short, while Pilot Amber may have been "Princess Perfect" on the outside but flawed within, Finale Amber shines as someone truly worthy of wearing a crownānot because she was born into royalty but because she has earned it through kindness, bravery, and growth.

I imagine after the magic show at the end of 'Day of the Sorcerers', when Cedric and Wormwood went back to the tower, Wormwood ranted to Cedric about what an idiot he was to throw everything away when they were so close.
And then Wormwood could have been like (desperate now) "We can still salvage this, lie low for awhile, let Roland think you've changed, and then when he lets his guard down-"
Cedric: NO, Wormy. It's over! I refuse to go back to the man I was! I refuse to betray Sofia and her family again! How could I even consider it after that dear girl granted me her forgiveness when I didn't deserve it?
Wormwood: So, that display of groveling before the king- you were serious?? It wasn't an act? Just like that, you're actually giving up on everything we always planned and worked so hard for??
Cedric: Would you rather have us thrown in the dungeon and banished from the kingdom? Because if you recall-
Wormwood: That was only because you stupidly didn't freeze Little Miss Goody-Goody when you should have! Not only that, but you let her take your wand and destroy the Medusa Stone, freeing her family! And then, just when I thought you were going to rectify your foolish moment of weakness when you cleverly arranged for us to escape the dungeon- just as I started to have some hope for you again- you blew our last chance by freezing GRIMTRIX instead of Sofia... and after he froze the rest of the royal family for you, offering you Enchancia on a silver platter once again!
Cedric: ENOUGH, Wormwood! I have made up my mind for good! I've finally decided what I need, what's truly important in my life!
And I imagine things were strained between them ever since, all the way up until Wormwood's betrayal in 'In Cedric We Trust'.

Headcanon: Cedric's first love was the previous queen of Enchancia, Lorelei.
I didn't created this headcanon, it has been around the fandom for some time, but I wanted to do my take on it.
TW: death, not being able to have kids, the queen died during the birth of her children, unrequited love, rejection, grief.
Cedric met Lorelei when he was a young apprentice, right before he started studying at Hexley Hall.
It happened when Lorelei's parents (the queen and the king from a nearby kingdom) came to visit the Enchancia castle for political contracts and peace treaties with King Roland I (again, this isn't my idea, it's from a fanfic). They spent some months in Enchancia and Lorelei soon made friends with the children in the castle, such as Roland, Cedric, Cordelia and Tilly, and as much as she loved everyone else's company, Cedric was her best friend and she could always count on him.
School started and Roland, Tilly and Lorelei started studying at the royal prep, while Cedric and Cordelia went to Hexley Hall. Because of the friendship between King Roland I and Lorelei's parents, and also the proximity between these kingdoms, they often travelled to Enchancia, sometimes even to go on vacation and spend some time with their close friends.
That way, Lorelei often spent her time playing with the boys and having girl talk with the girls, Cedric shared the little amount of spells he knew at the time, and they often went to the gardens, it was their place to hang out.
Cedric didn't had many friends, even before the incident. He had an older sister, and she was the closest friend he had, but despite for Cordelia, Roland was always busy with prince stuff and him and Tilly were never really close, so when Cedric wasn't on Hexley Hall with his classmates, he only had Cordelia and Lorelei.
When the incident happened, Cedric was around 9 years old, and his life was never the same ever since. Everyone started to see him as a nuisance, he got dirty looks in the hallways and cruel comments, and those white bangs on his head didn't help him forget his mistake (or who he believed he was- a burden, good for nothing, and the worse sorcerer of his bloodline). Cordelia wasn't so close to him anymore, even still being his sister, she was acting like his father and always pointing out his behaviors and mistakes, so Cedric didn't felt like her friend anymore.
The only person who still saw him for the person he is was Lorelei. She was like an angel in his life. It didn't mattered how many times she saw him failing, for her, Cedric was still an amazing young sorcerer ā and friend. While Cedric was constantly bullied at Hexley Hall and Roland stopped being his friend, Lorelei stayed.
He didn't saw her everyday because she studied in a different school and they were from different kingdoms, but they always spent some time together when Lorelei's family came to visit the kingdom, some little times per month, and whole travels around 1 or 2 times per year.
The frequency of Lorelei's family's presence at Enchancia Castle and the friendship she had with the princes sparked conversations about what a cute couple Lorelei could make with Roland when they grew up. And that wasn't a big deal for Cedric, because they all knew, from the start, that Roland and Lorelei would be a couple, whether it was due to an alliance of kingdoms, or even simply because they were very close and would look adorable together. When Cedric was little of course he was a little jealous of Lorelei with her friends, it wasn't romantic at all but rather the fact that he wanted to spend more time with her, since the other children already had enough friends and he didn't. And yes, he knew about the closeness between Roland and Lorelei, but Cedric didn't mind since he only saw himself as her friend, almost like how he felt with Cordelia some years ago.
As the years passed, Cedric continued to be mistreated. The children were growing up and Roland's behavior was becoming harsher towards Cedric. He wasn't a complete idiot, he was still the usual Roland as always, but now he was completely invested in the thought that Cedric was a bungler, and Cedric hated that. Cedric missed their friendship more than anything in this world. Due to the judgments of everyone, even his own family and classmates at Hexley Hall, Cedric became more reclusive and lonely, except for his raven Wormwood who was always by his side. Cedric wasn't rude and always felt less than others, apologizing for any minor inconvenience, but when he was alone he complained about the life he had, he was becoming bitter and reclusive.
Lorelei always tried to help Cedric and convince people to believe in him, but it didn't change his life, especially since she wasn't there every day. She tried to convince Roland to trust Cedric a little more, and also to apologize for the times he was harsher with him, which worked from time to time, but it didn't change the way Cedric and Roland thought about each other. On the other hand, Lorelei was getting closer to Roland and rumors about their romance were gaining more prominence as they got older. Cedric was worried, because despite knowing that Roland was a good person, he couldn't trust him because of the way Roland saw Cedric- even though he couldn't blame him for that, everyone saw him that way. He had concerns about his great friend Lorelei courting one of the people who made him feel so bad, but he knew that because Lorelei wasn't Cedric, Roland wouldn't be mean to her... which reassured him in some aspects, but in others it made him feel even worse.
Around Prince Roland's 17th birthday, King Roland I passed away. Although Roland was very young, the queen did not want to take the throne and neither did Princess Tilly, so Roland was the successor. He always wanted to be king and his family decided to give him that title, even if it was a little too soon. At this age, Lorelai had gained permission to travel alone between kingdoms and only needed to take a carriage, so she visited whenever she wanted. Due to Roland's grief and his new role as king, he was very tired and overwhelmed, and needed Lorelei's help more than ever. They got even closer to eachother and the feelings they were developing for quite some time now were starting to really show up.
Cedric however wasn't any better. His life remained the same and so did his frustration. But now there was an even worse little problem, a problem he had been struggling with since he was 13 years old. He was in love with Lorelei. Cedric felt like she was the only person who understood him, but not only that, she was the only one who was nice to him. Lorelei was like a morning breeze that brought him a breath of fresh air whenever he came into her presence. She was beautiful, polite, kind, and everything about her brought butterflies to his stomach. He had been trying to suppress it for a long time, but seeing her getting close to Roland broke his heart, and Cedric didn't even have the right to complain.
Everyone knew that even though they weren't officially a couple, Lorelei and Roland belonged to each other. Cedric on the other hand was just a newly appointed royal sorcerer, and was an idiot in his own right. He didn't think he was smart, attractive, talented, and he wasn't even royalty. A princess was way out of his league, especially one as beautiful and close to Roland as Lorelei. Instead of mourning his unrequited love, Cedric accepted that this was how it had to be and put himself in his place. But he couldn't help but feel his heart melt every time she hugged him and told him he was the best friend she could ever have.
Cedric kept his feelings to himself and let his friend live her life the way it should be, and the way she wants. He also remained bitter about the whole issue of his social life and wondered if people would recognize his value if he became the king, but how? The idea became his favorite daydream, not only because he wanted others to recognize him, but also to get revenge for what they did to him... and he knew that Lorelei would hate the idea. As he watched her, Cedric imagined what she would feel when she found out what he was up to with the kingdom she loved so much, and with Roland, so he kept that from her too.
While Lorelei strengthened her bond with Roland, Cedric still saw her and they were still great friends. Spending time with her made his mind light and he forgot about the problems in his life. They would stay in the gardens at night looking at the stars and talking about how they were feeling about life, things that were happening in each other's kingdoms, and generally taking a break from the routine. And many of those times Cedric felt like kissing her, ending once and for all what he felt in his chest... but he couldn't bring himself to do it. She wouldn't want to have anything with someone like him, and even if she wanted, she couldn't. Sometimes, in those same moments, he felt that Lorelei wanted him back too, but he knew he was just being deluded.
Extra paragraph (you can consider it part of the story or not): In one of these nights, however, something happened between them. The night was so peaceful and they were feeling so comfortable with each other that they shared their first kiss. The moment was like a dream ā but one that Cedric immediately needed to interrupt as soon as their display of affection finished, because he couldn't let it develop into something bigger, and he couldn't let himself believe that he had a chance with her. Furthermore, Lorelei was Roland's and there was no debate about that, even if they weren't even courting yet, Lorelai was not and could never be his. Lorelei apologized to him immediately, knowing how sudden this was, and Cedric did the same. They never spoke about that again.
It didn't take long for the news that Roland and Lorelei were courting to spread throughout the castle and both kingdoms. Everyone loved the couple, even the villagers, and they had everything they needed to be the sweetest royal couple in decades, after all, the people were waiting for their romance to happen for years.
It was around the age of 25 that Roland and Lorelei announced their marriage. Cedric was happy for them, he was genuinely happy for Lorelei's happiness (maybe not for Roland's though), despite pushing his feelings aside. It was during an afternoon that Lorelei went to him to ask to be the best man at her wedding, and despite really wanting to refuse, Cedric couldn't bring himself to do it. She was his best friend and they grew up together. It was clear that this wasn't Roland's idea, because he would never choose an idiot to have such an important role on their wedding ā But Lorelei, on the other way, always defended him from Roland. And then Cedric accepted, and the wedding was beautiful.
Roland and Lorelei rode throughout the village in a carriage, complete with rice throwing and music, alongside the commoners who shouted their names in chorus or stuff like "long live the king and queen!". It was amazing to see, and Cedric was happy for them, especially for Lorelei, who looked beautiful in her wedding dress and happier than she could ever be if she were with Cedric.
A few years later, at their late 20s, Roland and Lorelei tried to have successors. They didn't tell anyone about this for obvious reasons, until the situation started to become frustrating, and they no longer knew what to do. They consulted doctors, and Lorelai herself asked Cedric for a magic potion or spell that might just make it work, but it was no use (and, well, that was indeed something unsettling for him to know). Roland and Lorelei had already given up, and soon after, Lorelei simply started having dizziness and symptoms, and then they discovered that it was true, they were expecting a baby. The entire kingdom celebrated with joy, and Cedric, even though it hurt a bit, also did. Lorelei was very happy, and for that, he was glad.
Time passed and several months later, Lorelei went into labor. It was a very complicated procedure for the doctors who were present, of course. They suspected something wasn't right as soon as they started, and after a very difficult and painful afternoon, she had two twins, one 7 minutes apart from the other. She saw her two children and was so happy to have them, and the names she was previously deciding on whether she would have a boy or a girl were now both being used. King Roland was called and some other important people too, like Tilly, Baileywick, the former queen, and Lorelei's family, who were informed about the labor a few hours earlier. Everything was going great, but then Lorelei kept complaining of constant pain, and she wouldn't stop bleeding.
The meeting for the birth of the heirs, then, became something darker than it should have been. The doctors examined her and found that she was bleeding too much, and that unfortunately, they couldn't do anything. Maybe in another time, where medicine was more advanced, but not in Enchancia yet. They informed her and her family that, with the way it was going, Lorelei would not survive until tomorrow, or even until that day's night. The gathering for the birth of the babies became a condolence gathering for the Queen on her deathbed. That's how Cedric came slamming the door, and running until he knelt next to Lorelei. She was pale as a ghost, as if the joy on her face had disappeared.
With her lying there, on the verge of death, Cedric wanted to tell her the truth, but he couldn't. He couldn't do that, even if the room was empty and there were only the two of them there. Cedric couldn't see her like this, and after saying goodbye to her, he returned to his tower at dusk because he couldn't stand there and watch her die. And then, as the doctors said, Lorelei died as soon as night fell.
Cedric looked for many to blame. At first, Cedric had hatred for the twins, because if it weren't for them tearing her body in half, Lorelei would still be alive and full of light. But after his conscience took over, Cedric understood that it made no sense to be angry at such innocent beings for an unfortunate incident, especially Lorelei's children, who she loved so much and wanted so much to have. Instead, for a time, Cedric hated Roland, because if there hadn't been this miserable tradition of always having to create heirs for the throne, Lorelei would still be alive too. But in the end he knew that this was stupid too, since Lorelei always loved children and wanted these babies so much.
He was angry with Roland, but that's always been the case. He wanted to blame him for all the problems in his life, but he knew he couldn't. Roland didn't know that his wife would die too, and he also loved her as much as Cedric did. In truth, there was no one to blame in Lorelei's death, and things happened simply because that's life. It took Cedric a while to accept this, but he did.
(And if at the time he ended up finding out that Lorelei was only pregnant because Roland made a wish at a wishing well, even though he knew she was incapable of having children, Cedric would have had a big fight with him. Not a fight of words, but one of shouting, pushing, punching and who knows even worse. It would be a violent fight where at least one of them would be bedridden, and in Cedric's case, in the dungeon).
Over time, Lorelei's absence in his life was painful, but it certainly eased as time passed... However, on the other hand, unfortunately now Cedric was alone with Roland's (and the whole kingdom) ignorant comments. He had no one else to find comfort in, no one to understand him, just Wormwood- the crow, and only friend of his for a long time. Increasingly lonely and increasingly distant from social life, Cedric became a bitter and sullen sorcerer. The desires he always had to take the throne remained stronger than ever, and he always tried to find a way to achieve them, while he sank deeper and deeper into his loneliness and unhealthy habits, which he always had too, but which got worse after Lorelei's death, and he didn't even notice.
Cedric didn't like spending time with the young princes, both because he didn't like children, children are to messy and he can't stand loud cries, he didn't get along with them and the king's children reminded him a lot of Lorelei (and her death). As time passed and the wound healed, the reasons became more about the fact that he didn't know how to deal with children, despite sometimes seeing the queen in some of the heirs' traits.
As he became more and more self-centered and moody, King Roland remarried, this time to a commoner named Miranda, who soon became the queen. Just a week after her wedding ceremony, there was the arrival of the new Princess Sofia and the expectation of a ball in her honor in a few days.
As a gift from her new father, Sofia received the amulet of Avalor, which immediately made Cedric attracted to its magical properties and the use he could make of it in taking the throne. What he didn't know was that this little girl would be the cause of change in his life, and that in her he would have the friend he hadn't had for many, many years.

A that reader is affectionate and understanding. She's takes care of the royal kids and would do anything to keep them safe. So she doesn't know of Cedric plans b/c he knows she'll try to stop him. His plans succeed and the reader runs away to safety? Few years later the reader and Cedric are reunited, but under grim circumstances.
I'm basically asking for angst. I've just been in the mood for it.
The Reckoning of Hearts | Cedric X Reader (Angst)

Enchancia had fallen. Once a kingdom of enchanting beauty and unwavering prosperity, it now stood as a reminder of the malevolent overturn led by the sorcerer. In the days of old, Enchancia was once known for its lush landscapes, bright skies, ethereal flora, and a radiating positive vibe that was felt by all of the people who lived there. All but for one.
An outcast, Cedric was a target of ridicule and scorn, for his abilities were not like his ancestorsā. His magic was untamed and unpredictable, often leading to accidents that left the villagers resentful, and the royal family disappointed. Since he was a boy, he was teased mercilessly, and with each form of mockery, Cedricās heart grew heavy with each cruel word and teasing laugh.
Years of dealing with the torment changed Cedric. His once kind and gentle nature gave way to bitterness and resentment. He grew obsessed with power, determined to prove himself to all those who ever doubted him. Months of locking himself up in his dingy tower, studying ancient books, desperate to find a way to strengthen his powers. As he studied, the malevolent force took root within his heart, and his once optimistic eyes darkened with an insatiable thirst for revenge.
You were the first obstacle in Cedricās road to rule. You were recently hired by the King as a nanny of sorts, tasked with the responsibility of babysitting the children, escorting them to events, and being a general companion and role model as they grew up. Cedric first met you on your first day - not that he particularly wanted to, but as āroyal sorcererā, he was obligated to attend all royal ceremonies and perform some extravagant show like a lion in a circus. He expected the event to be dull and sour, but he didnāt expect to feel his heart soften so much when he saw you. You were a stark contrast to the sorcerer, a sight for sore eyes. You filled the palace with your warmth, your laughter and your powerful ability to put up with the energetic children so much. The two of you would interact often, as Cedric was often dragged out of the safety of his tower by the new princess. Unbeknownst to Cedric, he found himself inexplicably drawn to your presence. Your kindness and innocence began to chip away at the walls around his heart, and he struggled to suppress the warmth he felt whenever he was around you.
He hated you. Cedric could not stand the vulnerable way you made him feel. How you sent him into a spiral of doubt about himself and his plans whenever you even gazed in his direction. He could not stand you.
Alas, your kindness was not enough to thaw the coldness that had developed within Cedric. His plans of stealing the amulet from Sofia had finally, finally succeeded, and he unleashed his dark magic upon the kingdom immediately. Imprisoning the royal couple, Enchancia was plunged into darkness, its once vibrant colours fading to shades of grey. Cedric was consumed by the anger and despair that had fogged his heart for so long, and had allowed himself to be taken over by the negativity.
You had acted fast, but not fast enough to prevent the royal coupleās imprisonment. Eager to protect the children, you had no choice but to flee the kingdom to Avalor, taking the royal children under your wing. You were welcomed with open arms, the royals vowing to protect yourself and the children, promising and reassuring no harm would ever come to you. But your heart was shattered. Utterly broken.
It had been three years since the fall of Enchancia, and you had never given up hope. The devastation of your heartbreak fuelled determination. As the years passed, a glimmer of hope began to stir within your heart. You led a group of brave and resilient individuals who sought to free the royal couple from Cedricās tyranny. You were desperate to return the childrenās parents to them safely, freeing them from the bitter ruling of a man you once thought you loved. Together, yourself and the group embarked on a perilous quest to restore Enchancia.
Cedric had all but forgotten about his adoration for you as the years went past. His heart grew colder every passing day, focusing solely on maintaining his tyrannical grip over the kingdom, and strengthening his powers.
A crisp autumn night, the moon hung low in the sky. Cedric sat on the throne, the room dusk with shadows and lit up by the twinkle of the night. Silence. Silence. Footsteps. He looked up. A cloaked figure stood before him, their eyes filled with both sorrow and determination. You raised your head and made eye contact with the man. His heart skipped a beat. When their eyes met, time seemed to stand still. Cedric could hardly believe his eyes, for there stood the person he once loved. You were worn down with the journey and the weight of your travels, but you still possessed a beauty that could rival the most enchanting sunrise.
As the memories of their love came flooding back, Cedric was overcome with a torrent of conflicting emotions ā remorse for the path he had chosen, anger at himself for betraying you, and an overwhelming sense of wanting to be near you, wanting to justify and explain himself to you. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. You looked at him with cold eyes, and a straight face, a wave of hatred rushing over you as you took in his appearance. The crown on his head was too big, and he was remarkably skinnier. His face was slim and his fingers tapped the arms of the throne idly as he gazed at you with a gaping mouth.
Silence again.
āWhere are they?ā
Your voice filled the silence of the room loudly, startling Cedric out of his trance.
āIā what?ā
You snarled at his patheticness, at how weak and stupid he sounded as he looked at you with confusion.
āThe king and queen. Where are they?ā You asked again, stepping closer to Cedric slowly as you put your hand in your pocket. Unbeknownst to Cedric, you had been taking magic lessons from the Royal Sorcerer in Avalor, and had grown to possess a healthy power, enough to battle Cedric if needed.
Cedric wasnāt stupid. He knew what you were doing, he knew what you had planned as soon as you put your hand into your pocket. His face grew cold once more as he realised that, you too, doubted him. You still saw him as the pathetic sorcerer he once was. You never believed in him, in fact, you probably agreed with everyone too, laughed at their mocking jokes behind his back. He laughed to himself quietly as he realised what you wanted, and found it humorous how you thought you could take over him so easily.
āMy dear, you havenāt learnt a thing, have you not? Look around.ā He stood from the throne and held his arms out, gesturing to the empty room.
āI am in control. Whatever mere spells youāve got up your sleeve are pointless against me.ā
He smirked as he drew his wand, muttering a spell and drawing you close to him with the force that expelled from the tip of it. Your faces were inches away as you grunted and groaned with frustration, dropping your own wand and being overcome with the inability to move from his force. His breath felt hot against your face as you looked into his cold, dead eyes. There was nothing there. Nothing but hatred and despair.
āItās laughable, really. I hadnāt thought about you for years, and here you are. I could do whatever I wanted to you.ā
He whispered, stroking a slender finger down your cheek as you struggled. Tears began to well in your eyes as the determination shattered, the realisation kicking in that this is how it would be.
āSilence, my dear? You looked as though you had a lot to say.ā Cedric teased, his hand finding his way to your hair as he stroked it.
āDonāt worry, weāll have plenty of time to talk. Youāre going nowhere.ā

Thought I'd share the beginning of a long fanfiction chapter for the Sofia the First fandom! Takes place in the beginning of Season 2 and introduces a new face to the cast. Someone even more infamous than Cedric?
Also just a heads up that it's slightly darker than its upbeat source material. Nothing worse than the darkest Disney movies š
In the magical world of the EverRealm, curses were just as abundant as the magic that created them. Sprouting up from just about any corner of the world. As much as magic benefitted those who lived with it, it was still quite volatile and dangerous in these circumstances. To have one person be affected by a curse was already a serious problem depending on the severity. But a whole town? Civilization?
To be cursed is to be punished. Be that by a divine being or powerful magic. In most cases, the latter is far more common.Ā
A curse that affected a large land mass was only slightly more common than natural disasters. Even those were often said to be born from magical disturbances. But few people were capable of stopping them solely on their own.
Enchancia was currently under the influence of a widespread curse; nearly the entire kingdom was affected. This was dubbed as the curse of Eternal Night. It was not as harmful as other curses, but still caused unrest within the kingdom. When crops and fauna began to wither, the king knew that he had to take drastic measures to bring sunlight back to the lands.
King Roland the Second was quick to act since day one of this curse. His first order was to send out knights to patrol the kingdom for any signs of foul sorcery. Right after he sent them off, he then turned to someone who specialized in the manner of all things magic. This was of course the kingdom's very own royal sorcerer, Cedric.Ā
Despite being the kingdom's royal sorcerer, not a lot of people put much faith in him to do things right. Spells going awry was a common occurrence. Of course, he would get things correct eventually, but not until after everyone bore witness to the failures. Thus it was no surprise to him when he was not able to produce results for the root cause of the curse even after a week.Ā
While the kingdom itself was able to receive imports from its neighboring monarchies and the people were able to take in sunlight by leaving the kingdom's borders, it was still in a state of crisis. With not even the moon or stars illuminating the sky, it sunk the morale of the usually upbeat locals. Not only that but it caused disarray among the commoners who did not have clocks in their homes. The only sort of light that bloomed in the kingdom was the flickering of torches and candles alike.
By the time the two week mark hit, the people's panic continued to grow. Local flora was beginning to die and leaves had begun to fall off trees. Even with the kingdom's best efforts, no one was able to locate the cause of this curse nor knew of a way to stop it. Not even Princess Sofia's assistance was enough to aid the kingdom this time. So King Roland was left with no other choice than to seek help from outside Enchancia.
When other kingdoms became aware of Enchancia's plight, they did their best to offer support and advice. However none could truly do anything in regards to the curse itself. Unfortunately, it was decided that the kingdom was in dire need of a professional to deal with the issue at hand. And there was only one such person who was readily available to be contacted at any given time.
A curse exorcist. That is what they call sorcerers who devote their lives to the study and elimination of curses. There were few who existed in the world, but those who did were dedicated to their craft. One in particular was widely known to have a notably high success rate in vanquishing every curse they came across. Eris the Accursed.
King Roland had just informed this to his family during another dinner illuminated by candlelight. While this was supposed to be a good thing, many appeared skeptical at first. After all, it was not too long ago with their last encounter with a sorceress. She was proven to be a fraud in the end, but it still put a damper on expectations.
The youngest child could only smile at the news. This was no time to be sad after all. If it was a chance to cure the kingdom, how could she not be ecstatic?
āThen that's great! She'll be able to make the darkness go away!ā Sofia smiled with excitement as there was finally a promising lead on putting an end to the curse. Her stepfather did not share the same enthusiasm.
āShe is still a dangerous woman, Sofia. There is a reason she is called Eris the Accursed. Inviting her into the kingdom may only bring more trouble,ā Roland explained to her as the girl's blue eyes went back down to her food.
Queen Miranda looked towards her daughter with understanding as she placed a hand against Sofia's back. Sofia was truly a girl pure of heart and always sought to see the best in people. But, like her husband, she too was cautious of this curse exorcist.
āYou've always been a very kind girl, Sofia. But as your father says, she is not a person we can trust so easily. We'll just have to hope for the best upon her arrival,ā Miranda said in that naturally soothing voice she had that seemed to put everyone in a better mood. At least until the twins added their thoughts on the topic.
āSo, is she actually super evil?ā James piped up with curiosity. His question had visibly worried his twin sister. Before Roland could answer him, his eldest daughter spoke first.
āShe won't try to harm us, will she?ā Amber whimpered, thinking about some evil villainess showing up with the goal of taking over the kingdom. It seemed unlikely that would happen, but it was still a cause for concern.Ā
Roland sighed as he crossed his arms. In his mind he was thinking that this was a risk they would have to take. But to pacify the worried faces of the children, he had to downplay his own concerns.
āAs long as you don't go near her alone, everything will be fine. She wouldn't dare to do anything like that with an audience. None of the rumors have mentioned her being so bold,ā Roland explained to them which seemed to ease Amber a little. But only more questions popped up.
āRumors?ā the young Sofia spoke up, prompting her stepfather to sigh. He supposed there was no reason to keep these from them. In fact, it would only encourage them to maintain their distance from Erisāshould she arrive in Enchancia.
Roland sighed again, realizing there was little point in withholding the truth from them. āYes, rumors,ā he began, his voice lowering as if the shadows themselves might be listening. āThe most well-known one is that townsfolk have reported their neighbors going missing after interacting with a woman dressed in a dark cloakā¦ā
Let me know if you have any thoughts!

Sofia the First Appreciation Week: Days 7 and 8.
Day 7: The Magic of Change
I think that the most important moment in which Sofia grew is in the own "Forever Royal" finale, as she took account of all what she learned during all of the show, and she even dared to risk anything to not only save her family, but also, to save all of Enchancia and the Ever Realm.
Oh, and in "Mom's The Word", Sofia learned that not everything stays the same forever, too.
Day 8: A Magical Legacy
Dear Princess Sofia,
Ever since I've seen your adventures, I haven't been the same as before, and I'm pretty sure that your adventures had such a great influence in our generation.
You teached us lots of good lessons, some of them pretty important, and I'm pretty sure that some people live by them by now, which's quite good, in fact.
Through, three of the biggest lessons are the ones that more people should have in count.
Anything can be a "princess thing", that is, inspiring lots of women to do things that are normally associated with men.
Don't prejudge people for what they are in the first place, give them a chance first.
Anyone deserves a second chance, as long as they don't do horrible things.
Oh, and another one:
4. Keep moving forward and don't ever surrender if you want your wishes to be made a reality.
And that's it.
Thank you, Princess Sofia, for all the hours of fun, cuteness, wholesomeness and awesomeness, and I'm looking forward to see you again, and your friends (and hopefully Lucinda, too) on 2026.
See you later, Princess Sofia.
Sincerely, Lex_Light.

Come here, if the wishing well near the castle is all about that "get what you want and lose what you have" vibe.
WHY DID NOBODY DISAPPEAR WITH THAT THING?
Close it with stones, put a wall around it, destroy it or at least hide it and put up a huge DANGER sign! DO NOT USE IT!
( King Stefan, Aurora's father, made a point of destroying ALL THE SPINNING WINDS IN HIS KINGDOM! No one would make any more fabric for at least sixteen years! They would have to spend buying fabric from outside the kingdom, or mending old rags all this time. And even so,Maleficent's magic created a spinning wheel that completed the curse.)
But what about the other wishing wells? Are they normal? Because they do not appear in a negative light in Enchancia's anthem, in fact, they are portrayed in a positive light. Therefore, demonstrating that only the wishing well in the possession of the royal family of Enchancia has this flaw in its operating conditions.
Headcanon:
The wishing well was sabotaged with evil magic, to harm the royal family that used it.
And those responsible for the corruption of the wishing well are conspirators against the crown, and are members of the Order of the Wand.
And that's why it's the only one with questionable functioning.
I even deduce that it was one of the first attempts by the Order of the Wand to weaken one of the kingdoms, to take power from the throne.
( I don't think it was Cedric who did this, even he has ethical limits. If he were the author, he would have done something unforgivable.)
But, I believe it must have been another magic user close enough to the family to know that Roland would use the well, perhaps even being the advisor himself who suggested the use of the magical artifact, being the author of its corruption.
Perhaps, the author didn't even need to be a magic user or be magical in the first place , just make a wish for the well to change its own magic.
So that it, in the fulfillment of wishes, now took as payment something that would be most missed by those who made their request.
In a kind of equivalent exchange: the author of the request to fulfill his own desires, would lose one of his most valuable possessions.
But why would anyone be interested in harming Roland and Lorelei's family?
To prevent the birth of new direct heirs to the throne.
Since Roland had already assumed the crown, Enchancia's official bloodline would b now traced from his children onwards. And not by his sister Tilly's heirs, as she had already abdicated the throne.
By killing the queen and the kids in childbirth, they would end the bloodline of the official crown of Enchancia . Or at least they would delay it enough, before the king remarried and have other children as heirs to the throne.
Since then, this would emotionally destabilize the king, to the point of weakening the kingdom consequently. It is easier then to carry out attempts to take the throne of Enchancia.
But, as only the queen Lorelei died during childbirth, leaving twin children Amber and James, this would put the king on alert for all users of magic and magical artifacts, making him more difficult to be tricked by members of the Order of the Wand.
So the Order of the Wand would have to wait for a more opportune moment, having to start over and change their strategies to resume plans to take the throne of Enchancia for themselfs.

Did I miss something or was it never explained why Cedric became the royal sorcerer and not Cordelia?
Cordelia is Cedric's older sister. If the royal sorcerer lineage runs anything like that of the royal family, why was Cedric--the younger sibling--made the royal sorcerer of Enchancia and not Cordelia?
On top of that, even if it does go that the boys are the next in line, Cedric was still known for being a "bungler", so why wasn't something done to prevent him from becoming part of the royal staff?
Cedric is literally the best, but Cordelia--with the knowledge the kingdom had before 'Through the Looking-Back Glass'--would have been a much better candidate for being the royal sorcerer.
Please tell me if I missed something, I honestly may have. I'm just really curious if it was ever explained.

Cedric x mermaid or siren s/o head cannons?
Yes yes yes?!! I think about the mermaid episodes of StF religiously, and with the new live action little mermaid movie that came out, it was rotting my brain for a while.
I'll try to stick to the canon of StF, but there wasn't much mermaid lore in the show so I may take a smidge of artistic liberty with these.
Anyways enjoy!
____________________________________
Cedric X Mermaid/Siren SO Head canons!
šššššššš
šššššššš
The night you two met, a terrible storm suddenly appeared in Merroway Cove while the royal family was visiting, with Cedric once again being forced to tag along
The royal family was obviously the first to be escorted into the floating palace to ensure their safety
However, Cedric was unaccounted for- and Roland refused to let anyone look for him (another common King Roland L š)
Cue you, a siren who lived on your own, away from the mermaid kingdom, was out hunting for a meal
Well you certainly found a meal of sorts
Cedric was passed out, floating aimlessly in the sea when you found him
You brought him back to your cave, using your siren magic to draw the water from his lungs
Cedric stirs awake, his body responding to your siren spell
Seeing him awaken, you panic, swimming off to hide yourself- after all, humans weren't kind to mermaids. Let alone sirens
But still, something in you was captivated by the man, so you stayed nearby- just until he's found, you told yourself
Cedric was eventually rescued, with him using his remaining strength to tell everyone on the floating palace that he was rescued by this "enchanting, haunting, beautiful voice that saved him from drowning"
The following weeks, neither of you could leave each other's thoughts
Cedric was in denial that he could possibly be in love- constantly saying "I just wish to thank them" you poor fool you're spellbound by a sirens song
You, on the other hand, was constantly swimming in mermaid waters- risking getting caught by mermaid guards just to see if the royal family was ever visiting
One day, you saw that same ship from that stormy night
Swimming closer, you're too distracted by the notion of seeing Cedric again to notice the mermaid guards closing in on you
Which, causes a scene for both the mermaids visiting the royal family, and for the royal family themselves being fearful of your kind
Until Cedric steps in, saying that you were the one who rescued him, convincing both the mermaid queen and king Roland to... At least let you go
Later that same night, you're resting in your cave when you see a mysterious merman approach the mouth of your cave
You hesitantly approach, just to find out it's cedric
One lengthy explanation later about how he transformed himself into a merman, he properly introduced himself and told you why he came all this way- to thank you for saving his life when no one else would've bothered to
You couldn't really remember the last time someone ever thanked you- and a stranger, no less
The rest of that night, the two of you talked about your individual lives, and the things that you would only feel comfortable disclosing in the cover of night, beneath the limitless depths of the ocean
This definitely was the night the two of you fell in love
After that night, you two tried just seeing each other when the royal family would visit on their yearly summer vacations, or communicate through magical letters in bottles- but quickly, you both realized that just yearly visits were not enough whatsoever
So, you decided to leave the cove for good- after all, it's not like you would've been missed by the mermaids, and sirens lead solitary lives; it made the most sense for you to move closer to cedric
You made your journey to the bay that surrounded the castle of enchancia, and found another cave you could renovate to become your home
Anyways
Now to relationship hcs!
Imagine seeing Cedric from his tower working late into the night, like always, and while you try to let him work, sometimes you can't resist luring him outside with your siren voice
Which Cedric hates interruptions in his work flow, but you're one of the very few exceptions
Sitting along the coast that surrounded the castle, talking for hours about your day are definitely a staple in your relationship
Cedric would also use his transformation spell to join you underneath the water at night, so you two won't be interrupted by his duties during the day
You'd show him all the best foraging locations you've found on your exploration of the kingdoms Bay, along with your favorite hunting spots
You'd also be on the lookout for things littered on the ocean floor to decorate your new home, and you discovered Cedric has a keen eye for detail so y'all always have a good haul
Cue the cave decorating montage!! That's super sweet and cute!!
Giving each other little trinkets from each other's world!!!
Shells, pearls, fossils, cute sea plants, sea glass, all things and more you would offer cedric
In turn, Cedric would give you metal scraps (to help you create tools easier) tiny statuettes of siren motifs he would buy for you, little bottles and jars of different colors, and give you flowers he enchanted to be able to live underwater
Whenever Cedric needed a specific item that came from the sea, you would always volunteer to fetch it for him
He of course would decline, because he didn't want you to be in a dangerous situation, but did you do it anyways?
Yes.
The two of you laying next to each other on the shoreline, looking up at the stars
You teach him the constellations you use to navigate the sea, and (he ruins the fun /j) by explaining how stars worked
On the rare occasion Cedric wasn't working at night, sleeplessness would bring him back to the shoreline
And you'd be there, like you always are, to cradle his head and run your fingers through his hair while you sang him a siren's lullaby
Speaking of your siren song- Cedric isn't bothered by your siren nature in the slightest. After all, it's not your fault that your magic indirectly affects humans
Nor is it your fault that "humans are fools" (Cedric's direct words, it makes you chuckle every time you think about it)
You then responded "does this include you as well, Cedric?" And he got serious for a second and asked "do you think I'm a fool for loving you?"
You just replied "all people are fools when they're in love- me included. But I think I like it." Then you proceeded to kiss him
Yes this was your first kiss canon event
Cedric adores your tail, constant compliments on its sheen, display of color, the way your fins look are always expected at this point
You compliment his eyes, his hair, how handsome he is
While Cedric joins you in your world, the more you two spend time together, the more you wish you could join him on the surface, just for a day
It takes a lot of courage, but you finally ask if there's a spell he can cast to make you a human for a day
About two weeks later, he presents the potion you asked for
You then meet the Sofia he tells you about constantly, and instantly you see why he boasts about her
You were never sure how you felt about children, but boy did Sofia leave an excellent first impression
You learn very quickly that Sofia can transform into a mermaid- and sometimes she would visit you for a quick chat, or to plan surprises with you for Cedric
Seeing the way you interact with Sofia somehow makes cedric even more smitten
The rest of that day, Cedric shows you his workshop, the castle library, his favorite spots in the castle garden, and y'all go back to the shore to chill until the spell wears off
You were overwhelmed by everything, but in a good way
After that, being in your siren form started to feel... More lonely
Cedric began noticing your songs sounding more melancholy, and asked about it eventually
You told him how you felt, and he offered to make a surplus of spells for you so you could visit whenever you wanted
Ofc you say yes, properly thanking him with a kiss
Then Cedric spent the night with you in your cave so you wouldn't feel alone
Cuddling together in your giant bed of kelp, sea moss and seal skin<<<<<
When the potions are done, Cedric lets you know immediately and you ask if you could spend the night in his workshop š¤
Cue the ONE TIME Cedric would willingly clean his workshop (only for you)
Which you called him out for anyways cuz you found it cute
I'll leave what happened in Cedric's workshop up to your imagination ;)
While spending one day as a human isn't totally obvious to the rest of the castle occupants, they do start to question your presence and the king and queen learn of your existence
Cedric really didn't want that to happen- not because he was ashamed of you, but because he didn't want others to ruin the perfect relationship he had found with you
Unfortunately, the king and queen left him no choice but to tell the truth
Shockingly, they didn't sound that surprised???
But still wanted to properly meet you, so they asked Cedric to show you to them so they could formally invite you to dinner to meet the whole royal family
You were nervous about meeting them, but you were even more nervous to refuse a Royal's request
So you went
And while the royal family asked some... Insensitive questions out of ignorance, they were very welcoming, and happy that you and Cedric were happy
Alright that's about all I got, loll
I really liked imagining these hcs
They really just wrote themselves atp
Thank u sm anon!!

Analysis of King Roland and Cedric in Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess
Once Upon a Princess introduces us to the world of Enchancia and sets the stage for the relationships between its key characters, including King Roland II and Cedric. While their interactions are limited in this special, thereās enough subtext to analyze their dynamic and how it reflects their history, personalities, and future growth in the series.
King Roland II: The Benevolent Monarch
Personality Traits: Roland is presented as kind, family-oriented, and deeply committed to his role as king and father. His warmth toward Sofia and his eagerness to integrate her into the royal family highlight his good intentions and desire to do right by his loved ones. However, his judgment of Cedric appears somewhat dismissive, reflecting deeper issues in their relationship.
Interactions with Cedric:
- Roland views Cedric as more of an eccentric court figure than a trusted ally. His dismissive attitude is subtly shown through his tone and body language during Cedricās failed attempts to gain attention.
- When Cedric tries to offer magical assistance, Roland brushes him off or redirects focus elsewhere, implying a lack of faith in Cedric's abilities. This highlights a long-standing imbalance in their relationship: Cedric is eager to prove himself, while Roland does not take him seriously.
Implications for the Future:
- Rolandās behavior toward Cedric sets the stage for the latterās resentment. The lack of acknowledgment from someone Cedric likely grew up admiring reinforces Cedricās insecurities and fuels his desire to prove his worth, even through questionable means.
Cedric the Sorcerer: The Overlooked Genius
Personality Traits: Cedric is portrayed as a highly skilled, if somewhat clumsy, sorcerer who is desperate for recognition. His theatrical demeanor and frustration over being overlooked contrast sharply with his genuine potential, making him both a source of comic relief and a sympathetic figure.
Interactions with Roland:
- Cedricās interactions with Roland are marked by a mix of deference and subtle bitterness. Despite his outward respect, Cedricās sarcastic tone when speaking about his role as ājust the royal sorcererā hints at his frustration with Rolandās lack of trust.
- Cedricās ambitions to take over the kingdom are driven, in part, by his belief that Roland doesnāt see his value. The dynamic between them feels like a tragic misunderstanding: Roland underestimates Cedric, and Cedric misinterprets this as a lack of respect rather than a reflection of Rolandās cautious nature.
Implications for the Future:
- Cedricās frustration with Roland is a key motivator for his villainous tendencies early in the series. However, this tension also sets up opportunities for growth, as their relationship evolves through mutual understanding and acknowledgment.
Key Moments in Once Upon a Princess
1. Cedricās Introduction
Cedricās first appearance establishes his role as the royal sorcerer and hints at his internal conflict. His exaggerated gestures and eagerness to assist suggest a desperate need for validation, especially from Roland. However, Rolandās casual dismissal of Cedricās magical offer is emblematic of their strained relationship.
- Analysis: This moment shows how Cedricās talent is overshadowed by his clumsiness and Rolandās preconceived notions. Rolandās dismissal may not be malicious, but it reinforces Cedricās belief that he is undervalued.
2. Rolandās Trust in Others Over Cedric
Throughout the special, Roland is quick to trust other figures, such as Sofia, rather than rely on Cedric. For example, Roland entrusts Sofia with handling key situations while Cedric remains relegated to the background.
- Analysis: This dynamic illustrates the trust gap between Roland and Cedric. While Roland may see Cedric as competent in minor tasks, he does not view him as reliable for larger responsibilitiesāa perception that likely stems from Cedricās history of missteps.
3. Cedricās Frustration
Cedricās muttered remarks about being unappreciated and his growing ambition to steal Sofiaās amulet reveal his internal struggle. These moments show how Cedricās insecurities drive him toward darker paths, as he feels the only way to gain respect is through power.
- Analysis: Cedricās frustration stems not just from Rolandās dismissiveness but also from his own fear of failure. His aspirations for greatness are deeply tied to his desire for Rolandās recognition, making their relationship pivotal to his character arc.
Underlying Themes in Their Relationship
1. Recognition and Validation
Cedric craves acknowledgment, particularly from Roland, who represents both a childhood friend and an authority figure. Rolandās failure to see Cedricās potential feeds into Cedricās feelings of inadequacy, creating a cycle of resentment.
2. Miscommunication
Much of the tension between Roland and Cedric could be resolved through open communication. Rolandās dismissive attitude is not necessarily intentional but reflects a lack of awareness about how deeply it affects Cedric.
3. Potential for Redemption
The seeds of Cedricās redemption are already planted in Once Upon a Princess. While Cedric begins with villainous intentions, his longing for respect and acknowledgment hints at his capacity for change. Rolandās eventual recognition of Cedricās value is key to this transformation.
What This Means for the Series
The relationship between King Roland and Cedric is a cornerstone of Sofia the First, particularly as it evolves from mistrust and frustration to mutual respect and understanding. Once Upon a Princess establishes the foundation of their dynamic, highlighting Cedricās potential as both a villain and a redeemable character.
Through their interactions, the show explores themes of self-worth, trust, and the importance of seeing beyond surface-level flaws to recognize someoneās true potentialāa journey that ultimately defines Cedricās arc and his relationship with Roland.

'StF Appreciation Week' Prompts
Day 1 - A Royal Heart
Sofia has proven time and time again that she has the heart of a true princess. Uncommonly kind, selfless, and loyal, she always goes out of her way to help others however she can, make their day better, or save the day- even if it inconveniences her or risks her life! She embraced her true nature from the start, with the help of the lessons of all the other legendary princesses, and learned that being a true princess is far more about doing what is good and right than tea parties or fan-fluttering.
By the end of the series, she came so, so far from the unsure princess new to royal life in 'Once Upon a Princess'- overwhelmed and scared of not belonging in either the royal family or at Royal Prep- to strong and confident! Two of my favorite examples of this in the finale 'Forever Royal' are:
(1) At the Royal Prep graduation ceremony, she gave a speech about everything she learned, all the friends she made who helped and inspired her, and finished it off with the Royal Prep school song (which was a fitting callback to 'Once Upon a Princess' when the fairies and her classmates sung that to her as a brand-new student new to royal life, symbolizing how far she'd come since then).
Graduation š at Royal preparatory Academy -Sofia the first š„
And (2) during the AMAZING song For One And All when Sofia reminded Roland and the rest of her family that "being royal means being loyal", not just to their own family, but the entire kingdom who counted on them! She reminded them that when you're royal, the entire kingdom is your family, and they had to stay and fight for them all instead of fleeing Enchancia. She told them she was willing to fight Vor to save Enchancia, even if it cost her her own life. (At first, Roland and Miranda were horrified at the thought of Sofia risking her life, but once Sofia made up her mind and went back to fight, the rest of the family were inspired to go after her and fight alongside her).
I'M TELLING YOU, THIS SONG MAKES ME CRY. Sofia the First - For One and All
Sofia is a remarkable person, full of courage and strength, wise beyond her years, and she is an inspiration to everyone she meets. She touches people's lives and brings out the best in them (including, of course, Amber; her own arc through the series to the very end was remarkable).
Day 2 - Friendship Above All
One of Sofia's closest friends is Cedric. From the very beginning, she saw the very best in him, and she ended up wriggling her way into his heart with her boundless kindness and support (which he desperately needed). She gradually inspired him to change and realize her friendship was far more important than his misguided dreams of power. She constantly brought out the best in him.
One of my absolute favorite scenes that highlights their friendship is in 'Day of the Sorcerers' when she confronts him in prison after his treachery. Despite how hurt she was, she still believed the best in him! She told him the worst thing he did was actually denying their friendship, which she knew wasn't true. Sofia reminded Cedric of all the great things he did for her, all the times he helped her, and that only a great friend and a great sorcerer could have done all that. Sofia knew all his good acts spoke louder than his betrayal. This caused Cedric to deeply apologize to Sofia in his remorse, overwhelmed by her words; from then on, he was a changed man.
And Sofia strongly advocated to Roland to pardon his treachery, again showing that she forgave him and knew his heart was truly good. She truly understood the kind of person he was, that he never really wanted power or to hurt anyone.
They've been there for each other so many times. And, of course, Cedric's greatest act would be rallying everyone together and using all his magic to save Sofia in the finale! He saved her after she saved him from a path of darkness!
