Happy Path to Nowhere 2nd Anniversary! I was watching the stream and the last part, the cat animation, made my heart melt so I wanted to request something! Could you perhaps write a little story where like the plot line of the whole surprise the Chief thing happens with female Chief? The last scene with the three, Chief, Hella, and Hecate, made me scream from cuteness overload and had to muffle it since it’s midnight where I live. 😭

I wish they had the morning call in the Chinese stream too, but a simp could only wish. Or did I miss that part? Was trying to find Angell’s morning call in Chinese since I’m a simp and since I primarily use Chinese voice acting for most of my games.

Characters: Various x fem!reader (Chief) [platonic for Hella, Hecate and other teen/children Sinners]

Type: SFW, Fluff (there is a surprise scene which wasn't in the official video, that's why this is even romantic at all~)

It was a normal day at the MBCC with everyone going about their duties and daily life. But the usual calm was interrupted when Nightingale walked inside the recreational area and asked the Sinners to gather around for an announcement. The ordeal was strange since all announcements were normally made through the speaker and only specified Sinners would be called in for special tasks. Nightingale chose the perfect time she knew everyone would be here so as to involve everyone, and still asked for any absentees to be called.

"Ahem, thank you everyone for heeding to my request. I will get to the point right away. Some may or may not know, next Saturday is Chief's second year in office. It has been a long and hard journey for Chief since her awakening, she has achieved lifelong milestones and made DisCity a safer place for everyone, especially all of you. To show our gratitude and appreciation, we will be holding a celebration for her. So, I'm here to ask you all if there is something you'd like to do for her. I'm sure she'd be very happy to receive something from you."

Everyone immediately perked up with excitement and interest hearing the announcement, some whispers and talks already beginning to form.

"Yes yes! I have a proposal!" Hella raised her hand and came forward, beaming with energy. Her proposal was simple enough, organizing a party with everyone's contribution in something or the other. None of the Sinners had any reason to refuse hence the proposal was quickly accepted and work began soon after. Eirene, Langley and Zoya were appointed as the co-leaders with Hella and Hecate (mostly Hella) leading the whole thing, it was fun for her to order everyone around but they all knew she was simply too excited and wanted everything done perfectly.

Different groups were formed and each given a set of duties. By the end of their planning phase, everyone had a work to do no matter how small or big. The incoming days felt like a hurricane with how busy everyone was and also had to keep the party a surprise, it was difficult to keep it a secret considering how involved you were with the bureau's affairs and caught on to many suspicious things that were being brought in and out. Still, eventually they had prevented any big revelations and kept you sufficiently intrigued.

"Oi, why is the banner not up yet?! We only have 4 hours left!"

Hella shouted, calling EMP and Horo to get on with the work. It was early Saturday morning, the day of the celebration. Fortunately, all necessary props had arrived thanks to Eirene's connections and authority in Eastside, the only thing left was to decorate the venue and make a cake. Cabernet had proposed to call the best pastry chef in DisCity for the cake but Chameleon and a few others suggested to make it themselves so as to make it more special.

Almost everyone participated in the cake making, right from bringing the ingredients to giving a hand in the making process and decorating it. The flavor was decided to be your favorite one and a signature topping was chosen for everyone to show their love for you. However, most didn't anticipate how chaotic the kitchen would become for making a simple cake. There were too many clashing opinions on the choice of frosting, shape, layers etc.

In the end, Nightingale had to step in and sort out the mess by proposing a common ground- 3 layered chocolate cake with vanilla frosting topped with strawberry pieces and chocolate puree around the edges, accompanied with 1 piece of signature topping by everyone. They beamed with pride looking at the finished cake and decorated venue, now all that was left was calling the special guest.

"Good work, everyone! Thank you for cooperating, we have 1 hour until the party so everyone can get ready till then and prepare anything else if they'd like. I'll bring Chief over later." Nightingale announced and some Sinners dispersed away to their cells to get dressed while others went to the cafeteria to have a break after the grueling preparations.

Hecate and Hella were seated together in the cafeteria. Hecate noticed Hella's cheerful demeanour and overall excitement about the event, finding her state quite interesting.

"Hella, why are you doing this?" Hecate suddenly asked.

"Hm? What do you mean?"

"This party.... why are you doing it?"

"H-Huh? Isn't it obvious....?!"

Hecate tilted her head, "Is it?"

Hella looked at her in bewilderment then sighed, "Don't you think she deserves it after all that she has done? It's exactly what Nightingale said when she announced it."

Hecate looked down with a blank expression, "I don't understand it too well. But, if it's like what Chief says to me about resting and taking things easy then...."

"Mm, that's a good enough explanation."

"But I still don't understand why you took charge of this. I didn't think you were the type to do something like this."

Hella looked almost offended and scoffed, "What do you take me for?! Of course, I understand her struggle and hard work for us. Is it so wrong to want to pay her back?"

Hecate pondered for a moment and noticed Hella's pout and slightly reddened face then gave a faint smile, "I think I get it now. I hope she likes it."

Hella grinned, "Of course, she will! My choices are the best!"

They smiled at each other before continuing their own work. It was now time for the celebration to begin as Nightingale made her way over to your office. She gently knocked on the door and stepped in to see you swamped with work as usual, likely not even realizing it was your work anniversary.

"Chief, you are required in the recreational area for a bit."

"Oh, is something wrong?"

"Yes, the Sinners are facing some issues. They'd like you to come and resolve it."

You nodded and wasted no time to get up to go. Nightingale always admired your work ethics and dedication towards the Sinners' wellbeing, she really wanted today to be a day for you to feel appreciated for all your efforts. You were walking through the corridor when you noticed everything was quieter and empty than usual, the guards seemed to be missing and barely any noise came from all around.

You reached the recreational area and tried to listen to any sounds considering there should be a ruckus but everything was too quiet. You looked over at Nightingale silently standing behind you with her usual expression then sighed and opened the door. All of a sudden, you were blinded by bright lights causing you to squint your eyes followed by the sound of each and every Sinner speaking their greetings for you.

"Happy 2nd year in office, Chief!~"

When you finally opened your eyes, you saw all the Sinners gathered around in front of you. In the frontmost row were Hella, Hecate, Zoya, Coquelic and Shalom all holding a big cake in their hands. Your mind couldn't comprehend the situation and you took a moment to look around the area until finally realizing what was happening.

"2nd year in office....?" you questioned then looked at Nightingale who was now on your left, standing with everyone with a smile on her face.

"Yes, Chief. Today is the day you were awakened and took charge of the bureau 2 years go."

You suddenly remembered the date and realized it was true, how could you forget the day your life changed forever? You then looked back at the Sinners and became slightly flustered seeing all the preparations they made, especially the beautiful and cute cake right in front of you.

"Hurry up and cut it, Chief! We can't wait to have it!" EMP shouted from behind Hella, making everyone chuckle.

"Thank you everyone, this is.... I-I don't have any words actually, I feel really happy. You all didn't need to do this, really...." you mumbled.

"Hmm, don't be so humble now, Chief~" Coquelic hummed.

"Hehe, indeed. Everyone contributed in this, you should thank their efforts~" Shalom added.

You smiled brightly at everyone then blew the candles and finally cut the cake. Kelvin and Ignis stepped forward to distribute slices to everyone while you were taken inside to sit at a sofa and served some snacks and beverages. All the Sinners formed groups around you and an atmosphere of laughter and celebration commenced. Some time passed and you were chatting with Langley when the sound of plate breaking was heard from across the room.

"A-Ah I'm so sorry, Hella!" EMP desperately apologized to Hella who was currently on the floor, her face covered with pieces of the cake and the plate shattered beside her. It seemed EMP accidentally bumped into Hella and made her fall which caused the cake to stain all over her face. Hella looked at EMP with rage and embarrassment as everyone stared at her, some even laughing at the ordeal though nobody meant any harm.

Hecate was the one to come forward and offer a tissue to wipe the cake from Hella's face and helped her stand up while Kelvin hurriedly gathered the broken pieces of the plate. You looked at the commotion and quickly made your way over to see Hella snuggled into Hecate's shoulder with tears in her eyes. EMP ran away before you could scold her, you decided to instead comfort Hella. You walked up to them and patted Hella's head, making her look at you.

"Are you okay, Hella? You can have some of my cake instead, and there is still more left that you can have."

You spoke with a smile and Hella sniffled her tears, you then patted Hecate's head too.

"Good job helping her, Hecate."

Hecate felt all warm and fuzzy inside hearing the compliment and simply nodded her head. You had both of them sit on the sofa and brought a new slice of cake then offered a bite to Hella who reluctantly accepted it, deep down you knew she loved this kind of attention.

"T-Thank you, Hecate and idiot Chief...." Hella mumbled, making you softly chuckle and pat her head more.

The sight of you three sitting together this way was quite adorable for some Sinners, giving them the image of a small and loving family with you as the mother of them. Some Sinners couldn't help but feel quite attracted to you, not that they already weren't, but seeing you act like a parent gave them.... fantasies.

"Oh, Chief, she's always so.... aaah, I want her even more now!~" Garofano pondered in a lovey-dovey haze.

"Oh, to have her feed me that way.... And perhaps I'll feed on her too, hehe~" Cabernet pondered, licking her lips.

Such similar thoughts roamed in every woman's head who liked you a bit more than usual, a kind of feeling they'd usually hide but felt overwhelmed by now. The celebration eventually ended by evening and you decided to go to your room to take a nap before continuing with paperwork. You had barely reached your room and begun to change your clothes when a huge commotion occured outside and you went to see what was happening, only to be met by the sight of various Sinners gathered around and arguing over something.

"Hey hey, everyone, what's the matter?" you cautiously asked and tried to calm them down.

"Hmph, always so pretentious in your approach, Hush. Don't forget the MBCC is under my jurisdiction." Langley stately claimed to Shalom who smirked in response.

"You can keep the MBCC under you, everyone knows Chief will be under me~" Shalom retorted.

"How many times have you tried to bribe her, Countess?~" Eirene mocked Chelsea.

"Oh, more than enought times than you have played chess with her, Quinn~" Chelsea retorted.

Everyone seemed to be engaged in some kind of banter with each other and completely ignored your intervention, making you confused and nervous about what the issue was. Coquelic was the first one to act differently. She had been silently standing on the side with Garofano and Sumire behind her and waiting for her turn but seeing the unnecessary trouble, she decided to take matters in her own hands. Her small frame made it easier for her to squeeze in through the crowd and stand in front of you with a sly smirk.

"Ah, Coquelic! What's happen—?!"

Your words were blocked as she suddenly pulled you down near her face by grabbing your chest harness then placed a supple kiss on the left corner of your lips, hard enough to leave a mark of her red lipstick. Everyone instantly became quiet seeing her bold action, some even gasping in surprise.

"Everyone was wasting so much time debating over who'll go first so I took the initiative. You are welcome to come to my room if you want more, Chief~"

Coquelic declared before waving at everybody and walking away, leaving you quite dumbfounded at what just happened. You then looked at everyone else and knew you were in trouble, probably the best kind of trouble, though. As if like dam broke down, everyone lunged at you and pushed you inside your room until you were seated on the edge of the bed and had them hover around you, some even climbing up and going behind you while the rest fought to have space in front.

"Everyone, calm down! Let's do one at a time, okay?!" you proposed a solution but it didn't seem like they were keen on listening.

Garofano and Sumire were first to act following their mentor's steps and placed a kiss on each of your cheeks, leaving a lipstick mark just like Coquelic did. This was followed by Chelsea and Lady Pearl, the latter of them kissing your jaw and the former kissing your forehead, again leaving lipstick marks. Next was Cabernet who acted swiftly to be alone and wasted no chance to kiss your lips, pulling away with a lick and imprinting her lipstick too.

"Hehe, you taste so good, Chief~" Cabernet remarked before being pulled away by Eirene who straddled your lap and held your face to kiss the right corner of your lips, similar to Coquelic's action and also leaving her lipstick mark.

"I'll take more from you later, Chief~" Eirene said with a smirk then got off you and made space for Langley and Chamelon who sat on each side of the bed beside you and examined your face, seemingly finding an empty space for them to make their mark.

"You look adorable, Chief. But you should have left some space for me~" Chameleon teased while sliding her hand down your neck and unbuttoning the first button of your shirt.

"Hmph, such behaviour is intolerable from you, rookie. I expect you in my office later to compensate for this~" Langley stated.

Both of them dived near your exposed neck and kissed on either side, a muffled moan leaving your lips at the overwhelming contact. Just like everyone, their lipsticks were also imprinted on your skin distinctly. Shalom came in next and surprisingly, brought Nightingale along with her who was seemingly standing outside the whole time and watching the ordeal. You could tell Nightingale was clearly embarrassed and reluctant to follow through with her desires, but you pulled her in by her arm to tell her it was okay.

"Oh my, aren't you quite bold with your Adjutant?~" Shalom teased.

Nightingale was too embarrassed to kiss you anywhere other than your forehead, while Shalom kissed near your ear, her breath brushing past making you shudder. Your body was heaving by now with all the sensations you were experiencing, but you could still see more were left. Oak Casket and Raven soon got their turns, the former kissing your hand while the latter kissed your chin. By now, it was difficult to tell who kissed where, but they all knew their special spot.

Some of the last few people were Anne, Serpent, Angell, Bai Yi, Cassia and Eleven- all of them kissing at different spots on your face and neck and leaving their lipstick marks too. At last when it all ended, you practically plopped on the bed with exhaustion and caressed all the kiss marks with your fingers before smiling to yourself and closing your eyes. You were surprised they didn't just tear away your clothes and mark you all over.... perhaps that was saved for some other day.

I know I should be focusing more on reqs, but I had to take this off my mind skskksskks (btw I'm rn in the underground belobog part of story) (I kinda called it SAHSR as in self aware hsr)

Tw: no proofread, mentioned drowning(but it didn't happen), war, hate, religious themes, self awareness, kinda ooc, grammar mistakes because I am typing this at 12AM instead of sleeping, isolation

So, you know how in the beginning we play as Kafka? Yeah, I'm pretty sure she felt your presence. At first she was kinda weirded out, and was on guard. Who knows what you would do to her, while controlling her?

Oh look, you're helping her.. Hmm, maybe you aren't that bad after all. Still on guard, but thankful. With you she seems to fight more faster and is more efficient.

Same goes with Silver Wolf. They don't seem to mind your presence that much.

You even helped them to pick a trailblazer! But after picking them, you left Kafka and Silver Wolf. They didn't really mind it. They have been doing good without you, so it should be fine!

Meanwhile, the trailblazer is confused. First, they don't remember anything except their own name(or the name you gave them), then Kafka leaves and someone is watching over them. Oh how confusing and strange. But they caught early on that you're helping them. You're not an enemy.

During their "adventures" trailblazer starts thinking of you as a family. Kinda annoying since you control their body most the time (unless it's a cutscene) but you're cool nonetheless. They see you as a safespace.

Meanwhile March 7th and Dan Heng don't understand what is happening. Who is controlling them? Why after they met trailblazer? Why are you controlling them?

I think March would, just like the trailblazer, like you and find you annoying at the same time. Dan Heng would stay on guard (but also see you as safe space/nice person to hang with). Not as much on guard as when you first...met but still. It'll take him time to get off guard. The more time you spend with them, the more familiar they are with you, the more they like you.

Why annoyed, you may ask? Well, imagine you want to.. for example fight, but someone controls your movement and does it instead of you. Or goes the other way (aka exploring) instead of the path you've originally chosen.

They certainly would like when you make them stronger. No matter who is on your team, they'll like it (I mean, who wouldn't?)

But.. sometimes, even if they like you, they get tired of always being on the team. Thank you, yes, but they need to rest too. They mostly rest when you're offline, since..time kinda stops there. But when you're online? damnnn they walk and fight so much.. (I fr walk everywhere to find enemies to fight, so uhh, if you're like me, they would be tired and maybe annoyed at it)

I think some characters would even hate you. It doesn't apply to the main trio btw, they'll always like you. The reason some may hate you is that they have so much stuff to do, yet you choose them to walk around and fight all day. They're even supposed to be here! (For example, using Herta when fighting someone in Belobog)

If they could, they would scold you. But sadly game doesn't allow that.

It only appears in normal, self aware circumstances. Aka a normal self aware. Some like you, some hate you. You just kinda exist. (That one strange friend/sibling, y'know?)

But what if they would see you as a God? Something divine? Like in SAGAU?

Well, you're doomed, what can I say?

Everyone would want to be in your team. Oh, poor Gacha system.

They would hate it tbh. While in just self aware some would avoid you on purpose (aka busy characters), here? Where everyone sees you as a divine being? Oh dear..

Imagine several people trying to come through a single door, all at the same time? Yeahhh that's what happens. The standard and limited banner would literally fist fight while trying to get "home" to you. So don't be surprised if nobody comes home, at all.

But some may cooperate, and you may get more 5☆ or 4☆! Basically characters you wanted.

Those on your team would be proud! Mostly if the main trio are still there. Some would be envious of trailblazer. You're always with them, even if they're not on your team.(how could you?!)

Kafka and Silverwofl would be devastated. I'm pretty sure Silverwolf could possibly destroy the gacha system and come home. Only her (and maybe Kafka)

People in Belobog would hate the lore and everything game makes them do what they do. They're so happy they met you! You're here to save them! They don't want to fight you, so please don't be mad at them.

Honestly, if you were to get isekai'ed into hsr, I would recommend to the normal au.

The ones who hate you would just tell you off and never interact again, while your family/friends would hang out with you. Plus you could help a lot in Astral Express!

Maybe get Himeko and Mr.Yang some tea? Or help Pom Pom with whatever he needs?

If you get into the Worshipping Lunatics au..? I feel sorry for you.. You would never rest-

Whether you choose to stay at Astrak Express, or Herta's *I forgot the name* or whatever, they are all ready to wage war against each other. And if you decided to stay somewhere, that means you clearly favor them and their place more! Those who were chosen are happy/smug. While other try to improve their place/copy the place you've chosen to make you reconsider and stay with them.

The amount of gifts.. try to not drown okay?

They might even all agree to keep you in one place. Lock you in there and hope you won't be mad at them.

Hiatus announcment!!

God I been thinking about making an offical hiatus for awhile now but...today's PB fuck up has really struck a nail in the coffin.

I'm sorry but....I thought being obsessed with a gacha game was bad already but somehow PB made an even worse version?

I feel like ever since new year PB is just getting worse and worse. Not only are they trying to get rid of their f2p players but also those who don't spend enough! Like their prices are just unreasonable for what we are getting.

Now I know they are a small company and need longer to produce content but you can't just paywall almost everything in your game! Then you have no game.

We f2p players have been starving for months now. The last event,as much as I love my Niflheim boys,was short and dry. Left me with more questions than answers.

My point? I have no more motivation. I been simping over every little detail on the characters that my motivation is running low.

With this new update,I am just bumped. I'm not letting go of whb yet tho. I'm just not going to be very active....

(If you ask me we should all just try boycotting PB but hey who am I to say anything)

amid her rant, she could feel herself begin to cry. where did it all go wrong? she was just a girl who wanted to be an artist. she didn't ask to not be "pretty" according to her mother.

I’ve been playing GENSHIN IMPACT for over a year now and reading a bit of fic here and there, mostly of the Tartali and Zhongli&Venti variety, but then Sumeru hit and oh hey Alhaitham is an amazing unit in a quickbloom team and then Kaveh hurricaned his way into my heart and oh no suddenly I was in love and absolutely tearing my way through every bit of Haikaveh I could get my hands on because christ there’s no way Hoyoverse isn’t writing them that way on purpose. I mean, I’m already a sucker for Old Married Couple type bickering, but then you give me the undercurrent of how much they genuinely mean to each other? How much Alhaitham is genuinely caring about how self-destructive Kaveh is? How Kaveh just absolutely will not shut up about Alhaitham, even the other characters are like “You talk about him so much that it’s like he’s been here with us all night.”? Yeah, of course I fell in love. So, here, cry about a gacha game having beautifully designed characters with just the right types of personality and funny banter that know how to knock me the fuck out with both delight and genuine feelings about idiots in love. Or just old elemental grandpas who annoy the shit out of each other because they’re both several millennia old and nobody else understands their weird friendship. I’m having a great time and I’m going to make that everyone else’s problem. GENSHIN IMPACT - CHILDE IS 10000% CASUALLY UNHINGED OF COURSE HE WANTS TO NOT JUST FIGHT A GOD, HE WANTS TO FUCK A GOD: ✦ Set in Stone by seredemia, childe/zhongli & childe’s family, 115.4k wip What do you do when you write about a certain six thousand year old consultant so much in your letters that it somehow convinces your entire family you’re not only dating each other, but that you’re also engaged? In Childe’s case, the answer is plain and simple: he goes along with it, of course. Absolutely nothing can go wrong if he makes a contract with the God of Contracts, vowing that the two of them will pretend to be lovers for the duration of his family’s stay in Liyue. Afterwards, they’ll return as normal and speak no more of this mess. Imagine you go to God's going-away party and God doesn't even look at you. Imagine your only friend, who was also at the party, tells you not to take it personally. God's just, like, really busy, you know? Got a lot on Her mind. But you do take it personally, because you know the reason that God overlooked you is that you're small and ugly. So imagine that after God goes away you sneak into Her house and you find something that can make you beautiful. More than that, you find something that can make you look like God.

So you use it. You make yourself like God and you take over Her place in your hometown, which She left because She's so busy all the time or whatever. And why shouldn't you? Won't you make a better God than someone who wouldn't even look at you?

And imagine it goes great! Everyone believes you - well, everyone who matters, anyways. You take over your hometown and you make the whole thing beautiful. And everyone loves you. Your old friend, who doesn't know you're pulling this God schtick, is kind of upset about the old you disappearing, and keeps asking for your help "finding" her, but like, he'll get over it. You're still right here with him, even if he doesn't know it, and you're beautiful now. You keep him right by your side, where you're sure he'll get over it.

Only, uh, imagine it turns out you're maybe not great at this whole God thing? Something's going weird in your hometown. People start getting sick. Things start… rotting. That one tightass who doubted you from the beginning starts kicking up a fuss about the whole thing, and somehow he figures out you're not actual God, but like, can't he realize that it's time for a new God anyways? After all, if the old God was so fucking great and everything, why isn't She protecting him from you? So anyways you throw him in a cage in the bottom of God's house (side note, was the cage in the bottom of God's house there when you moved in?) and try to go chill with your old friend.

Only he's like, really upset about the people that have been getting sick. You didn't realize it was that serious. So you go off to try and make things better, but while you're off doing that, your friend (who apparently recognized you the whole time, which casts a whole different light on those times he told you how worried he was about his missing friend) sneaks into God's house behind your back and tries to let the tightass out of the cage. You catch him in the act and then it becomes this whole thing, and then in the middle of it Actual God shows back up.

Actual God's all like, hey, the power you're using is not meant to be used like this, it's too great, things are going wrong with the fabric of reality and the world itself could end if you keep fucking around like this. And you're like, bite me, I'm God now.

So you try to make Her fuck off using the power you stole from Her house- and it doesn't work. Things start tearing apart around you. You realize you have a choice between saving the vision of the world you could create with this power and saving the world that exists, the world where your friend lives, the world that's always been your stupid shitty hometown and all the beautiful things inside it. And you give it up. You give up the power. You give up being beautiful. You give up being God. You go back to being small and ugly and worthless, and everyone knows what you did, and the world is safe.

Only God says, well, I'm about to go away. Again. And someone should look after this place while I'm gone, and you did a good thing by giving up the power just then, soo… And She gives you your beautiful form back, and She appoints you to look after Her house and the power inside it, which you can never ever touch again. You're not sure if it's a reward or a punishment. And God goes away, again.

Now imagine this is all a plotline in a mobile gacha game about cookies and one of the main characters in this drama is secretly a duck

Blake: ...It means someone has been stealing all of our money. It's gotten so bad, we can afford to match Ren's dialogue to ours.

REN: GUYS. PLEASE HELP ME. WHAT HAPPENED TO MY DIALOGUE.

Ruby: O-Oh my god...

Yang: Alright. So we're broke. Now there's only one question we have left.

Yang: (Smashes fist on table) WHO THE HELL IS TAKING ALL OF OUR MONEY?!

Weiss: ...W-Why is everyone looking at me?! I'm a victim in this, too!

Pyrrha: Well, yes, but you're also the only one of us who has more lien than all of us combined.

Oscar: H-Hang on, let's not jump to conclusions. I mean, who's to say that Weiss still has her money after cutting ties with her family.

Weiss: Yeah! What the peasant said!

Oscar: Yeah, what the- ...Oh, you son of a-

Ruby: (Holding Oscar's mouth shut)

Jaune: Well, if it wasn't Weiss, then who else would be irresponsible enough to spend that amount of cash?

Nora: ...W-Why are you looking at me?!

Blake: In your defense, Nora, we're not assuming you'd use our money maliciously, or even on purpose. We'd understand since you're not exactly the brightest here.

Nora: (Gasps) Oh, you wanna talk about bright?! Okay, then how about how ironic that you say that when you spend all your time inside and spending all your lien on gacha games! Maybe you should take that lien and buy some mouthwash, Mist Cat-Breath!

Blake: ...It's Miss, not Mist, actually. Besides, at least I have screen time. Nobody even likes you!

Nora: What?! What does that mean?!

Ruby: Guys, don't fight! And besides, don't act so high and mighty, Nora! Most of your fans either write you as an actual cat, or as a covert racist who's into raceplay!

Blake: Oh, fuck off!

Jaune: Alright, alright. Enough about who's the worst girl of both teams. Can we get back to the fact that we have no money?

Yang: Yeah, sure. Let's how about we just make the money back by working some extra jobs between missions? Weiss getting some amount of lien from her folks and me winning games at the bar, it just isn't enough to support all of us.

Weiss: What about Pyrrha? I'm sure you have some model contracts left in you.

Pyrrha: I could, but modeling always felt so... off with the people who work there?

Nora: Then just go private, like those girls on OnlyHunters.

Pyrrha: NORA?! WHAT THE HELL?! DISGUSTING!

I just realized Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail are different games, and since I just realized they're free, which of them would you suggest I try out? (And how bad/tempting is the gacha system?)

MY FRIEND!!!! :DDDD i'm so glad you realized these are different games, and my years of ACADEMY TRAINING HAVE PREPARED ME FOR THIS

okay i'm going to do a general breakdown of the high/low points of each, with some mentions of their gacha system also before jumping into my personal onions about them

genshin impact basic premise in a non-spoilery way: your twin is kidnapped/whisked away by a mysterious deity, and you are left exploring the world of tevyat while running around different places and unraveling mysteries behind certain archons (gods) of different locations. there's also hints about a previous ruined kingdom khaenri'ah, which was known to follow no archons. there's also a wintry country called snezhnaya which runs a mysterious organization called the Fatui (like spies/assassins/agents), with top agents known as Harbingers (like Tartaglia (Childe)). characters: there are a lot of fun characters to meet and interact with, with a decent mix of personalities and foibles. there are some general issues where the female characters don't necessarily have their full range of powers/agency shown as taking center stage, and also have been hearing some (rightful) general criticism around the way the natlan character designs have been handled. storylines: i myself was drawn into playing it from what i heard about the liyue storyline (involving zhongli) and iT DID have almost everything i believed it should be in a cdrama general intrigues secret identities and some betrayal kind of way. i played through the mondstadt story quest, liyue storyline (my favorite), inazuma story quests (which was okay), and sumeru story quests (which were quite good). i never made my way into finishing fontaine.

the storytelling can feel a little uneven at parts, but when it is REALLY good with specific character stories, it is absolutely amazing. one time i played through a specific character quest and wrote a whole fic for that particular character like a month later ease of play: it's sort of like. real time battling in an open world kind of play. you need to physically switch between using characters in a team of four. the maps of story quests areas can be really large, and there were a Lot of collectibles that you needed to get if you leveled up everything. some world puzzles can be especially frustrating. i know when i was playing on a laptop, occasional internet issues would make battling hard sometimes. i'm not especially good at video games, but i still managed okay. other downsides--grinding for the right materials to level up your characters can Take a significant chunk of time time needed: a lot ; w ; but at my peak of playing it, i was averaging anywhere between 40 minutes to 1.5 hours on average days, which was enough to go through a lot of it gacha system: i was always a f2p player, and i think the pity system and the way they let you get materials for the gacha pulls is pretty reasonable! i've had some friends spend more to get copies of characters of course, but i never really felt the need to do that. i think at last count, i had like 8 or 9 five-star characters through just using f2p, and if there's a character you like, you can spend some time saving up the materials for pulls. i got at least four of the characters i wanted to pull for through just saving up from general daily quests and stuff like that

other fun things you might like to see if you were considering genshin: guides for building up characters, a zhongli character trailer in CN, a childe CN trailer, a Fantastic childe fanvid, my (spoilery) genshin tag.

final onions on genshin: you might like it, but the time cost required to get through the game may be a Lot. parts of the materials gathering and world exploration parts can get tedious, with controls for battling sometimes veering into clunky. i do Love certain character stories very much once playing through them. i also usually play it in original CN dub with english subs since i prefer the voices that way. different types of fun characters to like, with plenty of shipping material for certain couples (some with more canonical details to work with than others) i may recommend seeing if u want to watch a playthrough of the mondstadt archon quests, and the liyue archon quests (plus zhongli character quests), before deciding on playing
