Pamela Anderson says she once feared for her safety during a particularly intense instance of mistaken identity.
On Monday’s episode of the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, the “Baywatch” alum recalled being confronted on a flight by a passenger who’d mistaken her for a member of the Grammy-winning country band the Chicks.
“This guy came up to me and said, ‘Do you know what this country’s done for you?’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God, what have I done?’” Anderson said. “Then this stewardess had to handcuff him to the chair, because he was trying to attack me.”
“And end up, he thought I was a Dixie Chick,” she continued. “Remember that whole Dixie Chick thing? Yeah, I almost got killed on a plane.”
Anderson didn’t specify when the incident took place. In 2003, the Chicks ― who were then known as the Dixie Chicks ― faced national backlash and were blacklisted from country radio after lead singer Natalie Maines declared she was “ashamed that the president of the United States,” George W. Bush, was from her home state of Texas.
Watch Pamela Anderson’s “Happy Sad Confused” interview below. Her comments about being confused for a Chicks member begin around 49:05.

Remember the (Dixie) Chicks’ Not Ready to Make Nice video??

"Early in my life, these three women showed me that female artists can play their own instruments while also putting on a flamboyant spectacle of a live show…They taught me that creativity, eccentricity, unapologetic boldness and kitsch can all go together authentically…Most importantly, they showed an entire generation of girls that female rage can be a bonding experience between us all the very second we first heard Natalie Maines bellow 'that Earl had to DIE'" - Taylor Swift x

“It Must be Sunday,” So Darrell Scott Does Not Cover the Chicks on “Long Time Gone;” He Wrote It
Darrell Scott is not covering the (Dixie) Chicks when he plays “Long Time Gone.”
Scott is the hit song’s writer and composer. And his just-released live version from May 13, 2022, in South Carolina with his eponymous Electrifying Trio gives insight into Scott’s various ideas for the song.
Playing a Gibson Les Paul guitar and backed by Bryn Davies on double bass and drummer Jeff Sipe, Scott is every bit the shredder on this seven-minute conflagration, out as the latest video in his “It Must be Sunday” series. It’s 98-percent pure rock ‘n’ roll with 2 percent jazz bleeding into the lengthy instrumental breaks that never noodle but swing instead.
The singing is as impeccable as the playing, making for a good ol’ Sunday mornin’, or afternoon, or evenin’ … or whatever day and time a listener comes across this “Long Time Gone.”
Read Sound Bites’ previous “It Must be Sunday” coverage here.

If we’re talking about Lemonade we can’t not talk about the Daddy Lesson’s remix featuring The Dixie Chicks. 😍
youtube
The cultural reset that this performance is singularly responsible for is not talked about enough.
If you didn’t see this happen live (or you don’t know the history of The Dixie Chicks) you don’t really get it but MAN *THIS* WAS A FUCKING M O M E N T.

The same people who worship Elon Musk and screech about having their freedom of speech taken away are the same people who blackballed The Chicks after 9/11.

Dixie Chicks Co-founder Laura Lynch Killed in Car Crash
- “Her infectious energy and humor gave a spark to the early days of our band,” the Chicks said
Laura Lynch, the singer and bassist who co-founded the band then known as the Dixie Chicks, has died, the group said.
Lynch, 65, was killed in a head-on crash Dec. 22, Texas television station WFAA reported.
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Laura Lynch, a founding member of the Chicks,” the band said in a statement.
“We hold a special place in our hearts for the time we spent playing music, laughing and traveling together. Laura was a bright light - her infectious energy and humor gave a spark to the early days of our band.”

As a member of the Dixie Chicks, Lynch, along with Robin Lynn Macy and sisters Martie and Emily Erwin - now Maguire and Strayer, respectively - recorded 1990’s Thank Heavens for Dale Evans and 1992’s Little Ol’ Cowgirl. Macy departed and the trio put out Shouldn’t a Told You That in 1993 before Lynch, too, decamped and was replaced by Natalie Maines.
“Laura … was instrumental in the early success of the band,” the Chicks said. “Her undeniable talents helped propel us beyond busking on street corners to stages all across Texas and the Midwest.”
