#The colors mean things

GND Studio, the people behind My Damn Business, are delivering Close to You which is four shorts about unrequited love, or so the trailer said. The first two are complete and include colors, so I'm giving a quick recap:

"Riding a Bicycle" deals with two color-coded best friends.

They are about to head off to college and worried that they won't be as close (or as special to each other) and will eventually lose touch with each other.

But even more, the Black Brooder seems to be clearly in love with Heavenly Human as he wears his white color, yet they are both sleeping on the other's pillow, so the love doesn't seem to be one-sided.

They decide to go for a long bike ride in the freezing cold to the perfect spot.

And when the Heavenly Human, in his adorable earmuffs that the Black Brooder gave him, asks why they came to this exact spot, the Black Brooder says it's because the Heavenly Human liked it on Instagram, and he wanted to do something together before they go their separate ways.

Then he gives the Heavenly Human a hug as to say goodbye (and even their shoes are color coded!).

But the Heavenly Human won't let this be the end and tells the Black Brooder that they'll be back, together, and the Blinding Light of Love emerges.

FOR BOTH OF THEM!

"Friendship Bracelet" is about a man realizing his rainbow bracelet has the ability to turn back time after he drunkenly confesses his feelings to his friend.

He not only told his longtime buddy that he is love with him, but that he also wants to sleep with him.

But in an effort to distract his friend from rejecting him, he shows his friend the friendship bracelet his friend gave him years ago.

He thinks he can pull on his friend's heartstrings by reminding him that they are best friends, so even if he confessed, they can remain best friends.

The best friend is not amused nor open to this idea.

But then the guy begins to nervously play with the bracelet and moves it around on his wrist which causes time to revert by ten minutes.

Upon seeing the red string missing, he quickly realizes that he will lose a string each time he goes back in time, so he has limited chances to get this right.

But first, he gets a good kiss in!

After using up all his chances, he finally decides to just own the fact that he is love with his best friend and accepts his fate.

But as he goes to walk out the door and out of his friend's life, his friend tries to stop him by grabbing his wrist, which triggers the final loop.

AND NOW THE FRIEND HAS THE BRACELET!

But he immediately understands why he has it because before he gave it to his friend all those years ago, he used it to confess he was in love to his bestie SIX TIMES, but in the final loop, he decided not to confess, which prompted him to give the bracelet to his friend.

And they kiss at the realization that they are both in love with each other!

Oh, there is also a guy in the background having tech issues that perfectly align with the guys' issues who stumbles upon the bracelet at the end!

There are two more stories, "The Last Diary" and "Sunset Boulevard," and I think both might also involve colors, so I'll be back in this tag in one month with more stories about requited love!

This show remains fully committed to the color coding and this whole party is full of Fah and Rak's blue and yellow and pink for love, and their color coded friends -- who helped put this party together -- are all represented and representing, too, and I love them so much 😭

Hope's little expression journey here when he remembers that Save is in debt to Boss (just like everyone else) and that's why he wants to keep their relationship secret, because Hope is an enforcer, a debt collector and, well, one of the cruelest ones. Yet Save obviously fell for him and wants to stay with him and it's so interesting to see.

It's even more fascinating to contrast Jack and Hope. Because we know Jack is regularly paying off everyone's debt while Hope isn't touching his boyfriend's but Jack and Hope both have items that are held to keep their loyalty and they're each fallen for someone struggling in a different way and it's just... oof.

And then we get into Arun and Tattoo which is the exact opposite of everyone else where Arun has no debt but a different kind of loyalty and Tattoo has nothing but debt and absolutely no loyalty and it's amazing and I cannot wait to see them develop. Because Arun has plenty of his own issues but he also has power that's different from anyone else is the show's, even Joke.

(They are all the dark boys, even if Arun is wearing white lace over his blackness, he has brightness but he has darkness at his core, the same way Hope has blackness outline his white shirt while Jack, oh Jack, has engulfed himself in the darkness as much as he can. @respectthepetty I love them all.)

The Love Sea special episode said Blue = 💙Love💙!

I already knew that Tongrak and Mahasamut were color and fabric coded boys in love and the special really hammered it in. It also pointed something out that's been in front of my face this whole time!

We begin the episode with Mut waking up in blue patterned sheets.

He's looking at his calendar (on which the date is highlighted in blue) because Tongrak is set to return soon and there's blue decor on the walls and Rak's textures are in the wall hanging beside the bed.

In fact, the blue and patterns and textures are all over their house! The patterned rugs offer texture by nature, there's some decorative wood that adds texture to the walls and blue photos, there's blue in the pattern Mut is wearing, a blue patterned pillow on Rak's desk chair. Even my favorite chismoso Palm is sporting a blue patterned shirt as he helps Mut clean before Rak's return home.

Even on Vivi and Mook! One of them is in a blue pattern and the other in a textured dress and there's blue in their matching necklaces!

But that's not even the best part because LOOK at what Tongrak is wearing!

A SOLID COLORED SHIRT WITH A BLUE PATTERN ON THE POCKET OVER HIS HEART! THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF THIS SHIRT:

Before, it was plainly obvious to literally everyone that Rak was in love with Mahasamut but Rak couldn't admit it to himself. He was still afraid and guarding his heart so there was a solid pocket on his blue striped shirt. But look at him now!

He's got his husband's patterns over his heart and he's kissing him hello after a month apart in front of Viviana and Mook and god and the ocean with zero hesitation.

AND THAT'S BARELY THE FIRST 15 MINUTES OF THE EPISODE! The blue and the patterns and textures just keep going!

Blue in the tag Rak gives Mut.

Blue patterns on their clothes and again on Palm.

Blue patterns in the pillows and texture in the blanket they rest on while they go to their romantic dinner.

Tongrak sleeping so peacefully absolutely surrounded by all the blue in their home.

Mut in his blue patterned shirt getting sent off to work with breakfast and a forehead kiss from his husband.

Blue patterns in the tablecloth and seat cushions at the dinner Mook forced them to attend after interrupting their pre-dinner appetizer.

A dinner which they promptly skip out on because they'd much rather eat each other instead, UNDER THE BLINDING BLUE JELLYFISH LIGHT OF LOVE!

And I've just gotta talk about this shirt.

Because Tongrak isn't just wearing a blue patterned shirt.

He's wearing the same blue patterned shirt Mahasamut was wearing when he left Tongrak's house and symbolically took the love that he'd confessed and that had been rejected with him.

There's no longer sad memories attached to that shirt! Only happy memories of Rak and Mut planning their future together and being so excited about it that neither of them can sleep!

And it's not only them who are bundled safely in the patterned blue of love!

Blue = 💙Love💙 and they've been telling us that since the finale aired!

Secret Relationships / 비밀 사이 Episode 8

There’s something going on with the red in 4 Minutes.

This was only the first episode (and I know more is coming since I've seen it in the trailer) but I'm already buzzing from seeing all this red.

(I would expand on it if it weren't for the Olympics. But, for now, this will have to do until the Olympics are over and I have time to write about color (including the contrast of dark/light that's present as well).)

I'm reporting for duty, so I can see what colors are in Your Sky of Us and if they still align with what was in the original series.

In Your Sky, I thought Fah was a Blue Boy and Rak was a Yellow Yal.

Yet by the end, I thought it was possible that Fah could also be a Black Brooder.

But now that I'm in the special episodes, I have no idea because I feel like nobody is abiding by the colors they were in the original series, like Red Rascal Hia and Black Brooder Real. WTF, my dudes?

Are we in couple matching territory now or did everyone just magically forget their color?

Green Guy Type, where is your color?

Pink Person Joy, you stayed a chismosa, but are you wearing orange with a yellow phone?!

Not even the iPads are color coded anymore!!!!!

Don't show up now to rub salt in my wounds, you two!

Well, even if the show decided the colors don't matter and everyone can be just any old color they want to be, at least the love is still there.

And, thankfully, Fah remembers he is in love with a Yellow Yal and gets his man's chocolate drink with a yellow straw and an emerging Blinding Light of Love. I appreciate the small blessings.

But Babe, who is the woman I'm going to marry, comes through and FINALLY stops the shenanigans so everyone can get back on track. Dom has to be the best man on this earth to deserve her love.

Fah, with Babe's advice, gets it together in time for Rak's birthday and comes up with the perfect plan for a birthday surprise filled with yellows, blues, and pinks.

So he is finally being the Blue Boy I knew he always was!

And his friends are being themselves too in black and red!

Apparently, the gifts they got Rak also coordinated to their colors!

But Blue Boy Fah's gifts are the best color coordination because he gets Rak red roses wrapped in blue paper with a blue note.

And a blue cake.

Because it's all for the guy he loves who just happens to be beautiful in pink.

THESE ARE THE COLORS I CAME FOR!

And it all ends with them in bed with Fah in yellow pajama pants and Rak in blue.

I am at peace, and all is right in this fictional world.

Well, at least it is before whatever this is happens next episode.

Taishin in a yellow and blue jacket, and green and blue shorts. The green and blue sheets and blanket. Takara folding the items, in a very light blue sweatshirt, in front of blue curtains.
