the worst part is i can't even say he's wrong. they certainly did figure out how to contribute the city by joining the wrgp. but like. this is one of those things where it literally does not make sense. this is insane levels of logic. I was thinking about what ed and stedes first "adult relationship fight" might look like.. maybe stede isn't very happy with the life of running an inn, maybe he's missing piracy and being on water.. and then ed would be all like "then why did you agree to this in the first place?" and stede would just say "because izzy died" and OH MY GOD this is all i can think about right now!

Stede has witnessed death, been directly and non directly the cause of it. This isn't the death of some random English soldier, or a pirate or a badminton (sure those deaths affected stede). This is different, izzy is someone stede grew to care about, he was his first mate (for like a week but it still means something), he protected the crew, he probably was eds longest friend/first mate, stede saw how panicked and heartbroken ed was, crying over izzy in a way that stede has only seen once before (in the tub when ed admitted to killing his father)...

izzys death hit stede hard, it's probably been a long time since stede last lost a person he cared about. I mean just look at this face!!

And when people who are in your life, people you care about die, you start thinking about your own mortality and the mortality of the ones you love and i doubt stede would ever want to be in a similar situation, holding a bleeding, dying ed who's saying his last words after some battle they barely escaped! So it makes sense for stede to jump at the idea of running an inn, away from danger, where it's less likely for him to lose the love of his life!

I think izzys death isn't only important for eds arc, it's probably important for stedes as well and the third act of their story/relationship! I genuinely think that izzys death kicked started the third act of the story!

Just because izzys death was rushed in the finale, it doesn't mean it won't have a big impact on the story forward!
