I think the craziest thing about TTPD as an album is that I think a lot more people would like it if they actually just sat and listened and applied to it their own lives and didn’t just focus on the muses. Like. It’s so obvious she doesn’t want us to just focus on the muses. The manuscript even said the story isn’t mine anymore, this story is over and she’s moved on and it’s ours now and we’ll find new and different meanings in it. And I think writing the whole album off as ‘her worst album and it’s all about her obsession with 1 man’ just does the album such a disservice even if it’s not their kind of album.

next time you try a new food or beverage, or light a new scented candle, or even try on a new outfit, I encourage you to find a new song or album to listen to at the same time

in my experience, tying multiple senses to a new experience creates a stronger memory:

paint while listening to a new favorite song and sipping a tea you've wanted to try, or check out that local nature trail with a new album playing in one earbud

and then the next time you feel stressed or overwhelmed you can play that song again, or light that candle, or make that drink, and it may help you feel a little lighter

Don’t get me wrong because I genuinely think Taylor Swift is a talented lyricist but she really has not artistic growth… She has written the same exact songs four hundred times but now she just puts a random words generator. Like, some of those lyrics sound AI generated. And she’s 34 years old but her albums still speak on the same things. There’s zero evolution. Some of those lyrics feel targeted to a 19 years old that is in her “indie aesthetically bad boys that get high and I think I can fix phase” which is basically the same as her old material but way more cringey for some reason. And I’m not trying to compare but Beyoncé at that age was making Lemonade. It’s hard to think this is the biggest pop star the world has to offer us. This is white mediocrity. The songs are fun to edit over fictional characters but when you put into perspective her whole work is so lackluster. So utterly boring and predictable. Maybe she needs to take a break (?). And somehow, people and white music critics will pretend this album is comparable to the likes of Cowboy Carter.
