RAFAEL DESOTO

The Wicked Women 1961

(1904-1992) Puerto Rican-born US artist, whose name was variously rendered as Raphael De Soto, Rafael M de Soto, and R de Soto; he may have produced a few pulp covers under the name Irene Endris. After the death of his father, DeSoto was sent to a Catholic seminary, but his obvious artistic talents directed him toward a career in art rather than the priesthood. In about 1923 he came to New York and spent some years getting what experience he could in various studios before, in 1930, signing up with Street & Smith as a Pulp illustrator. Most of his prodigious output was for western, thriller and adventure magazines, but he did some sf work and also introduced sf elements into some of his other work, notably the series of covers he did for The Spider. After the effective demise of the pulps he continued doing covers and interiors for men's adventure magazines and for the Slicks, as well as paperback covers. A few of these were for sf books, such as the first (1953) paperback reprint of Jerry Sohl's novel The Haploids (1952). In 1964 DeSoto retired from Illustration to teach art and concentrate on his own painting

Why changing glinda's dress color is not a good idea:

It erases the visual cues of her development. After the first act,both her and elphaba's outfits reflect their impact on each other,with elphaba wearing purplish magneta and glinda wearing blue,just like elphaba's first outfit

Pink and warmer colors in general are meant for first act!glinda,representing her bubbly and energetic personality while the color blue shows her maturity and her inner sadness. The movie dress just looks too cheerful for her current state

Come on now who on their right mind decided that the bubble dress wasn't perfect enough and downgraded it to whatever grande is wearing

In all seriousness I understand that they're trying to pay homage to the original wizard of oz movie but glinda's dress serves an important part in the narrative,it'd be really disappointing if they just got rid of it

Y'all, these things are going to give me an ANEURYSM.

First off: Gluttony's pin doesn't even have his house colors on it. WTF.

Second: Pride's has a lot of black and gold??

Third: Wrath's has dark blue?? I mean we can infer from his bedchambers that he likes the color so that gets a pass for now

Fourth: LUST'S HAS NO PURPLE! But I doubt he and Sloth are gonna share light blue. Quite literally no way in Hell. At least he's got his silver clothes on thank fuck

Fifth: Envy's got so much gold the only silver is in the detailing on his shirt 😭

Sixth: Greed has hella green on his and only the little bits of red in the detailing

Seventh: okay so at least Sloth's has only that sort of brass detailing on it. That's accurate. So I'm going to ASSUME for NOW that his colors are brass and light blue. If it's anything else I'm going to have stroke

(For real though I get they had to made some artistic choices and I love how they look like old sculptures)

(just laughing thinking about their reactions if they saw these. Pride wouldn't be caught True Dead™ in black and gold, Lust and Gluttony would be like "where TF are my colors??")

(3) What would the assumptions be if the day of the Lord had already arrived? How would the world change?

(4) Who is "the lawless one" in this passage? Has he been revealed?

(5) The author mentions "by letter, as though from us". Were people spreading forgeries or misinformation in the name of Paul? How could the audience know what was genuine?
