I don't give a damn what anyone says! The shoujo/otome/villainess isekai genre is great and I'm so glad it's getting so much attention! And I really hope they give Raeliana and Doctor Elise full adaptations since both those series are completed. Cuz if they don't,there's really no point. Also,looking forward to more of the ones we’re getting and hope we get more.

while wounded in the chaos that was the cataclysm that shook all of teyvat to its core, the pyro dragon sovereign used their remaining authority to create and nurture a successor within one of the volcanoes of natlan. and despite the grievous injuries the sovereign sustained, they forced themselves to stay alive until they knew their successor would be safe.

the pyro sovereign died before the successor would see the sun for the first time.

two centuries after the cataclysm, as nations still recovered from the tragedy, that very volcano which incubated the new pyro sovereign erupted, giving life to the new dragon born from the flames. the flames could change into any form it desired, and on seeing humans in natlan for the first time, the flames evolved into the form of a young woman - not without the traits of a dragon; notably her horns and peculiar red markings by her eyes and the apples of her cheeks.

yet the flames she wielded from her authority were ones she could not easily control - not while she was so young.

flames destroyed almost anything she touched, all to the point she lived in fear of her own terrifying, yet beautiful, power. it forced her to flee from natlan, but even then her uncontrollable destruction sent blazes through the forests to the north of fontaine.

but that was where the inferno stopped. that was when the flames were put out by the newest dragon of water; the very same sovereign that inevitably took the newest dragon of flames - now given the name ildiko - under his wing. the melusines would soon keep the pyro sovereign company, alongside the queen of the depths being the mother ildiko never thought she'd have.

Speaking of Villainess genre,

The One Within the Villainess is really good. The art is superb, and the writing is snappy. It does include a wish fulfillment of saving the world and being a goody two shoes, but with an interesting villainous twist

Where does the original villainess go, if you take her place? In "The One Within the Villainess" she didn't go anywhere, she just took a backseat while the reincarnated girl controlled her body. She didn't mind tho, because the heroine loved the villainess and wanted her to live a happy life so she did her best to achieve that in case the villainess returned.

All that better life and world shattered when the Main Character of the story reincarnated as well. The MC was a total bitch and a bully to the Heroine, and in the end the Heroine shut down. When that happened the Villainess awakened and promised to rain vengeance on everyone who hurt the Heroine, especially the MC.

It's like, very funny how our protagonist does the right thing for wrong reasons. You get the good-good power fantasy of being the savior of the world beloved by everyone because you're "so kind" while also plotting revenge to strike down the MC

The volume starts with Tiara and Aqua returning to Marineforest, Aqua’s country, to announce their engagement and prepare for the wedding but it doesn’t take long for them to run into Aishila, the protagonist of the sequel game who Akari warned Tiara about. Thankfully, it would appear that she is not someone who was isekai’d, like Tiara and Akari were, and she doesn’t seem to have any romantic interest towards Aqua but Tiara can’t help but feel anxious and jealous. To make things more dramatic, Marineforest is home to many fairies and the forest fairies have become enamoured with Tiara and this includes the king of the forest fairies, Keith, who takes on the appearance of a handsome man and flirts with Tiara.

I gotta say, Aqua really needs to up his game in the communication department. I really do not know why he didn’t give Tiara a heads up and say that he needed to spend some time with Aishila due to her immense power meaning bad things for the kingdom if she’s unhappy. Tiara would still probably get jealous but at least she wouldn’t be left in the dark. He pulled this shit to a lesser extent in the first volume with Akari but there it made more sense because he probably didn’t consider that Tiara would get anxious over their relationship but he should know better now. And Tiara really should feel more comfortable with communicating her anxieties to Aqua so hopefully that character development will come.

The setting for this volume is far more fleshed out than it was last volume, to the point where it almost feels like a completely different world. Tiara mentions that she has weak magic and she can infuse her magic into her cooking to provide some light healing effects and I’m like “was magic ever mentioned in volume 1? Like, I know that Akari had some magic but I thought that was something unique to her”. Despite the inconsistency with the world, I did think that it was interesting with the fairies and their powers and everything so I didn’t mind it too much.

Overall, though, I just thought this volume was okay. I did enjoy it more than the first volume and Akari is definitely my favourite character in the series due to some of her actions at the end of this volume but I’m still not really invested in the romance and drama that is the core of this series so I wouldn’t rate the volume higher than 3 stars.

Adaptation Notes:

The manga continues to be enjoyable and I really like the cute designs for the fairies. There are a couple of small scenes that were cut but they didn’t make much of a difference to the story so I’m fine with them being cut. The art is so cute that I still would say that the manga is a more enjoyable read than the light novel for me.

I am interested in reading volume 3 but, again, I’m just not that invested in the romance so I’m going to take a break between the volumes because I have some series that I want to read more than this series. Hopefully, I will eventually get around to reading volume 3 but it’s just not a priority at the moment. I still definitely recommend the series if you want a light and fluffy romance though.
