What is Tumblr’s EDA Ranking?
the EDA ranking tournament you’ve not been waiting for! this is not an elimination bracket! this is to determine a ranking of 1st to 73rd place.
ROUND FIVE: POLL THREE
The Sleep of Reason by Martin Day
vs…
Halflife by Mark Michalowski
Tumblr media
- this is just for fun! all pairings were randomly generated by a ranking website
- you can leave propaganda in replies and reblogs
- no books will be eliminated
- this is absolutely not a perfect way of ranking, i can't be bothered to think any harder about this

Rememer when the Cuban Revolution happened and they destroyed all the hospitals and the life expectancy increased by 4 years while the revolution was happening and caught up to Denmark's life expectancy in the following 10 years. It was wild how everyone in Cuba died from no medicine but the life expectancy kept shooting up dramatically. The concept of "importing medicine" ceased to exist during the revolution which caused the hospital and medicine factory explosions to completely wipe out Cuba's access to any medication at all. because revolution is when you burn the entire country to the ground and suddenly the government is different.

Alright, I had to go look this up to see if it's real, and it is! The Sleep of Reason was a gallery show that ran in 2014 and focused on people who manipulate their bodies, among other human body themes.
This particular sculpture is titled Chelsea Charms (2010) and modeled after the adult entertainer of the same name, who up until 2020 used plastic surgery to increase the size of her breasts until they weighed 40 pounds each.
Here she is in the gallery space:

Another piece from that show that I think Tumblr would appreciate is Buck & Allanah (2009):

From the website:
"The artist believes Buck & Allanah offers a comment about the possibility of transformation, about how people can make their own worlds. This sculpture throws the very notion of identity into question, exposing it as a fragile, complex and multi-layered construction, interminably co-existent with our external physical selves. Buck & Allanah shows that culture and identity have the potential to triumph over biology."
Anyway, Quinn has some really interesting works. I wish I could see this gallery show today. I highly recommend checking out the page for The Sleep of Reason.
