I'll be honest, the HN fandom needs to start using characters from more stuff aside from the games, the show, and the Nicky and Aaron trilogy.
Reset Day, Bosco Bay, and RB Disaster have a lot of characters with so much potential expansion, I need to see more love to them even if certain stories aren't the best (sorry RD, your characters continue to be cool tho).

Who are your fav HN characters?
Ooo okay! I'll give u my top one from all the IP... It'll get long if I list all of them so I'll give the top 9 I have been in this fandom for 8 years help me
Also heavy spoilers for like.... The books... And the first graphic novel....
1. Obvi the main 4 kids from the books (Nick, Enzo, Trinity & Maritza) super super grew fond of them since book 2 and have made them basically my childhood version of a girl group from a cartoon show (think winx club). They really play off each other well, Trinity having this very lawful chaoticness with Maritza (also when Maritza tells Nick "Oh yeah we bribed the teen to like distract Ted for 5 bucks" that shit was SOOO FUNNY) and then ofc there is Enzo... Ough I have alot to say about Enzo, he truly turned me around and made me start loving like "The asshole frenimie" relationship he had with Nick and god does he and Nick steal the whole of book 2 with chapter 7 for me, and also just like the one thing I enjoy out of them is the fact despite how they can be investigating on Ted, they're still children and they're very flawed and likable like you don't have to take my word:
Tumblr media
Carly Anne West (The Author) really characterizes them so well and just god I love these four
2. I don't see these two tend to get talked about it's really sad cause like I really love the two, Jen and Allie from the Bosco Bay Graphic Novel HUGE SPOILERS FOR HN BOSCO BAY
Tumblr media
Something about the way Zac Gorman writes these two are so infatuating especially cause they were the FIRST to confront Ted about his negligence and willingness to hide about the disappearance of Joe (Jen's brother and Allie's cousin) also just off tell him girl:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Minor characters again from the books but in a way really needed uh.... (specifically) Luanne & Jay Roth and Miguel Esposito..... (Yes.... Nick's parents... And Maritza & Enzo's dad in the books their mom fucking oofed) I really love the breath of fresh air that is the adults seriously they are so fun and charming from Jay's sweet tooth that Nick has a whole list of every treat Jay will consume just on a thought, Luanne's literal grief that is her mom despite her anger when she found out her mom left Nick in a storage closet in the fucking SUPERMARKET WHEN HE WAS 4-3??? CHRIST???? Also literally Miguel is everything Theodore wished he was and told Jay off after saying Ted should be in a lawsuit after killing a 7 year old girl with his death machine rollercoasters (also he's a single father I love single fathers 🫶🫶🫶) they also really play off each other so well and honestly idk if I want to call them archetypes for parents who aren't aware of how their child feels cause like... You kinda get why they were so busy but they still care and will protect their respective kids and like ngl it really puts in perspective how Ted is kinda... A bad father in the books....
If I had to categorize then like... Here lol obviously yes Nick really holds a place in my heart (He's the reason I'm trans and I realize my own traumatic experience) but like seriously I LOVE to talk about the parents and Jen and Allie cause I feel I'm the only one who really love them
Tumblr media
Sorry if like I'm super uper rambly but it's soo fun to talk about them 😭😭

ehy i have a question for you
Do you think the Shadow man is real?
Problably seems an easy question considering that act 3 and act finale happens in Nicky's mind but let me explain
The Shadow man is pretty much implicate to have tortured Mr Peterson as well,so not just Nicky met the Shadow man.Other than that the Shadow man is implicate to be the scary Neighbor from Secret neighbor, they both shapeshift, represent multiple fears and the scary Neighbor turn into the Shadow man if killed
And from what we can see in Raven Brooks disaster,The secret of Bosco bay and Search and Rescue the dreams in hello neighbor universe are at least in part real,so the Shadow man could potentialy be a real entity
Another Proof is that you can hear the shadow man breath in act 2,that is a Memory,NOT a dream. And the Shadow man also appears behind Nicky at the start of act 3,if he is just an illusion then why should he appear behind Nicky, where Nicky can't see him(it doesn't even any implication Nicky noticed him)
And yes, Shadow man is the manifestation of traumas and fears, but why that should mean he isn't real? Supernatural exist in hello neighbor, and the guest Is a real creature that potentialy is the incarnation of Bad Luck,So why couldn't the Shadow man be a incarnation of the concept of fears but still be real?
Hope you will respond
Good question. Thinking about it more, as well as reading your thoughts, it may be possible that he could be "half" real, or something like that. It as appeared in Nicky and Mr. Peterson's mind as shown in the games. Although, it's only in Their minds after all. So, it could be some entity that does this kind of shit to people, or it could be just something similar that goes in the heads of others.
Hope that answered your question

Cousins
inspired by @daradiostarz
Tiktok. The clock's handles slowly turned around the dusty grandfather clock showing that it was exactly 5:00 O'clock. Jen fiddled with her fingers picking and pulling at the skin around her fingernails, her eyes focused on the dark spots on her jeans. Her whole body was stiff and straight waiting for her cousin to return home. After the Peterson incident Allie and Jen had grown a lot closer Jen allowing herself to open up with Allie more than any stupid school counselor could ever coax her into doing. The death of her brother was traumatising yes but she didn’t need to be babied and told that “death is natural” those same people blind to what that bastard had done. She had seen her brother's ghost and Mr Peterson crushed under his own death trap of a creation so why was it so complicated to ask one simple question?!
She was nervous though! The question she had been wanting to ask Allie for years now was difficult yet easy. However, whenever she wanted to, the words always got stuck in her throat and she would end up changing the topic of the conversation entirely.
“She would still be your cousin” rang through her head; she didn't know how Allie would respond to her question. She checked the clock on her bedside table again, her eyes flickering all around the room like a deer in headlights “JEN I’M BACK!” Allie called from down the stairs making Jen tighten her grip on the bed sheets. She took a deep shaky breath in “Hey Allie!” She called back waiting for the front door to close and the sound of feet running up the stairs. The door creaked open revealing her cousin standing there leaned against the doorframe. “Hey Jen!” She replied with her whole face lighting up at the sight of her cousin.
“How was it?” Jen asked, trying to stay calm she could tell Allie anything…right? “It was good!” Allie said before plonking herself next to Jen on the bed leaning back slightly, her relaxed form next to Jens tense one. “ Allie?” Jen asked, watching her cousin stretch out her arms flopping lazily "yess?" She answered with a goofy wide grin across her face “c…can I talk to you about something?” Jen replied. Allie nodded slowly, folding her arms and looking up at the ceiling mildly bored “sure shoot!” Jen gulped.
“ There's this girl in my class…” she started thinking carefully about what she wanted to say Allie nodded “well she really likes this other girl and well she doesn't know how to tell her best friend”. Allie sat up looking at her cousin with those sweet innocent brown eyes. "Isn't it you, isn't it?" she asked, sweat coursing through Jen’s back, her hand grasping the dolphin charm tighter and tighter.
God. Damn. IT!
Jen took a deep breath while digging into the palm of her hand and saw crescent moons starting to form. Allie was smart, really smart. She could figure out people and emotions so easily! So of course she would have figured it out quickly. Jen took a deep breath in meeting Allie's gaze as she sat up and squirmed to get comfortable. "Allie, I’m…I’m bisexual" Jen closed her eyes not knowing what to expect. Jen sat there stone-faced, unsure if Allie was intending to stay silent or abandon the conversation and ignore her comment... "It's okay" Jen snapped out as she heard the answer.
No yelling? No door slamming...nothing. "W...what?" Jen asked dumbly, not believing Allie would accept her and her sexuality. "Yes Jen, I'm okay with you being gay" Allie replied, gently tying her hands with her cousins. "It's ok to be who you are..." Jen didn't know why but she suddenly felt tears well in her eyes. “I…Thank You” she managed to sputter out before bursting into tears, fat droplets of salty water running down her cheeks. Allie pulled Jen into a hug and Jen inhaled the scent of strawberry shampoo as her tears turned to sniffles. "I'm so glad you're here".
here is another fanfic! I'm sorry that they have been a little slow and i'm sorry if it doesn't make sense/ spelling mistakes but please enjoy

Mr. Peterson is horrible.
Listing everything in memory I know Ted has done wrong just from Bosco Bay, the games, and the first 3 books. AHEM AHEM. Intentionally removed safety features from park rides because it "slows them down"; manslaughter of a child in Bosco Bay which he had to cover up with a design flaw he admitted was a mistake, but "wasn't his fault"; then tried to threaten the kid trying to get evidence of her brother's death due to his ride by grabbing her injured friend and threatening her for the evidence; knocking out a police officer/security guard whilst breaking into Bosco Bay; freaking out at Aaron for accidentally turning off a radio; stealing property from his latest failed park; multiple counts of property damage and multiple OSHA violations, building UNDER peoples houses and a small chunk of the town; faking the disappearances of 3 kids; burying his daughter and keeping her death a secret; kidnapping his son and forcing him to believe that he deserves everything bad happening to him; kidnapping the kid across the street because he wants to save his best friend; apparently lots of stuff revolving around the family to where they're all scared of him at the beginning of Book 1; fleeing the police; fleeing multiple countries from his failed parks.

We Can
Whoo here’s that monarchy AU I mentioned. This trope has been done to death, but I’ve always liked it and I figured what the hell, might as well write it.
“Lucy, you can’t.”
Lucy gasped as Natsu took her by surprise and cornered her in the hallway. She had really hoped Natsu wouldn’t find out. She’d been avoiding him all day just to prevent this confrontation.
Not because she wanted to keep away from him, no, she’d never want that, but because she didn’t think she could handle this conversation.
“You can’t, Luce,” he repeated, grabbing her forearm, sensing her wish to run from him.
“We… can’t talk here…” she whispered, stubbornly trying to will away the tears that filled her eyes.
“Then we’ll go to your quarters,” and Lucy didn’t get to say anything before he dragged his princess away.
That’s who she was. A princess. Far higher in the court than he, a mere manservant to the royal family.
Lady Lucienne Heartfilia, Crown Princess of Bosco, and Natsu Dragneel, nothing but a servant.
Natsu didn’t take much care as he swung the door to her chambers open and pushed her inside. A quick glance around to make sure of an absence of maids, and he stole her lips with a kiss.
When they were alone, titles didn’t matter. No Princess Heartfilia and no Servant Dragneel. They were just Lucy and Natsu.
And they were desperately in love.
If the palace found out, she’d be scandalized and he’d be beheaded, certainly.
Lucy whined against his lips as her tears fell freely, pushing against his chest and turning her face away.
“We can’t do this anymore, Natsu…”
“Bullshit,” he growled, holding her cheek in a gentle manner that didn’t match the anger in his voice and expression.
“I’m engaged, Natsu,” she whimpered.
“To a man you’ll never love,” he growled again, hands tensing and his hold on her arm tighter.
“It’s not up to me.”
“That isn’t fair.”
“It’s not my choice.”
“That isn’t fair.” Natsu tried to lift her chin to look her in the eyes, but she refused his goading.
“That doesn’t matter,” she whispered, barely heard by Natsu. “It’s not my choice.”
“What would you do if it was?” he demanded, anger and frustration still evident, and a watery edge to his voice giving away the tears he’d held back.
“It doesn’t matter what I would do.”
“And if it did?” he further urged.
“Then I would… Then I would…” Lucy burst into a harder sob. She couldn’t say it. It could never happen.
“Then you would marry me?” he whispered huskily in her ear. She barely heard it, but the words were powerful. He’d never completely asked her to marry him in such a way. It only brought on fuller waves of salty streams down her cheeks because she knew it couldn’t happen. “Answer me, Lucy, please.”
“yes…” she forced through her throat, choked with tears. “Yes, I would!” Lucy collapsed against his chest, sobbing into his shirt as she clutched it tight in her grip. She felt Natsu press a trembling kiss to the top of her head and wrap his shaky arms around her.
“Then do that,” he suggested as delicately as a gossamer-winged glass fairy, like one single word from her would shatter him.
“I can’t, Natsu, I can’t,” she sobbed.
His heart clenched tightly at her answer. “We can.”
“I can’t…” she repeated again. “The kingdom…”
“The kingdom will be fine. You even said so yourself that the Duke Eucliffe is far more fit to rule.” Lucy had said that. Her cousin was well on his way to being a wonderful and benevolent king. The only thing preventing that was the fact that she was next in line. As soon as she left, it would be he who’d be heir. “We’ll run away. The dead of night. We’ll run to Fiore, make a life there. No one will find us.”
“You underestimate my father, Natsu.”
“And you underestimate me. And you underestimate how much I love you.”
Natsu carefully took his arms from her, moving to the wide window beside the bed and quietly swinging it open.
“We could slip away right now, and no one would be any the wiser.”
And then he was silent, watching her, waiting for a reaction.
Lucy furiously rubbed at her dripping eyes, trying to keep her sobs at bay, before collapsing on the floor in a puddle of skirt, cries quite audible. Natsu could hear trembling whimpers of “I can’t,” mixed in with the incoherent wails.
Natsu moved back to her, taking the hands she was crying into and insisting once again that, “We can.”
“No! I can’t risk them hurting you!” Lucy wept.
He pulled her in for another tight embrace. “And I can’t have you used and trapped and unhappy for the rest of your life,” he spoke softly into her ear. “I refuse to let that happen.”
Lucy shook in his arms as more wails wracked her body.
“But-“
“But nothing, Luce. I love you. I love you so godforsaken much that I am ready and willing to risk absolutely everything if it means we can be together and happy.”
Lucy sniffed and looked into his eyes, so full of sincerity and determination and love. Before Lucy knew what she was doing, she was pulling his face to hers in another fierce, desperate kiss.
“I…” Lucy sniffed and rubbed at her eyes again before letting out another choked sob and resting against his chest.
“Luce, just don’t worry about what could happen to me, to us. Think about what we will have. What we can finally have.”
Lucy did think. She thought about fleeting kisses left in secret. She thought about hopes and wishes whispered between lovers on quiet nights. She thought about dreams that graced her sleep and made her heart wrench in the morning time because of how impossible they were.
But they could be possible. If she only took the risk.
Natsu’s heart leapt as he felt Lucy nod against his chest.
“Okay,” she whispered.
“Okay?” he repeated, almost scared he’d misheard her.
Lucy nodded again, lifting her head up and wiping again at her lingering tears. When she opened her eyes to him, he saw a new beautiful light in them.
“I can do this,” she said, voice almost shaky.
“You can do this,” he reassured.
They were going to do this.
“We can,” they announced together, determined.

Welcome back
Sunlight and birdsong filled the air. A battered radio played dull, drab music. It would suddenly stop playing and spit out a ridiculously high note when its batteries ran low. Allie had her shoulders propped up against the flimsy old fence of her cousin Jen’s garden, an old tattered book in her hands. She watched Jen peer into the clouds. Allie gave a sad smile. Sometimes, she found Jen talking to the clouds almost as if it were her brother Joe. In long, thick strands, her black hair draped across the grass. Allie let out a small laugh. The braid she had woven into Jen’s hair a few days ago was still there even though she had heard her cousin state a matter of factly “I’ll pull it out later I’m not five Allie” but she seemed as if she had grown fond of it. “ Do you want a drink?” Allie asked, closing her book and tucking it under her arm. The sun heat was getting to her and the sweat on her back was beginning to soak through. Jen sat up and her t-shirt was also wet not from her sweat but from the damp grass from the water fight that had broken out. Compared to her cousin’s light pink t-shirt and sunflower necklace. She wore a pitch-black shirt with a skull on the front as well as a dolphin necklace despite the sweltering temperatures.
“ Sure, how about we go into town and go to that tasty slushy place?” she said. Allie nodded enthusiastically, her brown curls bouncing up and down slightly. Jen grinned at her and wandered into the house searching for the car keys and money that their mum/aunt had left for them. This was while she was on some sort of business trip. “Do not and I mean do not go back to that old abandoned theme park. We don't need a repeat of last summer do we?” She said the word summer bitterly like she wasn’t talking about the lovely warm month filled with laughter and (for Allie) hayfever while the winter months were spent indoors watching cartoons and reading magazines. Jen threw the keys into the air and caught them in her hand with a triumphant smirk on her face. Allie sat down and grinned, "Oh no I'm about to pass out, you'll have to carry me" she pushed her top lip out and gave Jen puppy dog eyes as she marched to her cousin, grabbing her by the foot and dragging her around the yard. Jen caught the book and placed it on the patio after Allison yelled, "Stoooppp ok ok ok I'm willing to walk!" Allie stood up shaking, picking up her book that was lying by her feet and tossing it to Jen. After throwing the keys at her cousin, she rushed for the front door. "I'll race you!" She bolted down the street leaving Allie confused and locked in the door before chasing her cousin down the street.
'Slurp's Slushies' was a small soda shop on the corner that sold an assortment of things ranging from pear drops to ice cream floats. The two girls had managed to nab a seat at the long bar that stretched from one end of the room to the large window on their left side. The seats were old fashioned bar stools that were made from old leather that was dyed a deep red. Allie swung around on her seat sticking her legs out and almost hitting a waitress who was precariously balancing two heavy root beers on a tray. She shot her a glare and walked off to a smiling family at a booth tucked away in the corner. Jen ordered an ice cream soda float while Allie ordered a strawberry soda. They were happily talking and sipping on their drinks. The atmosphere was so light they were engrossed in their conversation that they didn't notice the door to the shop opening and a young man entered. He was dressed in a white shirt with red cuffs and a yellow flannel shirt. He was wearing dark blue jeans and red shoes. His brown hair fell over his eyes that scanned the room. He spotted the only seat left. He plopped himself down next to Jen who for some reason couldn't take her eyes off him. She recognised him but she didn’t know where he was from maybe from a movie or something. She turned back to her drink. Allie also looked back shyly when their eyes met. When the man looked at her with drowsy eyes and purple eyebags, she asked him, "Hello, sir, what would you like?" “Yes please can i have…” he trailed off staring at the black chalkboard menu above him “one large black coffee” he reached into his pocket and pulled out a creased leather wallet he produced a few crumpled bank notes placing them on the bar sliding them over the waitress picking them up and putting them in the cash register “that will be out in a moment sir” she said sweetly.
The man seemed to lean back in his stool tapping his fingers against the wooden surface. Jen looked at him again “It’s considered rude to stare” he said. His voice was gruff and gravely like he smoked but he didn’t smell of smoke at all. Jen looked away again, her cheeks burning with shame. “I’m sorry sir.” She said quietly. The man let out a small laugh and rolled his eyes. “Don't worry about it kid, I have taken into account that I look like death.'' Jen smirked at her joke “you look like you need sleep”. Just as she said that the waitress returned and placed down a large black coffee next to his hand. He took it graciously and took a large sip. “ Who’s your friend?” he asked, flicking his head towards Allie who was innocently sipping her drink and swinging her legs back and forth. Jen looked at her and said “ She is my cousin.” The man let out a slow nod. He seemed as if his body was about to give way and he was going to flop down onto the counter sprawled out. He finished his drink and stood up, his figure towering over Jen. He said "seeee you around kid” and with that he left the shop walking down the street, his hands deep inside his pockets.
Later that evening the girls had decided to get take out pizza for dinner and watch some movies, old romances (to Jen’s disappointed groans) and Horror (to Allie's girly screams). They both sat snuggled up in opposite corners of the couch eating pizza and covered in blankets. CRASH Both of the girls froze in fear the crash had come from the kitchen. They both looked at each other. Jen motioned for Allie to crawl over to her side of the couch while she checked out the source of the noise. She didn’t have anything at her disposal to use as a weapon. Instead, she gulped and silently made her way to the kitchen. The floor was covered with smashed glass. Someone was laid down in a foetal position the coughing Jen turned up her nose as a strong iron smell hit her she looked down at her feet at the absurd amount of blood “oh no” she said gingerly touching the person incase they were faking it and just getting ready to attack “this can't be good” she rolled them over to have a look at their face ready to call the police if necessary she gasped as she saw the persons face. It was the guy from the shop.

See Right Through Me (Harry Wells x Reader)
Rating: T
Summary: Waking up in S.T.A.R. Labs, with no recollection of how you got there, you suffer from a mild head injury. Strange things start happening to you; seeing things you shouldn't be seeing. Tests on you are led by the man known as Harrison Wells and what is up with his peculiar behaviour around you?
Tumblr media
“Guys, guys look.”
“She's coming to.”
“Well stand back, don't crowd her.”
You hear the buzzing voices of strangers before you are able to register their awfully blurry faces.
“Can you tell us your name?” says a pretty boy with a sweet voice. “It's okay, we're here to help.”
“Uh, yeah.” You tell them your name. Your head feels like it's splitting in half, causing you to cringe hard. “Ow, Jesus.”
“What's wrong?” asks a wavy haired woman. “You can tell me, I'm a doctor. Doctor Snow.”
“My head. It feels like it's going to explode.”
“Where is the pain in your head, specifically? Are you able to pinpoint it for me?”
You think about it for a moment, but that only makes the pain worse. “Ahh, it's- it actually feels like it's right behind my eyeballs.” Doctor Snow jots down the information on her clipboard.
“Cisco, grab that vial from the cart for me, please?” The shorter guy in the graphic tee, now known to you as Cisco, retrieves a vial of blue liquid and hands it to the doctor. “Here, drink this.”
You eye it reluctantly in your hand, then take a swig of the most tart substance you've ever tasted.
“Ugh, gross.”
Doctor Snow takes the vial back. “Do you happen to remember how you got here?” she asks. Everyone is looking at you expectantly.
“I- no, I'm sorry,” you shake your head downward. “I don't.”
“That's... okay.”
Lifting your head back up slightly, you spot a tall, dark haired man with glasses listening in over by the entranceway across the room. He looks vaguely familiar.
“Um, who is that?” you whisper to the pretty boy.
“Who do you mean? That's Cisco there, Caitlin, and I'm Barry.” You shake your head.
“No, who's that?” now nodding your head in a forward direction. The three seem confused as they look around for your mystery eavesdropper.
“There's no one else in here,” says Caitlin cautiously. How...?
You get up from the medical bed despite the insistence to lie down and rest from these three. The sound of your bare feet padding across the floor is the only noise to be heard in the room. As you grow closer to the man, still intently trying to listen in, you wonder why he can't see you approaching. You wave your hand at him and yet he still doesn't move. Then, when you're close enough, you reach out to touch him, only to have your hand come in contact with a solid surface in the way. Something about your vision changes unexpectedly and the man disappears. In his place, clear as day, is a door. You press your ear against it. Footsteps retreat on the other side.
What is going on?
After a good night's rest in the S.T.A.R. Labs med bay, you feel good as new. Whatever the unexplainable blue liquid Caitlin had given you had successfully purged the pain inside your head. You felt like a brand new person.
But the med bay area was far too quiet. Getting up and out of bed, you threw on a conveniently placed navy blue S.T.A.R. Labs sweatshirt and started to wander the hallways of the building. Though it wasn't too hard to tell where everyone was due to the loud conversation taking place in the room further down the hall.
“Dude, I dunno,” you hear Barry say carefully.
“Um, hello! Han did shoot first, are you kiddin' me?” Cisco's voice raised.
“Ugh, not this again,” Caitlin resigns, annoyed. This is when you make your appearance.
“You know, some claim Han and Greedo shot at the same time.” Four heads turn in your direction.
“Hey! She's up and moving!” Cisco calls out. “Also, we'll definitely be talking about this later.”
“How are you doing, (Y/N)?” asks pretty boy Barry.
“Much, much better, thanks to Doctor Snow's disgusting blue cocktail.”
“Call me Caitlin,” she says. “We're all so glad you're feeling well.” Your eyes scan those of your heroes... and one other. Off to the side, stands the mysterious man you had seen across the room yesterday. He stands tall, possibly six feet, very poised. Dark wispy hair. His black long sleeve shirt not keeping his muscles a secret. But it's not just his shocking attractiveness that you notice. It's his awkward stance and seemingly strong will to avoid looking at you. Of course, this only makes you want to confront him more.
“You,” you address the brooding stranger. “I saw you listening in at the door to the med bay yesterday.” Everyone exchanges curious glances with each other. “What's your name?”
The man looks at you, startled.
“I'm sorry, I don't know where to begin,” he says. “You mean you don't know who I am?”
Wow, that was one of the most arrogant things I've ever heard. “No, I don't. Should I?”
“Doctor Harrison Wells.”
“Well, Harrison, I wanted to-”
“Doctor Wells.”
Double wow. Your jaw drops out of sheer bafflement. You scoff. “Oh excuse me, Doctor Wells,” the sarcasm heavy in your voice. “But would you care to enlighten me on why you were eavesdropping on us at the door?”
Harrison's arms cross. “Even if this were true, how could you possibly know that?”
“I... I don't know exactly. What I do know is that one minute I see you snooping in the shadows and the next...” You can't even fully wrap your head around it yourself. “The door is blocking you from sight.”
“As doors tend to do.”
God, this man is irritating.
“Very curious,” Caitlin jumps in. “So you're saying you were able to see through the door?”
“Yeah, I guess so.”
“Whoa. Like X-ray vision...” Cisco says to himself.
“Or maybe I'm just seeing things? I could have been hit over the head for all I know, seeing as I have no clue how I got here in the first place.” Harrison turns away slightly, his face out of view.
“You know what this means, don't you Harry?” Cisco sounds excited for some reason. And why does Cisco get to call him Harry?
“Yes, Ramon, I believe I do,” Harrison agrees, his attitude turning around. He rubs his hands together and heads for the door. “Ms. (Y/L/N), will you follow me this way, please?”
“Why? Where are we going?”
Harrison Wells turns back to face you and winks. “It's time to run some tests.”
The giant-ass treadmill in the test room generated a couple questions for you, but you let them go. So long as you didn't have to run on it, you didn't really care. But these “tests” that they were going to perform on you? This was currently in the forefront of your mind. Will the tests hurt? Will the result be I've gone totally insane?
“Now, Ms. (Y/L/N),” Harrison says, while Cisco trails behind him. “You claim to have had the ability to see me through a door, correct?”
“Yes...”
“In order to prove if Ramon's hypothesis is indeed accurate, it would be my honor to poke and prod you.”
Your eyebrows shoot up at Harrison's choice of words. If you weren't mistaken, the tips of his ears were growing red. Cisco makes a fist near his mouth to cover his snickering.
“What? No. Not-”
“Smooth,” Cisco mutters.
“Um, poor choice of words, excuse me. Ms. (Y/L/N), please have a seat here.” You do so, shaking off the scene which had passed. “Cisco, I'll need you to grab the appropriate materials from the equipment room.”
“Roger that, Bosco.”
Harrison gives him an odd look.
“Sorry, thought I'd try a new nickname. I'm on it.” Cisco doesn't make it far, however. He pats himself over and spins around like a dog chasing its tail. “Damn it. Where'd I put my key card?”
You're staring at Cisco in the midst of a frenzy when something weird happens. Your vision alters itself, allowing you to zone in on a small rectangular object in the area where his top shirt pocket would be.
“What's this here...?” You walk up to him and fish out, lo and behold, his security key card.
“You- I knew it! X-ray vision! You'll be needing a name...” Cisco runs off to fetch the equipment leaving you with the sometimes arrogant, sometimes awkward Wells.
“Fascinating. When looking at Cisco's shirt, would you say your vision differed from normal in any way?”
“Kind of. The key card was glowing in his pocket, except I saw right through his pocket like it wasn't even there. His shirt was sort of brightly outlined- highlighted. Translucent. I'm sorry if that doesn't make any sense.”
“On the contrary. It's very helpful. Are you able to 'turn on' your power, so to speak?”
“I don't know. It just kind of happened these last two times.”
“Why don't you give it a try?” Harrison suggests. Having no idea how to begin, you squint while looking around the room, trying to focus on something.
“I'm not quite sure...” When your eyes glide back to Harrison, his clothes... well... your vision only shows their outlines.
Oh my god, what-
“Ahhhh!” You try to look literally anywhere else, head jerking around like a robot on the fritz.
“Everything all right, Ms. (Y/L/N)?” Your lips flatten in embarrassment. Cisco races back in the room with a silver briefcase of materials in hand.
“What'd I miss?”
“If I'm not mistaken, I'd say Ms. (Y/L/N) has just seen me sans clothing.”
“I suddenly have to go to the bathroom,” you attempt an excuse.
“Side effect?”
“No, Cisco,” you tell him. “Not a side effect.” Taking one last glimpse at Harrison, clothes back intact, he looks entertained at your sudden hastiness. You suppose you're not the only one who can get uber awkward. If not, more so. You got to get the hell out of there.
Due to further analysis of your powers, the lovely people at S.T.A.R. Labs asked if you could stay with them a little while longer. It was passed on to your workplace that you had been hospitalized for an indefinite amount of time, so you had nowhere else to be, really. Caitlin wanted to monitor your headaches and eye pains (which, with her help, have been happening less and less). Cisco wanted to engineer a device that lets the rest of them see what you were seeing when your X-ray vision was “turned on.” Barry only showed up every so often to check in on things. He seemed like a busy guy.
And Harrison?
These past couple days have been interesting around him. At first, you would use your newly harnessed power to scope out rooms before entering them to make sure Harrison wasn't in them. You didn't want to relive your accidental peep show. But most of the time, avoiding him couldn’t be helped. As a fellow scientist, he works alongside his younger colleagues to study you. Which is funny, because you're quietly trying your best to study him.
Like how you've noticed when he talks he likes to put emphasis on certain words to get his point across.
Or when his brow furrows when working out a problem.
Or when he removes his glasses in a swift motion and habitually bites the arm of them.
Not that you like him or anything. No. That would be ridiculous. This was just you taking an interest in science and the power of observation.
At the moment, you were taking a well-deserved rest in your beloved med bay bed. The bed where you had woken up from. It had been bothering you for days now. You needed to figure out how you had gotten to S.T.A.R. Labs in the first place. What was my first memory before waking up? Let's see...
It was raining, evening. The sun was setting behind the mountains.
You were walking home from work. A different route, in fact. You had thought it might be nice to change things up a bit.
There was a noise. The noise of a whimpering animal. It was coming from the direction of S.T.A.R. Laboratories. You decided to investigate.
A golden retriever cowered behind a hedge. You kneeled down to get closer but in an instant, it bolted. There was something else there.
Someone else. A hooded man towered over you. On his wrist, a tattoo of a strange symbol you've seen somewhere before.
There was a blinding light, alternating moments of vision loss, stumbling, and finally... heartbreaking blue eyes staring down at you. The rest was blackness.
Wait. You know those eyes. Didn't they belong to-
“Harry is acting weird.” Caitlin lingers in the doorway. “I've never seen him like this.”
“How do you mean?” shaken from your reverie.
“Where do I begin? Harry is normally a very prickly, all-business kind of guy. But now? He's a little playful, distracted in his work. He stumbles over his words when you're in the room. Not to mention the heartfelt stolen looks in your direction,” Caitlin lists off on her fingers. “Plus it was him who thought it would be safer for you to remain at S.T.A.R. Labs while discovering your potential. He definitely has a crush on you and I almost thought that kind of thing was impossible for him...”
“What? No! Caitlin, that's completely absurd!”
“You don't know the man like we do. It's all there, plain as day on his face! This is a phenomenon, actually.”
“And what do you expect me to do with all this information?”
“Do with it what you will.” The room falls silent.
“On a different note,” you try to change the embarrassing subject. “Has there been any record of a metahuman with a tattoo on his wrist?”
“What's the tattoo?”
“A symbol of, well, here.” You grab Caitlin's clipboard on the desk and a pencil and draw the tattoo from memory.
“That's the symbol for a radiation hazard. Does this have anything to do with that night?”
“It does, yes.”
“(Y/N), the metahuman with this tattoo has been taken into custody. Team Arrow took him down last night.”
“You're kidding?" She shakes her head. A weight feels like it has been lifted off your shoulders. You breathe a sigh of relief.
"This is the best news, thank you for that."
Over the intercom, the room fills with Cisco's loud voice: “Caitlin, we need you in the Cortex, and quick!" Caitlin turns and bolts, heels clacking like mad. In your mind, chasing after her was the only thing to do. Rounding the corner in the room they call the Cortex, you see a man in a red suit lying on the floor writhing in pain. Wait. Is that...?
“Arrgh! There's something lodged in my leg. You have to get it out!” the masked man yells. You rush closer to him and see the emblem on his chest. A lightning bolt.
The Flash.
The Flash is squirming on the floor crying out in agony. Caitlin kneels down beside him. “What happened? What hit you?”
“I don't know,” says the Flash through his gritted teeth. “One minute I was scoping out the shipyard and,” an intake of breath, “the next I'm getting shot in the leg from behind.”
“So you didn't see where the object was shot from?” comes the voice Harrison.
“No, gah!”
“I can't see anything,” Caitlin says examining through the hole she had to cut in the Flash's suit (much to Cisco's dismay). “It's like there's nothing there. The opening of the wound is obvious, but it appears there's nothing lodged in your leg. Whatever it is, it's invisible.” At that, you have a brainwave and kneel down beside Caitlin.
“Cisco, are the 'X-specs' ready?” you ask him.
“Oh, I like where this is going.” He brings you the never before tested x-ray glasses he had been working on.
You place the spectacles on your face, command yourself remain calm and concentrate hard on what you're about to do. A man's life is at stake. And not just any man, but the man who saves Central City on a daily basis. Now it was your turn to repay the favour.
You zone in on the leg wound and, as it happened previously, your eyes adjust to an altered vision.
“It's working! The tablet's showing what you're seeing!” Now you (and Cisco) are able to see the Flash's bare leg through his suit. All of his suit really. Gaze traveling upward, you can't deny that pretty boy face.
“Barry?!”
Silence.
“Secret's out, I guess,” mutters Cisco. Barry, The Flash, lets out another groan but does not address the proverbial cat out of the bag. Back on task, you focus on the entry point of the- hold on. That's an oddly shaped bullet.
“It's definitely a bullet, guys. But it's jagged along the sides. It looks like it'll hurt like a bitch if you try to remove it.”
“We have to get him to the med bay,” Caitlin insists.
“There's no time,” you say. “Caitlin, if I adjust my vision to see the insides of his leg, would you be able to surgically remove it by looking at the tablet?”
She pauses for a second.
“Let's do it.” She grabs her medical instruments to perform the extraction. Cisco brings the tablet over to her.
“Ready?”
Caitlin nods. “Barry, this is going to hurt. A lot,” she says, not trying to sugar coat it. “One... two...”
“AAARRRHHHHH!”
Barry was rushed to your home-away-from-home (the med bay bed) after the procedure. But that's okay. He needs it more right now. Which leaves you to your thoughts, pacing the Cortex in silence.
“Just a heads up, Ramon wants to call you 'Ms. X.'” Harrison leans in the entryway, arms folded.
“Does he give everyone with powers a name?”
“Essentially, yes.”
“I kinda like it.” There's a lull in the conversation, but then he speaks.
“That was quite heroic of you earlier.”
“I did what I could.”
Harrison walks over to you and puts a hand on your shoulder, voice turning soft. “It made all the difference.” God, his eyes are the purest blue I've ever seen. That thought sparks another.
“You were there that night.”
He nods. “I heard yelling from the security monitor in the Cortex,” he recounts grimly, not meeting your eyes at this moment. “You were being pursued by a man with a black hood, heading in the direction of the building's entrance. I saw you were stumbling and not running straight. So I snatched one of the energy weapons from the armory and ran like hell. By the time I reached the entrance, you were banging on the doors calling for help. Your attacker was close behind and I- I took a shot at him, sent the guy flying back with the gun's energy blast. He staggered up and fled before I could see his face.” Harrison's words paint the part of the picture that had been missing in your own memory. The scenes start to come together.
“But then... you collapsed in my arms. You were losing consciousness.” Harrison stops looking down at the floor and finally meets your gaze. He was undoubtedly the last image you saw before waking up in this foreign place and that makes you feel comfortable and warm inside.
“I understand you are a stranger to me and vice versa, but I thought I was losing you. I thought I was losing you as I held you in my arms and couldn't do anything about it. And I couldn't have that happen to me. Not again...” His words dripping with past experience trail off, and you aren't certain you want to press on the matter. “You wanted to know why I was eavesdropping outside that door?”
Harrison takes your hands and holds them between you both. “Because I didn't have the courage to step inside the room in case you were lying there dead. I was listening for a sign.”
“How can you possibly feel so much for me? You've only known me a few days.” You cannot deny the way you've been feeling around Harrison any longer; how you feel for this man who is pouring his heart out to you, something you wouldn't expect a man like him to do.
“(Y/N), it only takes one incredible circumstance to become a catalyst for a person's feelings on a matter. The events of that night were the catalyst. The rest is history.”
“You are truly an amazing man, Doctor Wells.”
“Thank you, I know.”
Ahaha! I knew the arrogance would resurface sometime soon!
“But you see, it takes an amazing person to know another.”
“I suppose that's true,” you say with a grin, slowly moving closer to him.
“And (Y/N)?”
“Yes?”
“You can call me Harrison. If you like. Everyone else calls me Harry due to, well, it's a long story."
“Really? What's with the change of heart?”
“I merely thought that if we were to get to know one another better, it might help to be a little more casual with the names. Besides, I'm not terribly fond of the nickname.”
“Great observation, Harrison.”
“And seeing as you've already seen me without my clothes... I think we've reached that level.”
“Oh my god.”
“Like what you saw?”
“You're the worst, you know that?” You playfully push him back but he reels you back in.
“Ah, but you haven't compiled sufficient evidence that I am, quote, 'the worst.' Maybe I'm actually the best.”
“Mind if I conduct an experiment?”
He says nothing, but you can see the red spreading to his ears as you move in closer to him, so close, lips not quite touching, and stay there for a second. The energy between you is sparking. You close the gap and kiss him softly. Harrison's hand finds your cheek while your arms lock around his neck. You break the kiss, feeling light as a feather.
"What did you learn?" he asks, clearing his throat. You give a thoughtful look.
"The results were inconclusive. More tests need to be taken."
"You know I love tests."
You laugh. "Yes, I'm aware of that. Now let's go check on Barry."
Harrison leads you out of the Cortex. "And don't even think about sneaking an x-ray glimpse from behind.."
"It was one time! And no promises."
