1992-Diana & Charles were headed towards separation. Lady Colin Campbell & Andrew Morton discuss their new books on America's Sally Show. Interesting to see Morton tell lies that could only have been fed to him by Diana.
Lady C was outnumbered on this show but over time, she was proven correct.
I wish Diana had made better decisions but she obviously did the best she knew how to do.
Also, take note of the NOprah Show COMMERCIALS sprinkled between takes. Definitely an interview to "bookmark."

(as many of you may or may not know) Studio Ghibli’s “Howl’s Moving Castle”, is based on the Diana Wynne Jones book by the same name, and there are actually a substantial number of differences between them!
i was curious how many people have experienced both or might like one more than the other, so i put together a poll to help us find out :)
to clarify, saying that you like one version more than the other does NOT mean that it’s better, or that the other one is worse or bad—i love both the book and the film! it’s just an expression of your own preference

"You're an ornament to the hub, Diana. I honestly think the Service would grind to a halt without your input. If it weren't so early, I'd suggest we raise a glass to you. As it is, we really have to press on now and deal with the rest of these matters." Diana said, "So there's no chance of relief, then?" Dame Ingrid was one hundred per cent concern. "Relief? My dear, you're not feeling stressed, are you? If you're feeling stressed, then obviously we'll have to do something about it." - Real Tigers, Chapter 5
Signs point to homoerotic tension, folks. 10/10, could be from a fic, and I wouldn’t second-guess it.

Finished reading The Black Bird Oracle last night, and this morning went to the ADOW subreddit (always a mistake), and every single post was negative. I loved the book and am excited for books 6 and 7 and maybe 8??? I'm going to get the audio book and listen to it to better absorb the details of the story

Accordingly, I told Agnes about my declaration of poverty, about the cookery book, the housekeeping accounts, and all the rest of it. "Oh, Trotwood!" she remonstrated, with a smile. "Just your old headlong way! You might have been in earnest in striving to get on in the world, without being so very sudden with a timid, loving, inexperienced girl. Poor Dora!" I never heard such sweet forbearing kindness expressed in a voice, as she expressed in making this reply. It was as if I had seen her admiringly and tenderly embracing Dora, and tacitly reproving me, by her considerate protection, for my hot haste in fluttering that little heart. It was as if I had seen Dora, in all her fascinating artlessness, caressing Agnes, and thanking her, and coaxingly appealing against me, and loving me with all her childish innocence. I felt so grateful to Agnes, and admired her so! I saw those two together, in a bright perspective, such well-associated friends, each adorning the other so much!
David Copperfield by Charles Dickens, Chapter 39: Wickfield and Heep
#diana rereads david copperfield#i havent been updating this tag bc i havent really had the motivation to make posts but yes im still in happyland rereading this book#AND THAT'S THAT ON THE RIVALRY BETWEEN AGNES AND DORA#seriously it's been 5 years and i still can't get over the stigma ppl attach to dora that i REALLY do not think is supported by the text#dora is an imperfect character. and often in dickens ppl associate imperfection with unworthiness.#dora IS worthy. like i cant get over it. she has all the right friends sympathizing with her#but so much of the audience do not sympathize w her faults or her backstory at all#despite it having sooooo much in common with david's mother. who no one ever argues is supposed to be unsympathetic!#dickens#david copperfield#agnes wickfield#dora spenlow#dora has all the faults that ppl don't care to sympathize with real beautiful young women who have been condescended to all their lives.#she feels incompetent she feels she has no control in anything. her best friend is her dog for a reason#bc jip doesn't expect anything of her but to love and care for him. she is not one of her masters#and for that matter she is less of a master of jip than she is his indulging friend.#in the saddest sense. jip and dora are equals. jip represents all the control that dora has in the world (very little)#and she loves jip. and many ppl love dora. but no one has any more expectations of her than the dog.#ppl accept her subservience.#ppl act like dora is just frivolous and doesn't care about making david's life any easier when she doesn't believe she can help him w thing#like domestic duties. but EVERYONE in dora's life tells david NOT to expect anything of her.#she is only REPEATING what everyone has already been telling her AND him the whole time. she has no self-efficacy#dora spenlow is a tragic heroine. love it or leave it

I finished reading Dogsbody, that's the fastest I've read a book in such a long time! I'm 🥺😭it was sooooo sweet and I feel like it ended with everything working out as well as it could given the situation
Oh and since I'm used to Diana Wynne Jones' writing style by now, I felt so clever noticing small details like "it's a surprise tool to help us later" XD

Was about to say that Diana should quit the Justice League but then I realized that may be an insane statement with T*m K*ng around so like in MY ideal world where she has an amazing writer that will do really interesting stories with this Diana should quit the League 👍

Slow Horses season 3 is coming out soon and I'm so excited. I won't get to watch as it does because I watch it with my dad so I'll have to wait until I go home for the holiday, but I'm just thrilled that my favourite fuck-ups are back at it again.

Of course she'd like the stairs scene. This is the woman who wrote Deep Secrets
I keep seeing posts about the differences between the book and the Ghibli adaptation of Howl's Moving Castle, and honestly there's a totally charming interview with Diana Wynne-Jones at the end of the kindle edition about how it worked :)

In issue 49# (vol 2, cover date December, 1990) of Wonder Woman, Ronnie Sarasky presented a special report for WBST-TV on the Amazonian hero. The report/issue worked as a way to highlight the events in Wonder Woman's life since her reboot going into its 50th issue. ("Look Back In Wonder: The Story So Far", Wonder Woman vol 2 49#, Comic, Event)
