The Bun In The Oven
The second I thought of this I knew I had to write it. I’ve had this idea in mind for a while now (more-so like a year), but I’ve finally got the inspiration (as well as motivation) to write it. Hope you enjoy! :)
“Darling, explain to me what we’re doing, again?” Edward asks as he’s dragged by Stacy to the palace’s kitchen, the lack of staff peaking Edward’s curiosity. Normally, the area was buzzed with staff pacing about quickly preparing the royal family’s meals, but the quiet ambiance made it oddly peaceful. A delicious smell wafted from the oven as Stacy lead him over towards it.
“I wanted to bake you something special, so I asked the staff if I could borrow the kitchen for a bit while I made your surprise.” Stacy grinned, rubbing his arms affectionately.
Her husband perked up immediately at the thought of food. He always adored his wife’s baking, and every treat she made was better than the next. His stomach gurgled in anticipation.
“Well, I can never say no to your baked goods.” He brought her closer towards him, his voice growling. “I still recall that pie you made me…and the whipped cream that followed…”
“Babe!” Stacy blushed scarlet. “What if someone hears us?!” She laughed. “Especially your parents!”
“I wouldn’t worry. They’re currently in a diplomatic meeting at the moment. They shouldn’t return for a while.”
Stacy rolled her eyes. “Anyways…” She walked over towards the stove, placing on some oven mitts. “…here’s what I wanted to show you!” Her face was beaming, eyes glistening with excitement. Whatever it was, Edward decided it must be something special. “Ta Da!” She opened the door.
In an instant Edward’s smile slowly dropped to a look of confusion. Inside was…some bread. A roll of bread. An ordinary, simple looking, roll of bread.
Stacy noted his change of expression, but carried on anyway. “Well?” She asked, her smile not diminishing in the slightest. “What do you think?”
Edward blinked. “It’s…” He tried to find the right words. “…very charming.” He tried. “It’s a very nice…bread?”
Stacy chuckled. “Babe…it’s a bun!”
“Oh…I see.”
“In the oven.”
“Yes. I can see that.”
His wife bit her lip in amusement, holding back a laugh. “And…what do you think it means?”
Edward looked between Stacy, and the baked good sitting inside the oven. He tilted his head, trying to puzzle together an answer. Between his wife’s expression and the bun, he honestly had no idea.
“Is the bun…specially made?”
She shook her head. “No.”
“Is it an old family recipe.”
“Nope.”
“Don’t tell me it’s actually fake.” His eyes widened. I was genuinely looking forward to eating that!”
Stacy placed a hand over her mouth, trying to keep it together. She honestly felt bad he wasn’t getting it, but the adorably confused expression on his face made it all worth it.
At this point, Frank De Luca managed to pass by, witnessing the scene before him. He tilted his head curiously at the two royals. Before he could ask anything, Stacy silently placed a finger over her mouth, still smiling, indicating between herself and the bun.
Frank’s eyes widened, immediately getting the message and staying silent, though his smile seemed to pass his ears as Edward then noticed the butler.
“Is there something you two are keeping from me?” Edward asked, worry seeping into his tone, he gaze switching between the two.
Frank tried to assist. “I believe, her highness is trying to tell you something.” He supplied helpfully.
Edward felt confused. “I’m still not understanding what’s going on here.”
Stacy shook her head and walked over towards him, placing her hands in his. “Edward…do you know what it means…when people say: “there’s a bun in the oven”?”
Edward studied Stacy’s face for a moment, taking in her expression. Her eyes twinkled beneath the kitchen lights, given them a glossy look. Her smile was large, larger than he ever seen it before. At some point, Stacy let go of his hands, placing it on her belly, her fingers tracing small circles around it. After looking her over a few times, the gears in his head started to click, and his face took on a bewildered expression.
“No…” He breathed, heart pounding. “You’re not…are you…are you saying you’re…” Stacy gripped his hands tighter, nodding her head so quickly, Edward worried it would pop off.
“Yes…” Stacy was on the verge of tears. “…I’m pregnant.”
In an instant, Edward’s world shook beneath him. It fekt as if time stopped completely, and it was only them in the void. Tears formed in his eyes, cascading down his cheek in an instant as a wide smile graced his features. Stacy was the same, her own tears falling simultaneously with his, almost as if they were in sync. In that moment, Edward did not want to let Stacy go. He hugged her tightly, tighter than he ever thought possible.
“I can’t believe it…” His voice was barely a whisper. “…I’m going to be a father?”
Stacy nodded against his shoulder, sniffling. “Yeah.”
“And you’re going to be a mother…” He breathed. “…I can’t believe this is happening.”
His wife instantly pulled away from him, practically bouncing with excitement. “Neither can I!” She exclaimed. “I wasn’t totally sure, but I took a test this morning, and…it said I’m pregnant!”
Edward cupped her face tenderly, pulling her in for a deep kiss. The two embraced passionately, letting the joy of the moment seep between them. They eventually pulled apart, their foreheads still touching.
“We’re going to be a family…” Edward breathed. “…just the three of us.”
Stacy smoothed her thumb against his cheek, tears still flowing down her face. A clearing of a throat caused the two to separate, looking beside them was Frank holding out a box of tissues, his own face wet with a few tears, all the while grinning.
“Thank you, Frank.” Edward laughed taking a few tissues for them. “I assume this conversation will stay between us, correct?”
Frank nodded obediently. “You have my word, sir.” He bowed. “I shall let you two be in charge of spreading the news. Whenever you’re ready.”
Stacy reached a hand out. “Thank you.” She replied to him, the butler returning the gesture kindly. “I’m…actually glad you’re here for this. You’re like our family too.”
Frank felt his face light up with joy, clearly touched. “Really?”
“As real as Donatelli is to Margaret. You’re a part of this team, too. Don’t forget that.” Edward added, giving his own bright smile.
Frank tried to hold his composure as best as he could, standing tall. “I-I’m glad to be of service.” His voice quivered just a bit. “You two truly deserve this.”
“This, however, does brings up another concern.” Edward looked back over towards Stacy. “How, exactly, are we going to explain this to my parents?”
Stacy smiled contently. “We’ll tell them eventually. Right now, let’s just enjoy this moment. Just between us.”
Her husband wrapped his arms around her. I like that sound of that.” His eyes then catches the small bun still sitting in the oven, waiting to be called into action. “Can we…still eat the bun?” He asked.
Stacy laughed, leaning her head into his chest. “Well can eat as many buns as you like. I’m probably gonna be craving them for a while, so don’t get too excited.” She smirked playfully. “Something tells me you’ll get sick of them by the time my first trimester is over.”
Edward raised a challenged eyebrow. “We’ll see about that.”
And in that very moment, everything was perfect.
#This is basically my idea on how Stacy told Edward the news she was pregnant! 😁#I know we have the deleted scene from Romancing The Star but I wanted to do my own take on it. XD#Plus this idea was TOO GOOD to pass up and definitely something Stacy would do. XD#I mean come on. She is a baker after all. 😉#this is canon in my head#stacy de novo#prince edward of belgravia#frank de luca#the princess switch

A little something for my previous post, “I Almost Do”
This one is for you, @kittylover776 😁
(Some background info: Set 7 years after the first switch. Belgravia is holding an international event in The States and they hire Stacy for desserts, of course :) This scene below is Stacy and Queen Caroline interacting for “the first time” 😉)
The ballroom is empty, it is wide, it is silent, much like Stacy’s thoughts. She felt hollow within, like there was nothing left within her, void of all the joys that she thought she had.
She made herself believe that it was this agreement, this business deal she had gone through with the Belgravian Royal Family that had probably sucked them out of her.
There were only two days left until the party, or how Edward called it, an affair of state. Two days were a reach, but for Stacy, it felt like those two days were thousands of miles away from her. She isn’t sure if it is the fatigue creeping up her or just the sheer annoyance of recalling the fact that she still needed to face Edward for two more days.
She hated the fact that it seemed so easy for him to face her like he hadn’t abandoned her fifteen years ago. She hated how it seemed so easy for him to shrug off the fact that it was him who tore them apart, and how she couldn’t even see a tinge of remorse coming from him.
But today, today she could handle. She was not going to be seeing him and his bi-hourly inspections of the venue for the past days like there would be such a big difference. Instead, They were informed the prince had gone down with a slight fever so his mother had flown in earlier than schedule to check up on preparations for the event.
Stacy found it funny that she was barely nervous to meet his mother, who also happened to be the Queen of Belgravia.
Maybe it was because she could finally behave professionally and not have to shoo someone away like they were a little pigeon hopping around the ballroom, or maybe because she could finally face someone who barely knew her, someone who hadn’t seen her worse than how she looked right now in a barely ironed shirt, denim pants, and frizzy, messy hair.
No, she was not the type to be rushing out of her house at 8 in the morning, looking barely presentable, but when you get a message from your employee that the queen is already on her way and you’ve barely woken up, nothing matters aside from getting yourself together and arriving before your guest does.
But she makes it just in time. Just in time to help her employees set everything up and stick with the plan given by the coordinator.
Now with the ruckus of rushing to arrive and prepare things finally over, Stacy hears the wide, heavy wood doors of the ballroom peel open and make way for the queen to enter.
Her eyes are fixated on the older lady and she doesn’t miss to notice the growing smile on the queen’s face as their eyes interlocked.
She could see how the queen was making a beeline towards her, and when the older lady gets close enough, she opens her arms wide and wraps her arms around the Stacy.
Her mind could barely process the presence of an absolute reigning monarch in front of her, and she does nothing but freeze while the queen continued to pull her into her embrace.
“Stacy, dear, how have you been?” She hears the queen say moments after when she finally lets go and frees Stacy from her hands.
Stacy does nothing respond, her eyes blinking away as her eyebrows slowly start to meet.
“Dear, are you alright?” Caroline repeats, placing her hand on Stacy’s shoulder.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” The younger lady shakes her head slowly as her legs try but ultimately give a butchered curtsy that makes the queen laugh. “I’m absolutely alright, Your Majesty. Thank you for asking. I’m Stacy De Novo, owner of Stacy’s Sweets and Treats.”
There is a smile on Stacy’s face, her torso standing as straight as a ruler, trying her best to act as formal as she could. She wasn’t the best at it, but somehow — she does not know why — her body was portraying it better than she thought.
In the next second, she hears the queen laugh and her prim and proper stature immediately crumbles down as she takes a step back.
“Has your husband done something to get on your nerves?” Caroline asks, a smile tugging at her lips as her eyes sparkle with amusement.
“Excuse me, Your Majesty?”
“Well, you’ve dropped the surname, so I’m guessing Edward’s done something to wind you up. Don’t worry, I do the same with George sometimes.”
Stacy’s eyes widen, her feet unconsciously taking multiple steps back as if it were a defense mechanism to fight against something, but in this case she was only facing the Queen of Belgravia.
Caroline’s words echo in her mind, into her conscience. What in the world does she even mean by husband?
She had brushed off the queen coming straight at her and knowing her name without a formal introduction, but the queen, of all people, telling her Edward was her husband?
That was nowhere near a coincidence.
But then again, it was impossible. They had separated a decade and a half ago, they never met in between those years, and she still very much loathed him.
Stacy repeats her words, her eyebrows slowly knitting together as she tries to process whatever the older woman had just said.
“Oh, what has Edward done this time around? You seem quite mad at him.” Caroline laughs — awkwardly. “Did be forget to settle Edeline for her nap? That must be it, no?”
“I’m sorry, Your Majesty, but I don’t know who you’re talking about. I don’t have a child and am I definitely not, in any way, associated with your son.”
Caroline’s eyes narrow down as she moves closer towards Stacy. She places her hand on the younger lady’s shoulder and there is something about her touch that leaves Stacy frozen in place instead of dodging them away.
“Stacy dear, are you sure you are alright?”
“Oh, I sure am, Your Majesty. Perfectly fine. Absolutely.”
”Well, I don’t think you are.” Her grip on Stacy’s shoulders tightened as she pulled her closer. “I don’t know what’s happened to you since you left Belgravia three months ago—Edward won’t say a word about it—but don’t you think this is all a bit much? You’ve dropped your husband’s surname, you act as if you don’t know him, as if you don’t know me, as if you don’t even know your own child…”
It takes a moment for Stacy to register what had just happened, and when it does, she feels as if the words are spinning before her, spiraling around and getting closer by the minute. It grows on her until her head starts feeling light and she can barely see — her thoughts reeling through the queen’s allegations.
She feels as if there are waves beneath her, ready to swallow her and drag her through the current again, and again, and again.
Until she cannot handle it.
Until there is a surge of tears that are suddenly pricking her eyelids — a wave of uncertainty hitting her harder than she would expect.
Until her legs give out, ultimately giving in to the unending, uncontrollable force of the waves beneath her.
#this is a random one#not sure if i’ll keep this when i do write a proper continuation for it#but this one was a prompt i really wanted to write so...😁#the princess switch

My Own Timeline of How I Watch Christmas Movies
Short disclaimer before we begin: I meant to post this before Christmas, but I am a busy elf so here we are.
Every time the holiday season starts creeping in, people tend to be more busy and barely in one place. There's always so much stuff to finish, so many things to buy; your to-do and gift lists are endless. (Personally, on most days during the holidays I feel like Joe Pesci in the gif below.) I mean, there's barely time to watch movies in between all of that chaos, right? Wait lol did I just describe my usual holiday scenario? Aha, but that's just the irony - me, have no time for movies? I don't think so!
So because I am a nerd, I'd like to share with you the holiday movies I either A) must watch during the holidays, B) would recommend watching during the holidays or C) both. But here's the catch (& here's how I'm a nerd too) - there's a specific point during the season when it's the perfect time to watch said movie. You'll see what I mean.
Again, we've established that Christmas is one of, if not the busiest time of the year. Ain't nobody got time to watch a list of holiday movies, let alone in a chronological manner! But in case you do, here’s how I’d likely watch them:
First to second week of December:
You’ve Got Mail (1998)
Actually, I normally rewatch this towards the end of November because it still has more of a fall vibe (and that’s what it’s more known for). But since it actually goes through the seasons as Kathleen and Joe’s relationship progresses from haters to lovers, we can consider watching it during the early days of December too. One of the most crucial scenes also happens during the winter anyway!
The Holdovers (2023)
I’ve grown to love this film so much because of the warm fuzzy feeling despite the entire story taking place during the winter. Even if the most important scenes take place at exactly Christmas Day, the film starts as the students are about to take their holiday break. That’s why it feels wrong to watch this before December 1st, but also feels wrong to not watch it on December 1st, does that make sense?! LOL
Anastasia (1997)
This one’s a no-brainer. It’s technically not even a Christmas movie, the first half just takes place in a magical winter wonderland Russia. But I mean, “Once Upon A December” - need I say more? That song, though haunting, along with the beautiful animation just screams pure magic. To this day I can never accept that this does not have an Oscar in animation.
Bonus: any of Netflix or Hallmark’s [trashy] Christmas romcoms
In recent years, I’m trying to understand why Netflix keeps releasing Christmas romcoms with plots that make you go ✨what the hell sure ✨🚬 but here we are! LOL that said, this is a good time to watch those - the most notable ones are The Princess Switch & A Christmas Prince trilogies, both of which for some reason are part of the same universe. I don’t understand it, but again, here we are! There’s a lot more in Netflix’s catalogue; don’t even get me started with Hallmark (and its posters!)
Week before Christmas:
The Holiday (2006)
Also known as Jude Law Flirtation Season, this Christmas classic is rewatchable over and over again because of its charm. We all wanted to be Cameron Diaz at one point, be for real. And since her character and Kate Winslet’s goes on their holiday switch literally the week before Christmas, isn’t it just fitting to watch it around that time too? It’s the closest we have to flirting with Jude Law!
Last Christmas (2019)
I remember watching this in cinemas when it came out, and we all thought it was going to be another fun Christmas romcom. Boy was I wrong. The lady beside me in the theater shared the same sentiments it was so funny lol. But most of the film takes place on the days leading up to Christmas Eve, where the most important scene happens. And let me tell you, not a dry eye in that theater. Not a dry eye.
Happiest Season (2020)
I love this underrated romcom. I honestly think more people should watch it because it’s so wholesome and heart-tugging. Though to be honest, I’m with the majority on saying that Kristen Stewart’s character should have ended up with Aubrey Plaza’s characters. Nevertheless, since the plot takes place on the days leading up to Christmas when Mackenzie Davis brings home Kristen Stewart for Christmas Eve, it’s only fitting to rewatch it on the same time!
Christmas Eve:
Home Alone (1990)
This is not only a Christmas classic for everyone but it’s an automatic rewatch at my house during Christmas Eve. I can’t not go through the 24th without putting this on, even if it’s just in the background while I wrap my gifts! I may be playing it in the background but it doesn’t mean I’m not paying attention though - especially when the Christmas soundtrack comes on? Absolute banger.
Home Alone 2: Lost In New York (1992)
Obviously, if you’ve started with the first one, then continue with the second one! In my opinion, Home Alone is one of the rare film-duo that are both hits and neither are misses. Though some believe the sequel is funnier, I think both are equally hilarious and heartwarming. Christmas Eve is not complete for me without marathoning Home Alone 1 & 2 for sure; that’s a package deal in this household!
Love Actually (2003)
Another absolute must on Christmas Eve for me is this classic (and now somehow criticized) romcom. I realize now that yes there are many problematic parts of it, but the whole Christmas vibe is undefeated. I would watch this on either the days leading up to the 24th or on the day itself - while, again, wrapping presents. No matter what people think of it now, I’m still gonna rewatch this every year.
Christmas Day:
Little Women (2019)
Usually for most families, Christmas Day is full of reunions and get-togethers. For me however, we don’t really do that stuff a lot, so I spend the day mostly watching, guess what, more Christmas films! And on the morning of Christmas Day, I first put on Greta Gerwig’s version of the March sisters’ story - mainly because of Jo saying “Merry Christmas, world” when she wakes up in the morning. I just adore this film so much, I could write more about it but probably another time!
Little Women (1994)
My second favorite adaption is the 1994 Winona Ryder classic, primarily because the Christmas theme is just all over the film. Like the 2019 version, it’s such a warm hug, but with a more classic vibe since it was released in the 90s. I actually love how this was released on my birth year!
It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)
I recently just watched this for the first time, and wow it’s incredibly moving. To say that it truly is a masterpiece is an understatement; I think it’s one of the most beautiful films ever. Though the climax of the film happens on Christmas Eve, the spirit of giving and community in the ending scene is just so heartwarming that you forget it’s only the eve of Christmas. But contrary to the films I watch on the 24th when I’m mostly busy with presents & cooking, this is one of those films that can’t be in the background.
In between Christmas and New Year:
When Harry Met Sally (1989)
To many people, including myself, this is a fall movie. And I agree. But, alongside You’ve Got Mail (1998), it’s part of the “Meg Ryan spends the holidays in New York” cinematic universe, aka gotta be one of my favorite genders! LOL but the reason why this is best watched after Christmas and before New Year is because the height of the film begins around that time, all leading up to the beautiful ending of Harry and Sally getting together on New Year’s Eve.
While You Were Sleeping (1995)
I also just recently watched this and it can technically be a Christmas Eve movie because they actually show the family celebrating (and it's when Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman first meet!), but the rest of the hilarious events take place after. This is going to be a regular holiday classic for me as well moving forward because of its simple charm, the beauty of Chicago during the holidays, and Sandra Bullock's gorgeous face card.
Serendipity (2001)
This is one of the more underrated ones in my opinion. I absolutely adore Kate Beckinsale in this one - how on earth can someone be that beautiful?! I understand John Cusack lol. But like the previous romcoms above, we briefly go through Christmas but everything happens after, however still during winter. Every time I rewatch this I just want to teleport to New York during the period between Christmas and New Year and just ice skate in Central Park.
New Year’s Eve:
Silver Skates (2020)
I cannot stress this enough: I love this film! An original all-Russian production, it was one of the hidden gems I discovered on Netflix the holiday season following the pandemic. It's absolutely beautiful! It's your typical poor-guy-falls-for-rich-girl plot, but set against the snowy & magical backdrop of Russia at the turn of the 20th century. I always recommend this to people when they are looking for holiday films or period films; this is a bonus because it's both! (Not to mention the main cast is absolutely good-looking)
New Year’s Eve (2011)
Also known as the New Year's version of Love Actually's Christmas, this is another no-brainer. Who doesn't love a good romcom with a stacked cast with characters' stories who intertwine on a holiday? And personally - don't judge me for this if you're American & reading this - I would also like to experience the ball drop on December 31st. There's just something special about being a part of a public crowd on New Year's Eve versus just staying at home with just family. Maybe it depends on each one's traditions but all the same, 12 midnight is what we are all waiting for!
This is obviously a personal and subjective list; there are still loads of Christmas films & classics that are not on it. But make do what you will with this one! This is a free world where we can enjoy these movies whenever we want and at our own pace :)

I’ve observed today (in my annual rewatch of the princess switch saga) that the flag of Montenaro is a Nordic cross
Which is odd, because I always pictured Montenaro somewhere like… near Luxenborg?
Also, I dearly love the harried priest in the end of the second movie. Poor guy just wants to make his flight and then all of a sudden he’s officiating a royal wedding

A Chance Encounter: A Princess Switch AU
I’m having way too much fun with this so @kittylover776v here’s part 3
Later that morning, the calm of the royal estate was shattered when news of Edward’s late-night escapade—complete with a drunken stranger in tow—filtered through the palace grapevine. Gossip was an inevitable sport among the staff, and despite Edward’s best attempts to keep the incident discreet, it wasn’t long before the king and queen themselves caught wind of the story.
In the royal drawing room, Queen Caroline paced, her brows knitted in concern. “A young woman? From the streets? Brought into the estate?” she said, her voice rising with every word. “What was he thinking?”
King George, sitting in an armchair with a cup of tea, sighed heavily and pinched the bridge of his nose. “What he was thinking, my dear, is probably not much at all.” He looked over at the butler standing in the corner. “Frank, you were there. How bad is it?”
Frank, ever the picture of composure, adjusted his gloves. “Your Majesty, if I may say so, it’s… not as dramatic as the staff may have made it sound.”
The queen stopped pacing and gave him a sharp look. “Frank, I’ve heard that Edward snuck out again, brought home a drunken woman, and then had her escorted into the palace without notifying anyone. How is that not dramatic?”
Frank tilted his head thoughtfully. “Well, when you put it like that…”
The king groaned and sank further into his chair, muttering, “I told you this boy was trouble the moment he learned to climb out of his nursery window.”
The queen shot him a glare. “George, this isn’t the time.”
“Isn’t it?” the king replied, exasperated. “He’s a grown man now, Caroline. A grown man who sneaks out of the palace at night, picks up strangers, and brings them here. This isn’t a mischievous prince moment—this is a full royal scandal waiting to happen!”
“It’s not a scandal yet,” Frank interjected helpfully, though with a barely-hidden smirk. “As far as I know, the young lady has no memory of how she got here or who His Highness really is. So unless someone decides to leak the story to the press…” He trailed off meaningfully.
The queen put a hand to her chest, looking distressed. “Leak it to the press? That would be disastrous! We’re only weeks away from Edward’s engagement announcement!”
“Ah yes, the engagement he’s thrilled about,” Frank said dryly.
The king turned a sharp eye to him. “Frank, your sarcasm isn’t helping.”
“I’m just saying,” Frank said, feigning innocence. “Perhaps His Highness wouldn’t sneak out and bring home random women if he felt a bit more… liberated in his choices.”
“Frank,” the queen warned, her tone icy.
At that moment, the door creaked open, and Edward stepped in, looking far too casual for someone about to face the wrath of his parents. He had traded his usual regal attire for something simpler, though his posture was as princely as ever.
“You wanted to see me?” he asked, though the way his lips quirked upward suggested he already knew what this was about.
Queen Caroline turned on him, her voice a mixture of concern and scolding. “Edward! What on earth were you thinking, sneaking out without a chaperone? And bringing… bringing her here? Do you realize how dangerous that was? For her and for you?”
Edward held up his hands in mock surrender. “Alright, before we all start panicking, can I just say I had good intentions?”
“Good intentions?” King George repeated, raising an eyebrow. “This should be rich.”
“She was lost, and clearly not in any condition to find her way back to her cabin,” Edward explained. “I couldn’t just leave her wandering the streets. What kind of future king would I be if I ignored someone in need?”
The queen softened slightly but still frowned. “Edward, while I admire your compassion, there are protocols for these kinds of things. You should have alerted the palace guards or brought her to a local inn.”
Edward rubbed the back of his neck, looking sheepish. “To be honest, she was so out of it I wasn’t sure she’d even make it through the door of an inn. And…” He glanced sideways at Frank, who was watching the exchange like it was a riveting play. “Frank didn’t exactly suggest any alternatives.”
Frank raised a brow. “Oh no, don’t you drag me into this. I only helped sneak her in because you insisted it was the right thing to do. I was merely following orders.”
The king groaned again, setting his tea aside. “Edward, for the love of Belgravia, do you ever think things through?”
“Sometimes,” Edward said with a small shrug.
“That is not the answer we were looking for,” the queen said, clearly exasperated.
There was a long pause before Edward, realizing the gravity of the situation, finally straightened. “Alright. I admit it wasn’t the most… conventional decision. But she’s fine. She’ll leave as soon as she’s feeling better, and no one will even know she was here.”
The queen sighed, shaking her head. “Edward, you’ve put us all in a very precarious position. I don’t even want to think about what would happen if someone found out about this.”
King George, still pinching the bridge of his nose, muttered, “Well, if nothing else, it’ll make for an entertaining chapter in the family memoirs.”
Frank leaned in slightly. “I can already see the headline: ‘Mischievous Prince Sneaks Drunken Woman into Royal Estate.’”
The queen shot him a sharp glare. “Frank.”
“I’m just preparing for the inevitable,” Frank said with a shrug.
Edward, however, was unfazed. “Look, I’ll take responsibility for everything. Just… trust me when I say this isn’t going to turn into some grand disaster.”
The queen sighed again but nodded reluctantly. “Very well. But if even a whisper of this incident gets out, Edward, it will be your neck on the line.”
“Understood,” Edward said, though there was a flicker of mischief in his eyes that made it clear he wasn’t entirely regretful.
As the prince turned to leave, Frank leaned toward King George and whispered loud enough for everyone to hear, “You know, for a future king, he’s remarkably good at making headlines.”
The king groaned. “Don’t remind me.”
And with that, the incident was, for now, swept under the royal rug—though the palace staff, particularly Frank, would certainly not let Edward forget it anytime soon.

Frank: Have you ever had a boyfriend?
Donatelli: No.
Frank: *generally surprised* HOW?!
Donatelli: *shrugs* Never asked, never been asked.
Frank: *under his breath* But you’re so beautiful.
Donatelli: What?
Frank: *blushes* What?!

Kevin: Tell me, why do you think you’re pregnant?
Margaret: I do not know why, and I am not sure if these are the side-effects of fatigue, but I have been giving almost everyone, and I mean everyone, an attitude!
Kevin: Even Mrs. Donatelli?
Margaret: Even Mrs. Donatelli!
#poor mrs. donatelli :(#mags is a kind lady so her giving off an attitude is a huge sign something is up#and in this case it is because of raging hormones 😆#this was funnier in my head#and maybe with more narration#the princess switch
