I watched The Pope's Exorcist last night (fairly good, I want the books he wrote so badly) - can someone explain to me why, despite being atheist, I am thoroughly interested in religion and the history of religions? Like Judaism and Catholicism interests me massively. I can understand the Catholicism side because I was raised with half my family being Catholic, but I don't know why Judaism interests me so much. Perhaps it's just being a bit of a history buff? But even in my deep belief that there is no spiritual being above us, and we're all just fucking stardust, I am still fascinated by the lores and rules and practices of religions.

Just watched The Pope's Exorcist and as someone who thoroughly enjoys FAITH (and religious horror) I happily noticed the parallel of:

Inexperienced (in exorcism) younger priest who questions his faith named John Thomas(Tomas), and an older priest named Gabriel(Gabriele) who go through an extremely traumatic exorcism together and are now ganging up to dispel the UNSPEAKABLE (the 199 places of evil).

The Pope's Exorcist is more proof that horror is a dish best served with a side of humour. Nothing releases tension like a well-earned laugh. Nothing lowers your defenses for the upcoming shit storm like it, either.

Good lore, too. Pity about the Italian though... I wish they would get Italian actors for Italian movies. Tired of seeing non-Italians butcher the accent.

One of (if not the) best exorcism-type horror films.

Watching exorcist movies with me must be annoying because I WILL yell about the fact that upside down crosses being satanic is entirely a fiction perpetuated by Hollywood and that one of the apostles chose to be crucified that way because he decided he was unworthy of being crucified the same way as Christ. I don't know why it's such a pet peeve lol, I shrug off most things, but tHAT ONE BOTHERS ME. XDDD
