I have been sitting on this for several days! Because I had to think of how to describe the absolute Tomfoolery that is combining one sad bug game with the sad slug game to make the ultimate sad game.

The pale king as an iterator just makes so much fucking sense; like turn the small Bugman into a small, but somehow also huge robot god! With his best friend/work wife the pale lady.

Visions of twisting worms is trying a new approach to finding out how to solve the great problem… instead of trying to find a whole new solution, why not try to make the current solution more viable and safe? Therefore, in order to figure out exactly what is making the echoes, he needs to make biological, or semi biological, intelligent, sentient beings to throw down into the void to see who becomes a sad little ghost, and who doesn’t.

Knowing and controlling every single aspect of their lives to eventually narrow down why the echoes were made, 100% scientifically. Who said the reason why you became an echo was because of a spiritual or mental issue. What if it’s a biological one? Because you never know; maybe it’s because they have an opposable left toe??? Or because they’re allergic to almonds?????????????? These questions must be answered for a solution to be found.

Of course, there are consequences to creating a whole sentient race whose sole reason for existing is to be scientifically murdered, just to try and find an answer to a question for your dead creators, and it weighs heavily on VOTW mind. So his work wife/counterpart, Infinite Pale Trees, insisted on creating guardians to be company for her friend; these guardians are Hollow, knight and hornet. On the scale of power there on par with a red lizard on crack, they are chimeras of flesh and technology that roam between visiting their mother and father. They are capable of tool use, highly intelligent, and definitely weird.
