Josh Must Win
To the competitors, a contest of who your favourite is amongst the other contestants.
To the celebrities manipulating events, a challenge of psychology and intuition.
To the astute viewer, a lesson in some of the techniques producers use to manipulate reality telly.
How real is reality television? When you see something, how has it been manipulated? Grimmy and his gang did it in a light-hearted way; do other shows have their own agenda?
Plus, a look at the claim that The 1% Club is television's biggest game show (it's not, unless you're using a particularly arbitrary definition of "game show". But The 1% Club is very good telly - and sometimes proper drama.)

PLEASE keep your zoophagous familiars indoors or preferably, locked up in a sanitarium (it’s where they thrive, but if u can’t afford a sanitarium, a dank dungeon in your castle will work) but for the love of the devil your zoophagous familiar is not an outdoor familiar. no exceptions
🦇 the-birds-and-the-bats Follow
i am so tired of trying to explain to familiar owners in the notes that zoophagous familiars are not meant to roam free out of doors. they are a danger to themselves and their environment.
here is a link to a study done on the relationship between the rise of outdoor familiars in Essex and the decline of the sparrow population.
and no, your familiar is not the exception.

Lol OK op, anyway…
My zoophagous maniac only eats insects. She is doing absolutely no harm to the environment. Plus, she hates being cooped up in a cell, she always breaks out. She was meant to be outdoors, and she’s not a danger to birds! She’s a sweetheart! She would only hurt a fly. And the occasional spider haha
🦇 the-birds-and-the-bats Follow
where do i even start with this. first of all, i don’t know how to explain to you that insects are a part of the environment…
secondly, the nature of zoophagous familiars is that they will work their way up the food chain. you may only see her eating flies and spiders, but unchecked their eating habits go to birds and cats and sometimes even humans. if she is free roaming as you claim, she’s probably already consumed countless sparrows. KEEP HER INSIDE.
and finally, you mentioned she keeps breaking out of her cell. there could be a few reasons for this. either she’s not getting enough enrichment, or she’s being enthralled and called to her master. if it’s the latter, don’t worry about it <3 but if she keeps breaking out you need to make sure she’s getting the enrichment she needs. are you giving her sugar to lure her flies? a notebook to count the lives she’s consumed? space to ramble about her theories on blood being life?
keep her indoors. if she breaks out to monologue about rats she needs your attention. entertain her. but keep your zoophagous familiars indoors.

of course it’s a mad scientist bitching about this post. mad scientists need to learn to keep their gloved hands out of the monster community

hi op here, please don’t go leaving exclusionist comments on my post. mad scientists are known to toe the lines of monstrosity, often times themselves becoming monsters whether literally or socially, and very frequently are in contact with or creating monsters. this is a post about zoophagous familiars, which are notoriously looked after by some form of mad scientist/doctor. like it or not, there will always be mad scientists and doctors in the monster community.

Best Friends?
Description: Leighton and Reader have been best friends since forever and both fall in love with each other. Tension rises when Leighton gets back with Alicia and Reader finally reaches the breaking point.
WARNINGS: ANGST like a mf.
leighton didn't know what to do.
her best friend was ignoring her. y/n hadn't talked to her in three days. and leighton was absolutely clueless.
she had tried to reach out to y/n's roommates to figure out why she wasn't talking to her but none of them could tell her either. the blonde was picking her brain for everything she might have forgotten.
birthday? nope.
friendiversary? nope.
she couldn't think of anything. she had even talked to alicia about it and her girlfriend just shook it off to y/n going through something. alicia reassured her that she would be fine and offered to take her girlfriend out for the weekend to cheer her up. as much as leighton didn't wanna leave, maybe this is what she needed. so, her and alicia packed a couple of bags and drove to new york for the weekend.
back at essex, y/n was in the weight room. it was well past midnight but y/n's thoughts were racing. she kept curling the barbell in her hand.
all she could think about was leighton.
how she smiled when y/n made a bad joke.
how she cuddled up to y/n when it was their weekly movie night.
how she always gave y/n the first cookies when they baked together.
y/n usually wouldn't be thinking this hard about the blonde but something made her feelings go all over the place.
or, more like someone.
alicia.
it wasn't that y/n didn't like alicia. it's more like alicia didn't like y/n. the girl didn't like y/n the first time her and leighton dated and she doesn't like her even more now that they are out. she never shows her disdain for y/n around leighton though. she doesn't want the blonde to know.
y/n began to run on the treadmill when a text came through on her airpods.
from bestest friend in the whole world: hey, we haven't talked in a minute. i just wanna check in on you. you're worrying me. alicia took me to new york so if i don't hear from you by the time i come back, i'm hunting you down.
from bestest friend in the whole world: i just saw your location...why are you at the gym this late? you only do this when you're really going through something.
from bestest friend in the whole world: do you wanna facetime and talk? alicia is asleep but we can stay quiet.
y/n got tired of the messages and turned her phone off.
so much for a peaceful workout.
that became y/n's routine for the weekend. sleep most of the day, workout most of the night.
she received multiple texts and calls from leighton but they all went ignored. luckily for y/n, when monday came around, leighton couldn't come kill her due to her being busy. she managed to hold out until thursday, a whole week since she had talked to the blonde last.
leighton was a storm that was just waiting to unleash her power. y/n still hadn't talked to her and of it wasn't for alicia taking her on a date every night this week, y/n would've already faced the wrath.
y/n was in her dorm watching youtube, doing her homework when there was a loud knock on the door. groaning, she got up and out of her room, fully expecting one of her roommates to be on the other side.
boy, was she wrong.
leighton stood on the other side, angrier than y/n had ever seen her. the girl gulped audibly as the blonde pushed her way into the room. "oh, sure, invite yourself in why don't you?" the blonde turned her death glare back to y/n. "yeah, it's the least i can do after my best friend practically ghosted me for no reason for a week!"
y/n rolled her eyes and went to go back to her room when leighton stopped her. "what is wrong with you this week? you haven't talked to me, you've actively avoided me, and whitney told me that you seemed tired in practice all week. care to explain yourself?" y/n sighed. "no, i don't care to explain myself leighton. wasn't aware you had gone low enough to get your roommate to spy on me."
leighton scoffed. "can you blame me? now, i'm calling for a mandatory sleepover so i can pick that brain of yours and figure out what's going on." y/n shook her head. "don't you have a girlfriend to attend to?" leighton looked at y/n confused. "no, she's at the center tonight doing slam poetry. why would i have to attend to her?"
y/n shrugged. "i don't know, just seems like you guys are attached to the hip and she refuses to let you do anything on your own." leighton's jaw dropped at y/n's words. did y/n always feel this way? had leighton been a bad friend?
"what do you mean? are you jealous of our relationship? i told you i could hook you up with someone, y/n. why didn't you tell me?" y/n avoided the question. "leighton, i have a ton of homework to do. go back to your dorm." leighton shook her head. "no, we need to talk this out. are you jealous of me and alicia?" after a few minutes of back and forth, y/n finally snapped.
"you know what leighton? yeah, i am jealous. i'm jealous that alicia is the one who gets to hold your hand in public. i'm jealous that alicia gets to take you on dates. i'm jealous that she gets that smile of yours that you used to only reserve for me." leighton stood shocked but y/n kept going.
"i'm jealous she gets to kiss you and sweep you off your feet and treat you like the princess you are. but most of all, i'm jealous that she had the courage to ask you out before i did." y/n had tears streaming down her face, as did leighton. the blonde's voice cracked as she tried to walk towards y/n. "y/n..i-i had no idea. i-"
y/n held her hand up. "just go leighton. i can't do this right now." and with that, she turned, walking into her bedroom, shutting the door behind her, leaving a crying leighton in the common room.
the blonde grabbed her purse and went back to her dorm.
both girls cried themselves to sleep that night. y/n because she thought she ruined her friendship with leighton.
leighton because she finally realized she was in love with y/n.

Could you please write Leighton giving r some lessons in math cause r is terrible but needs to pass the course
R going with leighton to shop different things
Progressing to a relationship
You can do whatever you desire with this 😅
Tutors to lovers
Every day, your parents showed that they knew nothing about you. You didn't wanna go to Essex, and you definitely didn't wanna take advanced math, but they made sure that it was impossible for you to get out of it. Their demands on you were crazy; a 3.7 GPA was what they called terrible. And with your current understanding of advanced math? You were so fucked, and the person sitting next to you thought the same thing.
“Psst, look. You gotta divide this by 4, and then you have to calculate its root. Then you have 6 as the value of on x.” Leighton whispered to you, hoping to help you understand what the teacher was doing at the front. But the way you looked at her so helplessly and confused made her laugh louder than she intended to.
After class, you quickly stopped the blonde before she could walk out. “Leighton, hey. Thank you for trying to help me. Can I buy you a coffee as a thanks?” you asked with a small smile. She looked at you for a second before nodding. “Alright, then follow me” you walked out and towards sips, making small talk on the way there.
“After you,” you mumbled as you opened the door to the coffee shop for her. She thanked you and walked in, looking around the place. “What? Have you never been here before?” you asked with a small laugh, signaling that you were joking.
She looked at you for a moment before scrunching up her nose a bit and shaking her head. “No, never been. Not the biggest fan of cheap coffee and of whatever it smells like in here.” You grinned slightly as you walked toward the counter, your wallet already in hand.
“Yeah, well, I would have taken you to a more fancy place, but we both have another class in 20 minutes, and a good coffee is like 15 minutes away.” Leighton nodded, an understanding look on her face as you stepped up to the counter. After she told you what she wants to drink, you turn towards the counter again. “Oh, hey, Kimberly. How are you? Can I get two iced lattes and two blueberry muffins?”
“Y/n, it's so great to see you. I'm fine, thank you. How are you?” you talked for a bit while you paid, and she made your coffee, the blonde only standing behind you. “Alright, here you are. Have a great day, see you later Leighton” Both of you said goodbye before sitting on a park bank outside.
“So, can I ask you something?” Leighton asked as you played with her straw. You nodded, waiting for her to ask as you watched people walk by. “Why are you taking advanced math? Not to be rude, but you suck at it”
You laughed slightly before taking a deep breath. “Well, my father took it, my mother took it and my sister at Harvard is taking it. So, even if I suck at it and hate it, I have to take it too. But it seems like I’m failing it” you explained, looking at her for a second before continuing, “unlessssss someone would be willing to tutor me.” The grin you sent her made her smile while looking down at the bench to hide her slight blush.
“You know what, fine. Why not. Come by my dorm tomorrow at 5 ok?” The blonde didn’t even wait for an answer before she walked off, joining Bella on her way to the next class.
The next day you arrived at her dorm at 5 pm sharp, being greeted by Kimberly and Whitney who sat in their common room. “Hey y/n, Leighton is still in her room” Kimberly started but was quickly interrupted.
“Oh my god Bella” leighton screamed from inside their room, “can’t you just fuck him anywhere else? Jeez, i have a tutoring lesson in here”
“This isn’t just your room Leighton. This is our room and it’s made for sleeping” Bella argued back making you girls in the living room giggle.
“Dude, that’s so fucked from you. Keep away from my bed! If one thing is out of place later you’re in trouble!” The three of you stopped giggling as Leighton stormed out of the door, nearly running into you. “Y/n, let’s go. We gonna go to the library or some shit because somebody is being intolerable” she screamed the last part making you laugh.
“Alright, come on. You gotta calm down” you pulled Leighton out of the room, saying goodbye to the rest of her dorm mates. You went into the library where you sat down, and minutes later you were desperate for it to stop.
“Y/n, cmon. You gotta concentrate dude, it’s not that hard” the blonde complained as she went over the same exercise again and again.
“It may not be hard for you blondie, but I’m dying over here. I would even fail basic math class, there is no way I’ll ever pass this shit” you whimpered out, letting your head hit the table. Normally, stupid and dramatic behavior like this would have annoyed the shit out of her but when you did it? Well it was kinda cute.
“Ok, let’s start new ok? We will start at zero and once you’re at one we will get something to eat?” At the word ‘eat’ you immediately perked up, sitting straighter to find new concentration.
It took over an hour for you to get to at least one but Leighton was sure that the hardest work was now done. Or at least she hoped. “So, cafeteria?” You asked as you stuffed all your books into your bag. You received a nod and took off, happy to finally get some food.
Since your first lesson Leighton helped you during class and like two times a week for an hour to four, depending on how fucked you were. And finally, you went from an E to a c- and you were getting even better. The connection between you and Leighton also got better from time to time, creating a strong and unexpected bond.
‘If I have to listen to any of my roommates even one more second, I’m going to kill all of them and then myself”
You couldn’t help but giggle at Leighton text, parents weekend was coming up again and it made her more nervous every day. And while she, even if she won’t admit, actually loved her roommates their chattiness and stuff could get to her.
‘Be outside your dorm in 2’
You texted back, quickly putting on your shoes and jacket before grabbing your wallet and car keys. In the matter of minutes you stood in front of a perfectly styled blonde who wore an annoyed look until she saw you. It was quickly being replaced with a smile as she walked toward you. “So, why’d you want me to be here?” She asked with a giddy voice, as she couldn’t wait to hear what you planned.
“Let’s go to my car and then I’ll tell you” you lead her to your jeep outside of the campus. “My lady” you grinned as you opened the door for her and stretched out your hand to help her inside.
“Thank you very much, such a gentleman. Sooo where are we going?” She studied your face as you pulled out of the parking lot.
“We are going to do something that relaxes you like nothing else”
“What?” She asked, quite confused.
“We are going shopping” you grinned as you drove on to the highway, “but we might have to drive like an hour or something, there’s nothing close that has your standards” her jaw fell as you stopped talking. She couldnt believe that you actually knew where she liked to shop and that you were just out here driving her there.
“You’re kidding right?” She asked, a squeal leaving her when she figured out that you were telling the truth. “That’s so sweet, thank you”
After over an hour of comfortable driving you finally parked your car near her favorite shops. “Alright princess, let’s go” you grinned as you opened the passenger door, your hand stretched out to help her out. “Where to first?”
Your first shop was YSL which leighton already left with two begs. Or rather you as you immediately took the bags so she could look around in the next shop which was Balenciaga and then Prada, Givenchy, Versace, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Tom Ford.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to carry anything?” The blonde asked as she could barely see you underneath all the bags you carried for her. At least one of each brand, or rather at least two of each brand. She couldn’t deny that it was extremely cute, the way you did all of this for her.
“Positive. Are you sure you don’t wanna go anywhere else anymore?” You asked as she walked back to the car. If you were really quiet you could hear her credit card scream.
“Yeah, but maybe we could go and eat something at a real restaurant?”
“Sure, what did you have in mind?” You asked while putting the bags in the trunk, the blonde standing next to you. After she found a restaurant she liked you made your way there, even from the outside you could see that it was really fancy. “Are you sure I can go inside like this?” You weren’t dressed badly but definitely not as expensive as her which made you unsure of your outfit.
“Of course, you look good” the smile she sent you made your heart beat faster and your face flush a little red. “Now Let’s go, I’m starving” she was out of the car in the matter of seconds, waiting for you to join her. Once you left the car you walked next to each other, your hands constantly brushing against the other ones. You had heard that Leighton was not a big pda fan so you guessed that it was an accident. But you didn’t pull away in case of this being on purpose.
After you guys ate it was already late and the eventful day was catching up to her as she fell asleep in the car. You smiled at the sight, she looked a lot calmer than most of the time and you couldn’t see one bit of the stress from this morning. When you had to stop on a red light you retrieved your jacket from the backseat and put it over her to act like a blanket.
You carefully tapped her shoulder to wake her up which didn’t work. “Leighton, we are here. Cmon, wake up” you whispered and shook her shoulder.
“M awake” she grumbled as her eyes slowly opened.
“Good, take the time that I need to get your backs to wake up okay?” She gave you a small nod before you disappeared, wondering how you carried all those bags before. After you finally got each and every bag on you, you walked back to the passenger seat where Leighton was finally awake.
“Alright, let’s go” she jumped out of the car, your jacket now over her shoulders and her pinky linked with yours as she pulled you along to her dorm. “You can just put them down over there” she told you as she pointed to the corner next to her closet. “Thank you, a lot. The last days were really stressful and today made me forget about it” you smiled at her, taking a step forward.
“It was my pleasure. Weirdly, I can’t think of anything better than carrying your bags for you” she giggles shyly and also takes a step toward you. Your hand gravitates towards her waist while hers carefully rests on your shoulder. You leaned in further, your lips slightly touching as your hand tightened around her waist. But before you could do anything else, Bella came in.
“Leighton! Guess what” she started to scream out, making you pull away quickly. Your hands left her waist and were immediately pushed into your pockets. “Oh my god, did I just cockblock you?” The dark haired girl screamed even louder making both of you cringe.
“No, no you didn’t. I gotta go, I have class really early tomorrow. Thanks again Leigh and I’ll see you around Bella” you quickly left the room without looking back but you could still feel the blondes nerves.
You decided that you’d talk to her tomorrow, it was late and she probably had to listen to Bella ramble about whatever was going on. So tomorrow just seemed like the safer option, at least until it was later the next day and you still haven’t seen her. It was Friday which meant that you didn’t have a course with her and you were extremely busy. But as you were scared that she might think that you were trying to avoid her.
“Sad I didn’t see you today. Sorry I left so quickly, but I couldn’t stay after Bella said whatever she said. Can’t wait to see you again :)”
You took a deep breath before hitting send. By now you were scarred that she might be avoiding you and that she was actually very unhappy about the kiss. What you didn’t know was that Leightons heart started to beat faster when she saw your name pop up on her screen. She was scared of what might now be between you two after you left so suddenly.
“Whose text are you smiling at like that?” Whitney asked as they all sat in the common room. While she did try to annoy her roommate she was more than happy to see her friend like this.
“None of your business” she grumbled, her smile still being very apparent.
“Oh, I bet it’s y/n” Kimberly shyly added. She was good with Leighton but she sometimes still scared her.
“Gosh, they would be a hot ass couple. Y/n’s hot. Damn you’re a lucky lady” Bella said, slapping her hand on the blondes leg which made her glare at her.
“Remember how I said none of your business?” They all laughed as she returned to her phone.
“Get that, wished I could have left too. I thought you were avoiding me. I’ll see you tomorrow right? Are u bringing ur parents to math too?”
You immediately opened the chat, not giving a damn about seeming needy.
“Ofc, that’s the only reason they’re coming. Couldn’t dream of avoiding u, wanna meet up before math tomorrow?”
After you talked about when and where you’d meet tomorrow you texted her goodnight and went to sleep, your mind filled with pictures of the blonde.
The next morning you were up way too early but when your parents came you had to get ready a lot more than normally. “There you are y/n” your mother called out as she walked up to you with open arms, a fake smile on her face. You hugged all of them as a greeting before standing opposite of them.
“Alright, we will go to that parents thing and then we will come to your math class ok?” Your father didn’t wait for an answer as they walked away making you sigh. You, just as many others, were more than happy about this parents thing today. It gave you some peace and quiet.
Leighton was waiting for you in front of the lecture room, the new bag she bought with you slung over her shoulder. “Hey” you smiled shyly as walked up to her, her face adorned with a similar one.
“Hello” she looked around before continuing to talk, “I am so happy about this parent meeting. I was about to kill myself” you laughed nodding.
“You’re telling that to me? My parents asked about this course before asking about me. And I wish I were joking” both of you laughed before just staring at each other for a moment. In a moment of confidence the blonde pulled you into the empty room, she smiled brightly as she noticed that you happily followed.
The moment the door closed, your hands were on her hips and hers were cupping the back of your neck. You didn’t need any words before your lips crashed against each other, her scent developing you whole. Without breaking the kiss you guided her against the wall, her back making harsh contact with it. “Sorry” you mumbled when she gasped, barely breaking the kiss. You kept making out until the blondes phone started to ring.
“Let it ring” she mumbled when she noticed that you were pulling away. You laughed and tried to pull away again but she kept pulling you closer or chasing your lips.
“Leigh, I’d love to keep making out. Trust me. But our parents are gonna come soon and if I had to guess I’d say that this is your dad” you explained as you pulled away, your hands rubbing along her hips. She groaned before looking at her phone, seeing that you were right. With another groan she answered the phone, the arm around your neck keeping you close. Since you got bored when she was on the phone, you started to lightly kiss her neck up and down.
She bit her lip to stop her giggles, but she didn’t push you away. Instead she pulled you even closer, just waiting to hang up. When she finally did, she gave you a quick kiss. “My parents will be here in 10 minutes” she told you, her fingers playing with the baby hair on the back of your neck.
“Then we should probably fix your makeup and my hair huh?” You asked as one of your hands ran through your hair. When you received a nod you opened your hand for her to give you her pocket mirror so she could see what she was doing.
“You’re a great mirror holder babe” she joked when she was done freshening up her makeup and then fixed your hair for you.
“Babe?” You grinned watching her face fall and her confidence suddenly replaced with doubt.
“I mean- yeah, we are- I thought” you decided to interrupt her as her behavior freaked you out. A not confident Leighton was a new world.
“You thought right, I was just messing with you. Cmere” you pulled her closer for another kiss, that quickly turned into multiple small pecks.
“Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N” your mothers voice suddenly rang.
Gosh, you were fucked.

masterlist | next part
Leighton Murray found herself in the new top-level math class at Essex College. Little did she know, this class would not only challenge her love of equations but also introduce her to someone who would change her for the better.
Y/N, a reserved and quiet girl, sat quietly in the back row, focusing on the formulas written on the whiteboard. As the days passed, Leighton noticed the mysterious girl with an air of intrigue. Leighton, never one to shy away from new connections, decided to make her move.
One day after class, Leighton approached Y/N with a warm smile. "Hey there, Y/N, isn't it? Mind if I borrow your notes? I think I was a bit distracted today."
Y/N looked up, surprised by the friendly approach. "Oh, sure. Here you go," she replied, handing over her notebook.
As Leighton flipped through the pages, she couldn't help but notice the meticulous organization of Y/N's notes. "Wow, you're really thorough. I wish I had your dedication."
Y/N blushed slightly at the compliment. "Thanks, I just like to stay organized."
Leighton chuckled, "I'm Leighton, by the way. Leighton Murray."
"Pretty name, Leighton," she replied, a hint of nervousness in her voice.
Leighton continued to engage in friendly conversations with Y/N after classes, discovering common interests and shared passions. As the weeks passed, their connection deepened, and Leighton found herself captivated by Y/N's intelligence, kindness, and, unknowingly to her, the subtle signs of a shared attraction.
One evening, after a particularly challenging math assignment, Leighton invited Y/N to grab a coffee with her. They found a cozy spot in a nearby cafe, Sips. The atmosphere was filled with the warmth of brewing espresso and soft conversation.
As they sipped their drinks, Leighton leaned in, breaking the barrier of friendship. "You know, Y/N, I feel like we've become really good friends. But there's something I've been meaning to ask you."
Y/N looked at her curiously, her heart pounding.
Leighton smiled warmly, "Are you seeing anyone? Because I can't help but feel this connection between us, and I don't want to assume anything, but..."
Y/N looked around quickly, her eyes narrowing at Leighton. "What?" she spoke quickly, noticing a few eyes on her. She chuckles awkwardly, leaning back from Leighton.
Y/N's eyes widened, and she hesitated for a moment. The fear of exposing her true self and the potential consequences rushed through her mind. In a moment of panic, she stammered, "I am not gay, Leighton. I'm gonna go" She spoke with a forced laugh, standing up quickly and packing up her stuff, heading out of the cafe without glancing behind her.
Leighton looked around embarrassed, wanting to chase after Y/N but not wanting to seem desperate.
Leighton sat there with a frown on her face, Kimberly walked over and sat down after seeing the interaction. "Are you okay?" She asked softly, her eyebrows furrowed at seeing Leighton upset.
___
The thumping bass of the music echoed through the crowded frat party, creating an energetic atmosphere. Leighton, enjoying the night with friends, spotted Y/N across the room. Excitement flickered in her eyes as she made her way through the sea of people, eager to talk about what happened with Y/N.
However, as Leighton approached, she couldn't help but notice Y/N actively avoiding her. Confusion clouded Leighton's expression as she tried to understand why Y/N seemed to be purposefully keeping her distance. Determined to address the situation, Leighton maneuvered through the crowd, attempting to catch up with Y/N.
"Hey, Y/N! Wait up!" Leighton called out, her voice barely audible over the music.
Y/N turned, a brief flash of panic in her eyes, before she quickly changed direction, disappearing into the throng of dancing bodies. Perplexed, Leighton picked up her pace, determined to get to the bottom of the sudden avoidance.
Several attempts later, Leighton managed to corner Y/N in a quieter corner of the frat house. "Y/N, what's going on? Did I do something?"
Y/N, visibly flustered, avoided eye contact. "No, Leighton, it's not you. I just... I need some space, okay? I'll catch up with you later."
Leighton left her alone after that, finding herself soon surrounded by her roommates, – Whitney, Kimberly, and Bela. As they navigated the lively atmosphere, Leighton noticed Y/N at the makeshift bar, downing a few shots.
Curiosity flickered in Leighton's eyes as she observed Y/N from a distance. However, her intrigue turned to hurt when a guy approached Y/N, his intentions written all over his face. Leighton exchanged glances with her friends, and they collectively decided to keep an eye on the situation.
Leighton's brow furrowed as she watched the guy engage Y/N in conversation, leaning in with a flirty smile. The atmosphere around them became tense as the guy tried to make his move. Leighton couldn't help but feel a knot forming in her stomach.
The guy's attempts escalated, and, to Leighton's dismay, Y/N seemed to be going along with it, albeit reluctantly. The situation took an unexpected turn when the guy leaned in and kissed Y/N. Leighton's heart sank as she saw Y/N reciprocate, a look of happiness evident on her face.
Y/N abruptly pulled back, a brief expression of disgust crossing her features before she masked it with a forced smile. Leighton exchanged glances with her friends, the concern etched on their faces mirroring her own.
Y/N, feeling weird about the situation and needing an escape from the persistent guy at the party, decided to create an excuse. She gently extricated herself from his hold and said, "Hey, I actually need to head home. It's getting late."
The guy, with a cocky grin, tightened his grip on her, clearly not taking no for an answer. "Come on, don't be like that. The night's still young."
Y/N, feeling increasingly annoyed, insisted, "No, really. I have to go." She attempted to pull away, but the guy complained, trying to persuade her to stay.
"We'll catch up later, okay?"
The guy, displeased with the situation, reluctantly released Y/N. However, before she could fully distance herself from him, he pulled her back in for another kiss. Y/N, feeling pressured, went along with it briefly. As they kissed, the guy's actions became more intrusive, as he groped Y/N's ass.
Y/N pulled back with a short smile, holding her arms around his neck. "I really gotta go now, I'll see you later." She smiles at him, silently celebrating when he lets her go.
She heads out of the party quickly, walking home a little too sober for her liking. Leighton wants to follow her but decides to give her space for a bit.
Later that evening, Leighton found herself standing outside Y/N's dorm room, contemplating whether to knock or not. After taking a deep breath, she gently tapped on the door. Y/N opened it, surprised to see Leighton standing there.
"Hey," Leighton began, a hint of concern in her eyes. "I hope I'm not intruding, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something might be wrong. Can we talk?"
Y/N hesitated but eventually nodded, inviting Leighton into her room. The air in the room was tense, and Y/N couldn't bring herself to make eye contact.
Leighton sat down, choosing her words carefully. "I noticed something changed after I asked you out earlier. I didn't mean to put you on the spot like that, I guess I just read the vibes wrong. I genuinely care about you, Y/N, I'm sorry."
Y/N took a deep breath, mustering the courage to speak her truth. "It isn't that, Leighton. My family is pretty uptight. I've been struggling with the fear of coming out to them, and it's making me hesitant about being open about me, even liking you. Especially around my cousin who came here with me" Y/N expresses quickly, getting worked up over the conversation.
Leighton hums quietly, "I understand, Y/N. Coming out can be really challenging, especially when you're uncertain about how your family will react. And with your cousin around, it adds an extra layer of shit I don't even know how to get into. I never wanted it to change my life, but Y/N it has never felt better. I'm still me, I never changed, I just get to freely love who I wanna love and not worry about it. It's gotta be hard with family around, but I wanna support you however I can. Some people suck, but those people don't matter, they come and go, your friends, me, I stay."
Y/N places her hands on her thighs, squeezing them for comfort.
"It's just that my cousin is pretty.. intense, and the thought of her finding out about us, me, it terrifies me. I'm scared of any public affection or behavior that might give it away. I feel like I'm hiding all the time and it's suffocating."
Leighton places one of her hands on top of one of Y/N's, smiling sadly at her.
"I'm so sorry you have to deal with this shit, Y/N. It must be really fucking tough for you. Just know that I'm here for you, we can figure this out together, if that's what you want?"
Y/N looked up, meeting Leighton's gaze, and for the first time, she felt a tinge of hope and acceptance. In that shared moment, the unspoken understanding between them deepened, setting the foundation for a connection that went beyond the surface and resonated with the complexities of being true to oneself.
In a sudden surge of courage, Y/N leaned in and pressed a quick, soft kiss on Leighton's lips.
Leighton blinked in surprise as Y/N quickly backed up, her eyes widening, panic flashing in Y/N's eyes. "I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that without asking. I am so sorry"
Leighton caught off guard but pleasantly surprised, couldn't help but smile. "Hey, it's okay. No need to apologize. I'm more than okay with it."
Y/N's eyes flickered up to Leightons, seeking reassurance. "Really?"
Leighton nodded, her smile growing wider. "Absolutely. If it feels right for you, then that's all that matters. I want this, Y/N."
Encouraged by Leighton's positive response, Y/N smiles shyly at her. "So, is it okay if we... you know, try that again?"
Leighton chuckled, "Definitely," and Y/N leaned in once more. This time, the kiss lingered, a sweet and tender connection forming between them.
Leighton's smile grew during the kiss, leaning back to give her a quick kiss again. Y/N looked at Leighton with a newfound confidence in her eyes. "Thank you for being so understanding and supportive. I appreciate it more than you know."
Leighton reached out, squeezing Y/N's hand. "We're in this together, Y/N. No need to rush anything. Whenever you're ready, I'll be right here."

Not A Verstappen: Lights Out {2}
Pairing: Charles Leclerc x fem!driver!reader x Lando Norris Summary: If there's one person you fear most about breaking the news to it is your mother, but you also really need the comfort of home. Wickford, Essex
You had asked Charles and Lando to stay in the car when you pulled into your mother’s driveway but they had ignored your wishes. They had listened to your worries the entire flight and tried to reassure you that the thoughts you had were all the worst possible outcomes, not the likeliest. They reminded you how much your mother loved you and has always been your biggest supporter. Your biggest fear was losing that.
“This isn’t just your responsibility,” Lando said as he took your hand, Charles taking the other. “We got into this together.”
“And we are going to keep doing this together, mon amour.”
The door had opened before you reached the porch and she watched passively and you climbed the steps.
“Is everything okay, sweetheart?” she asked, knowing you had been replaced but not the reason why.
You shook your head and it opened the dam for the tears you had been trying to hold back the entire drive. Of all the people that had the right to know the news, she was the one you were most afraid to tell. You didn’t want to disappoint her the way her parents had been disappointed when she had you.
“Aw, honey, come here.” She opened her arms for you and like a child you rushed towards the comfort she could offer.
“I fucked up, mum,” you confessed as she squeezed you tighter. You had been taller than her since you were a teenager but in her arms you still felt like a small child and it reminded you of just how unprepared you were to do this for yourself, to be the emotional support for a child relying on you. “You should probably sit down.”
You followed her silently into the living room and Charles closed the door behind. She was getting nervous and you noticed how she straightened the coasters on the coffee table with meticulous care to keep her hands busy.
You felt sick as you sat down beside her and reached into your pocket. Lando and Charles floated in your periphery but neither took a seat, opting to stand close while Lando bit his fingernails before Charles pulled his hand away from his mouth.
“What’s going on, honey? You didn’t get arrested in Qatar, did you?”
“Um, no, but I…here.” She frowned as you unfolded the picture and handed it over. A few seconds passed without a reaction as she stared at the sonogram and you couldn’t handle the silence. “I know you worked your ass off to get me into racing and I’ve always wanted to make you proud and I’m so sorry, mum. I have no seat, no team, no job.”
She placed the picture down on her lap and took your shaking hands, squeezing them until you lifted your head to meet her warm eyes. “I’m sorry, sweetheart. I’m sorry that you were so scared to tell me. I know I probably haven’t painted the greatest picture of motherhood and I’m sorry for that. But you are not me, honey. You may not have a seat, but you do have a team,” she said, nodding her head to Charles and Lando before picking up the photo and placing it in your hands, closing your fingers around it. “And you have the most important job in the world now.”
You wiped away the teardrop that landed on the photo and looked back at her. “You’re not disappointed with me?”
“No, honey, you’ve never disappointed me and you never will. I do wish you could have waited a few more years though.”
“Me too,” you sighed, relaxing back into the couch as the fear and anxiety finally flooded from your body.
“Why don’t you go lie down, you look exhausted.”
You nodded and held your hands out for Charles to pull you to your feet. “Told you there was nothing to worry about,” he hummed in your ear.
“I assume you are staying a few days before we head to Austin?”
Lando took your spot on the couch and grabbed the tv remote. “If that’s alright with you. It’s probably better to lay low for a few days.”
“You’re not hiding from Max again, are you?”
Their voices faded as you went to the bedroom and curled up on the bed, patting the space beside you. “Please?”
Charles smiled softly and climbed in, opening his arm so you could scoot up against him and drape one leg over his. “Have I told you how much I love you?”
“Not in this timezone,” you chuckled, tugging his shirt up so you could play with the happy trail that disappeared into his jeans. “But you are welcome to show me.”
“Chérie, your mum is down the hall,” he groaned as your palm caressed him over the denim.
“It didn’t stop you last time we were here.”
“She wasn’t awake.” He brought your hand back up his body to rest over his heart and kissed your lips. “Later, promise. How are you feeling?”
“Like a weight has been lifted,” you admitted with a small smile. “What about you? How are you so calm about all this?”
Charles stared at the roof remembering the moment he found out you were pregnant, the doctor skipping through the information like he wasn’t just flipping the whole world on its head. He had been too stunned to speak and your hand slipped from yours to slam lifelessly against the metal rails. He wouldn’t tell you that part though and when he recovered from the shock he had picked your hand back up, kissing it softly as he made silent promises to you, and the baby.
“Because I love you, and I love Lando, and I always hoped we would have a family together one day.”
You tipped your head back so you could smile up at him. “One day, you mean, far away.”
The hard pillow beneath your head bounced with his quiet laugh. “Good timing has never been our thing, has it, amour?”
It had taken years of pining for each other before anything actually happened and everyone was single at the same time. “I suppose not. But do you know what this means?”
His hand laid atop yours as you placed it on your stomach. “What?”
“I won the bet.”
You woke to an empty bed and laughter down the hall. Now that you weren’t training there was no reason to rise before the sun and go for a run, you had even managed to out-sleep Lando. Rubbing your bleary eyes, you padded to the dining room to see your baby photos spread out on the table.
“Charles, spot the difference,” Lando said as he held a photo up beside you and laughed.
“I can’t, they are the same,” Charles chuckled.
Snatching the picture, you turned it over to reveal a toddler sized version of you in a pair of pyjamas and your hair equally messy. “I’ll remember this when your parents get here,” you threatened as you reached for Charles’ coffee only for him to move it from your reach. “Be nice - I’m pregnant.”
Charles curled his arm around your waist and pulled you onto his knee while Lando disappeared into the kitchen. “I know you are pregnant, which is why there is no more coffee for you.”
“Peppermint or chamomile?”
You resigned yourself to their protective nature and answered Lando over the sound of the kettle boiling. “Peppermint, I guess. Did you really have to bring out the baby album?”
Your mum started to collect the pictures back up and pack them into the storage box they came from. “You were a cute baby, and look at the gene pool - your little one is going to be gorgeous too. Have you decided on a name?”
You wrinkled your nose as a steaming mug of tea was sat down where a strong coffee should have been. “No. Last week I didn’t even know I was pregnant and they can’t even decide if the surname will be Leclerc-Norris or Norris-Leclerc.”
“Alphabetical, of course,” Lando scoffed.
Charles immediately countered him. “Everybody knows it’s age before beauty.”
“And here we go again.” You rolled your eyes and warmed your hands on the mug as a thought made you laugh. “I could really shock the world and go with Verstappen.”
That silenced their argument.
“I’m kidding, I’m kidding,” you reassured them as your mother went to make her famous blueberry muffins for later. “What time is everyone getting here?”
You were far more relaxed after breaking the news to your mother now that it came to telling Lando and Charles’ family. The Leclercs were coming from Monaco and the Norris’ were driving from Bristol, and you had quietly hired the local Inn for a few nights to house them all. You knew you could trust Mr Gainsbury to keep quiet about what he heard or saw in the pub that was going to be closed for a ‘private function’.
Lando checked his phone eagerly to see if there were any updates from his parents or for the flight from Nice. “About 3. Max is on his way too, with Vicky and the boys.”
You still couldn’t believe it was Lando who was the most excited to break the news. Your Lando, who avoided any sense of conflict, was itching to tell not just the family but the world that he was going to be a father. It almost hurt to keep him silent, but he understood why you wanted everything to remain private.
“This is turning out bigger than Christmas,” you muttered.
“This is more special than Christmas. Christmas happens every year, but this…” you could hear the smile in Charles' words as he cradled your stomach, “is our first child.”
You leant back against him and chuckled when Lando pulled your feet up onto his lap to massage them. “I didn’t know you were so interested in becoming fathers.”
“I didn’t know I wanted a McLaren 720s Spider until I drove one,” Lando smirked.
“Did you just compare our sweet to a test drive, mon cher?”
Lando realised his mistake and quickly tried to back track as you laughed at the attempts to explain his way out. Finally he gave up and sulked while his massage shifted higher up your calves until he found the sensitive spot behind your knees. A small needy gasp escaped at the work his hands were doing and Charles shifted beneath you at the sound.
“I think we should go for a drive,” he suggested in your ear.
Your eyes darkened at the offer and you smirked as you wriggled on your seat. “In the SUV with the very, very tinted windows, and the seats that fold down into a bed?”
Charles groaned, lightly slapping your thigh for teasing him. “Oui. That one.”
You raced to the bathroom so you could at least brush your teeth and hair to be semi presentable for the planned park up before changing into a dress and grabbing your purse. Both of them were already at the front door when you turned and called out. “Mum, we’re going shopping, do you want anything while we are out?”
“No, thank you,” she replied from the kitchen. “Have fun.”
Lando and Charles shared a smirk. “We plan to.”

Kinktober: Matthew Joy
Pair: Matthew Joy x fem!reader
Summary: The Essex has taken your ship and its crew. The captain finds out your secret.
Warnings: Dub-con (Virginity loss/Rough/Creampie)
im a little high and horny so happy third post of kinktober <3
The wind was unforgiving, as always. If it weren’t for the leather gloves covering your hands, your skin would’ve been broken by the sheer pull of the ropes that held the sails taut. Your hat nearly flew away. The rest of the crew scrambled around the ship to assess the damage.
From what you could see, the bow had caught fire from the blast and what was a small hole now threatened to sink the entire ship. The attackers, another whaling ship that flew the flag of Great Britain in the front and a black flag in the rear, already had their hooks in the hull of your ship.
Water was already seeping into the lower regions of the ship and it was only a matter of time before you all were submerged underwater. Your captain blew the whistle. The instrument was a precaution just in case of a situation like this one. It only meant one thing: All crew were to meet on the deck and prepare for the inevitable.
Cautiously, you let go of the rope and watched as the sail blew away into the sea. They had warned you of an event like this and dying at sea was only a crazy, yet rational fear until now. You climbed down the pole and stood on the deck with the rest of your crew.
You couldn’t thank these men enough. They treated you like you were no different than them. Dying next to them would be an honor.
The attacking ship’s crew began to climb onto your ship with large guns in their hands. More advanced than you had ever seen in your lifetime. The man held up his gun, pointed at your captain, and shot. Bits of blood and gore splattered along the deck and on your uniforms. Your crew stayed still.
The other man pointed the gun at the rest of you and pointed to their own ship. Carefully, you followed the man’s instructions and gathered on the deck of the other ship, watching your ship sink along with the remains of your poor captain.
You knelt in a line, the other ship’s captain standing in front of you all with his arms folded behind his back. “Welcome aboard the Essex. My name is Captain Matthew Joy and you will address me as such. Now, our ship cannot accommodate all of you, prisoner or not.”
He stands in front of the man at the end of the lineup. “Stand.” This was the cook. Even if you never particularly anticipated his meals, he was still a good man and a fine addition to the crew. He saved the end pieces of the loaves of bread for you on the occasion that you had fresh bread.
Captain Joy eyed the cook down. “Strip.” The guns were still aimed at him as he began to unbutton his uniform and drop the clothing until he stood bare in front of the Captain. “What are your skills?”
“Kitchen, sir.”
One by one, you watch your crewmates get undressed and assessed, then thrown off of the ship. You notice his shoes stop in front of you and you slowly rise to your feet. He raised a brow, noticing your features. “Skills?”
“I work the sails.” You interlock your hands together behind your back, trying to be as proper as possible.
He narrowed his eyes. “Tell the truth.”
You shed your jacket, maintaining eye contact with him. “That is the truth.”
His eyes surveyed you. There was no way something your size would be able to handle the brutal job of maintaining the sails of a ship that size. That position was reserved for men twice your size...not a young boy, in his opinion. "Off with your clothes, then."
The act could only last a few seconds more as you stripped yourself of your outerwear, then shirt and pants, leaving you exposed. Under the outfit, there was reasonable doubt that you were a man. Without it, your breasts perked from the touch of the frigid sea air, and your womanhood couldn't be mistaken for anything else. You kept a cold stare on the captain, waiting to see how fast he would order you off the ship.
"Colour me surprised, love. Quite the beauty was hiding under all of those rags." He smirks, shamelessly checking out your body and reaching out to touch your collarbone. "A sweet thing like you really worked the sails? Or were you keen on more...indoor activities?"
He laughed, along with the crewmates of his ship. Your crew felt less fear for themselves and more for your safety. You knew all too well the dangers of being a woman all alone with men on a ship in the middle of the ocean. They did their best to protect you and treat you just the same.
"Get rid of the rest however you'd like." He took your arm and pulled you down the stairs to the quarters. His was the largest, as he was the captain. Secluded from all of the other men.
He shut the door behind the both of you and led you to sit on the edge of the bed. "They're good men. Good sailors. It would be a waste to kill them."
He pushed some of your hair behind your ear and cooed teasingly. "Don't worry about them, sweet thing. All that matters is that you're alive and you're job won't be with the sails any longer."
"What's my job, then?" A part of you knew already, but it needed to come from his mouth, in his words.
His soft smile had a sinister edge to it. "Serve the crew meals in the galley...and service them when they desire."
There it was. Exactly what you feared when you signed up to join the ship in the first place. Your luck had run out exponentially.
You kept your gaze on the floorboards, seemingly rotting within the ship as he stood on it. "I won't be able to do that as well as you hope."
"Why's that? Any whore can do the job just fine." He reached for the trousers of his uniform. You could already see the way his erection strained against the fabric. Men at sea typically only had their hands to work with unless they fancied other men.
You shook your head. "I'm not a whore. I'm a sailor. And I've...never done anything like that."
He quirked a brow, grinning now. It didn't stop him from freeing his cock. How was that going to fit? "Not only do I get to fuck a pretty girl, but I get to claim her as my own. I can't promise I'll be gentle when I deflower you."
You could barely react to his words before he pushed you back to lay on the bed, already straddling your hips and positioning his leaking tip in front of your entrance. He was far from unattractive and in any other circumstance, you might consider marrying a man that had his looks and confidence.
Now, you braced yourself as your walls stretched to accommodate his length. His hot breath burned against your neck as he pushed further inside and groaned in pure bliss. "Been months since I had pussy. Never had it this tight."
It wasn't supposed to hurt like this, right? If it felt so good for the man, then why did it feel like he was splitting you open just by being inside of you? Maybe the pleasure would come later, though it didn't feel like that later was anywhere close. You could feel every vein and ridge of his cock dragging against your walls, antagonizingly slow to make sure your pain was prolonged. Or, that's how it seemed.
"Fuck. Consider your cherry popped. Now, it's my turn." He pushed his entire weight on top of you and started to thrust faster as if he had a time limit. His tip repeatedly tapped so deeply into you, that what you think might've been an orgasm was coiling within your stomach.
Tears pricked at the corners of your eyes, but you weren't sure if they were of pain or pleasure. He didn't bother to check if you were enjoying it, only focusing on getting as deep as he possibly could.
When the thrusts became more...quick, that's when you felt it. A warm sensation deep inside of you. He sucked on your neck and moaned, softly thrusting again to push his seed back into you. "Forget what I said about being the ship's whore. You're only mine now."

---
"What the is your problem, Y/N!?" Your coach shouted from the sidelines, watching you recover from a gnarly fight with a player from the other team.
You were about to score another goal when the player in question grabbed you by your jersey, causing you to slip and fall face first into the pitch.
You should've let it go. You knew better. But your face hurt, you were pissed, and before you could even comprehend the situation, you were in the girl's face swearing at her and shoving her.
A yellow card was being shoved in your face by the referee and you pushed past his hand, wiping your face with your jersey and making your way over to the sidelines where your coach was beckoning for you.
"Are you good?" Whitney jogged to catch up to you, her hand resting on your stomach to get you to stop moving, but you kept walking. She pressed more firmly against you, forcing you to stop. "Yo, I said are you good?" She asked, sounding more serious and annoyed this time and you blinked a few times to try to get your brain working again.
"I'm fine." You say, swallowing down your anger because you refuse to take it out on someone that didn't deserve it.
"Y/L/N!" Your coach shouted from the sidelines, his face red. Whitney raised her eyebrows and shoved you forward, heading back on to the field.
You jogged your way over to him, wiping your sweaty face with your arm and once you were within range, he was toe to toe with you, screaming in your face. It was the usual shit. How he expected more from you. That you all are too close to the championship for you to be fucking around like this and risk getting a red and being suspended from games. That you know your team relies on you. To be better. All fucking bullshit.
You stared at the vein popping out of his forehead, your own anger beginning to bubble up again the longer you went without your pills.
You clenched your jaw, grinding your teeth and thinking about how badly all you wanted to do was smash his teeth and get the fuck out of here.
You were benched for the remainder of the game. You were already up by three points, two of which were scored by you. Coach said you were clearly in a mood today and the last thing he needed was for you to get into another fight. He said Whitney and the other girls could handle themselves the rest of the game and to get the fuck out of his face.
There were only about eight minutes left in the game and they felt like eternity. You downed a Gatorade, feeling yourself start to get nauseous. One of your teammates offered you a granola bar and you declined, fully convinced that eating it would only make you feel worse.
The other team scored two goals in your absence and the coach shot you dirty looks for the entirety of final eight minutes of the game. You still won by a one point lead and everyone still celebrated, running up and pulling you into a bouncing hug that also made you want to hurl.
You broke away from the team as soon as you were given the opportunity, grabbing your gym bag and another Gatorade from the cooler. You chugged some of the Gatorade with shaky hands, walking to the locker room.
You shoved all your clothes into your bag, not even bothering to or having the strength to change into them right now.
You dug out your phone, accidentally having shoved it into your bag with the rest of your things. You texted your connect two days ago, then also yesterday, and still didn't get a response from him. You grunted in frustration and locked your phone, shoving it back into your bag.
You began the short trek back to the dorms from the field, knowing exactly where you wanted to go and who you wanted to be with.
You nursed the Gatorade on your short walk over, feeling the icy drink somewhat bring you back to life. When you were standing outside of her dorm, you pulled out your phone to call her.
"Hey, I'm outside. Come get meeeee." You said as soon as she answered the phone. She said she was on her way without hesitation and you knew she wasn't lying because you could hear her grabbing her keys. You smiled and hung up the phone, waiting patiently for her, sipping on your Gatorade. The hot sun doing absolutely nothing to help you feel better.
Leighton opened the side door of the building for you, letting you in and the cool breeze from the air conditioning made you feel human again.
Or maybe it was just the grip she had on your hips when you walked in, having wasted no time wrapping her arms around you.
"You're so sweaty, are you okay?" She asked, her cool hand pressing against the back of your neck.
"I'm just so warm, babe." You pouted, wanting her to take care of you. To help you get rid of this problem that truthfully you caused yourself.
It wasn't even that hot outside today. There was a cool breeze to help balance out the heat of the sun, but you felt this heat and warmth under your skin and made you want to claw it off.
She closed the door behind you and gripped your sweaty hand, leading you up to her room.
Bela was sitting on the couch when you entered, doing her make up and most likely preparing to go out somewhere tonight. You smiled and greeted her politely and she had no trouble telling you that you looked like shit.
Leighton told her to zip it and she pulled you into her room, shutting the door behind her.
"Change out of those nasty clothes, please." She said, setting up her bed and pulling the covers back. She stole the standing fan from Bela's side of the room, aiming it toward her bed.
You pulled off your jersey, wiping your face with it once more, pressing the material into your skin. You felt her hands on your bare hips, tracing soft patterns with her thumbs and waiting patiently for you to change.
You sigh, removing your jersey from your face and making your way to your gym bag. You shove your jersey into the bag and pull out your deodorant, putting on almost an excessive amount.
You stripped off your sports bra and changed into a pair of comfy shorts and a tank top.
"Better?" You ask and she nods, climbing into bed first and taking her usual position pressed against the wall. She pats the space next to her and you waste no time climbing in, laying face down with your face buried in your arms.
She lifts up the back of your shirt, exposing your sweaty back to the cool breeze of the fan and you could feel yourself starting to shiver now, but your skin still felt like it was on fire.
You grabbed your phone from her nightstand, checking your messages again and still seeing nothing. You turned your phone on loud and tossed it aside with annoyance.
"What's the matter?" She asked softly, her fingers running through your damp hair "Do you feel sick?" She asks sounding concerned.
You nodded, unsure what else to tell her.
"I think I just played too hard today." You lie, knowing damn well you didn't use as much energy as you could've and should've for today's game.
"I heard you got into a fight." She says, her fingertips now tracing patterns along your back.
"God, Whitney is fast." You groan, adjusting yourself so you can lay your head on her chest. Grunting and pushing one of her boobs into a better position for you to rest your head on.
She threw her head back and laughed loudly at your measures to make yourself comfortable, pushing some hair from your face.
"You're ridiculous." She teases, her hand coming down to rest on the back of your head.
"I'm aware." You mumble, closing your eyes in an attempt to calm down, cool off, warm up, and maybe fall the fuck asleep.
It had been maybe twenty minutes, possibly more, when your phone went off. It went off in the text tone specific to your app where you communicated with your dealer and your heart raced.
You were about ready to fly off the bed and grab your phone, but that was probably the most obvious and suspicious thing you could do at the moment. You let the text sit for a minute, your foot bouncing anxiously against the mattress.
It pinged again and you sat up slowly, reaching over to grab your phone from the nightstand.
'Come thru'
'Yo, let's go. I've got plans later.'
You scrunched your nose up at the message and mentally cussed him out, typing out your reply.
'Be there in ten.'
"I'm gonna run out and get something to eat." You say, standing up and slipping on your gym shoes, then quickly throwing on a t-shirt. "You want something, baby?"
She sat up on her elbows with a confused look on her face.
"Do you want me to come with you? We can go out somewhere." She offered.
"No," you say a little too fast, making her widen her eyes. "I just want something quick like a smoothie or something. You want anything or no?" You pull your wallet from your gym bag and shove it into your shorts, waiting for her to respond.
"No, I'm fine." She sounded annoyed. You can hear in her voice, but you didn't have time to address it right now.
You crawled on to the bed, pressing a quick kiss to her lips.
"I'll be back." You say, rushing out of her room and closing her bedroom door behind you. You said a quick goodbye to Bela and rushed out of their room, bumping into Whitney who was just coming home.
"Where did you disappear to? How did you get here before me? Where are you even going now?" She asked her questions in quick succession and you just grabbed her shoulder as you walked past her, thinking you were about to knock her down.
"I'll be back. Want a smoothie or something?" You asked her as you walked away, but you were fully gone and out of sight before she even had the chance to answer you.
You bolted down the stairs and out of the building, running across campus to this dude's dorm. All of a sudden your energy had returned. Crazy how it worked like that.
You ran through the student union on your way, stopping at the ATM and pulling out $200 dollars from and eating the fuck out of those ATM fees.
When you made it to his dorm, his roommate was sitting outside hitting his vape, waiting for you. He motioned with his head for you to follow him and just like you do routinely, you followed him to his room. He let you in and left to do god knows what.
"What's up, Angel." You greeted your dealer when the door was closed behind you. "How's it going?"
"No complaints, Y/N. Heard about your fight at the game today." He chuckles, handing you a small baggie of ten blue pills.
"I feel like everyone has." You shake your head and laugh. "Two hundred?" You ask, handing him the money.
He counts it quickly, handing you back a twenty.
"Since I kept you waiting and you got here fast."
"Sweet, thanks so much." You say, taking the pills and the twenty and shoving them into your pocket. "Have a good one!" You wave goodbye to him and he tells you to be safe, opening the door for you and closing it behind you.
You shoved your hand into your pocket, gripping the pills protectively. You walked down the hallway, looking behind you to make sure it was clear, or well clear enough before pulling the baggie back out and taking one of the pills, popping it into your mouth. You swallowed it, washing it down with water from the fountain at the end of the hall.
You began your walk back to Leighton's dorm, already feeling a sense of relief before the meds kicked in.
---
Okay, so, you intended to go back to Leighton's dorm. You really fucking did. You ran into one of your friends on the way over and she invited you to a get together on the edge of campus.
It wasn't a big party or anything, the issue being you were locked into her couch for about six fucking hours once the percs kicked in. It really wasn't your fault.
Well, okay, it was. Whatever.
When you finally got control of your brain and your limbs to pull out your phone, you saw an obscene amount of missed calls and texts from Leighton.
Even scarier were the missed calls and texts from Whitney.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck." You mumbled under your breath, calling Whitney back first.
"You know you're a fucking asshole, right?" She tells you as soon as you picked up the phone. "Where have you fucking been?" You stayed quiet because you didn't even have anything to say to defend yourself. "What is wrong with you? Like seriously? Do you know Leighton has been freaking out and crying for like the last few hours? Why do you do this to her, Y/N, huh? Do you even care?"
"Of course I fucking care." You say harshly, because you did care about Leighton. The last you wanted to ever do was upset her or hurt her.
"It's been like eight hours, Y/N. What happened to getting a quick smoothie?"
"I ran into a friend and just lost track of time. I'm coming now, okay? Is she home still?"
"Ooh, you piss me the fuck off." She said, hanging up the phone on you.
"Bitch." You muttered, scrolling through your phone and calling Leighton. It rang three times before you were sent to voicemail. You hung up and called back, being sent to voicemail immediately. "Fuck." You swore, standing up and shoving off the random person passed out on you, causing her to mumble and cuss you out before repositioning herself.
You looked around the room. It was just you and two other people, both of which were passed out. You heard thumping upstairs so you knew everyone else kept the party going upstairs.
You shoved your phone into your pocket, shoving both your hands into a pocket to make sure you haven't been robbed during some point of the night.
You stumbled for a moment, feeling yourself gain some sort of sense of clarity when you recognized the guy sleeping on one of the chairs across your room. He was your friend's boyfriend. Well, before he was her boyfriend he was your classmate.
You met him your second semester of freshman year. He was always shy and tended to just gravitate to you whenever you had any classes together. You had lunch with him once outside of class and that's when you introduced him to Liza and they really hit it off.
Now he was passed out in a chair covered in puke and you hated yourself for introducing him to her and sometimes you think he hated you for that, too.
"DJ." You call out his name, tripping over trash and god knows what else to get the where he was sitting. "Hey!" You shouted gripping his face in your hands, his head lulling to the side. "DJ!" You shouted, slapping him in the face.
"Are you trying to fuck my boyfriend?" Said Liza out of nowhere, leaning against the wall to help herself down the stairs.
"What? Are you fucking insane? You need to call an ambulance!" You say, holding his face in your hands until Liza came and shoved you off.
"He's fine." She slurred, climbing onto his lap.
"Fuck." You say, running your hands through your hair in a panic, thinking of the naloxone you were offered from a clinic not too long ago as some harm reduction thing and the fact that you declined it. "Liza, I'm so fucking serious."
"This is how he always gets." She reassured, cradling is drooping head, his skin pale and lips turning blue.
"Fuck." You swear again, running out of the house as fast as your body allows you, pulling out your phone.
You call 911 when you're out of the house and in the front yard. You tell them the address and where he is, that you think he overdosed and what you think he took. Before they could ask you anymore questions you hung up the phone, debating between staying or going.
You knew about the Good Samaritan Act, which is why you felt inclined to stay, but the fact that you were on campus and the school was under zero obligation to allow you to stay in enrolled if they caught wind of this was the exact reason you left.
You bolted down the block, far enough get away from the house and not seem involved but close enough to look like a bystander who just stumbled upon the situation.
The ambulance showed up within five minutes, knocking on the door and being let in by another panicked person who also must've realized what was happening with DJ.
You expected to be waiting a while for the paramedics to come back out. Hopeful that they would be taking the time to work on him before bringing him back out.
What you didn't expect was for them to be coming out within like three minutes, if that, one of the paramedics straddling the lifeless body and doing chest compressions while the other two rolled them into the ambulance.
Your body processed the situation before your brain could, nausea crashing into like you ran into a cement wall. You stumbled a few feet, dry heaving into a bush and wanting nothing more than just to fucking puke. You spit some salvia on to the dirt below, the only thing your body offering up at the current moment was an excess amount of spit.
The siren turned on and zoomed past you and you sighed in relief, hoping that the fact that they even used the siren at all meant something. You look back toward the house, the only person standing outside was the person who let the paramedics in. No Liza or any of her other little friends.
Though you suppose you could argue that you technically weren't there either.
"Fuck." You mumbled to yourself, digging the heel of your palms into your eyes. You pull out your phone again and call Leighton again, and then again, then once more. On the fourth call she finally picked up, sounding absolutely pissed.
"What." She said coldly. You didn't really care what she said or how she sounded. All you knew was the second you heard her voice, any ability you had to hold yourself together was crumbling.
"Leighton." You said shakily, tears falling down your face. You wanted her to comfort you. To tell you things were going to be okay.
But you couldn't even tell her why you were crying.
"Y/N?" She said, her attitude dropped completely, her tone laced with concern. "Baby, what's going on?"
"Nothing." You say, your voice shaky and your bottom lip quivering. "I just had a really bad night. It's so good to hear your voice." You admit, your voice cracking slightly.
It was a hard predicament to be in, emotionally. You were on the verge of a meltdown, desperately trying to keep it at bay because you didn't want to scare her more than she probably already was. But her soft tone and the fact that you could hear how much she cared about you made you want nothing more than to just breakdown and cry because she always made you feel safe enough to do so.
"Just come over. You left your soccer bag here and you need it for tomorrow anyway." She says and your nostrils flare because you did need your bag for practice tomorrow and you were annoyed with yourself for leaving it there.
"Whitney is pissed at me. She'll get mad if I show up there."
"She's in bed already." She says, and although you've been thinking of ways to get out of going over there, you were already walking over there since the phone call started.
"Okay, I'm on my way. Will you stay on the phone with me?" You ask, the notion of being left alone with your thoughts right now probably more dangerous than any drug you could possibly do, honestly.
"Yeah, of course. Are you close?" You can hear her shuffling around a bit.
"Mhm, maybe two or three blocks." You say, sniffling to clear your nose.
"Okay, good. I'm gonna wait for you by the side door." She says quietly now, most likely because she was leaving her bedroom to walk through the common area of her shared dorm and not wanting to wake Whitney.
Both of you probably too embarrassed to deal with her after she dealt with your bullshit and now Leighton was gearing up to let you back in.
Neither of you talked for the remainder of your walk over. You heard her rustling around and stuff like that, but you didn't even need to talk honestly. You just felt comforted by the fact that she was there on the other end of the phone. That she was there waiting for you at the end of the next block.
As soon as she came into view, you hung up the phone and practically ran to her. She wrapped her arms around you tightly and if you could shove yourself into her chest you would've. Nothing felt close enough.
You gripped the back of her shirt tightly, burying your face in her neck and trying to steady your breathing before it got too out of control and you had a full blown breakdown.
"Hey, what's going on?" She had her hands on your hips, trying to push you back so she could look at you, but you wouldn't release the tight grip you had on her. "Can you please talk to me? You disappeared for hours and show up to my door a wreck, what the fuck is going on?" Her voice was a little more stern than it had been in the last few minutes, but you recognize pretty quickly it's probably because you're scaring her. "Are you hurt?" She asks, still trying to push away from you to assess the situation, but you just held on to her tighter.
She gave up trying to figure out what was wrong, instead focusing on just getting you back inside.
She gave you a pair of pajamas to change into and you crawled into bed next to her. She didn't ask you anymore about what happened or what was going on.
She ran her fingers through your hair until it put her to sleep, the weight of her hand on your head doing wonders for the splitting headache you had. You watched and checked your phone consistently, hoping for some sort of update on DJ, but too scared to call the hospital or anyone to get one yourself.
You couldn't sleep. Despite the tiredness sitting heavy on your eyes, you couldn't do it. Your mind was racing. A combination of soccer and school related bullshit and the fact that you basically possibly indirectly maybe have killed someone, felt absolutely suffocating.
You shook your head in an attempt to clear your thoughts. You never gave DJ drugs. You never told him or forced him to take anything, but you introduced him to the person that did and it made you feel just as responsible as Liza.
You stared at the ceiling until the birds started chirping, your eyes red and cheeks raw from the quiet tears shed throughout the night.
You turned to face Leighton, burying your face in the small space between her cheek and shoulder. Her cheeks were warm and she smelled like a floral lotion and laundry detergent.
You inhaled deeply and closed your eyes, the weight of sleep almost unbearable on your eyelids now. You let out a content sigh and wrapped your arm around her waist, balling her shirt up in your first from gripping it so tightly, your pinky rubbing the small piece of exposed skin on her waist.
You counted in your head everytime your pinky would move back and forth, the combination of the two actions mixed with the warmth of Leighton's body quieting your brain down enough to let you fall asleep.
Your alarm wakes you up three hours later and you groan pitifully, burying yourself further into Leighton while also reaching back for your phone to shut your alarm off.
You huff and turn it off, shoving your phone between your bodies and burying yourself deeper into Leighton's side.
"Do you need to get up for soccer?" She asks, yawning mid sentence, but continues to speak through it.
"Unfortunately."
"Skip it and hang out with me." She suggests, running her fingers through your hair.
"You're funny." You let out a fake laugh, your hand slipping into her shirt to rub patterns across her stomach. "Can I see you after practice though?" You ask her and something about asking if you can see her always makes you feel silly and desperate. Like you're panhandling for her attention, yet you always stick that metaphorical metal cup out and ask for it anyway.
"I would like that a lot. I can pick you up after practice and we can get lunch?"
"Mm, sounds perfect." You whisper, pushing yourself up to kiss her lips softly.
When you pull away from the kiss, you stretch your whole body loudly and Leighton stares at you with a small smile on her face. She peeks over you to see Bela's bed still empty, having most likely stayed at a guys house last night. She bites her lower lip before leaning in to kiss your jawline, her hand sliding up your shirt to rake her nails against your stomach before playing with the waistband of your pants.
"Can I?" She whispers against your jawline.
You closed your eyes for a moment, giving the offer some thought, but you knew immediately it was going to be a no. Your overall feeling right now was just gross. Mentally and physically.
"Not right now, baby." You whispered, putting your hand over hers and rubbing her knuckles. "But I can definitely like- to you, if you want."
"No, that's okay." She says quietly, keeping a reassuring smile on her face. You press your lips against her cheek and then her lips.
"I'm sorry." You apologize, lacing your hand in hers and squeezing it softly.
"Don't apologize, I'm not upset." She squeezes your hand back and brings it to her lips to kiss your knuckles.
"I should probably go. I want to get out of here before Whitney is up." You say with a small laugh and Leighton smiles. She kisses you once more before pulling away with a small dramatic huff.
"I'll see you at twelve thirty then?" She asks, watching you get out of bed and strip off the clothes she lent you last night, digging through your bag to find the clothes you wore yesterday.
"I'll be waiting, but we have definitely got to stop at my room. I'm going to need to shower."
"I mean, I wasn't gonna say anything..." She says teasingly. Your face dropped and she laughed. "I'm just kidding. You don't stink. You just smell like you, but like sweaty. I like it. I don't know how to explain it, don't ask me to either." She rushes out, her cheeks turning pink with embarrassment.
"I'll let you leave this interaction unscathed...for now." You smile at her, slipping your socks on to your feet and crawling into bed, nudging your nose against hers. She connected your lips before you could, and you smile into the kiss. You pull away and kiss her one more time before pulling away and climbing off the bed. "I'll see you in a bit."
You shove your feet into your shoes and grab your bag and your phone. You shove your hand into your pockets and when you realize they're empty, your eyes widen.
You check your pockets again frantically, then your bag. Opening it and searching through it, mumbling under your breath.
"What's the matter?" Leighton asks, looking at you confused.
"Nothing, I uh, can't find something." You search the immediate area of the floor before falling to your hands and knees to give the ground a closer inspection. "Fuck." You mumble.
"What did you lose? I can help you find it." She said, about to get up.
"No, it's okay. I'm sure it's in my bag somewhere." You stand up, still searching the ground with your eyes, scratching your head. "I'll see you at twelve thirty, baby." You readjust your bag on your shoulder and leave her room, closing the door behind you.
You keep your eyes glued to the floor, searching for that small baggie of pills as you walked through the common area of their dorm room on high alert.
You heard some talking and shuffling coming from Whitney's room and she opened her door, her body still turned away because she was talking to Kimberly.
You abandoned your search. Opening and closing the door quickly and quietly and bolting from the dorm.
You made it to the field an hour before the normal scheduled practice, but right on time for the private sessions that your coach always insisted on you doing.
You changed into your clothes that you practice in, searching your bag and pockets on more time for the small baggie. You sighed in relief when you found it tucked in the corner of your bag, covered in protein bar crumbs and lint. You tucked it away safely in a smaller pocket for safe keeping's, already thinking about the fun you were going to have after practice with them.
Your coach had the field set up, a few soccer balls strewn around the field. He was nowhere in sight of course. That's how it always went. You did these sessions on your own, coach always saying that you didn't need him to tell you what to do and expecting you to just know.
The worst part was, even if he wasn't present he always knew if you tried to skip. You've tried twice and both times ended with you running around the pitch for the entire length of practice without any explanation to the other girls.
So you did your little drills and your practice shots for an extra hour every practice, already feeling practically exhausted by the time the other girls came for the actual practice.
Once the girls started filtering in, you began to slow down. They waited around patiently for the coach, talking and gossiping amongst each other.
Whitney didn't talk to you when she arrived, but she gave you a look that shot chills down your spine. You loved Whitney and thought you were always pretty good friends, but you were oftentimes always given the impression that she can see right through you and today was no different.
Coach finally arrived about twenty minutes late, which was unusual for him. He came in quietly this time, not his normal shouting, angry energy that he usually brought to the table.
"Listen up, everyone." He says politely and you all gather around him. "You will probably notice that Joanne isn't here today." He clears his throat. "There's been something rather unfortunate to happen. Joanne's younger brother, Donnie unfortunately suffered from an overdose last night and has passed away." He says with a nod and a frown. "I need you to all step up and be there for your teammate right now."
He continued talking, but it all just became muffled words to you. You wanted to think that maybe they weren't the same person, but you knew it wasn't true.
You recall having a conversation with him once about his name. That he preferred going by DJ instead of Donnie because it made him feel like he was that one kid from the Wild Thornberrys.
You zoned back in when the girls started clearing the field.
"Hey, come on. Practice is cancelled." Myra patted your shoulder to get you moving, but you felt stuck.
Whitney was walking backwards, her eyes glued to you and it just heightened that feeling you had of her seeing right through you.
You moved your feet, somehow, you got them moving. One in front of the other. You felt like you were on autopilot.
Your teammates talked quietly in the locker room, everyone wondering what happened and how. You had all the answers sitting on the tip of your tongue and you wanted to spew them off like you were giving confession in church.
All the girls talked about heading to a diner to get some breakfast together and you politely declined, saying you already had lunch plans with someone and you didn't want to be too full for those.
Which wasn't a lie at all.
Plus you had things to do beforehand. Take a shower, change your clothes. Things like that. At least, that's what you told them.
When you got back into your room, you pulled the small baggie from your gym bag, staring at it for a moment while having an internal struggle with yourself.
One of your friends just died. Probably from taking something like this specifically. But you felt like you had a better grip on yourself than he did. You weren't that addicted, not the way he was. Who knows if pills were even what he took. Liza probably introduced him to needles by then.
You had a better handle on it, you repeated to yourself while you swallowed two of them.
You didn't meet Leighton for lunch that afternoon.

Hi bb still loving the work 😁I have a request, so I was thinking of a Leighton x masc fem reader. Where reader is on the same team as Whitney and is quite muscular, reader bumps into whit at a party and introduces us to Leighton and reader flirts with Leighton, they spend the rest of the night dancing together but you can tell there is a lot of tension leading to reader taking Leighton back to their place which in tale leads to smut( I will leave the creativity to you of course) kinda at the end it can fast forward to when reader and whit next have soccer practice and Leighton is in the stands waiting for us and it’s all cute at the end ( of course also only if you’re comfy with the request 😙)
Much love 🎸
Stupid Muscle

~~~
You played for the Essex woman's soccer team, being friends with Whitney. Whom you were currently waiting for at a party. She texted you about ten minutes ago. Letting you know she was almost there, just rounding up her roommates. You chugged back your drink, leaning against the wall and observing the party as you waited. Parties weren't overly your scene. But with friends it was always easier. And kinda fun. Honestly you were grateful to your soccer team; they had your back. Even at parties. A few of them were here tonight, though they're all off doing their own things. However they didn't leave without making sure you would be okay until Whitney got there. You made sure to assure them and so here you were. Waiting for your best friend and her roommates.
It wasn't much longer before Whitney and three other girls walked over to you. Whitney smiled bright and pulled you into a hug," Y/N! Hey! I'd like you to meet my roommates. Leighton, Kimberly and Bela." She pointed to each girl as she spoke, Kimberly and Bela waved to you while Leighton kind of just looked you up and down. Raising an eyebrow.
You couldn't help but blush under her gaze, suddenly feeling incredibly small. "Uh- nice to meet all of you." You gave them an awkward nod. With Whitney now there, things got carried away pretty quickly.
About half way through your fourth drink, you went to find Leighton. Wanting to talk a lot more with her and maybe try to flirt a bit. She was hot. Unbelievably so. You almost couldn't believe that Whitney didn't try introducing you to her sooner. Maybe Leighton was straight and Whitney didn't want you getting hurt; whatever the reason, you hardly cared in your drunken state. If she was straight would still at least try. Couldn't hurt, could it?
You found Leighton by the stairs, looking rather bored and unimpressed with it all. Drinking from a cup in her hand. You sat down beside her on the steps and she glanced at you, lowering her cup from her lips.
"Hey!" You smiled at the blonde," maybe you and I could get out of here? I know some quiet spots." A smirk tugged at your lips, hinting at what you really meant. Leighton couldn't help but roll her eyes at your obvious flirting. Although, not much else was happening for her at the party. She was honestly more interested than she cared to admit. Plus, she did think you were hot. You with all your stupid muscle.
"Lead the way," Leighton raised her voice so she could be heard over the music. You took her by the hand and pulled her out of the party, walking along with Leighton through the lamp lit streets. It was well past midnight by this point, with clouds providing little light from the moon. So all you had was the street lights. Not that you minded, it added a nice glow to Leighton that you couldn't take your eyes off of.
"Where the hell are we going? You're not a secret murderer, are you?" Leighton huffed, folding her arms across her chest. It was colder than she would have liked.
You laughed and shook your head," no, no definitely not. You're too hot to kill anyways. My place isn't far from here, so I thought we could go there and.. well, warm up." You winked, seeing that Leighton must've been cold. You found yourself wishing you'd brought a jacket. Even if only to give it to her.
"Great, you're cheesy." Leighton tried to come off as annoyed, but part of her did find it cute. You were cute. Why did mascs always have to be adorable?
"Come on, you're falling behind!" You started running at a light jog, the grin never leaving your face. Leighton's eyes widened as she watched you run.
"Oh absolutely not, I refuse to run. I'm wearing fucking heels!" Leighton shouted after you, though when she saw you weren't about to stop.. she groaned and tried running after you. Keeping up with a soccer player in heels was not an easy feet. Especially while drunk. When the two of you finally made it to your apartment, Leighton glared at you. Arms folded across her chest," you better have fucking made it worth this. If you're bad at sex I'm out."
You burst out laughing as you opened the door, holding it for her as she went inside," don't worry. You'll enjoy yourself."
The two of you got comfortable in your bed, clothes stripped and blankets wrapped around yourselves. Your lips met her own in a fierce desperate kiss. Her hand came up and cupped your cheek while she straddled you. You couldn't help but moan. The feeling of her lips... her on top of you... it'd been a hot minute since you'd done this; but you were by no means out of practice.
As the kiss deepened, you flipped the positions around. Letting Leighton fall to the bed under you as you now latched yourself to her hips. Moving at a slow grind, clit against clit. The wetness seeping between your folds and down into hers. Combining with Leighton's own. A low sound escaped Leighton's throat as your hand gently cupped her neck. Applying bits of pressure to the centre. Not enough to cause pain but just enough for pleasure.
Your own moans vibrated against Leighton's lips, swallowed by her kiss as her hands explored your body. Moving along your sides and then up to cup your breasts. Massaging the skin there as the kiss broke. The both of you panting, your eyes locking onto hers as you watched her chest move up and down with each breath. You picked up your pace, moving your free hand to grip the sheets as you adjusted. Trying to move your hips in a way that allowed you to apply more pressure in your grind. Leighton gasped, head falling back onto the pillow. You yourself gasped and bit the inside of your lip. Rolling it between your teeth. God, it felt so good. You could feel your stomach twisting in knots and you could only imagine that Leighton must feel the same. With the way her eyes looked at yours, lust and desire mixing in with the blues.
It didn't take long for your knot to pull itself undone. Cumming the same time as Leighton, both of you gripping at each other's arms as you laid yourself onto her. Taking a breather. Though that wasn't where your night ended.
From that night on, the two of you would continue to meet. Even going on a couple of dates before declaring yourselves girlfriends. Leighton even came to one of your games with the rest of the roommates. There to support both you and Whitney. As you got onto the field, Leighton screamed your name the loudest you'd ever heard it.
"FUCK YEAH!! KNOCK THEM DEAD, Y/N! KICK HER IN THE FUCKING TITS!" You could hear Leighton screaming from the stands, both you and Whitney exchanged a glance as you ran past each other. Trying not to laugh. Kimberly and Bela looked absolutely startled by Leighton. Who was absolutely the most enthusiastic out of the three when it came to the game. Hell, as far as you could tell she was the most enthusiastic in the stands. You were sure your whole face was red. As embarrassing as it was, you did love it. You loved her. And you made a mental note to tell her after the game; especially if your team won.
disclaimer: yes, I am complaining about cheating in media. Because, yes, writers have the freedom to create what they want but if the morality in creation is free for all forms of media, but no piece of art is exempt from criticism, and that includes criticism on personal moral grounds. I betcha if I said Harry Potter is good, actually, everyone on here would flood my blog telling me I am wrong because of the author's intense prejudice. That being said, I am criticizing cheating in fiction, If you don't like that, don't interact
So often lately I see period dramas where the husband cheats on the wife (ex. Poldark, The Essex Serpent, Queen Charlotte, The Great)...and not only do I despise the cheating trope with every fibre of my being to where I get panic attacks when I consume the media...but specifically with period dramas...
Do these writers not understand the greater implications of a husband cheating on a wife during these periods? More than just the humiliation and heartbreak in the case of a loving, good marriage just like it is today.
In the Western world, probably until certain laws were enacted in the 1900's, if a woman married a man, she was legally his property. She had no legal identity under him. She was financially dependent on him. Any wages she made would automatically go to her husband. Her children were also not legally her children- they belonged to the father. If the husband died, even if the wife was still alive, the children were legally considered orphans.
Women could only rarely gain a divorce from their husbands. In England in the mid-1800's specifically, if a wife divorced a husband she had to prove he had to not only cheat but also be physically abusive, incestuous, or commit bestiality. On the other hand, a husband could divorce a wife just for being unfaithful. Because, kids, there were sexual double standards.
Getting married was often the endgame for a lot of women during that time. Sometimes you couldn't make your own living enough- marriage was a way to secure your entire future financially, with more than enough money to get by. If you were a spinster and middle class, you could get by with a job. But if you are an upper-class lady, the one thing a lady does not do is get a job and work. So upper-class spinsters basically were dependent on their families to get by (ex. Anne Elliott in Persuasion faces this with her own toxic family). As strange as it sounded today, marriage gave them some freedom to go about since a husband could be persuaded sometimes more easily than a father and one had a different home, their servants, etc. A husband was your foundation entirely for being a part of society, and standing up as your own woman.
So if a husband cheated on a wife, that was a threat to take all of that away.
He could give a lot of money that could be used to support his wife and children to the mistress. He could completely abandon said wife for the mistress. And since the wife legally couldn't get a job as he still lived, she would be dependent on any money he would said- and that is IF he sent over any money.
He could take her to court and publicly humiliate her to get a divorce away from her (look up the separation of Charles and Kate Dickens, he would call her mentally ill and say her cooking was bad and that she was having more children than they could keep up with all while having an affair and divorcing her to be with the misteress). And even if the wife was the nicest, more proper, goodest, more rule-abiding never-keeping-a-toe-out-of-line lady in town...as a man, the law was default on his side (look up Caroline Norton's A Letter to the Queen which details exactly that, the poor woman had her earnings as a writer taken by her husband and was denied access to her children from said husband)
So yeah...even if there was "no love" between them (and anytime the wife is portrayed as too boring or too bitchy so He HaS tO cHeAt is brought up is...pretty victim blamey)
So yeah. Period drama writers, if you have the husband have an affair ...just consider the reality of these things and address them, maybe punish the husband for once (*gasp* men facing consequences for their actions?!?!!), and if not, just please find other options and other tropes and devices for once.
