KAMALA! KHAN'S! INHUMAN! STATUS! WAS! NOT! RETCONNED!

She is (partially) an Inhuman AND a mutant. It is so so important to her identity to be multiple things at once so I'm unsurprised at this development.

Iman Vellani's depiction of the identity struggle in Ms Marvel: The New Mutant is so beautifully done that it forces the audience member to try to come to terms with their own identity. (Kamala in the show dismissing the mutation as "it's just another label" was such an easy way to show this side of her without making it a revisited plotline too - though if we ever got a season 2, I'd anticipate it getting addressed in a vague way close to the comic)

That was pretty good. It's interesting to see Nitkia like this. The fan fiction twist was fun. The conversation with Emma was okay. I didn't like Tony flirting with her. Not because a married couple can't openly flirt. It just feels weird knowing who wrote it. Regardless, this was decent. I'm curious to see where it ends up.

This cover of Ms Marvel: The New Mutant is gorgeous and contains some of my absolute favorite characters.

It was a complete shame that none of these side characters got a feature during this specific comic. Kamala has nightmares about a bunch of different superheroes (including Avengers, X-Men, Champions, etc).

It's deception. Betrayal. A catastrophe against my emotional hope.

Don't get me wrong, I still loved the comic. I just want a bonus comic that actually gives us this combination of characters teaming up.

Ms. Marvel The New Mutant #1

I've read almost every Kamala Khan story and this was def good! It was interesting. It felt like her voice. It was fun. As much as I don't like her suddenly becoming a mutant, I am intrigued. I don't get the line about how she's been a mutant for a decade. That was weird and confusing. There was also A LOT of narration. Easily could cut that in half and we wouldn't miss anything. But otherwise, it was a solid first issue. I'm excited to see where this goes. It'll take a bit to get used to the X-Men aesthetic.
