ARCHIVIST: Audio recording by Jonathan Sims, The Archivist. Statement begins.

ARCHIVIST (statement): Now, shall we turn the page and try again?

ARCHIVIST: Statement of Jonah Magnus, regarding Jonathan Sims, The Archivist.

ARCHIVIST (statement): I hope you'll forgive me the self indulgence, but I have worked so very hard for this moment, the culmination of two centuries of work.

ARCHIVIST (statement): It's rare that you get the chance to monologue through the voice of another, and you can't tell me you're not curious.

ARCHIVIST (statement): Why does a man seek to destroy the world? For immortality and power. To place yourself beyond pain and death and fear.

ARCHIVIST (statement): I have dedicated my life to handing the world to these dread powers. I am to be a king of a ruined world, and I shall never die.

ARCHIVIST (statement): Now, repeat after me.

ARCHIVIST: You who watch, and know, and understand none. You who listen and hear and will not comprehend. You who wait and wait and drink in all that is not yours by right. Come to us in your wholeness. Come to us in your perfection!

ARCHIVIST (statement): There was only one being that could possibly serve as a lynchpin for this ritual.

ARCHIVIST: Bring all that is fear, and all that is terror, and all that is the awful dread that crawls and chokes and blinds and falls and twists and leaves and hides and weaves and burns and hunts and rips and bleeds and dies! Come to us! I OPEN THE DOOR!

ARCHIVIST (statement): Because the thing about the Archivist is that... well, it's a bit of a misnomer. It might perhaps be better named The Archive. Because you do not administer and preserve the records of fear, Jon, you are a record of fear.

ARCHIVIST: It's not- You're not the one who ended the world.

MARTIN: Jon, it's not your fault.

ARCHIVIST: Can we not do this again?

MARTIN: Sorry.

ARCHIVIST: It's just- I'm mourning a world I killed.

MARTIN: I know.

ARCHIVIST: And we're all trapped in its rotting corpse.

MARTIN: Enough, Jon.

ARCHIVIST: I am an avatar of voyeuristic terror, whose unquestioned craving for knowledge has condemned the entire world to an eternity of torment, healthy isn't- it's not-

MARTIN: Fine, fine. I get it.

ARCHIVIST: Besides... grief... is healthy. If nothing else it pushes away the other feelings that that thing wants me to expirience.

MARTIN: It just... it hurts me to see you wallowing like this.

ARCHIVIST: I need time.

MARTIN: I know, but we can't stay in this cabin forever.

MARTIN: We all...

ARCHIVIST: No! We all... nothing. I'm the one who caused all of this, that's just the truth of it. I'm the one whose whole life has been nothing but one long set-up to this. I did this. It's my fault. I don't want- I can't let anyone else feel that helpless, enormous guilt. Ever.

Canon TMA facts that give me serotonin, for some reason:

Gertrude dedicated her life to avenge her cat's death.

Peter was canonically cancelled on social media because his building's layout was problematic.

A statement giver's mate fell in love with a beetle and married her.

Jonah (as Elias) once ruined Jon's surprise birthday party because he wanted to eat the cake himself.

There's a homophobic vase that swallows people's husbands.

Martin writes cringe poetry and performs on it.

Jon once said 'lol'.

The real Elias was a pothead, and his main concern with Jonah was that he'd know he was high.

Gertrude stopped the Distortion by giving it dysphoria.

Martin is an arsonist.

A random guy entered the backrooms, then left because he didn't want to be late to his mum's dinner.

Jon got his rib ripped off and decided to keep it in his stationary drawer, then forgot about it for months.

No one ever questions why there's a whole ass skeleton that belonged to a gay victorian in Elias's office.

Jon, Martin and Jonah got trapped together in Windows 95.

Imagine Gertrude comes into the archives and finds a bunch of paperwork filled out in yellow highlighter and folded into impossible shapes, and then Michael-Distortion just walks into the room door-style and sits down at his work computer so it can email Gertrude a phishing scam.
