Do you like the flowers? Yesterday I passed the greenhouse and saw them in full bloom, so I told them to send you some. I like them very much. Thank you Your Majesty.
Or "Donnie Yen looking extremely hot in any outfit".
Especially covered in shiny sweat and blood ^q^
Thick, shredded muscles look way better in the open after all.
We can recognize him only from his arms doing that little jolt when he plays piano.
"l'Internationale"? I love him a thousand more.
His bitchy sassy smile gets me everytime.💘
Ass, plump, naked or in tight leather (or latex?) pants. ^q^
Beautiful in any outfit but exceptionally, incredibly hot in white.🥵
He can fly too apparently.
He does the stabby-stabby thing to his enemies like Akira does in John Wick 4.🗡️🗡️🗡️
These lips, oh god... how must it feel to be kissed by them?🥰💋
And his eyes, sigh....🥺 so many emotions in these eyes. Like they're set ablaze and grow three sizes when he begins a fight. Like two big spheres of fire and sparkles.
It is nevertheless hilarious to think that New Huan Zhu Ge Ge, Bu Bu Jing Xin and Legend of Zhen Huan all filmed at the same time at the same place (you can see repeat locations across at least 2 of these dramas - the stairs that Ruoxi falls down is also in NHZGG).
Anyway, as a result of this:
The actress who played the Empress Dowager in Zhen Huan also played (a different) Empress Dowager in NHZGG and basically just moved between sets. There was one point where I'm sure they reused a costume piece for the 2 characters.
The actor who played Zhen Yuan Dao (Zhen Huan's father) apparently also had minor roles in both NZHGG and BBJX, which was probably just as well since he already had his head shaved.
It's amazing that Nicky Wu and Chen Jianbin are the same age playing the same emperor in Zhen Huan and BBJX and look...completely different.
The Zhen Huan set was full of women so apparently Chen Jianbin used to go over to the BBJX set to play basketball with the guys there.
Jiang Xin (Hua Fei in Zhen Huan) and Ye Zu Xin (Tenth Prince in BBJX) apparently fell in love on set?!
I realized that my recent poll not only lacked visual support but also left out a lot of my fave cdrama generals. So, in support of my Hot General Summer agenda:
Xiao Qi, Rebel Princess
Wei Wu Ji, Sound of the Desert
Ling Buyi, Love Like the Galaxy
Zhousheng Chen, One and Only
Zhao Yun, God of War Zhao Yun
Sima Yi, Secret of Three Kingdoms
Han De Rang, The Legend of Xiao Chuo
Zhan Beiye, Legend of Fuyao
Gao Chang Gong, Lan Ling Wang
Xiang Yu, Story of Han Dynasty
Cao Pi, The Advisors’ Alliance
Meng Tiang Fang, Ancient Terracotta War Situation
Chu Bei Jie, General and I
Zhu Zan, Jin Jiu Ling
Wolfie, The Wolf
Xiang Yu, Legend of Chu and Han
Cheng Yi, The Promise of Chang’an
Liu Xiu, Singing All Along
Huo Xin, Painted Skin the Resurrection
Meng Qi You, Glamorous Imperial Concubine
Yang Bros, The Young Warriors
Weng Gui, Princess Jieyou
Xiao Ping Zhang, Nirvana in Fire 2
Pei Zhao, Maiden Holmes
Ji Ye, Novoland Eagle Flag
Zhu Qi Zhen, Imperial Doctress (it’s a reach he’s an emperor. But he leads his force in battle and I wanted Wallace Huo there so...)
After I learned about Kung Fu Panda's newest character Zhen, I got the idea to do a crossover collage on Awkwafina's (Nora Lum) voice acting roles. At first I wanted to focus on Sisu and Zhen alone, but when I decided to add in Ms. Tarantula as well it was only fair to include genderbend Scuttle from the 2023 remake of The Little Mermaid.
The background wallpaper of the collage was a textless poster of Awkwafina as Chen "Katy" Ruiwen, from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Me seeing my moots watching Legend of Zhen Huan/empresses in the palace:
But as I was telling @mercipourleslivres and @silviakundera, one of my favorite fun fact about Zhen Huan is that the director got some flack for casting at the start, because people didn’t think Chen Jia Bing was attractive enough even though he’s considered to be an excellent actor. Bc at the time, Jade Heart Lock Palace and BBJX just aired. And the director’s rebuttal more or less was “that’s the point. Nowadays there’s too many attractive princes in historicals. This is what a 40 year old emperor is supposed to look like.”
It’s the opposite of the discourse on casting of lan ling wang the same year, aka that Feng Shao Feng wasn’t attractive enough to play the IRL Prince which by historical accounts was so attractive he had to wear a mask in battle.
ohhh would love to hear the actors that came to mind with that “they got that dog in them” post
so, like, this is in terms of their performance and it asked specifically about if it caught me off guard.
bill hader -- did not know bill hader could do this.
i had never seen sarah goldberg in anything before barry but
same with julia garner, when i saw her as ruth on ozark i was like oh ok ok, i see you.
dominqiue fishback
i was contemplating if i was going to put zendaya on this especially because outside of euphoria, which i've spoken about, her areas for improvement are clearer, and even in certain parts of season 2, which only makes sense because you can always improve, but i'm going to put her on because she and the soundtrack is what got me through both seasons and i had the same reaction in season one that i did with julia
bryan cranston
there was someone else but i forgot. if it's going to be a character, it's going to be something like chen zhen in fist of legend
I haven't gone through my drama screenshots for a long time (truthfully, I haven't been taking many), so I'm dumping a selection here, along with the list of Asian dramas and movies that I watched in 2022. I did not realize how much I had consumed. Most of these are from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, but an occasional Japanese or Korean production sneaks in. Mind you, I also watch a bunch of non-Asian dramas and movies as well. My watch list is SO LONG.

2023 is already off to a strong start, so I expect to have a similar list next year!
Your Majesty put this pair of jade bracelets on my wrists yourself when I first entered the prince's manor. We were hoping that like those bracelets, we would see each other day and night. But now Your Majesty believes that I've done wrong, and perhaps doesn't wish to see me again. At that time, with these bracelets at hand, Your Majesty told me, that if I gave birth to a prince, the position of Fujin would be mine.
Who are known as the best stylists in cdramas? Who are some costume designer/stylists that have caught your attention?
There isn't so much styling directors/costume designers who are considered "good", as much as consistent or well known (because they've had very prominent works, but doesn't mean all their work has been well received). Huang Wei is probably seen as one of the more consistent ones (though she's gotten some criticism recently for similar costumes across the dramas she's done). Fang Sizhe (costume) and Zhang Shuping (hair/makeup) are very well known names, but not necessarily always considered good (they did do Rise of Phoenixes, which won a lot of praise for costumes). Other well known names include Shirley Chan (陈顾方), Chen Tongxun (陈同勋), Yee Chung-man (奚仲文), Song Xiaotao, Ru Meiqi.
(Mentioning just the historical works)
Huang Wei: Shen Yin, My Journey to You (reported), Wu Geng Ji, A Dream of Splendor, Till the End of the Moon, Back From the Brink, The Legend of Xiao Chuo, Immortality, One and Only, Ever Night, Tribes and Empires, THe Longest Day In Chang’an. She also worked on Journey of Flower with JoyBell Chan (陈乐勤).
Fang Sizhe: Immortal Samsara (costume designer, Shirley Chan was styling director), A Journey to Love, Rise of Phoenixes (costume), Mysterious Lotus Casebook (costume, Shirely Can styling director),, Who Rules the World, Story of Kunning Palace, Stand By Me (costumes), Love and Redemption (costumes), Novoland Pearl Eclipse (with Shirley Chan), Eternal Faith, Bu Bu Jing Xin
Zhang Shuping: Eternal Love of Dream, Love and Destiny, The Rebel Princess (one of the costume designers), Ruyi’s Royal Love In the Palace, War of Flowers, Lost Love In Times, Ming Dynasty
Shirley Chan: In addition to the ones mentioned above, she also worked on Bu Bu Jing Xin, Chinese Paladin 1 & 3, Love and Redemption, Under the Power, Nobel Aspirations, Swords of Legends, Listening Snow Tower
Yee Chung-man: Best known for Curse of the Golden Flower, also did Novoland: Eagle Flag and The Golden Hairpin
Chen Tongxun: Best known for Legend of the Demon Cat, also did Legend of Zhen Huan (Empresses In the Palace), The Emperor’s Love, The Legend of Shen Li, Legend of Dugu, Joy of Life, The Untamed, The Wolf,, The Blue Whisper, The Sword and Brocade
Song Xiaotao: Chinese Paladin 1 & 3, Imperial Doctress, Untouchable Lovers (costume, not hair), Wu Xin: The Monster Killer, Palace, Winter Begonia, Story of Yanxi Palace, Legend of Haolan, The Ingenious One, Royal Feast
Ru Meiqi: Nirvana In Fire, Jin Yong’s Wuxia Universe, White Cat Legend, Thousand Years of Love
JoyBell Chan: Eternal Love of Dream, The Romance of Tiger and Rose
For newer names, Xi Jingkai and Tan Limin are the Goodbye My Princess costume designers and won some love there, though haven't had anything prominent since. Yi Xiaoya did Love Between Fairy and Devil and got some attention for that. Han Guangren got some attention with Word of Honor and recently did The Blood of Youth. I liked Li Yuling’s work with Serenade of Peaceful Joy. I also liked The Glory of Tang Dynasty team (Hou Yunyi and Guan Yue).
