Kodaka’s new game is titled “Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy” / “ハンドレッドライン最終防衛学園”. Look real good and hard at the bolded word.

It’s the kanji used in Shuichi’s name. 最終 means final or last and Shuichi was named after this word, with his name being 最原 終一.

最終 = Saishuu and 最原 終一 = Saihara Shuuichi

“But tumblr user genoskissors, using the same word that was used for a character’s name in a new game doesn’t mean they are connected!”

Saishuu isn’t just what decided Shuichi’s name. It’s also the name of the academy they attend.

While spelt different, 才囚 and 最終 are pronounced the same. It’s a play on words.

Basically what I am saying is in Danganronpa V3, the academy was named “Talented Prisoner Academy” but holds a double meaning as “Last Academy”. This new game is titled “Last [Defense] Academy”.

with the sheer amount of content that's apparently in The Hundred Line according to Kodaka, it seems that quite literally everyone's playthrus will be different the first go-around. he compares it to an Open World Game here.
