The Gold Rush (1925) - Charlie Chaplin.
The characters in The Gold Rush, in addition to their names, are also defined by general descriptions that assign them to a specific type. So there are: the Tramp, the Gold Digger, the Criminal, and the Pick-Up Man – characters that fit into the allegorical poetics. Georgia's image is drawn exceptionally against this background – she does not receive any superior assignment, which is of great importance for the film. Georgia is unique, one of a kind – Chaplin seems to be saying. Additionally, each appearance of the character in the film is preceded by a decorative inscription with a floral motif in the background. This approach emphasizes the director's tender and intimate relationship with this character. It is love, not the acquisition of fortune, that is the most important value for the Tramp.
