#The Fairy Swap AU

@matmiraculous and I were talking about Fairly Odd Parents: A New Wish here recently and I accidentally stumbled across an AU/Fic idea that I may or may not do something with.

So here's a summary!

(Spoilers for the show ahead)

The background behind the idea is that Mat and I were talking about how Peri was not the right fairy for Dev (though I'm sure the writers have plans) given how he only just became a Godparent. We also talked about how Dev really needs someone more experienced and who will have the knowledge to help him.

So what if Wanda&Cosmo and Peri swapped kids?

Wanda and Cosmo never move the human world and therefore don't met Hazel. Peri is assigned to Hazel because Jorgen figures she would be an easy first kid for him.

Peri and Hazel have a pretty good relationship and Peri ends up being something of an older sibling and friend to her. Which is something she needs when missing her older brother. Their adventures are a mix of the same ones in cannon and ones that are completely different.

The two are just having fun together and going on little adventures. Peri also helps her a lot with adjusting to being in a new place and missing her older brother (both things he has experience with). At the same time Hazel also (a bit unknowingly) helps Peri figure out what kind of Godparent he wants to be.

A few weeks later Jorgen convinces (aka begs) Wanda and Cosmo to come out retirement and be Dev's fairy godparents after the last fairy assigned to him quit.

Dev tries to treat Wanda and Cosmo the same way he treats Peri in cannon but the two won't stand for it. They grant his wishes (as they're suppose too) but they (especially Wanda) won't let him insult or order them around.

That's not to say they are mean to Dev, they just take on a more firm and well... Parent-like approach to him. Wanda and Cosmo notice that Dev has never had much of a parental figure in his life like Timmy and are like "if his father isn't going to teach him to be a decent person, we'll do it!" Anyways, that's what's rolling around in my brain. I might write it, I might now (I got a lot of fics right now) but I think it would be fun to write little scenes or ramble about ideas I got.

I'm calling it The Fairy Swap AU

I always imagined Kabalè' look pretty colourful as an angel! A bit crazy I guess, but this is also part of her character! I like the outfit, especially her tights! X"D

Thinking about Sans Aus as fairytales. Current obsession is Nightmare and the Star Sanses, Three Little Pigs style plotline.

Nightmare is the wolf, but I really think the Star Sanses could each be any of the three pigs, respectively - depending on what personality they are given by the person telling the tale.

For examples:

Ink;

Ink as Straw pig: An agent of chaos. Just throws caution to the wind and is more interested in seeing how things can play out.

Ink as Stick pig: More cautious with a stronger sense of self-preservation. Still curious and perhaps a little interested in seeing things go to hell.

Ink as Brick pig: No interest in letting a risk slip through for entertainment. Takes his role as the protector very seriously and puts the safety of himself and his friends above all else.

Swap;

Swap as Straw pig: Naïve and trusting. Oblivious to the danger that his blind sense of trust can bring.

Swap as Straw pig: Usually on guard, but tries his best to see the good in people, even if they are only showing him the bad.

Swap as Brick pig: Protective and cautious. Understands the dangers of being too trusting, but also understands when to let someone in.

Dream;

Dream as Straw pig: Still sees Nightmare as the brother he once had. Will do anything to get that brother back, even if it means putting himself in danger.

Dream as Stick pig: Hopeful that Nightmare will come around one day, but aware that day may never come. He protects himself but takes chances to try and reach out, even if he fails over and over.

Dream as Brick pig: Knows his brother is never coming back. May or may not have accepted that fact, but knows that he needs to distance himself from the idea that whatever Nightmare is now, he is not to be trusted.

My personal favourites are Straw Ink, Stick Dream, and Brick Blue, but any combination works really. Anyway, thanks for reading my ramble.

I had… a weird thought the other day, which was “Oh in Winx there are two main fairies from Earth and they have like complete opposite roles, what if they switched places” so here’s Bloom as a teenager who finds out she’s a fairy and Roxy as an adult who will have to train her. Also featuring Selina, who I remembered existed AFTER I started drawing, she’s there too but if she’s a fairy or not is a mystery in this AU.

Featuring aroace Roxy, service-dog-in-training Artu, and slight redesigns for all three of them. Selina and Bloom share star decals (I thought it was cute) but Selina is already starting to take on design traits from her older form.

This AU would take place in 2009, the same time the OG Season 4 came out, which is why Roxy’s got a flip phone.

Fairy Tail AUs

I did a couple of these for Transformers a while back and I figured it might be fun to do again.

Slayer Swap AU - In which the various dragon, god, and devil slayers follow slightly different paths in life and end up in each others guilds.

Dragon Swap AU - In which the Dragon Slayers are raised by each others dragons instead of their own, leading to five much different people in the present day.

Changeling AU - In which everything doesn't go back to normal after the titular body swapping episode, forcing everyone to focus up and train and get used to their new bodies as best as they can. Whether they're strong enough to endure Phantom's attack remains to be seen.

Renegade Guild AU - In which Fairy Tail is forcibly disbanded alongside Phantom Lord in the aftermath of their battle. Never one to bow to the council's wishes, Fairy Tail reforms as the newest dark guild. Luckily for the council, the illegal guild has decided to take its frustrations out on the other dark guilds instead of striking back.

Phantom Lucy AU - In which Lucy chooses to join Phantom Lord instead of Fairy Tail. Unfortunately, she quickly finds that it isn't what she had hoped it to be, especially once Jude comes knocking...

Erza in Edolas AU - In which Anima targets the Tower of Heaven while it's exploding, bringing both it and Erza to Edolas. Now, trapped in this strange new world without her magic or friends, Erza searches for a way home as she fights against the royal army alongside Lisanna and a distrusting Fairy Tail.

Despite my better judgment I am drafting a fic for my Fairy Swap AU. So here are some out of context quotes.

“It’s a gift basket from the neighbors.”

“Yes” Angela pulled out a can of condensed milk “they’re fairly… Odd. But they seem nice.”

“Ah!” He yelled dramatically, falling to the floor “it seems the captain is going down with his ship.”

“Cookie is my most efficient fairy,” Jogen said.

Peri muttered under his breath “only because Mom and Dad retired.”

“If it’s your dancing abilities you’re worried about I can teach you a few things” Peri offered. 

“You know how to dance?”

“Yup!” He grinned “my dad taught me.”

When Peri had been toddler his sleep ​​paralysis and nightmares were often haunted by an evil babysitter character named Vicky. He was careful not to mention this to Hazel, doubting it would help. Plus, Vicky wasn’t real so mentioning her wasn’t really relevant to the conversation.

He looked down at himself, it was the same outfit he always wore. “What's wrong with my clothes?”

“Nothing” she said “but it doesn’t really scream ‘human babysitter’ more like ‘weird actor’ instead.”

Did Cosmo and Wanda have a fairy Timmy back in the day? I hadn't watched A New Wish yet but iirc their relationship was strained by Timmy, I think because of the whole "no one aged for 50 years" thing in Timmy's Secret Wish. So would that mean Timmy messed up their marriage?

Yep! Timmy was Cosmo and Wanda's first fairy!

Cosmo and Wanda were newly weds with no support systems thus miserable enough to get their own fairy!

For the first few years, the three of them were perfect but Timmy overstayed his welcome, none of them wanting to lose this new family they created. Timmy used his magic to try and force a magic solution to make Cosmo and Wanda happy again, to varying levels of success.

New fairy management notices that Cosmo and Wanda seem to be getting more miserable despite having Timmy, so they get assigned a new fairy:

Chloe is here to fix all of Timmy's mistakes. But their happy little family isn't going to be separated so instead of being replaced, Timmy and Chloe end up as coworkers.

But even with two fairies, Cosmo and Wanda keep getting more miserable. With a fresh new set of eyes and someone to talk to, Timmy finally admits that the Fairywinkle-Cosmas might be better off without him since most of their conflict does seem to revolve around magic. So both Chloe and Timmy resign, erasing Cosmo's, Wanda's, Poof's Peri's and Sparky's memories of magic.

That day, the Fairywinkle-Cosma's pet goldfish, the one they got when they got their first house, dies. The whole family is very torn up about it, crying even though they don't know why they feel so strongly about losing this goldfish.

As for the whole 50 year time loop thing:

After granting that accidental wish, Timmy does not come clean about it for 50 years in fear of getting into trouble. A swap version of Timmy's Secret Wish does happen and undoes the time loop but yep, that wish absolutely contributed in the decline of their marriage. Not that Cosmo and Wanda would remember it anyways

I made a second flavor swapped Cookie thing, this time with seamoon

I again just needed something to draw. I was originally planning to draw berry flavored Dark Cacao, possibly with Dark Choco, but I couldn’t figure out what to draw them doing. I mean I could have just done head drawings, but the first one had an actual pose/scene going on, and so I wanted there to be an actual pose. Then I started thinking about maybe drawing a swap seamoon kiss

I was trying to figure out what other Legendaries I could swap them out with, and I thought of Fire Spirit and Wind Archer (or more accurately, their elements), and I was wondering if that might have some Icarus elements to it, and I got excited with that and other potential ideas and went for it

I was thinking of fire for Moonlight with the idea that the Wizards was using fire as their basis of research rather than the night sky. I haven’t entirely figured out whether Moonlight would be representative of the sun (would work for the Icarus idea), or if she was born out of the core of a volcano. I’m leaning more towards the latter though. As for Sea Fairy, I thought that the sky would be a suitable substitute for the sea, as they’re both large parts of the world and have various creatures associated with them. And again, possible association with fire/the sun. And possibly also because firewind

I definitely took more liberties with their designs than I did last time. It was likely in part because I was more focused on the elements than the specific characters these swaps were based on. Sea Fairy was more a mix of Wind Archer and Sugar Swan, with the design being more Sugar Swan and the colors more Wind Archer. I may be a known griper of Sugar Swan Cookie’s design, but she does have a deity look to her

The first thing I thought to do with Moonlight was to have her hair floating upwards, since she’s made of fire, and also it’d look good for the drawing. I didn’t draw her hat because I originally had forgotten about it, and then I thought that the hat would interfere with the hair. I did keep the bottom part though, and I guess it’s like some sort of tiara now. I think it looks good. I also added a cape because Fire Spirit has one, with it taking the place of her bottom half frills

I’ll be honest, some of these changes were just because I didn’t want to draw certain parts of the character, like Sea Fairy’s coral and such. I don’t think it looks too bad though

Yeah I guess I might make this a series then? I just make flavor swapped Cookies doing stuff? It’s not that bad a concept, and maybe it frees up my creative space from the perpetual fankid struggles. Also it could be better practice for posing and drawing characters together. I just have to be careful when swapping some Cookies though

(By the way I still want to draw berry Dark Cacao, but I still don’t know what to draw him doing, so you know. If you have ideas. Dark Choco can be in there too)
