#The Fairy Swap AU

@matmiraculous and I were talking about Fairly Odd Parents: A New Wish here recently and I accidentally stumbled across an AU/Fic idea that I may or may not do something with.

So here's a summary!

(Spoilers for the show ahead)

The background behind the idea is that Mat and I were talking about how Peri was not the right fairy for Dev (though I'm sure the writers have plans) given how he only just became a Godparent. We also talked about how Dev really needs someone more experienced and who will have the knowledge to help him.

So what if Wanda&Cosmo and Peri swapped kids?

Wanda and Cosmo never move the human world and therefore don't met Hazel. Peri is assigned to Hazel because Jorgen figures she would be an easy first kid for him.

Peri and Hazel have a pretty good relationship and Peri ends up being something of an older sibling and friend to her. Which is something she needs when missing her older brother. Their adventures are a mix of the same ones in cannon and ones that are completely different.

The two are just having fun together and going on little adventures. Peri also helps her a lot with adjusting to being in a new place and missing her older brother (both things he has experience with). At the same time Hazel also (a bit unknowingly) helps Peri figure out what kind of Godparent he wants to be.

A few weeks later Jorgen convinces (aka begs) Wanda and Cosmo to come out retirement and be Dev's fairy godparents after the last fairy assigned to him quit.

Dev tries to treat Wanda and Cosmo the same way he treats Peri in cannon but the two won't stand for it. They grant his wishes (as they're suppose too) but they (especially Wanda) won't let him insult or order them around.

That's not to say they are mean to Dev, they just take on a more firm and well... Parent-like approach to him. Wanda and Cosmo notice that Dev has never had much of a parental figure in his life like Timmy and are like "if his father isn't going to teach him to be a decent person, we'll do it!" Anyways, that's what's rolling around in my brain. I might write it, I might now (I got a lot of fics right now) but I think it would be fun to write little scenes or ramble about ideas I got.

I'm calling it The Fairy Swap AU

I kinda interested to see Swap!Irep, Swap!A-C (anit-Cosmo) and Swap!A-W (Anit-Wanda) would look like this in AU!

Ive actually mentioned Swap!Irep/with a name change to Winkle cause Im so clever/ in one of my prev doodles!

Swap! AC and AW are here named Anco and Anda (the names we`re brought to us by @kindergartenlol ), and ofc they are Hazels godparents, but for one day it wasnt them tho-

The Anti-couple was yeeted at the end of the day right to their son`s doorstep in Anti-Fairy world

Did Cosmo and Wanda have a fairy Timmy back in the day? I hadn't watched A New Wish yet but iirc their relationship was strained by Timmy, I think because of the whole "no one aged for 50 years" thing in Timmy's Secret Wish. So would that mean Timmy messed up their marriage?

Yep! Timmy was Cosmo and Wanda's first fairy!

Cosmo and Wanda were newly weds with no support systems thus miserable enough to get their own fairy!

For the first few years, the three of them were perfect but Timmy overstayed his welcome, none of them wanting to lose this new family they created. Timmy used his magic to try and force a magic solution to make Cosmo and Wanda happy again, to varying levels of success.

New fairy management notices that Cosmo and Wanda seem to be getting more miserable despite having Timmy, so they get assigned a new fairy:

Chloe is here to fix all of Timmy's mistakes. But their happy little family isn't going to be separated so instead of being replaced, Timmy and Chloe end up as coworkers.

But even with two fairies, Cosmo and Wanda keep getting more miserable. With a fresh new set of eyes and someone to talk to, Timmy finally admits that the Fairywinkle-Cosmas might be better off without him since most of their conflict does seem to revolve around magic. So both Chloe and Timmy resign, erasing Cosmo's, Wanda's, Poof's Peri's and Sparky's memories of magic.

That day, the Fairywinkle-Cosma's pet goldfish, the one they got when they got their first house, dies. The whole family is very torn up about it, crying even though they don't know why they feel so strongly about losing this goldfish.

As for the whole 50 year time loop thing:

After granting that accidental wish, Timmy does not come clean about it for 50 years in fear of getting into trouble. A swap version of Timmy's Secret Wish does happen and undoes the time loop but yep, that wish absolutely contributed in the decline of their marriage. Not that Cosmo and Wanda would remember it anyways

In your swap au is timmy is a father with twins tammy and tommy? If so how do the antis feel about it? Do they try and corrupt them?

As i stated previously: yea, twins exist here! But theyre not too miserable right now, so its kinda not the time for them to get anyone as their godparents

But they have a weird retired couple next-door that looks like they`re not getting enough sunlight .

These two ocasionally help twins with their mischevious plans and cover them so parents wont find out abt anything....And they`re often giving Tammy and Tommy weird-looking snacks ( they taste nice tho despite looking hella gross)

Couple sometimes mention their son that they havent seen in a while, they re both sad that he didn`t met twins yet cause of no-contact

What's fairy!Timmy's dynamic like with his god-relations (as whoever is Cosmo and Wanda's current godchild would be a god-sibling while whoever Peri's been assigned would be a fairy nibling)? And how much of a difference would there be between "fairy!Timmy with canon Hazel and Dev" and "fairy!Timmy with Fairy Swap AU Hazel and Dev"?

Given how I don't currently have a Fairy!Timmy AU I am going to assume you are asking the hypothetical sense. So sure, we can talk about it.

Cannon Timeline:

I actually have a couple of ideas for how Timmy would meet Hazel and I think over all they get along decently well. They don't spend a lot of time together mostly because Timmy is busy with work but he think she's a cool kid and is glad his parents have a less chaotic kid this time around.

Timmy only hears about Dev second hand from Peri until Battle For The Big Wand and doesn't really have an opinion of him. While he's worried about Dev he's choosing to trust that his brother is trying his best.

Fairy Swap AU:

Timmy hears all about Hazel from his baby bro and he's happy that Peri seems to have such a great kid. When he and Hazel finally met he keeps making jokes about being a God-Uncle and showing her Peri’s baby pictures.

He's pretty worried about Dev but is glad that his parents were assigned to his case. Timmy knows that if anyone will be able to help Dev it will be them.

OMG IS THAT A MANDATORY SWAP AU???

Genuinely surprised that I haven’t seen anyone do it before. If you are confused, this is basically what if fairies where people and people are fairies.

I figured that the main reason this hasn’t been done before is because the whole point of godparents is to help miserable kids. So making kids the godparents and adults their godkids doesn’t make much sense. But in my interpretation of this au, fairies are send to adults who have been so consumed by adulthood, they forgotten how to enjoy life like when they used to when they where kids. Peter Pan/Little Prince kinda vibes

Also fairly oddparents style is though. But I tried so I at the very least can get participation trophie
