Life isn't fair...is it?

As the evening went smoothly following all of this. The others had a clear warning from Firebrand's great yelling. Oddly, Illumina felt confident enough to approach the others. The conversation with Ghostwalker was uneasy. Getting to meet his nephews was interesting, and Windforce was a great talk. Together, they comprised. Clearly since Firebrand pushed her but its still a way to bond nonetheless.

As Illumina turned to grab a drink from the table, a familiar but terrified face materialized….Darkheart;

“Lumi! So good to see you once more, beloved brother!

"...Darkheart..,"

"We just got the most fantastic idea! We reasoned we ought to make up! Put everything behind us!”

The smile of Darkheart grew to be quite terrifying. Illumina found himself shocked. His fluffed feathers in what he could only describe as utter delight! Oh he has long yearned for this!

"Really?"

His feathered tail wags and his eyes go bright. Though his body language suggested enthusiasm, Illumina lacked a smile.

"Even our dear friend Venomshank wants too! He is waiting in the courtyard should you like to join us. Little intoxicated, he still has right thinking!"

Though to the God of Purpose it was true, Darkheart seemed rather happy and...sweet. It was practically unsettling. Luminina...He had no idea he was succumbing to the biggest scheme Darkheart had ever developed.

"Yes! Wouldst love that more than anything!”

Two hurried went to the courtyard outside. Leaving Windforce and Firebrand to mingle among themselves. Not one other person observed except Ghostwalker. Still not interested, he chose to leave the dinner early. Darkheart was followed mindlessly by Illumina. The courtyard was dark; the path lights barely illuminated it. Illumina also liked the insects and flowers overtaking the space. It was always his favorite place in the main temple…

Once Illumina looked up Darkheart was gone. A few times he peered about calling Darkheart's name, then heard a snarl. Illumina sprang and quickly turned to face the sound. Venomshank on all fours…feral without his mask. Oh dear; he was beginning to lose it. He was reminded of his experience 200 years ago. Venomshank was ruthless when feral...No; it was not his fault. Still, it was terrifying nonetheless.

"Oh dear brother, did you really think we would let you return this way?"

Darkheart's voice resounded across Illumina as though from a chasm. He stayed fixed on the coming wild Venomshank. The wild deity lunged and golden blood splashed against the pavement…

"Life isn’t fair, is it?”

So lowkey I forgot to go on here to submit my SFOTH spawnday hcs so I’ll do that now (pls note they’re based on my AU of them)

Most of the SFOTH deities besides Ghostwalker and Icedagger have/had children, so I’ll give a list and how many they had

Firebrand: 1 (named Crimson Periastron)

Windforce: 2 (Banhammer and Grimgold Periastron [Elder Sister])

Venomshank: 2 (Sword and Chartreuse Periastron [Elder Brother])

Darkheart: 4 (Rocket [From when he got with Zuka], Trident, Azure Periastron, and Noir Periastron [Trident is 37, Azure is 102, Noir is 200+])

Illumina: 1 (Ivory Periastron [technically a few months old, died young due to complications])

Though Crimson is the oldest of the cousins, Illumina was actually the first to have a child.

The SFOTH deities were originally from another realm, but were banished to the Inpherno after killing their creator

Windforce may or may not have a third child

Illumina is ashamed for losing his baby so he never had another. Ivory would’ve been 300+ years old if she was still alive.

I do have pairings for some of the deities but I’ll go over them another time.

Icedagger hides away in the Blackrock mountains. He doesn’t like his siblings very much besides for Illumina and Firebrand.

Trident, Azure, and Noir feel like Darkheart doesn’t take them seriously. Rocket doesn’t really consider him a father figure.

Darkheart’s bio children don’t like him very much.

The reason that Firebrand went AWOL is to find Crimson, who went missing after Valk and Dom’s 14th birthday.

Windforce is still a good mother to Grimgold and Banhammer, though Banhammer’s relationship with his sister is a bit strained. It wasn’t their fault though.

Chartreuse doesn’t know much about Sword, but he loves his brother anyway. Sword is a bit uncomfortable around him due to his intimidating appearance, but gets used to it later.

Amongst all the SFOTH deities, Venomshank is the most well-adjusted to current society and actually got his mental health in check. The same can’t be said for his siblings, especially Darkheart and Windforce.

Illumina *hates* attending family dinners, especially if Darkheart’s there.

Darkheart and Illumina used to be close, but Illumina began to resent the other after a particular incident before they were banished.

Darkheart’s trickster and insensitive personality is a facade. He’s actually quite anxious most of the time.

Windforce does not like men.

Firebrand is apprehensive about romance.

Venomshank adores his wife.

Ghostwalker is the family healer (aka the ONLY one who can heal). He’s also a bit of a bum.

He finds Medkit intriguing.

Rocket may technically be Darkheart’s son, but Darkheart and Zuka aren’t dating anymore. No, they didn’t do the dance. That doesn’t exist in the Inpherno.

If Illumina had the chance, he would revive his daughter so he wouldn’t make the same mistake he did before and actually take care of her.

Icedagger kind of wants to destroy Blackrock, but holds himself back since the SFOTH deities aren’t allowed to meddle with mortal affairs. There’s some loopholes, but they aren’t allowed to wipe entire factions off the map.

He is also very bitter.

Firebrand raised all of his siblings to have each other’s backs. If he were to see how they treat each other now, he’d be very disappointed in them. They don’t like Firebrand being upset with them.

Illumina disguises himself as a mortal inphernal so he could try doing mundane things like eating mortal food or going shopping. He even bought a house and is going to therapy. Firebrand would be proud of him for that.

Venomshank’s wife is from another realm. She’s also blind.

Windforce may or may not like a woman from the mortal/human realm. Hint: she’s purple and has a weirdly tall hat.

Windforce also killed her ex-husband for… reasons.

On an unrelated note, this last hc is gonna be about Scythe.

After finding out something she wasn’t supposed to, Scythe was betrayed and killed by the cult, only to be revived by a god from another realm. That god gave her powers, but those powers came with craaazy drawbacks. No, I won’t elaborate. Also she has an adoptive daughter.

Firebrand: The king himself and The God of Flames is the gentlest and mostly the gullible type. Although of someone he doesn't know demands something, then he's smart about it. If jts Dom and Valk, he will spoil those two till they can't see their knees in objects of affection!

To the other Swords he's the older brother and also the one to go too if you want a very warm hug :3 [closest to Windforce, Icedagger and Illumina]

Windforce: Windforce, The God of Stroms loves destruction and loves causing chaos for fun. She somtimes does this with Darkheart to add to it, but their plans always fail thanks to Firebrand. Windforce is a good mother but a good role model? No. [Closest to Firebrand and Darkheart]

Illumina: rumors fly with the Deity of Purity. People say he is ruthless and unforgiving when, in reality, he just wants silence. If he finds you annoying, he will be rude and tell the truth. Although when popple makes him out to be the bad guy, it lowers his self-esteem a little. Illumina just yearns to be beautiful again.

Ghostwalker: The God of Death is actually quite shy but charming and formal. He's a huge bookworm and prefers to spend his tike with Ghosts than the alive. He is very introverted in nature and loves to bake things for the other SFOTH for the family dinners.

Venomshank: oh the amount of stuff I could talk about for The God of The Undead, but I'll keep it brief. Venomshank is the parental figure and wants to help where he can but he is also very warey of trusting himself around the other SFOTH with the fact he cam go feral at random or if his emotions get too much. Darkheart usually keeps him in check while he keeps the other in check. Basically making sure the other doesn't cause destruction wherever they go

Darkheart: should I say more about how much I love this guy? The God of Mischeif and Chaos is known for his pranks and very playful personality. He loves playing pranks om his fellow brothers and sister, especially Illumina. Although when things get sticky he can always rely on Venomshank to hide behind.

Icedagger: The God of Snow is the cutest little bugger you have ever come across. Although he is very introverted and shy so it's hard to find the little guy. With the mentality of a 10 year old and the heart of a...uh I wouldn't say fighter more like a- teddy bear.

ok anyways, my swords have very complicated relationships, so heres how they kinda see each other!!

firebrand- older brother to illumina & windforce, maybe to venomshank a little? to everyone else hes just the leader (& darkheart holds a serious grudge against him btw)

windforce- sister to illumina & firebrand, & she scares the shit out of everyone (except illumina). so shes like that scary person in a position of authority you never question out of fear

illumina- sister to firebrand & windforce, co worker to ghostwalker, & sworn enemy to darkheart (obviously). shes like- firebrand is the 'leader' but shes the ACTUAL one in charge & everyone knows it. shes scary

she basically doesnt really like anyone & shes SO FUCKING PETTY. she also HATES LOATHES DESPISES DARKHEART she has an AM hate speech everytime someone sets her off about it

ghostwalker- everyone kinda sees him as like that guy thats like family & always there but hes not family. icedagger & him were really close but they're so so anymore because of [REDACTED], so thats that. darkheart also doesnt like him

also notable mention hes neutral towards literally everyone. he does not care. windup doll ahh

venomshank- brother to darkheart, responsible parental adult to everyone else. hes just kinda there, hes ignored a fair bit because of the incident & because he's loudly voiced his opinion & all. illumina fucking hates him for it

darkheart- annoying whiny bitchy sibling to basically everyone, everyone has just collectively decided to treat them like shit because they're 'whiny'. venomshank is really the only one who doesnt see them that way

icedagger- that one cousin. they're like...a child, but they're not exactly treated like one. they're treated like an adult but also people keep in mind hes mentally younger & all

The deity was at the front doors of the main temple. His anxiety was leaking through his body. He was shaking...he felt like he was going to melt in front of everyone- no. He can't let that happen.

He knew he couldn't...he opened the doors after taking a deep breath. The light blinded him for a second and once he adjusted...all eyes were on him...

Ghostwalker was indeed in a corner, on a chair…reading a book. His tail was curled with anxiety and he seemed to have trouble focusing on the book.

Darkheart ripped out more flesh from the fish. The scales falling to the floor….those teeth must be extremely sharp…Venomshank seemed more calm than the other. He was holding a glass he couldn’t drink due to his mask.

“Heh- only being myself! Also I got some assorted fruit and vegetables! Illumina is a vegetarian and he can’t handle meat! So I’m grabbing the good stuff!”

He chuckles, grasping the plate. His tail is wagging until the last sentence..ah

“Ah yes..tension is high…no one just sees Illumina come out of the blue…he’s stuck in that temple all the time…last time I saw him he was in bad shape…torn robes, unkept hair..no glow in his eyes..but it seems like somthing snapped him out of it! I’m so happy I could cry! Although I don’t wanna ruin the flooring with my molten tears heh..”

He’s changed last time I saw him! Almost back to his normal self! I’m just picking out the food he likes to bring over to him in a bit! How are you Dear? Firebrand is over by the food table shuffling through the food. He seems excited unlike the rest who are tense. He seems to be picking out certain foods….

River of Stars [Story Post]

The Golden Room was a breathtakingly beautiful space. Featuring gold sculptures and the finest flowers and plants. Hidden beneath the plants and flowers were shredded paintings depicting the God of Purity in his former appearance. In the center of the area sat a small but attractively furnished pool.

The vines form a canopy of shade, adorned with water lilies and lily pads and a big willow tree above. The top of the room was open, with vines of leaves and flowers hanging down. People were perplexed by Illumina having such a place. Illumina is the most despised and ruthless God of the Swords. That is what they say, at least. There were so many rumors around Illumina that it's difficult to know which ones are accurate.

Some say he is the most powerful god, while others say he is cruel and terrible, but what if none of these claims about Illumina are true? Sure, Illumina has been known to be unpleasant at times. However, how about the rest?

Firebrand paced around the room frantically. His scaly tail swayed with each spin, while a concerned Windforce stood nearby. Getting up from the temple wall, she approached the concerned dragon.

"Brother, I understand your concern, but those three underwent something extreme. They need time to heal…” She paused in front of Firebrand to grab his attention and encourage him to stop pacing before he became dizzy. She was tired of seeing him push everything aside in the hopes that the three would show up for family dinners. Firebrand stopped pacing and glanced at Windforce, his eyes filled with grief.

"I know I know, I just- I can't let them wallow like this!" He wanted to shout and cry, rush to their temples, and hug them until they felt better. After all, he was the oldest and the King! The King should've been able to do anything!

Windforce placed both of her paws on Firebrand's shoulders, forcing him to remain still and look squarely at her. "Firebrand…Venomshank, Darkheart, and Illumina have all lost horns and wings. It will take some time for them to recover and shine in light again….”

Firebrand brought up his claw to hold Windforce’s arm as he leaned into her touch. As much as he didn't want to believe her, She was right. His heart ached for his siblings and how much pain they must endure right now. Even Firebrand couldn't imagine losing the ability to fly….

Although…

For Illumina it wasn't just his ability to fly….

Light purple stars fell into the water underneath him. Sobs wracked his body, and he hugged himself for comfort. How cruel. How could he present himself to others again? His beauty was gone. Scars covered his formerly exquisite body. He had strived for beauty, but it was no longer there. disappeared into the smoke of his dreams.

His body was healed. However, his intellect was not. Looking into the water made him want to vomit, and he couldn't recognize himself. He cannot recognize himself in the Seas of Purity. Did he really belong there anymore? His beauty was ruined….
