I'm not an expert on this topic, but I just don't like seeing connections being made in things that actually aren't connected (even if the person in the video is showing an admittedly cool thing), so: the thing in the image doesn't have anything to do with electricity!

It is called the 'Dendera light' -- it's true that a lot of people theorize that this has to do with electricity as that is what the images around this look like, but generally it is agreed that this is depicting a snake that is coming out of a lotus flower, and a priest is holding it up. The snake is also supposed to be a deity, but I sadly do not remember what this deity was called. Either way, that is what the text surrounding those images (there's more of this than the one in the video) talks about. There is nothing about electricity in those texts. All this is, is a story about a deity, of which its images coincidentally look like something from the modern day.

I'm also not informed enough to explain all the details (and this isn't my native language, so I hope I explained things well enough to be understood well), but if you google 'Dendera light' you should have all the information about it at hand -- but, and this is important, make sure it's from a reputable source; there's enough papers on this (and any other) topic that you can find and read for free.

Dendera Light Bulb

The Dendera light is a motif carved as a set of stone reliefs in the Hathor temple at Dendera in Egypt, which superficially resemble modern electric lighting devices. A fringe hypothesis suggests that the Dendera light depicts advanced electrical technology possessed by the ancient Egyptians; however, mainstream Egyptologists view the carvings as representing instead a typical set of symbolic images from Egyptian mythology. These depict a djed pillar and a lotus flower spawning a snake inside it, symbols of stability and fertility, respectively.

Every time i visit i think i leave crying… this recent time i wrote something in my notes on the drive back home. it’s not a very good piece of writing, fueled by blinding emotion.

A Lament for Dendera

O Hathor, Your temple is ruined.

The unfaithful walk in Your sanctuary,

Your pure place is filled with refuse.

Your high walls, these gleaming images,

are cracked and chipped away

by those who shall never comprehend

Your beauty, Your power.

Power here is held by the greedy,

who say I will let you in Her innermost shrine, for a price,

and the scholars misguide the pilgrims.

Lonely is Your shrine, with no gold,

with no lapis, with no carnelian, or turquoise.

The feet of the impure trod upon Your most hidden places,

and everywhere is the scent of absence and decay.

And the faithful, who come silently, are persecuted

Your followers are shamed and denigrated

as the lowest of beings,

by the keepers of Your temple.

Yet the lotus flower is still set in Your innermost shrine,

and prayers of Your praise and names are muttered

Quietly, in echoing halls,

once filled with priests of great devotion

and the fires of Your light.

The faithful come quietly

and bow in the shadow;

now a spectacle of humor

to the keepers and scholars of Your temple.

I leave my offerings and obeisances to You,

O Great Hathor,

whose shrine sits vacant and dim,

filled with singing birds

who fly through Your halls and nest within the walls.

I give my life and my heart to You,

O Beautiful Hathor,

whose temple is but a curiosity to the people of Your land,

who no longer know of Your glory

O Hathor, may You forever care for the birds of Your great temple,

may You forever tend to the cats who roam it’s halls.

May You halt the one who stops the songs of Your praise,

may You guide Your followers

to the gates of Your temple

and to Your vacant arms,

that gladly accept the joyous, and saddened, tears of the people.

Some personal thoughts:

Dendera is one of my favourite temples. Something always happens when i visit. The first time i went, i was able to sneak up onto the uppermost roof, where people used to come to sleep in hopes of being healed. This recent time i was greeted by a pregnant cat who curled up in my lap as i sang a hymn for our Lady Huther. i cried as she did. and, in one of the hidden crypts, i found someone had offered a lotus flower.

Unfortunately the experience is always tainted by people. “Guides” who want you to pay for things you don’t need to pay for. Who say you aren’t allowed to take photos, aren’t allowed to look at something or lie in the hypostyle hall and stare at the ceiling, without personally paying them. (You don’t have to pay them, they’re making it up, and they’ll go away if you tell them to fuck off. Or they will get the guy with the gun and then you have to pay both of them.) Then they lead you to the shrine room and tell you to touch the wall for ‘healing’. And there is a mark where the oil of everyone who listened to them touched, and it is degrading the paint and carvings. So i have a lot of detestation for such people. they upset my heart. and that is why i have written this lament. that is why i leave Dendera crying each time.

Holy light. I took this at the temple in Dendera, which is dedicated to Hathor. As you go up the staircase that winds around and eventually leads to the shrine areas at the top, there are these narrow windows. I've never noticed the decoration before. The rays of sunlight on the bottom and the stars on the top and the figures on the sides. THE QUESTION I KNOW YOU'RE ASKING NOW IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TWO SORCERERS WHO ENGAGE IN MAGICKAL FIGHTING AND MAGICKAL COMBAT UTILIZE THESE SAME FORCES? THE ANSWER IS VERY SIMPLE, BECAUSE ALTHOUGH THE SPIRITS OF THE NATURAL WORLD ARE INDEED BENEVOLENT BY NATURE, THEY ARE NOT ABOVE ENGAGING IN TRICKERY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S NECESSARY TO DEFEND THEMSELVES AND THE SPIRIT WORLD ITSELF. SO IN INSTANCES WHERE THERE ARE TWO MAGICIANS IN CONFLICT UTILIZING THE SAME FORCES OF THE SAME SPIRIT WORLD, THE BEINGS OF THE SPIRIT WORLD WILL SOLVE THE CONFLICT ON BOTH SIDES IN LINE WITH WHAT THEY WANT RATHER THAN WHAT EITHER OF THE MAGICIANS WANT, AND IF THEY SO DESIRE THEY WILL ALSO TRY AND SATISFY THE NEEDS OF THE MAGICIANS. IN OTHER WORDS, YOU CAN'T USE THE SPIRIT WORLD AGAINST ITSELF OR AGAINST ANOTHER PERSON UTILIZING THE SAME POWERS AND FORCES OF THE SAME SPIRIT WORLD. IF A WITCH, FOR EXAMPLE, WAS TO TRY AND THROW A CURSE AT ANOTHER PERSON WHO WAS ALSO A WITCH, THE BEINGS OF THE SPIRIT WORLD WOULD WORK OUT THE CONFLICT TO THEIR OWN ADVANTAGE RATHER THAN CARRYING OUT ANY SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS BY ANY SPECIFIC WITCH. I HAVE COME TO A POINT WHERE I EXPERIENCE SUPERNATURAL PHENOMENON ALL THE TIME, AND THE REALITY OF THESE SPIRIT BEINGS, AND I HAVE LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE AND ACCEPTANCE THAT ALLOW ME TO DO SO WITHOUT FREAKING OUT. I CAN DIRECTLY COMMUNICATE WITH THEM INSTEAD OF BEATING AROUND THE BUSH OR PLAYING GAMES OF TRICKERY AND DECEPTION. THEY USUALLY TELL ME THE TRUTH EVEN IF IT'S HARD FOR ME TO ACCEPT AT FIRST.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT POINT THAT GOES ALONG WITH THIS IS THAT MOST PEOPLE WHO WORK WITH THE YIN WORLD WILL END UP FINDING THAT THERE IS NOT THIS NECESSITY OF VAMPIREISM AS HAS BEEN AN IDEA PROPAGATED BY THOSE OF THE YANG WORLD. THE BEINGS OF THE YIN WORLD ARE NATURALLY AS THEY ARE, AND THEY ARE NOT OUT OF BALANCE IN A WAY THAT WOULD CAUSE THEM TO HAVE TO COMMIT ACTS OF VAMPIREISM ENERGETICALLY OR OTHERWISE. THESE ENTITIES ONLY TAKE A DEFENSIVE STANCE AGAINST THOSE WHO APPROACH THEM WITH HOSTILITY. EVEN THE ONES LIKE SPIDERS ARE INTELLIGENT AND ABLE TO COMMUNICATE, AND WON'T NECESSARILY ATTACK ANYBODY UNLESS THEY ARE ATTACKED THEMSELVES. THEY HAVE EXISTED LONG BEFORE HUMAN BEINGS AND FIND THEIR SUSTENANCE IN NATURAL WAYS THAT DON'T NECESSARILY INVOLVE ATTACKING HUMAN BEINGS IN ANY WAY. HOWEVER, IF HUMANS IN IGNORANCE BY BEING INGRAINED WITH THESE IGNORANT AND FALSE BELIEF SYSTEMS OF THE MAJOR WORLD RELIGIONS LIKE CHRISTIANITY ATTACK THE SPIRIT WORLD AND ACT IN WAYS THAT ARE HOSTILE TOWARDS NATURE, THEY WILL GET THE BUSINESS END OF THE SPIRIT WORLD, AND ALL OF THIS SHOULD JUST BE COMON SENSE.

SOMETHING ELSE THAT SHOULD BE COMMON SENSE IS THAT IF HUMAN BEINGS ARE POLLUTING AND HURTING PLANET EARTH DELIBERATELY, THEY ARE IN A STATE OF IGNORANCE AND INDEED IF THEY DO NOT TAKE STEPS TO HEAL THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH NATURE AND THE SPIRIT WORLD AND THE THINGS THERE IN, THEY WILL FIND THAT THEY HAVE BEEN BORN INTO A WORLD WHERE THEY ARE GETTING THE BUSINESS END OF THE SPIRIT WORLD UNLESS THEY DELIBERATELY SEEK RECONCILIATION THERE WITH. THESE SPIRIT BEINGS ARE THE GUARDIAN SPIRITS AND CUSTODIANS OF NATURE, SO IF HUMANS IN GENERAL AS A GROUP ARE HURTING PLANET EARTH INTENTIONALLY, OF COURSE THESE GUARDIAN SPIRITS WILL DEFEND THE PLANET. THUS IT SHOULD BE COMMON SENSE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE ON THE BUSINESS END OF THESE THINGS YOU WOULD NEED TO SEEK DELIBERATE RECONCILIATION WITH THESE GREAT AND POWERFUL GUARDIAN SPIRITS OF NATURE.

I went down a brief rabbit hole of watching ‘unexplained mysteries’ and other such titled things on youtube for a bit, and ...

The incredible confidence some people have while saying such absolutely batshit sentences is amazing. And, too, how some videos can go from one or two genuinely curious and interesting and plausible finds or facts or discoveries and then somehow end up two sentences later on things like ‘the presence of crocodile and ostrich bones in Ancient Egypt is evidence that Egyptian civilisation was actually Noah’s arc and survived the deluge’ is just ... mindboggling. One lady in the middle of talking about the Dendera light tossed in a random aside that, of course the ‘filament’ is shaped like a serpent, serpents are a common motif on alien spacecraft that make contact with earth. With, like, zero context, like this is a self-evident factoid. There was no previous or subsequent mention of aliens. The video was about Ancient Egypt having lightbulbs and electricity, as proved by this one set of carvings in one temple, and this batshit European dude who built a ‘working’ model of one.

It’s such a trippy experience watching some of these things. Like, some of them start out so sane sounding, and then it’s like your brain trips completely, you’re stumbling, wait, what was that last sentence? And then it keeps going, they just pile on sentence after sentence, each one more off-the-wall than the last, and then they say things like ‘this definitively proves that ...’ like there was anything resembling proof or even sanity at any point in the last three paragraphs of wildly disconnected and spurious nonsense.

I’m just left feeling ... awed, and vaguely angry, and kind of like I went walking in a field full of rakes? Like every step, every sentence, I just got slammed in the face by some new and often unrelated bullshit that apparently, no, was genuinely meant to have bearing on and even prove whatever went before it.

I think I need a break. And like a defrag and a reboot on my brain. The sentences that people feel blithe and confident enough to say. Wow.

No, Graham Hancock's theories don't hold water, he made them up to support his idea that some ancient superior race of white people (giants) visited the whole world in antiquity and taught people how to, checks notes, stack rocks and track the consistent movement of heavenly bodies. He got "experts" to support his shit for his Netflix series so people are more likely to accept it as fact, it's an appeal to authority fallacy, and he frames the presentation of these fantasies as "they're trying to silence me/don't want people knowing this" because he knows that making people feel like they're at risk of oppression for believing in something makes them cling to those beliefs more tightly.

No, alternative theories (hypotheses) aren't discounted by "mainstream academia" because they're trying to like, oppress truth seekers or whatever, they're discounted because they don't hold up to the scientific method. We know what ancient Egypt was like because they were big on documenting their society in writing, that we can translate.

The Dendera "light bulb" isn't a light bulb because the inscriptions above it literally identify it as a creation myth, where a snake is born from a lotus and creates the universe (iirc) and that's also exactly what it looks like. Ancient Egyptians didn't have electricity, they just had some wacky myths and even wackier ways of portraying them.

No, the pyramids all around the world aren't exactly the same. They're built in different styles with different orientations and functions, using different methods of construction as well as materials and ornamentation. They look similar because it's literally the easiest and most stable way to stack rocks, and because of how stable the structure is it's less likely to collapse, erode or shift with time, meaning of all structures built by ancient people those stuck around because of physics, while other structures were destroyed over time because of physics.

As a few people in the comments have already said, humans develop and invent technology as we need it with what we have access to. Ancient Egypt didn't fail to invent electrical grids because they were an inferior race, it's because they had no use for them, nor did they have the right materials or knowledge. And they didn't lack the knowledge because they were brown, they lacked it because the world was much more disconnected and related knowledge wasn't sufficiently pooled for the discovery of advanced knowledge. Please go watch videos from people like milo Rossi (miniminuteman) or history of the earth and history of the universe, and veritasium, and astrum, and astroalexandra. Understand the peer reviewed, evidence based, tested and tested and tested and proven facts, and then approach conspiracy theories again with critical thinking. You don't know the damage you're doing to your own reasoning and knowledge base by taking conspiracy theorists at their word. The truth is a million times more interesting anyway, and with the true knowledge you can make decisions that have more positive outcomes, because you based them on fact.
