(HUGE shout-out to @art-tea-chill for helping me come up with alot of cephlalas character, from design to even her name! I don't think I would've been able to come up with nearly as much of a character if it wasn't for her, so ty!)

Cephalala:

-Species: Sharpear Enope Squid

- A Primadonna, She's popular with the little girls who come to the central park zoo due to her beauty, but this doesn't satisfy her enough. She has everything but one thing, a talented singing voice, something Peniru has, and something that Cephalala has extreme envy and hatred for.

- Luckily for Cephalala, Dr. Blowhole created an invention for Cephalala which would suck out all the singing talent from Penirus voice using the seashell attached to the middle of her cape. it activates when she clicks the button, and that's able to instantly suck away all of her vocal cords, almost like magic.

- She tries to keep her facial expresses as stilted as possible so she doesn't "Get wrinkles and become ugly and old as quick as light", but she can't control her facial expressions when she's REALLY angry.

- Engaged to Dave

- She lives in a cavern similar to Ursulas cave, where she brews ideas and potions in her cauldron before dave has to revise them for her because of hers plans many flaws

- She can cloak into dark places with her cape, making it easier for her to spy on the penguins and Peniru

- Gets unbelievably upset when Skipper misspells her name

- Her least favorite member of the team is private, she's tried many times to kidnap him.

- Dave built her a tool that would allow her to disguise herself as a human like he does, so she can use Penirus stolen talent to become a Superstar singer to the unsuspecting humans on land, as another way to become the center of everyones attention, essentially becoming a fake-celebrity

- She will absolutely scream in horror if anything that she considers "Not Glamorous" gets onto her "Marvelous, Flawless Self",

- Her eyes and cape glow in the dark

Jathino:

- Jathino is a violet sea snail who acts as Dave and Cephalalas honestly just tired and exhausted Meowth, he was stolen from his natural habitat by Cephalala and kept for his, in her own words, "Natural Beauty". Jathino tries to give his advice and opinion on things that Cephalala does, but is usually cut off by Dave. He's usually dragged into the duos schemes, and while occasionally it's fun for him, sometimes he wishes he could just live with the penguins instead of having to deal with their antics, he's fond of daydreaming and occasionally daydreams about being a penguin on their team, it's basically his wish at this point, but as far as he's concerned he's stuck with cephalala and dave forever

Foo Fighters played a secret gig in Stockholm, Sweden on the eve of the release of their new LP Concrete and Gold, and to close out the concert, Dave Grohl and company brought out the Hives’ fiery frontman Pelle Almqvist to cover AC/DC’s “Let There Be Rock.”

Before bringing out “Howlin’ Pelle,” Grohl talked about his long admiration for the Hives singer, even dressing as Almqvist and covering the Hives’ “Hate to Say I Told You So” at Foo Fighters’ Halloween 2002 gig in New York.

“So tonight I thought it would be a good idea if we did a song together, one that we’ve never played with him before, but I think it makes perfect sense for this show,” Grohl said as he the intro to Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” before tearing into the 1977 AC/DC track, which Foo Fighters have frequently performed live since 2015.

In 2016, when AC/DC’s Brian Johnson announced he had to step away from the band, Almqvist was among the rockers who openly lobbied to be his replacement, Blabbermouth notes.

“I have many, many years of experience rocking the world’s biggest stages and, according to others, I am the greatest frontman in rock, plus judging from the reaction in Australia, your crowd already seems to really like me,” Almqvist wrote on the Hives’ Facebook at the time. “Plus, I have already been singing those songs since I was six years old. So, AC/DC, please consider my application.”

THABO – MORE OF THAT (PRODUCED BY ARON KYNE)

Let’s get the ball rolling with a goose-bump inducing neo-soul piece performed by Thabo Mkwananzi. Originally from Zimbabwe , the talented singer/songwriter/producer earned notoriety with his band The Real Deal ( Aron Kyne on Rhodes piano, Emmanuel Allert on acoustic guitar and Ali Mac on percussion) sharing the stage with well-known neo-soul artists such Avery Sunshine (check out her last effort Twenty Sixty Four), Eric Roberson,Dwele among others. The U.K based performer will literally seduce your ears and your soul with a superb and succulent downtempo song called More Of That wisely produced by musician/producer Aron Kyne . 

MOONCHILD – EVERY PART (FOR LINDA)

Los Angeles group Moonchild represents a rare example of musical project able to wrap three masterpieces in a mere five years! Infact through the superlative Be Free , Please Rewind and the new Voyager, Amber Navran, Max Bryk, and Andris Mattson have proven themself to be a staple amongst the jazz/neo-soul scene becoming an in-demand group for dope collaborations with artists such as Rapsody (appearing on her sumptuous Crown EP) and  Tall Black Guy (Let’s Take A Trip). Today we continue to celebrate Moonchild art selecting another brilliant piece from their recent majestic opus Voyager. The track is called Every Part (For Linda) and now sit back,relax and contemplate something that stands for quality.

Superman is definitely a tasteful cocktail, whose ingredients are blended together to create a perfect balance between melodies,harmonies and vocals. These ingredients go by the name of the most impressive artists of the international urban scene! Oh yeah, we got Eric Roberson,Maimouna Youssef & Muhsinah as background vocals ,we got Stro Elliot & Steve McKie on drums,we got James Poyser, Kaidi Tatham and  Daniel Crawford on keys and Jeff Bradshaw, Matt Cappy, Rick Tate on the horns!

Genuine, raw,organic and pure ! PJ Morton got an abundance of skills which have made him a great in-demand musician/composer/singer/songwriter but also a mature triple-threat able to wrap compelling albums. In parallel with a series of fruitful collabo along side Kali Uchis, Big Sean,GoldLink and last but not least Kendrick Lamar (he worked on Pride from the acclaimed Damn) , Steve had time to drop Steve Lacy’s Demo , a set of pieces released as solo artist that served as little tasteful appetizer for his fans. Scratchtheblock crew really loves Lacy eclectic and experimental approach so allow us to recommend the dope C U Girl.

TA’RAACH & THE LOVELUTION FEAT. JOY JONES – LIBERATIONS LULLABYE

Terrell McMathis better known as Ta’Raach is a multi-faceted producer/rapper,grew up in Detroit ,  whose brilliant mind graced us with majestic pieces such as Gone Baby, Don’t Be Long by Erykah Badu.  J.Dilla, Blu & Exile,Waajeed,Platinum Pied Pipers,SA-RA Creative Partners,Samon Kawamura are just few names of the artists which collaborated with Ta’Raach . In 2006 , Ta’Raach released the excellent opus The Fevers  written, produced, and mixed entirely by himself and packed with some interesting artists like Big Tone,Amp Fiddler and los angeleno rapper Blu among others. We selected the extra-refined neo-soul cut called Liberations Lullabye featuring the incredible voice of East LA experimental vocalist Joy Jones (which delighted us with her project Godchild, an exquisite blend of future soul,postmodern funk and intergalactic grooves ). This year in February Ta’Raach composed and arranged a compilation to pay tribute to Detroit sound: The Unseen – A Detroit Beat Tape Soundtrack

ALFA MIST & EMMAVIE – EASILY, I FORGET

The next track is a masterpiece finely wrapped by two dope artists from U.K: Alfa Mist and Emmavie. Alfa is young and talented self-taught pianist/producer from Newham,East London. His production skills unveil a penchant for jazz sonorities and hip-hop music and his signature sound is imbued with dark/contemplative beats intertwined with soul and jazzy elements. Emmavie is definitely one of our fav artists from U.K! Her intoxicating style, her incredible vocal prowess,her creative and intelligent approach behind the boards as producer make her a genuine,extraordinary international talent! In 2014 Alfa Mist and Emmavie joined their forces to record an impressive collaborative project entitled Epoch from which we chose the soulful Easily, I Forget. The joint will provide intense goosebumps,your brain will flush with dopamine and a tingly chill will whisk down your back!

SAMNELLY – LIKE THAT (PRODUCED BY BLUNTEDBEATZ)

Oh yes…the young New York singer Samantha Nelsen aka Samnelly  is a rookie but as you know the most important thing in music , is the ability to instill emotions and damn…with her track called Like That she literally knocked we out! Taking advantage of the mellow jazzy beat designed by Hamburg based beatmakers Dave White and Dr.Slice known by the stage name Blunted Beatz , Samnelly bewitched us with her soothing vocals.

We live in New York, Flatbush to be exact but damn…we have to admit the Los Angeles area is cranking out a lot of quality music.Recently great projects poured down on us , exciting our senses …so we can sing the praises of Ill Camille and her Heirloom , Terrace Martin is almost ready to release Sounds Of Crenshaw Vol.1 with his side project The Pollyseeds , Iman Omari warmed up his fans with Move Too Fast from the forthcoming  IHY LP , Matt Martians dropped a solo project called The Drum Chord Theory and we can go on again n again……Today we’re happy to listen to a brand new single written,produced and performed by Tay Walker.Try to define the talent of Mr.Walker without falling into the trap of banality is not easy !The Inglewood multi-talented artist is known for his collaborations along side The Internet (playing the keys on Purple Naked Ladies and working on the masterpiece Feel Good as composer, featured Artist, keyboardist as well as producer) but we prefer to focus our attention on his individual skills.In 2015 Tay Walker released his debut project entitled 25Hours A Day giving to the world a taste of his boundless potential and seducing with pieces like Karma.During a little conversation Tay told us he’s currently working on a new project called OWSTN (One Way Street No Nowhere ) and we want to share with you the sublime song titled A Crazy Thing Called Love.It’s a slow burning track that will enrapture your senses and will take you to the clouds above!Make sure you to check out the official music video which hosts young los angeleno artist Kleva GTD.

With iTunes being the new go to destination at 12:01 every Friday, its proves the want for new music is an ever growing one. Every week an album comes out with the potential to be great, and keeping track of it all is equivalent to finding the Golden Ticket in a Wonka Bar. We all wish to be Charlie Bucket, to be the one to find that hidden pass to paradise and show it to our loved ones. This is the first of a monthly series: The Golden Ticket Search, in which we present an album or albums that are hidden gems of originality, quality or an entry into something never before seen by the common man.

The Golden Tickets Of March: Daye Jack’s alternative hip-hop adventure through technology on ���No Data” 

Daye Jack “No Data”

To add to the ever growing list of genre bending Georgia artists, Daye Jack comes cruising in on his newest project, his debut studio album, “No Data”. Daye Jack, originally from Atlanta, began making music while attending NYU and has since been featured on tracks with Ariana Grande & Killer Mike, along with being an accompaniment to Pell and Lukas Graham on their own respective tours. Since signing to Warner Bros. the MC/singer has released his debut EP “Soul Glitch”. With further refinement from the projects before it, this album is layered with danceable electro and smooth synth-pop inspired beats. Within its 12 tracks, this debut is formed around thematic elements of the struggles of finding yourself in a physical world that is constantly being blurred with a digital one, and his want to find the answers all young people have. “How do i get me a bad bitch?”, “How do I get a million dollars?”, all questions asked to “his own personal AI”, a computerized woman's voice, who comes up fruitless to the answers Daye desires. Daye also raps and sings of the constant images being thrown in front of himself in the digital world and how that affects his wants in the physical world. Along with the computerized AI SAM,, Florida spitter Denzel Curry, Brooklyn rapper DonMonique, and Grim Dave are the lone features on the LP. A tight knit 42-minute concept project is the most refined version of the digi-world persona Jack has built for himself through previous releases, and begs the question on where he will go next, and how long will we have to wait with baited breath for the next chunk of songs to come.
