Here are the Contenders and Rules. Dreamworks did not theatrically release any films in 2018.
(Also feel free to add in the tags or notes whether I should still keep running the Dreamworks Tournament separate from the Illumination Tournament in the coming years)

(after winning a game of darts)
Kate: Suck it, Yelena. Yelena: Excuse me? Kate: You. Suck. Yelena: No, no, Kate Bishop. You suck. Natasha: Excuse me. I hate to interrupt, but may I make a suggestion?
(while staring at both of them, Natasha picks up and throws a dart without looking, hitting the bullseye)
Natasha: You both suck. Kate: (gasps) She's mean. Yelena: True. It's inspiring.

Jen Tortures Herself With Every Dreamworks Animated Movie Ever: The Boss Baby: Family Business
Tumblr media
So would you believe me if I told you this movie is better than the first Boss Baby? I mean it's not... much better, but still, improvements were made here. Let's talk about them.
We jump foward to a now adult Tim, who has fallen out of touch with his brother Ted (the original Boss Baby) and struggles to connect with his daughter Tabitha. He soon discovers his baby Tina is on assignment from BabyCorp to stop a new villain intent on wiping out all parents. Tina gives both Ted and Tim a formula to make them both young again, recruiting their help on this mission and roping them into all sorts of Mischief ala the first movie but... like I said, marginally better.
Tumblr media
So yeah, once again, very silly plot for a very silly movie. And yet... I don't know, it feels more... genuine than the first one did? Like it leans less on the obvious "oh look at funee baby in suit talking like a businessman" (though there is still plenty of that) and leans more on character interactions and I gotta respect that. Especially since it actually gives me a reason to care about Ted and Tim this time around, actually strengthening their bond and reflecting on how they weren't there for each other growing up like they promised they would be, and how they're given a second chance to change that now. Idk, just some pretty nice thematic stuff in there, along with Tim learning to be a better dad to his kids along the way (daddy issues in Dreamworks movies, they never stop, I Swear).
Tumblr media
The characters here are... ok. Better than they were in the first movie, I mean fuck, the titual Boss Baby is toned down a lot and is honestly one of the least painful parts of this. Tim is also better, mostly bc he's actually an adult here so he's not your annoying kid stereotype like he was before. Tina is... kind of annoying, being the source of all of the "business baby" jokes and she grates on the nerves every now and then. Tabitha is ok though, getting some good development alongside Tim. Then we have our villain, Armstrong, who is... surprisingly funny? Like he isn't the funniest dreamworks baddie by any means, but he was certainly watchable. Hell, you could kind of say that for this movie as a whole, really.
Tumblr media
The humor here is a little better, striking surprisingly a little more mature than last time (featuring an insane joke about agnostics like what the fuck Dreamworks I never would have thought you'd ever reference religion again after Prince of Egypt holy shit). The emotional beats also hit just a touch more, feeling a good degree less forced than the first movie's. And yet for everything this movie does well, I think its biggest problem is it drags on for far too long, just meandering with scenes that don't need to be anywhere near as long as they are, into a movie with a longer runtime than it probably should have had. It gets... tiring, after a while, and you get to the point where you just want the damn thing to end.
Tumblr media
The animation here is really nothing special, basically looking identical to the first movie's, though I will say a few of the imagination sequences were sort of eye catching here. The music is also pretty simplistic but there were a few diagetic songs that I thought were... ok enough. Pretty unoffensive in that reguard, though of course, the pop songs just couldn't keep their nose out of this movie either.
Tumblr media
Like I said, its far from being anything resembling good, but fuck, I watched Spirit Untamed last night and this was better than that and it was also better than the first movie, so that's gotta count for something. Even then though, it doesn't count for... that much.
Overall Rating: 4/10
Verdict: Pay tribute to the Greatest Dreamworks Character Ever: The Agnostic Kid

Autistic Tim Templeton Headcanons!
Tumblr media
he was diagnosed around age 10
his autism is one of the reasons why he feels so different from his brother, and why they both went down two very different life paths.
he DISPISES the textures of certain foods, like bananas or peas. they’re just mushy and gross!
he doesn’t like carbonated beverages. the bubbles feel weird and they kinda hurt his stomach.
he neuro narrates a lot! whether its through his imagination, daydreaming, or playing with his kids!
he’s had multiple special interests since childhood, like wizards, music, and board games.
he doesn’t always get jokes or sarcasm. sometimes Carol will make an off handed sarcastic comment and it’ll hurt Tim’s feelings, and she’s had to learn to clarify whenever she was joking in the future.
he does NOT like loud noises. at all. whether its a dog randomly barking, a firework going off, or thunder– it causes him to become extremely overstimulated and anxious.
Tim experiences episodes of being minimally verbal when overstimulated. it’s hard for him to communicate how he’s truly feeling, or what he really needs.
Tim likes being able to write because it helps him pre-plan certain situations and script out what it would be like in reality. it helps with being minimally verbal on occasion.
Tim loves his routine, and having kids was actually really helpful with that. before the kids, it was easier for things to pop up and interrupt the routine he and Carol had set up in their lives. after the kids, people were more understanding.
he fidgets and stims, a lot. whether its bouncing his leg, rocking in his chair, or picking at his fingers, chewing at his nails – he’s constantly moving.
he hates when people touch his things or rearrange them. he puts them in a very specific order and he doesn’t like it when that order is changed or switched around!
he’s SUPER clumsy. he always bumps into things or knocks over a vase of flowers that Carol had JUST put on the table. he constantly bruises himself because of this, too.
both Tim and Carol are obviously huge advocates in regards to mental health. they educate others on autism and hold little events at the library. he’s not as awkward interacting with people he knows and trusts, but he kinda shuts down when talking to a complete stranger. its just hard to connect the same way.

Behold....a Boss baby family business fanfiction!
Because, honestly, where are those?!
Anyway, enjoy! (I'm still improving my writing style tho)
Winter's warmth
The winter breeze whistled softly against the windows of the Templeton household as snowflakes danced outside, painting the neighborhood in a soft, ethereal blanket. A delightful aroma of freshly brewed coffee and warm cinnamon pastries filled the air, signaling the start of another beautiful winter's day.
"I bet my tray tastes better" Tim looked at his wife with a look of challenge
"You wish" Carol smirked, playfully nudging her husband. "My cinnamon rolls are legendary in this household. I have you and the girls hooked."
Tim laughed, eyes sparkling with mischief. "Well then, why don't we settle this once and for all? A cinnamon roll bake-off. Winner takes the title of Winter Baking Champion."
"You're on, Mr. Templeton," Carol raised an eyebrow "But be prepared to taste defeat."
With their daughters, still in their pajamas and rosy-cheeked from the cold, the family gathered in the kitchen. It was a lively scene, with flour flying and mixing bowls clanging, as both Tim and Carol worked their magic.
Tabitha and Tina, were in charge of taste-testing. They took their job very seriously, tasting each dough and deliberating with critical expressions on their faces.
As the aroma of cinnamon filled the kitchen, the girls couldn't help but dance with excitement. Tabitha favored her father's tray, with its perfectly golden swirls and just the right amount of filling, while Tina leaned towards her mother's, appreciating the delicate balance of flavors.
As the judges announced the tasting session was over, and the moment of truth arrived, the couple placed their trays side by side, adorned with glistening icing and irresistible scents.
Finally, the moment arrived. Tim and Carol gingerly placed their trays on the table, the inviting scent wafting through the kitchen. The golden swirls becked, tempting the girls to take a bite before the official verdict. Tim and Carol exchanged nervous glances, their hearts racing with anticipation.
"Alright, time for the taste test," Tim declared.
Carol and Tim exchanged mischievous grins before tentatively reaching for a cinnamon roll each. The room seemed to hold its breath as they took their first bites. Their eyes widened, and a chorus of delighted giggles erupted.
"These are the best cinnamon rolls ever!" Tabitha exclaimed, her voice filled with pure joy.
"I agree. You've outdone yourself this time, Daddy," Tina chimed in, her mouth full of the warm, gooey treat.
Tim and Carol couldn't help but beam with pride. Baking was their passion, their way of creating sweet moments for their family amidst the bitter cold of Chicago's winter. They had spent countless evenings perfecting their cinnamon roll recipe, and seeing their girls' faces light up made it all worth it.
"But who won?" Tim and Carol said in unison, their grins widening.
"I believe I did," Tim said, a playful glint in his eyes.
"Oh, come on! I put in just as much effort as you did," his wife shot back
"Please, i have my secret ingredient"
"What is it, may i ask?"
"It wouldn't be a secret anymore now, would it?"
As the bakers continued arguing, their daughters have already finished half a tray. They looked at each other, then back at their parents, their mouths full.
"Should we interfere?" Tina asked
"I don't know," Tabitha replied "What do you think?"
"I think these cinammon rolls are amazing."
"I know right!"
"Well, that's for our trusted judges to decide," Tim countered, gesturing to their giggling daughters, whose attention snapped back to their parents.
Tabitha and Tina, both equally excited and stuffed with cinnamon rolls, looked at each other and nodded. "It's a tie!" they declared
The bakers exchanged amused glances before they turned towards their daughters, grinning. "A tie, huh?" Tim said, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Well, I guess that means we have to come up with a tiebreaker, doesn't it?"
The girls' eyes widened with anticipation, their attention entirely focused on their parents. "What's the tiebreaker, Dad?" Tabitha asked, bouncing in her seat.
Carol leaned closer to her daughters, a mischievous smile playing on her lips. "How about a snowman building competition?" she suggested. "Whoever builds the biggest and most creative snowman wins the grand prize."
Tina clapped her hands excitedly, her eyes gleaming. "I like the sound of that! Let's do it!"
With their decision made, the family bundled up in warm winter attire, ready to face the snowy landscape outside. Tim led the way, his footsteps crunching on the fresh snow as they made their way to the yard.
Upon opening the door, they were greeted by a winter wonderland – a pristine blanket of snow covering the park, sparkling under the winter sun. The girls let out joyful squeals, quickly diving into the snow, eager to start building their snowmen.
As they rolled snowballs and stacked them one on top of the other, Tim and Carol joined in, their laughter merging with the girls' infectious giggles.
The winter wind carried the joyful sounds throughout the neighborhood, painting a serene picture of a happy family cherishing their time together. Tim and Carol couldn't have asked for a better way to spend a winter's day.
With warm hats covering their heads and matching scarves wrapped snugly around their necks, Tim and Carol helped their daughters create the most magnificent snowman Chicago had ever seen.
"Alright girls," Tim started, his voice cheerful as he scooped up a handful of snow. "Time to show Mr. Snowman how it's done!"
"Absolutely, babe" Carol chimed in, joining him in gathering the fluffy white flakes. "We've got to make sure he's the talk of the neighborhood!"
Tabitha and Tina giggled with excitement, their rosy cheeks matching the vibrant hue of their winter attire. They eagerly followed their parents' lead, gathering snow and shaping it into a solid base for the snowman.
As they worked, Carol couldn't resist a wide smile. "Hey, Tim," she whispered, nudging him playfully. "Do you think Mr. Snowman needs a superhero cape?"
Tim's eyes lit up, "Oh, definitely! He needs to save the day, after all. Look out, Gotham City!"
The family burst into laughter, their voices echoing in the winter air. With their giggles still dancing around them, they added a cape made from a red and blue scarf to Mr. Snowman, transforming him into a fantastic superhero.
