Every time I remember this specific box set design exists I laugh so hard I cry

This painting is not just about praying over potatoes!

The Angelus bells are rung generally at 6am, noon, and 6pm (you can see the church in the distance) and prompt everyone who hears to pause and say a short prayer:

V. The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.

R. And she conceived by the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.

R. Be it done unto me according to thy word.

Hail Mary, etc.

V. And the Word was made flesh.

R. And dwelt among us.

Hail Mary, etc.

V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.

R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let Us Pray

Pour forth, we beseech Thee O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts; that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by his Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of his Resurrection through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

The prayer summarizes the entire Gospel message of God’s involvement in and love for humankind. Potatoes are great and indeed a necessity but this isn’t about that. This is about pausing to remember God’s relationship with us throughout the day.

That’s what these two people are pausing in the labor to recite in this painting.

It’s a wonderful spiritual practice and these days you can even get an Angelus app which will ring bells for you three times a day.

You know... that SMT/Top Cow crossover idea I came up with a while ago still occasionally pops on my head, and I have been thinking about how would the gods and monsters of SMT exactly feel about the Witchblade, Darkness, and Angelus. For one, I think some of the more high and mighty of them would feel things are unfair, that these Protogenoi can easily take hosts while they're stuck without their Knowledge when the Condemnation is in place. Secondly, once Armageddon has happened, I can imagine maybe some of the demons and angels flocking to the side of the Darkness and the Angelus respectively. Abdiel would still believe in the word of the God of Law, so she wouldn't join the Angelus. The Army of Chaos and/or those still loyal to Lucifer wouldn't easily join the Darkness. Meanwhile the Witchblade is just surviving alongside it's host, or maybe is looking for the Temple of Eternity, in a bid to restore Balance. Ooooh! Here's a fun thought: with Canon of Vengeance seeming to not have a Neutral ending, imagine if in this crossover that while Tao and Yoko are of Law and Chaos respectively, that whoever bears the Witchblade is representative for a new Neutral ending, or a "Balance" ending.

To keep some things in place with the Top Cow side of things, the Witchblade can jump to new hosts if needed, so in this crossover, it is not bound to anybody with Knowledge. Same would go for the Angelus, and maybe, MAYBE the Darkness as well. I only say "maybe" when it comes to the Darkness, since it seems to really like the Estacado family, and because of that, will really only jump to a new host once that person is conceived. Yeah, the Darkness is WEIRD.

Anyways! With the Witchblade being able to jump to new hosts if needed, while I would like to keep the host as Sara Pezzini, I also like the idea that she may have died heroicly saving the one who would become the next host, and that host may have somehow gotten into the same school as the Nahobino. I'll mull this over a bit more.

It is fun to imagine maybe some demons trying to get in Jackie Estacado's good graces, only for them to get chomped on by one of Jackie's Darkness Maws. Jackie I can imagine want to take on the role of the next Creator, probably in part not wanting some high schooler to do what he feels is a grown-up's job. He may be the bearer of the Darkness and a mob boss, but Jackie is not a completely bad guy, in his own ways.

The Angelus however would want to install a new order, with her at the top. Or somewhat alternatively, a new world of peace and order but also where there is no more free will. The Angelus kinda seems like that type to me, but I may also need to refresh some things in my mind regarding her.
