NIGHTMARES

There are times when Mickey has trouble falling asleep. He thought it would have gotten better now that he's out from under his Dad's thumb and moved to the Westside but it's just one thing after the other.

It's too quiet. Too bright. He doesn't fit in. Nightmares.

Nightmares.

He thought he'd outgrown them, having been plagued with them as a kid which caused him to be a light sleeper. Always ready to attack.

He'd dream about monsters chasing him, being left in dark places, creatures he doesn't know are after him.

Except they're not really nightmares at all, are they?

He vividly remembers being chased and beaten by his Da- Terry, by Terry on the regular and if it wasn't him then some other relative that was bigger than him. There was the time Terry was completely out of it and probably didn't even recognise Mickey as his own son and had gone after him with a gun for stealing the drug money from him. Mickey had quickly run out and found a hiding place as he watched Terry storm around looking for him. He'd been 7.

Or when he was young and used as collateral where he'd been left with gang members he didn't know, kept in dark rooms while he waited and waited for Terry to find the money and come take him home. He doesn't know how long he was there, still doesn't 20 odd years later and he doesn't want to know.

"Hey" a voice startles him out of his memories "You coming back to bed?"

"Yeah, yeah" Mickey thumbs at his nose "Couldn't sleep"

"Okay" Ian smiles sleepily at him, eyes barely open in the early hours of the morning "I could make tea or something, keep you company?"

And Mickey should say no, should say that he's fine on his own and that Ian needs his sleep but he doesn't.

"Yeah, actually" Mickey takes a breath "That'd be really nice"

I hate being touch-starved but also somewhat touch-averse. Like- "demi-touch-averse" or some shit. Averse unless I really like and trust a person. So yeah, I'd love hugs and cuddles, but only from one or two particular people. 😭 and the main Favorite Person, i'm kinda too afraid to ask, because they're legit deadass super averse afaik.

TBH I'm running on a broken sleep schedule and 2-3 hours of sleep, and I had an appointment and work all in the same frickin' day. So. Uh. Yeah. Feeling a liiiiiittle emotionally fucky rn. 🤏 also I meed to be more consistent in taking my meds. Missing it half the time's also fucking with me.

i think so much of my life is spent missing people. i miss my family always obviously, my mom, dad, brother, cousin, grandma being the first ones, and my two best friends from childhood, one of them lives in the states and the other in france. but i also miss every friend i've made in different places i couldn't carry to new places with me. i miss my ex-crush a lot because there's also this yearning feeling for something that didn't even happen but could be amazing and ughhh, anyway, i'm getting teary eyed at this. i miss everyone i ever loved.

18: Most traumatic experience

honestly, nothing personal comes to mind. i had sad experiences and years that truly tried my mental health but nothing that traumatized me. same with my childhood, i was a very lost kid with a lot pressure on me but overall it was a good childhood. i think the biggest traumatic events in my life are rooted in turkish politics, we grew up with/around so many terror attacks and laws and decisions that'd be considered hate crime in other places. it's hard to pretend none of it touched me even tho i wasn't very often at the center of it.

35: What I find attractive in men

developed brain. but genuinely, empathy and openness, awareness of the global issues, care and love for the arts. if they're able to laugh with you. a complete lack of women vs men haha jokes. then physically good hands, broad shoulders, nice hair i can rake my fingers through etc.

ehhhh at this moment i doubt i'll ever finish anything. maybe the lifeguard au? i was red-hot for the idea at first but then it kinda... fizzled out. kept changing. got ruined by pushy ppl lol. but maybe i'll get back to it one day bc i would love a nivannedy summer romance tbh.

16. What are your writing strengths?

uhm. characterization. dialogue. emotional shit? idk i think i do best when i have intimate moments with two people. tiny everyday moments and mundane shit. like that. if i get going writing sometimes flows super well and i think i can get consistently readable stuff done in one go. but that'd require getting going lol.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

action. i suck at action. i also suck at it in the way that i can't actually make myself start writing. i got way too co-dependent when i still had people excitedly participating in the process and now i sit here sad doing nothing :'D but anyway. writing action and having some self-discipline lol.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

depends very heavily on the context. in general i do think it should be all in one language for readability but there are exceptions. i've done it too lol but it was only like a line or two in finnish :'D

diru, twenty years ago lmao, it's like a different lifetime. i only learned of the existence of fanfic at the ripe old age of nineteen lol but yeah it's still been so long now.

Why do you like or dislike this character? i like grooves because he has a lot of complexity to his character. i like that he's not JUST outwardly nice and has selfish qualities to him. it's just very interesting to talk about and explore. though i also love that he's completely earnest in his behavior too.

Favorite canon thing about this character? i think it's probably how he was voice acted that REALLY makes me like his character and find it to be effective. his VA has a lot of range and portrays his character very well.

Least favorite canon thing about this character? i always agonize about this but i wish he got more of a role in the game beyond his chapter. especially because if you choose conductor as the winner, grooves' character is basically forgotten from there on out. i just wish he at least had more of a presence in the finale of the game, seeing as all the other characters get something to say but he didn't. (except cut dialogue lines that DON'T count at all :////) also more grooves merch please gfb.

If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in? an animated series for a hat in time would be so cool i think and if we could have little animations related to each character that'd be so awesome.

What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them? one of the songs i relate to grooves is 'two evils' by bastille and 'rhythm of the night' by corona. two evils i feel describes grooves and conductor's relationship very well and rhythm of the night is another one that i feel suits him on vibe (tho i also like to relate the bastille cover as well, if on the basis that that ver implies enduring the same thing every day after day and the whole thing driving someone a bit mad)

What's something you have in common with this character? we both love music, musicals and love to dance!

What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like? i absolutely love when people explore his character and also make content of him being close to the kids. i love grandpa grooves content with my whole heart. i also like when people create content that explores his feelings on everything that has happened to him.

What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise? treats him as less important or interesting than conductor and also when people's only perception of his character is when all people have to say about him is just "he's gay." like it's fine of course to explore his sexuality when exploring his character but i just don't like when that's ALL people have to say about him. and him being an afterthought to every other character. 😔

Could you be roommates with this character? as much as i love him, probably not. i just feel like he might be too loud at times or a bit overbearing and that might be a bit off-putting. i can admire him from a distance tho.

What's a headcanon you have for this character? i have shared many headcanon's but probably my favorite one is him having moments where him and conductor just randomly get along and all seems to go well between them before going back to normal. i jsut think it's amusing.

What's something you don't like? i like to describe his actions in a certain flared and outwardly perfect way while him being extremely flawed. i also like exploring his thoughts and feelings on things. what i don't like is trying to come up with things he would say sometimes as sometimes i feel like i don't know exactly how he'd express them. technical stuff related to his job is also hard for me too but i try my best lmao.

If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like? i kinda mentioned it before but things that go in-depth with his character are my favorite. something i don't like is him not being given the same complexity as other characters (which is a common issue) and exclusively to discotrain stuff is when people just treat him like an accessory to conductor and never explore him beyond surface level. i haven't read much fic but i always seen this as a problem.

What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them? uhhhhh i can't really say atm? grooves is rather unique to me so it's hard for me to compare him to other characters. at least in the fandoms i'm a part of there's no characters i could really compare him to? i have seen others draw parallels to him and other characters but most the time it's characters i'm unfamiliar with.

What was your first impression of this character? How about now? to be honest, when i was playing hattytime for the first time, i didn't think all that much of him. originally i did kinda prefer conductor but not in a like 'he's better' way but more like conductor's personality is really strong and stood out more initially.

having conversations with people and seeing a lot of fan content about grooves made me realize that FUCK he's a really good character and then i started looking at canon content with a whole new light and suddenly my favorite character was dj grooves.

Hello! I love your papyrus headcanons and your art of them! Do you have any extra fun facts about Lace or Void?

Ty!!! That's so kind of you to say 🥺💖 extra fun hmmm

I'm not sure how fun these are per se, but Void is incredibly self sufficient! You accumulate quite a lot of knowledge from traveling and living on your own, so he's got survival skills for just about any terrain, most situations, medical know how for humans and monsters alike. You name it, he probably has at least some knowledge on it, even space crafts! But day to day he mostly puts those skills to use in much simpler ways – mending clothes, fixing armor and weapons, gardening, food preservation, weather prep, etc etc etc

Loves sitting out in nature and just relaxing. The rare times he isn't hurrying off to whatever's next, if he really truly just relaxes for a moment, one of his favorite places to be is lakeside on the surface in a peaceful universe, listening to the water, the creatures, feeling the breeze. If he wasn't so paranoid, that'd be the best place for him to sleep.

At various points throughout time, Void essentially winds up "fostering" a number of people while they're displaced, until he or his allies can return them home or find them a new one. Non-canonically, this includes Abstract and Cosine, canonically, it also includes a Chara variant who goes on to wind up an "outcode" ally as well. Once they're an older teen, they decide to head out on their own to find their place in the multiverse (though they do make time to check on Void now and then)

Doesn't watch tv or movies anymore, so most of his knowledge is extremely outdated or very random. It's hard to keep track of what's popular in which universe for every generation!

He keeps everything genuinely gifted to him until it's worn away by time. He’s fairly adamant about only using the void to preserve a very few important things. Besides, most gifts are made to be loved, not last forever.

He would never voice it, but he’s always a little charmed by all the differences across the multiverse. Even two AUs that should be nearly identical will still have their quirks, and after a while, they become so pronounced. Truly, everything is unique in one way or the other.

As for Lace...

He's one of those anomaly type extroverts. He's popular and usually quickly recognized wherever he goes, but most don't know much about him beyond how friendly he is, and he seems to slip from the mind when he’s not actively around. It's almost like he only exists when in plain view and then disappears the moment he’s gone, but few think on it long enough notice...

He does love cats, but he loves dogs probably almost as much! Absolutely the type of person animals are naturally drawn to as well.

He doesn't really paint or draw so much like the others, but on the occasion he does it's usually very colourful and abstract. It comes across very...raw, and despite seemingly like it should evoke a happiness or energy based on the colours and usual naturey landscape subjects, they come across rather melancholy.

He knows a lot about self care, and that means he knows a lot about how to take care of others! He gives incredible massages, and would have the best advice to help almost anyone unwind after a long day, and may even lend a helping hand himself if they're close enough <3

Has 9 million pictures on his phone. All his storage is always being eaten by pictures of anything and everything. Cute animals or bugs he saw out, clothes that inspired him, flowers, trees, clouds of all types, the sky, the stars, nice drinks hes gotten while out, interesting buildings. Anything, you name it, there's sooo many pictures and he needs all of them.

Similarly to Edge and Void, he loves hair, loves doing hair, playing with it, but he also loves doing makeup, nails, all that sort of stuff! I guess in general he likes treating the body like a canvas, loves how customizable it is!

7. What was your life like last year?

Crikey. I have difficulty remembering thongs that happened yesterday, let alone a year ago!

My little boy had just started at school, the Tories had screwed over kids with additional needs so he'd been placed in a mainstream school to save money, and had already been excluded once or twice. So I was living on edge every day that I'd get a call from the school telling me I had to go and pick him up. (It's been a year long battle, but we've *finally* got the local authority to agree he needs to go to a special needs school, and he's got a rep from the school we want coming to observe him thus Thursday, so please keep everything crossed for us!)

Aside from that, very little has changed in a year. I'm very lucky to be in a position in life where I'm mostly content.

12. What is something you want right now?

A tidy living room. That'd be nice (far too tired to do anything about it though 🙃)

55. Tumblr friends

I've not got many anymore tbh! I was on tumblr for many years — mostly in the Everlark, Jonathan Strange, and Caryl fandoms — and had some really great friends, but after my son was born 5 years ago I was suffering from severe PND, and ended up deleting my blog after getting some horrible anon hate. I got drawn back in not long ago and tried to find a lot of my old friends, only to find they've either changed their blog names, deleted, or sadly in the case of one of my closest old mutuals, passed away. It's a lesson to make sure you have more than one way to contact online friends 💖

So I'm kind of starting again with making tumblr friends, and so far the Lost fandom seems to be one of the most open!

JuAli is my main Magi ship~ I also enjoy ships like AliHaku, SinJa, KouMor and others on the side ^^

KuroEne is my main KagePro ship (cuz I'm insane) and I'm a HaruTaka/KonoEne/KuroEne main. I also like other ships and multiships on the side ^^

KuroEne is basically a rare pair that KagePro's EA/JP fandom invented cuz they big brained seeing how they could tie it to the HaruTaka and KonoEne ships, which are interconnected with each other (which is the reason for why I ship it too)

KuroEne is a very niche pair for if you're a Kuroha fan (villain enjoyer) and have Ene as your wife/one of your fave charas (which is the case for me). Kuroha is my fave KagePro chara/meow meow mf, and Ene is my KagePro wife.

Shintaro and Ene's friendship is everything to me. Their dynamic is so important to me, but I don't mind them as platonic or as a ship since they have interesting character parallels.

Me: You know the part during the 2nd chorus of daze (2:00 - 2:22) where it flashes the Mekakushi Dan members' deaths in their silhouettes (how they came into contact with the Kagerou Daze) and Kuroha/Saeru's lil Outer Science bit

I love you Sonic art!! They look so amazing and I wanna hear your thoughts on Sonic Movie 3. The one thing I want the most is Amy to be there. After watching both movies I noticed there was a recurring theme, first one being Sonic finds a family, second he gets to have brothers who are like hime, so it would make sense if the third tackles on crushing on someone in Sonic’s case and I think with how the writers wrote all characters decently well in both movies. I can see them making sonamy work in a way that is endearing but also not make it the main focus of the movie. Amy is just so cool and I do hope the reason why she is on earth is because she got a premonition of a disaster awaits the earth which is a foreshadowing to the ark.

I'd love to see Amy in Sonic 3!! If they could bring in her tarot/prediction abilities into it that'd be a great bit of tie in to old lore (didn't even know it was a thing until IDW bought it back into the limelight), I would absolutely adore that!

I'm honestly ok if they don't go down the whole romance/crush dynamic with Sonic and Amy. That's a personal preference, if they're buddies and everyone's playing baseball by the end I'm more than happy :D

I think Amy being in Sonic 3 would work especially well because of Amy's significance in Sonic Adventure 2. She's the one who talks to Shadow and convinces him that the planet is worth saving. So her being there would be pretty good because as much as I love the boys, I think Tails would be the only one who'd even attempt to talk to Shadow and I don't feel like he'd have the right words for the job.

Maddie can definitely fill that role too, but Amy already had that moment taken from her in Sonic X, so I think she deserves it back.

Ok so this is off tangent a bit but I got wondering about how if she did speak with Shadow about how good the Earth is, where that knowledge would be coming from? And then I started imagining if she was already on Earth, but she hadn't spent years in hiding in fear of being found like Sonic did, she was living with a nice family who found her, and she leaves upon her cards telling her of impending disaster (insert reason for her not knowing about the Master Emerald and all that). But no one finds out she was on Earth the whole time until she talks to Shadow, when he asks why she cares so much about a world she doesn't even live on, and she reveals that she's been there a long time, and the goodness of the people around her who kept her safe, and the beauty of the world that she's seen make it worth saving.

Filing this under 'things that will never happen' but when you get an idea you just gotta ramble! xP
