I have a confession to make. The other day I slipped up and prayed.

Should I make a video confessing to my sin? In front of CNN? And the nation? And promise to never do it again? Should I resign in disgrace? An embarrassed look on my face?

I am guilty of party line violation caught in the act..of prayer and supplication to God.

Only you can save us oh great Democratic Party hacks —- the Saviors and Messiahs of our souls and our nation.  

I will meditate on you on a daily basis. Upon my little yoga mat I cross my legs and repeat the phrases, “cross my heart hope to die”,  forgive me for I

I posted Pray For our Country and got some anti trumpies comments.  They said  I’ll pray for that man in the WH.  Like he’s the only problem is the only one that we needs to pray about.

It’s starting to really piss me off.  Give them an inch and they’ll take a mile.  

Is there another reason to pray?  Is it because bombs are being dropped?  Is it because Obama decided we no longer have to declare war to drop bombs on people? Just pick a country. That we can bomb people anywhere anytime we want?  

Or is it because someone offended you?  Did it offend you when a convicted pedophile got a standing ovation from most of Hollywood including Meryl Streep at the Academy Awards? Or that madonna said she wanted to blow the White House up?   ( remember the Dixie Chicks! )

Or that Hillary Clinton got a child trafficer off the hook? When she kidnapped 30 children in Haiti? Or that this woman now is working for Amber alert? Under a different name? Is it because Muslim grooming gangs in England kept young girls around for sexual purposes for decades?  Is it because refugees from starving Africa are storming the beaches of Spain?  And roaming the streets of Italy with hatchets and machetes? Is it because there are approximately 1000 no go zones throughout Europe? But initially what happened? Each group made their point. Peacefully. Nothing happened. The fact that this had a good outcome, the three opposing groups had their say each in their moment and no one got hurt.

What happens a bit later, media types begin shaming....Your group is to blame. Blame blame blame.  

CNN set it up and dutifully the chorus chimed in. On cue just as we have come to expect.

There is something about creating impossible standards for people that sets them up for control. It’s a means of control and repression common among very manipulative types. (Sociopaths)

The real hurt came later. The attacks began. Now it’s a serious thing we are talking about.

Maligning to a certain extent one group or another.

Perhaps there is something to be gained from all of this. Certainly each group has something to say a point to make.

We see what is unreasonable, counterproductive. To some extent in it’s virulence, and unnecessary.

State your point, without bashing the rest of the world. Behave yourself online. Don’t make stupid comments. Don’t make hurtful comments. Don’t attack. Don’t vilify. Because that’s not what happened in the first place.

Through this lens ljust look at what happened. The boys do the school cheer. The blacks made their points however crude. The Native Americans intervene ostensibly prayerfully to create harmony. Good deal. The smirking white boy, an underage teen, was praying all the time for a peaceful resolution.  An end to the confusion. Admirable.

And guess what, prayers were answered.

Let’s be thankful for that.

Let these antagonistic voices reflect on their own motives, meanspiritedness, within their own souls and consciousness. Is what I am doing ugly, one sided and unfair? “I went off without hearing the whole story. And it devolved into a diatribe. For that I apologize. I got it wrong.”

What if someone had come out and said you’re welcome to come in if you are quiet and respectful. Or you can wait and we will have a representative out here to listen to what you have to say.

Just remember the words to the prayer, is my best unsolicited advice.  It touches us all and everything better than anything and believe me I’ve searched my whole life. It’s a condensation and distillation of things that are spiritually meaningful to all of us. Best of all they are not my words or anybody else’s of similar human consciousness. We know they come from a higher place and beyond ourselves and they lift us up to that level. That’s my experience which I’m trying to share in this song. People share lots of things on fb, right?

I believe you are musically gifted ... I heard from your dad and others.  I don’t know if we’ve actually met but I remember there was some good buzz when you were younger.  

I’m trying to spread the word and various people come up, in my consciousness, individuals who for one reason or another I really want to share it with.

There’s no reason to think that by the boys not being where they were supposed to be that there was ill intent on their part ... just wandering off.

Apparently these days just about anything no matter how innocent, like wandering off makes you a bad guy. That is very wrong in my opinion. Having white skin makes me a bad guy. It’s called identity politics, but it’s more like a circular firing squad.

And it’s orchestrated by the truly guilty, the fraction of 1% that control our minds. This control is exercised mainly through the Democratic Party these days but in times past it was the Republicans.

Neoliberals have emerged in the same way that neocons emerged and like a parasite have taken over the brain and diverted it 180° opposite from it’s original purpose and identity.

How can you get the majority of peaceful people to go to war without a pearl harbor or a Gulf of Tonkin or an assassination or a 911. Can you actually create a Civil War over an issue? They can. And they work on it day and night. Rust never sleeps.  

They have all of the tools and resources. Political power, the media, money.

When Mao was losing power he used his wife to destroy a culture.  I see the Clinton’s and their backers doing basically the same thing.  Any means necessary to retain power. Even if it takes down the whole country in process.  It doesn’t matter who you sleep with. Change the laws change the religion change the family destroy the family blame the culture, blame this one and that one, it’s all justified.  

But never blame those w the big $, the ones that have no allegiance but to power and who fund your group. Through their corrupt shell game, foundation/money laundering operation.

Look how CNN twisted what happened and turned on these boys. Got the whole nation  up in arms against them. Now they get death threats and have been docsed.  

Can you imagine CNN calling high school kids “school shooters?”  But that’s the side CNN took.  Against kids.  These are foul, evil people at CNN. They are supposed to be journalists and they are preaching hatred against kids.

Back to the wandering off bit.  If there was a group of native Americans demonstrating or protesting or just doing something interesting wouldn’t you want to watch? Maybe you might wander off too, to see what was going on? That was the whole wish and desire of the Native Americans.  They wanted that attention. So why were the boys at fault for wanting to check it out? It was interesting. How did they know what would happen next?

But it’s so easy in this culture to pin the blame on the innocent.  And even feel good about it because you are taking up for the “poor oppressed minority.”   But not the poor, oppressed white families faltering in this climate less and less which Bernie recognized. Austerity.

It’s not good judgment, or just, to do that but that’s what happens again and again.  

This time it happened to a group of teenage Catholic boys. Who I think behaved admirably.

Who targeted them?  The minorities that everyone is so quick to embrace even if they are in the wrong. Even if they are railroading an innocent person or persons. Or a whole country.  

I will embrace them too when they realize I’m not the enemy.  I pray for them because I have more in common with them than what divides us if they only knew that we have a common enemy. As long as we are divided the problems will become worse.  Our enemies would fall in a nanosecond if we all united.

Also you need to look at George Soros from the other side. What they really want is a police state. They want to stifle dissent.  Which is ironic. You can’t have it both ways. There’s no reason to think that by the boys not being where they were supposed to be that there was ill intent on their part ... just wandering off.

Apparently these days just about anything no matter how innocent, like wandering off makes you a bad guy. That is very wrong in my opinion. Having white skin makes me a bad guy. It’s called identity politics, but it’s more like a circular firing squad.

And it’s orchestrated by the truly guilty, the fraction of 1% that control our minds. This control is exercised mainly through the Democratic Party these days but in times past it was the Republicans.

Neoliberals have emerged in the same way that neocons emerged and like a parasite have taken over the brain and diverted it 180° opposite from it’s original purpose and identity.

How can you get the majority of peaceful people to go to war without a pearl harbor or a Gulf of Tonkin or an assassination or a 911. Can you actually create a Civil War over an issue? They can. And they work on it day and night. Rust never sleeps.  

They have all of the tools and resources. Political power, the media, money.

When Mao was losing power he used his wife to destroy a culture.  I see the Clinton’s and their backers doing basically the same thing.  Any means necessary to retain power. Even if it takes down the whole country in process.  It doesn’t matter who you sleep with. Change the laws change the religion change the family destroy the family blame the culture, blame this one and that one, it’s all justified.  

But never blame those w the big $, the ones that have no allegiance but to power and who fund your group. Through their corrupt shell game, foundation/money laundering operation.

I guess what they want more than anything else at this point is civil war. They’ve taken civil disobedience and added violence to the mix and perverted Martin Luther King Jr’s. message or dismissed it.  

But most Americans still believe it. Most Americans don’t believe in what the neo liberals are pushing.  They have seen what the neocons did to this country.  And they are not buying this divisive “movement” to further divide us, either.  

It’s been around for quite some time, three decades at least. It’s never been about uniting us. It’s never been about us. And that’s what Bernie tried  to do and did! Unite us. And look what happened to him.

The DNC has been exposed and yet they keep on going in the same direction. They are still leading the charge off this cliff. Male against female, black against white etc. And these people the majority of them are good people and couldn’t care less. So they’ve come for the children.  

Look how CNN twisted what happened and turned on these boys. Got the whole nation  up in arms against them. Now they get death threats and have been docsed.  

Can you imagine CNN calling high school kids “school shooters?”  But that’s the side CNN took.  Against kids.  These are foul, evil people at CNN. They are supposed to be journalists and they are preaching hatred against kids.

Back to the wandering off bit.  If there was a group of native Americans demonstrating or protesting or just doing something interesting wouldn’t you want to watch? Maybe you might wander off too, to see what was going on? That was the whole wish and desire of the Native Americans.  They wanted that attention. So why were the boys at fault for wanting to check it out? It was interesting. How did they know what would happen next?

But it’s so easy in this culture to pin the blame on the innocent.  And even feel good about it because you are taking up for the “poor oppressed minority.”   But not the poor, oppressed white families faltering in this climate less and less which Bernie recognized. Austerity.

It’s not good judgment, or just, to do that but that’s what happens again and again.  

This time it happened to a group of teenage Catholic boys. Who I think behaved admirably.

Who targeted them?  The minorities that everyone is so quick to embrace even if they are in the wrong. Even if they are railroading an innocent person or persons. Or a whole country.  

I will embrace them too when they realize I’m not the enemy.  I pray for them because I have more in common with them than what divides us if they only knew that we have a common enemy. As long as we are divided the problems will become worse.  Our enemies would fall in a nanosecond if we all united.  

It’s CNN’s job to make sure we don’t. That’s their real mission, and their real job. Not reporting the news. That’s what they get paid for. Hit pieces against kids. Not reporting the news. Not reporting what actually happened.  

No, this time they came after our kids.  They’ve been after them for quite some time. Along with mom and dad.  But Mom and Dad are hopefully both fully awake by now and can see what’s going on.

Granted there are a lot of people upset about the election. It’s apparent that the democratic party though, has gone too far w their rhetoric. All this about Civil War, impeachment, and every other extreme Kathy Griffin type of nastiness, isn’t that what it is? You tell me? What is it?

Trump’s approval numbers for July according to Gallup, are higher than LBJ, Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter and the same as Clinton. Depressing isn’t it?  But keep swimming.  Keep up the good fight. But be careful about unintended consequences.  

There are people that actually voted for Trump. It’s not a crime. They were exercising their rights. Now you want to bash them. I understand. One of the things that most of us realized was you can’t let anger take over your life.  You can be angry but use it in a constructive way! Our model was Gandhi civil disobedience discourse.

Also you need to look at George Soros from the other side. What they really want is a police state. They want to stifle dissent.  Which is ironic. You can’t have it both ways. You can’t call people racist who simply disagree on the way to proceed. The kind of solution on immigration etc.  I don’t care if you have the pope on your side calling people out as racists for wanting to enforce immigration laws that already exist that have existed for years in every country. Why would such a radical agenda as open borders be promoted?  Is that not a dangerous idea? Just open the borders to everyone? It would be nice if we lived in that kind of world. But there are bad guys and we don’t live in that kind of world.

There is so much wrong with the liberal agenda right now. It is diametrically opposed to historical liberalism. You hurt your cause w some  of the tactics that are used to promote your cause.

If you would do your research you would find out that Gloria Steinem worked with the CIA.  So did Nancy Pelosi. Hi Kathy, I'm sorry I upset you. We can agree to disagree? I'm sure there's a lot we agree on.

Number one we are in deep do. But we just know it now but i guess we always have been.  

They tried to kill us once already in the 60s, but somehow we fought back and we won. I wish we could have that kind of unity today. I think there's a way but we need to make certain tweaks. Remember it was all about civil disobedience and Henry David Thoreau.  Mahatma Gandhi.  Martin Luther King. Bob Dylan. And I believe that kind of a movement is still possible.  But they've taken away the music from young people and left them with Taylor Swift.  

Back then we felt that women had our backs. That's not true today. The feminist counter movement became obsessed with attacking men and advancing some strange agenda, apart from liberating women. It became part of the divide and conquer strategy.  

Every movement, is prone to a counter movement.  The countermovement is in many of these movements.  They take the energy from the movement and use it for their own devices and political purposes.  To garner support>votes>power not for the people but for themselves, those at the top of the countermovement within these movements.

There I go again.  But doesn't that make sense Kathy?  It really doesn't matter if we agree even on this. That is just one example of how we can agree to disagree and still survive. This has happened even in the church.  In every movement. Every movement that becomes a household word is fair game and a prime target to be overtaken and used and taken in a direction that it was not intended for. Sometimes the very opposite of that direction. This is true in the case of the church. The goal is to capture the heart. The closer it gets to the heart the more damage is done. If they can’t get to the heart from the inside they will destroy it from the outside as in the case of environmental assaults on our mountains and water.  

One of the tweaks I mentioned was allowing God to inform our decisions.  We have to do this first in ourselves.  We have to forgive for one thing. Remember we had Martin Luther King, a minister, a preacher a church person. Yes we do have to be careful. That’s why I say it begins in our own hearts.

I really don’t mean to preach. I just think it’s important that we allow God at least allow people who have that in their make up to exist if that is their dream to have it as a part of their solution.  

Some people feel this is an outmoded form of expression.  It certainly can be abused and a means of control which is what God does not want. To me the Lords prayer is the perfect expression of God and also Psalm 23.   But there are many more. These are just two of the ones that have had a major impact on me.  

But I recognize that even in myself there is a war going on.  So sometimes I have to step back and re-center.  When everything is working properly within and everything is in balance that is the only time I really have anything to offer.  It’s really easy to fall off the wagon though.  Trial and error.  It’s not easy to get there.  

This morning I woke up and everything was fine. Then I thought of some injury or slight and immediately my happiness was gone.   Because my focus became anger.  Yes, I do have a lot to be angry about but I can’t focus on it. And I have to forgive from my heart if I want to be happy, is what I realized.  So i’m working on it. Lol.  OK?   Hopefully I’ll change. Become more mellow, lol. Bear w me ok?  It’s important to me to get along with people care about. I understand if you need a break from this deeply flawed person. I know I’m a handful. I try to shield people from my neuroses and unpleasantness, but sometimes it gets the better of me.  I’ve always been kind of an agitator at heart.  But I will always try to make it right.  Right now I think that people just need a break from all of my drama.   That’s the message I’m giving this morning.

A decade ago Chris Hedges, the author and political commentator, published a book called American Fascists. It’s an interesting piece, written at the tail end of the turbulent Dubya administration, that contended that, within a few years, we would be faced with a Christian Fascist movement in the United States. Based on the popularity of people like Pat Robertson and the politicisation of church-goers by the neocon group that put Reagan in power, Hedges contended that the old right was a threat to American freedom and democracy.

As wonderful a wordsmith as Hedges is, he was, as usual, dead wrong. Correctly skewering the old Christian Right for their hypocrisy and often un-Christ-like behaviour is one thing. Predicting the future is quite another. If we are charitable to Hedges few could have seen how, in the decade since Bush, two terms of Obama would enable the hard left to take more social power than ever before.

In the modern age of puritanism, religion is supplanted by Neo-Marxist ideology. Intersectional Theory. Feminism. The root concept, that it is not okay to be White. You can see this everywhere you look, from the television to pop music, to politics and the popular press and sport. The arts of our ancestors speak to us, tell us about their times. Ours will do the same for future generations. Cave paintings teach us that the early humans had a mystical relationship with the animals they hunted and fled from. Renaissance pieces are filled with secrets and satire.

What will our art say about us?

In the realm of faith, the Leftist Puritan happily displays cognitive dissonance during our days of strife. It all boils down to race and religion in the end. Islam is Peace. Prayers are Worthless. Guns are Bad. I Love Big Brother.

It will stun future generations to hear that we have become such a self-hating society, riddled with such preposterous levels of self-inflicted and undeserved guilt and paranoia.

It wasn’t always like this. In 1979, the seminal comedy group Monty Python released Life of Brian. The movie revolves around a man mistaken for a messiah. The religious right was apoplectic and it was awesome.

“[Life of Brian] isn’t blasphemous because it doesn’t touch on belief at all. It is heretical because it touches on dogma and the interpretation of belief, rather than belief itself.” ~ Terry Jones

The movie mainly skewered religious hypocrisy and was so controversial at the time that it was banned in several countries and had to rely on George Harrison (of The Beatles) for funding. It remains one of the finest comedies ever produced.

On re-watching the movie recently, I was struck how mild the religious satire really is in this film. In all honesty, I found myself far more interested in the non-theological scenes.

There is a sub-plot to the film which features several Left Wing revolutionary groups all seeking to oust the Romans from Judea. These groups were analogous to hard left British groups in the late 1970s, including the then powerful trade unionists. It is almost as if our timelines are running in opposite directions. As the power of the Church has diminished, to the point where (rightly) no-one would dare attempt to ban a movie for blasphemy, the loony left has arisen, Gojira in Tokyo Harbour.

While the interminable and unending squabbling between the intersections of the left is still laughable today, it cannot be denied that it is the modern day facsimilies of Reg (John Cleese) and the People’s Front of Judea that are holding the social power. Despite everyone knowing what capitalism has done for us, still, they cry out ‘Oppression!’

Apart from a free market, advances in technology, healthcare, living standards, nearly eliminating child mortality, better food, the internet, a life expectancy of over eighty, university education for all and countless varieties of hot sauce, what has capitalism ever done for us?

Instead, these puritanical crusaders turned their attention on society itself. Internet technology has enabled us to strip monsters like Harvey Weinstein of their veils of secrecy, and therefore, their power. This marvel of communication also allows the Neo-Marxist to conduct witch-hunts and purges at speeds old Joe Stalin could only have dreamed of.

Their zealotry has claimed the scalps of numerous journalists, actors and politicians who, in the main, have all fallen on their swords rather than run the gauntlet. These men may not be nice. These men might, in fact, be criminals- but that has never been a good idea for the mob to decide. Rupert Myers, late of GQ, is a man who makes my skin crawl. Not for his alleged behaviour towards women, which seems inept but not illegal, but for his hypocrisy.

To write such a diatribe against the rest of one’s gender, to elevate oneself to the status of Enlightened Nü-Male, and then to be accused thus:

“I was very clear about not being romantically or sexually interested in him, once the subject was raised. I suggested we be mates.

“He said ‘I’ve got enough mates, I’d rather fuck you’ and forced himself on me outside a pub in Fitzrovia.”

Well. I would be a liar if I did not feel a little schadenfreude. I am wrong to do so. A failed and clumsy pass at someone is not a criminal offence, but the puritanical left is treating it like one.

Saints protect you if you live in the United Kingdom, where not only will leftist society pillory you, so will the police. Over the weekend, The Sunday Times revealed that the Deputy Prime Minister Damian Green possessed (legal) pornography on his computer. Why is this information pertinent to the public? Are we really so depraved that we must know the masturbatory habits of politicians? If so, why? In any case, the police released it to the press.

The minister has also been pilloried for allegedly touching a woman’s knee.We can be sure that Green will be forced to resign, unable to continue in his career with sucha tarnished public image.

Let’s not ignore that corrupt, incompetent or sleazy politicians must fall. With such incredible levels of vice in politics in our nations, how is it that this non-issue is plastered across the papers?

I thought this was supposed to be a post-morality, post-faith, post-conservative post-everything age of rampant consumerism and meaningless sex.

Instead, Netflix TV shows are used as examples of a religious theocracy that doesn’t exist. Wow, the asinine Twitterati bleat in unison, this is just like Trump’s America.

It is not. A totalitarian mindset exists in America, for sure. I must also state that the genuinely corrupt who are toppling, the genuine sex-criminals and paedophiles and rapists and money-launderers- spare them no sympathy. They are reaping their own whirlwind, caught up in their pretence at righteousness. The totalitarians are those who are now purging their movements of male feminist allies for thought crime. Journalists who stood for identity politics are now the victims of the same.

I wonder how long it will be before Dan ‘Everyone is A Literal Nazi’ Arel is toppled from his perch. In the current climate, could it be that his social media stalking of pop has-been Lily Allen transgresses the invisible line of sin?

No doubt a self proclaimed anarchist like Arel already prays to Black Atheist Trans Jesus for forgiveness for his disgusting white penis. It is not enough today, in 2017, the current year, to merely hate yourself for being a white man. You must also hate the words you say, constantly self-reflect, ensure you keep your eyes down and touch nobody, not even in jest or error.

Such behavioural abnormality is non-PC. Such behaviour demands that you be flayed in public, to lose your livelihood. This is how puritans project their power. Shame is how they maintain control. We have moved beyond expanding the definition of words so that one can be raped by eyesight or by flatulence. We are now in an era where all actions are sinful. There is no escaping the shame. You are born in it, surrounded by it, you are the sin itself. It is, dare I say it, original in nature.

Considering so many of these leftists proclaim themselves anarchists but act like dictators, I offer my own favoured anarchy.

The Dhaka Dilemma: A Formula for Decision Making

My phone alarm buzzes obnoxiously at 5:32 am and I just…don’t want to. I mean who really does, unless you’re doing some 4am challenge or you’re a regular in God’s house. Me? I’m neither #guiltyascharged But, it is the second Friday after the new moon (pagan rituals, much?) and that means here in the Dhaka Jamatkhana there are special prayers offered and more importantly (as if purity and forgiveness weren’t enough) there’s breakfast today!

At 5:37am, neither forgiveness nor unda roti sounds all that great, but I drag myself up and trek the whole 20-second route to salvation. Post prayers, I make my way past the deliciously green garden at the center of the upstairs floor to the foyer by the grand staircase where tables are set up and breakfast is being served.

The sunlight floods in, its heat kept in check by the cool breeze of a Dhaka December. I grab a cup of steaming, sugar-free Jamatkhana chai and take a seat among the aunties and senior citizens of the community – some of whom are my best friends here. Aunty C and I discuss her upcoming trip to the States, Aunty D gets up to grab some more toast, her parents are seated across the table, dad happily munching on a bowl cornflakes garnished with sliced almonds before moving on to his eggs and toast. My blood rushes as a feeling of fondness overtakes me.

To my left, TB Aunty shudders and wonders if the air con is on, and her husband, with a scarf wrapped around his neck, looks at the empty spot on the table in front of me and asks if he can grab me some breakfast. Between the two of them they are probably 160 years old.

In this instant, with the quiet buzzing of voices, the smell of freshly cooked omelets, and the feeling of being amongst people with whom I feel at peace, I am overcome with joy - the kind of joy that makes my heart want to burst, the one that opens its floodgates to me when I am absolutely in the present, fully aware of how incredible it is that I am not only alive, but living, in every sense of the word.

Moments like this have been frequent during my time here in Dhaka - they happen everywhere, at any time: yesterday, when I caught the sunlight streaming onto the multicolored carpet in my study, last month when the aunties and I spontaneously snuck away to Star Kabab after khane to down our second and third cups of chai, last week when I rode on a rickshaw, awestruck by the canopy of trees above my head, when my doorbell rings because someone has thought to send me a freshly cooked meal from their kitchen. Again and again and again, I feel a joy and happiness – a deep appreciation - that is almost unmatched in its height and regularity; you might compare it to being in love.

So yesterday, when the question of further extending my contract arose once again, you’d think it would have be a no-brainer for me to say yes to staying here longer, right? How can something that yields this level of positive emotion and growth and is such an enriching experience be something I would even consider leaving behind?

Because without a doubt, I know that Dhaka is not right for my future. My values, what I necessarily prioritize and need in my life are in the US. My family, my friends, even my comfort level (something I long to be reacquainted with before I inevitably leave it again for discomfort and growth #storyofmylife) are all things I do not want to sacrifice in the long term.

But the question of staying in Dhaka forever is not really what’s on the table – that’d be easy. Instead, it’s, “Stay a little longer, yes?” My original assignment was from February to September, it then got pushed to December (as in next month), and then June, and now again the offer is being continued to December 2018. Thus far, the extension has been an easy choice: the attitude is a whimsical “why not” and the rationale is, “What’s another few months? I’m having a good time, it’s a good experience, and there’s not much else going on, so what is the harm in it? Especially if it makes me so happy.”

But as my time here grows longer, questions arise. (And, as always, these can be extrapolated to all areas of life: friendships, relationships, career choices, etc.) How do you know when something that isn’t right for your future should come to an end in your present? When is it the right time to let go and move on? When does the present become the future? And how likely is it that your present joy will ruin your future joy? Guys…what’s the expiry date???

As a teen, when life dilemmas presented themselves, I found guidance and inspiration in the words of my main man, MSMS. “Life is a great and noble calling,” he says, “not a mean and groveling thing to be shuffled through as best we can, but a lofty and exalted destiny.”

This and his “Philosophy of Happiness” have largely shaped the way I live and approach my life: I seek great, I seek noble, I seek lofty and exalted. I look UP. Life is short and it is meant to be filled with heart-expanding emotions. We are meant to be more than alive, we are meant to live, like actually, full-out live. Even when it’s scary, even when it hurts or is hard, and especially, especially, when it brings happiness and joy. I have found that living this way engages my spirit and it is my connection to the Divine more than praying and service ever could be.

Now in my thirties, I live this more consciously and with less fear: I know how to use this guidance responsibly, it’s gotten me this far safely and as my brother once said in defense of my choices, “she doesn’t have a tear-drop shaped tattoo under her eye and her arms are free of track marks, so, she’s okay.”

Let’s turn this guidance into a formula and use contract extensions an example (feel free to  adapt to your own dilemma):

How did I know the second time my contract got extended (over summer) that I would be okay until next June? How did I know that leaving this December would have been too soon, too unsatisfying?

Because before summer, the joy of being here still far outweighed the sadness and longing of being away from home.

Why am I hesitating to give my word for next December?

You guessed it: because the scales are beginning to shift. In this moment, I feel both joy but also noticeably more sadness.

Fortunately, I have a pretty good track record when it comes to making smart decisions. What’s my process? Simple. I ask myself two questions: 

1. What is the joy/pain balance? 

2. Am I hurting myself or anyone else?  

And the most important factor: call it privilege, luck, perspective, being smart, following the Farman (Chicago 2008?), or whatever you want, but I always have an exit strategy, the freedom to leave as soon as the balance tips too far in the wrong direction. If the freedom isn’t there, I don’t involve myself in the circumstance.

Let’s expand on this process/formula:

Joy/Pain Balance: Don’t make a move in anticipation of an inevitable end. Stay in the moment. Obviously, at some point the balance will tip and my need to be home will outweigh the desire to be here in Dhaka. But is that day today? No. So I don’t worry about it. No tear-drop tattoo under my eye means that when the time is right, I will know. Until then, I live up the exalted destiny I’ve been given.

Hurt: How do I know if I’m hurting Dhaka? I ask and I gauge. Dhaka, are we doing okay? You need anything from me? Happy with my work? Yeah? Great, love you, too. We tease each other about a future together, but in the end, we both know our time is limited; for now, I am enough and so are they.

How do I know if I’m hurting my other values (home)? I ask. “No (insert pet name), we’re doing fiiiiiine, everything’s greatttttt, okay sooo Zainablovesyougottagobyeeee.” They lie, of course. But they also know that being here speaks to my values as well, that we talked about this: what it means to leave, to stay the course, to extend, why I took this path and what my actions are in service of, and that this “of” is often my highest value, tempered only by the fact that I am human and have bonds. Otherwise, if it’s an emergency, I always have my exit strategy card ready.

How do I know if I’m hurting my future self? When I was a freshman in college, totally naïve and green to everything, I switched my major – against everyone’s advice – to English Literature and Religion Studies. I have often cited it as one of the best decisions I have ever made; it made me happy then and it set the stage for my future, which, hello I couldn’t be happier with. When I was wandering the streets (of my middle class neighborhood, relax) one year out of college and clueless about life, my intuition pointed me towards teaching, despite this never having occurred to me before. And again, even though I had to fight through the disappointment and skepticism of my family and friends, sit through lectures from everyone around me (how will you support yourself? This is not a smart choice, poor income, are you sure you don’t want to go to law school, etc, etc), not to mention multiple rejections along the way, I pursed it anyway. Am I hurt from this major life decision that my past-self made for the future me? Far from it.

I can give you example after example, but instead, I’ll give you the rule:

Kids: follow what you love, know yourself, be honest, and make your choice with confidence. I trust myself completely, and while this small truth often makes it difficult to explain my outward actions or to justify my choices or to prove my understanding of timing, intuition, and right and wrong to others, it has never failed ME. And while it sucks when others don’t trust you as much as you trust yourself (I’d reference the blog I wrote about this but I never pushed post #annoyed), don’t be discouraged! In my experience, this is something people learn about me over time (often after underestimating me) even though it’s actually the reason they fall in love with me in the first place (they just don’t realize it). Be patient, and know that at the end of the day, its you and you, baby.

And that’s it…tadaaaaaa!

cant we all just get along?

ive come back from a relaxing week away in Wilsons Prom to see this blow up once again. every day there's people posting hate/fear posts about Trump, racist/russia/sexist, the list is endless... yet when i post one simple statement of saying people should finally move on and let the man do his job, i get the total opposite in such nasty depth, i cbf'd reading through all the hate, the attacks, the bullshit derailing semantics, the intellectual stabs and in relentless volume, this is still going after a week - move on already ffs! in the end it just gets everyone more angry, upset & divided which wasnt my point, quite the contrary... my point was to simply move on from all this hate bullshit and accept reality but it's clear the next 4 years are going to be possibly the roughest in the history of american politics, and in turn creating more a separation and unrest globally... but i have faith we can all get along eventually...

it's shouldnt be about being right or wrong, it's about having an opinion and expressing yourself regardless what others may think, it's all perspective and how you see things personally... it's also about knowing when to stop smashing your head against the wall in this pointless online exercise... if anything these online debates have proven there's a massive divide in society nowadays, up there with cold war times and rising towards the peak of anti communism, neither side is willing to see where the other is coming from, particularly the left as they tend to be more stubborn / arrogant...

ive already lost many associates and even close friends from sharing my opinions, which is simply how i see things... people shouldnt hold a grudge or judge someone based on bullshit like this, if you are friends and have respect for each other, you should be able to look beyond the details you dont agree with, that's the basis of connection, of respect and deep bonds that shouldnt be so easily broken. unfortunately this idea which i thought was common practice is disappearing fast, people are choosing their moral stance or feel violated in someway that they stick to their tribe/collective that supports their beliefs, and if that means losing friends, even close ones you hold dear to your heart, then so be it... we are all so unique and with our own experiences shape us, so not one person can possibly be the same from every perspective... heck if i started to hold a grudge against everyone i know for their music/film/political/sexual/religious views, i would have no friends, as would everyone im quite certain!

this is the real downfall with the de-evolution of society nowadays... with so much war, fear mongering via mainstream media, consumerism, comparison to others, grass is always greener, more greed, more debt, more unease, less freedom, less expression, less exploration, we are on the brink of a global civil war... it shouldnt be hard to work out we are all humans, 1 race, not donkeys and snakes, but blacks, whites, hispanic, asian, muslim, euro, whatever the fuck you are, we are still all human genetically. so why are we fighting so much? why cant we all just get along? why is the divide get greater and greater?

after someone like Trump who comes into power out of left field, majority are triggered and cant deal with reality anymore, syntax error, their safe space is broken and there's not enough playdough or pet therapy to be able to cope with the fact that he speaks his mind, says the occasional out of line thing, who takes some hard lines on certain areas, but ultimately most of Trump's supporters believe he has the best interest of america as his priority. not like the last 20 years or so of bullshit power playing politics, inter family control & game playing, deception at the highest level in years.

if you want to really look at a problem, look at how Obama royally fucked everything, more debt than every president combined before him. more people on food stamps than ever before. funded and created isis, which in turned has destroyed libiya and now syria with over half a million people killed & millions displaced creating out refugee problem... obamacare made healthcare unaffordable for low to middle class, doubling in price after a short period in some states & having no other healthcare alternative... drone strikes became a huge thing while he was in power... not to mention TPP and many other global elite initiatives to line the pockets of the rich & forget and the working man...

yet no one is talking about this catastrophe that Obama left behind, why? has the media got such a stronghold with their mind control and propaganda that you arent able to think for yourself anymore? i think msm has a big part of dictating what people think and what they oppose to suit their agenda. even if you dont directly follow msm but majority are still within it's grasp cause of how social media distributes this information & how people interact offline, which slowly ingests into your psyche & takes over. mind control 101. oh but Obama has got such a great smile & is so charming, how could he do anything wrong!? that's how many see him, which is why Trump honest approach is such a contrast to Obama's deceptive ways and intellectual lawyer talk, twisting words into riddles, suggesting something without directly blaming someone...

Hillary was the worst choice for the DNC, majority agree with that, she would've picked up where Obama left off and fucked it royally for the next 4 years, 10 fold, cause she and her cronies are the definition of evil. i am quite certain in a short space of time something staged would happen and we would be with war with russia, which meant ww3, which meant us australians would be conscripted. so i thought it was vital to speak out about this potential disaster and be open to someone like Trump who i hated initially as well, due to my limited knowledge of his regime & personality. if she didnt rig the votes for sanders he wouldve been a more competitive opponent to Trump, instead it was a landslide...

independent thinking is becoming extinct, being an individual like what was happening in the 60s and 70s is out style and now taboo. people are forced to conform to the safety of the latest political correctness update, to ensure no one is offended, left out or miss-labelled. people like my friend Jean-Claude Esteller dont give a shit about these rules, and there's nothing wrong with that, in fact like Trump i respect him more for speaking his mind with no filter, even if i dont agree with everything he says and his tone. if you cant tolerate how someone speaks, walk away, hide the post or unfollow the person, simple. no need to make such a fuss about how someone expresses themselves, that is their right. this unfiltered way of thinking, talking and acting is what got Trump into power, majority of the states agree & voted him in cause they respect someone who is willing to speak their mind, not play the pc safe game that society has created and now expect. they wanted change and they got it.

it's a real shame things have come to such a breaking point. the only way we have to move forward in a positive path is to become one again. there's a thing called collective consciousness and even if you arent spiritual, most will admit we are somehow all connected. consciousness has been proven to exist and science acknowledges this, yet they cant prove it exists... at times like this when society is so angry and divided, it's hard to see that we are all on this earth for the same reason, and to get along, be in a collective harmony of love and respect, rather than hate and isolation/separation. we have converted back to primal ways with tribe mentality. everyone grouping together and taking out the minority who dont conform to the collective way of thinking/acting/speaking. we have become more like our former primate form, behaviour of monkeys and other primates prove this is how they still behave. since many feel like their morals and way of life have been threatened, without even realising we are reverting to this tribe mentality for survival... when in fact we should get back on track to the evolved form of homosapiens, not just intelligent and process/technology driven, but intuitive, love and compassion, global unity... so we as a species can survive the pending doom if we continue on this path of destruction of mother earth and separation to the point of extinction of the human race...

if we do manage to slowly become one and work together to help the planet, be self sufficient without natural resources, help each other and love one another, we could actually evolve into a higher level of consciousness like never before, the next evolution from our primal state... i strongly believe that this will be the only way we survive the next 10000 years, even the next 10-20 years with how things are constantly crumbling, a critical shift has to occur. we all can play our part since we are all connected, by being good to one another, sharing and helping others, focus on healing yourself and overcoming past trauma and blocks/triggers that affect your daily life, avoid worries from the past and future that keep you from being present and more free without these restrictions. love over hate, forgiveness over resentment & retaliation, affection and generosity rather than greed and isolation...
