You’ve probably posted about this before but I haven’t seen it…I am interested to hear an Elriel take on the “something sparked in just chest” line from the acosf bonus chapter. That language has been used by Sarah to describe the feelings between mates multiple times in her books. Why is this time different in your opinion?

Hi Anon, this is actually a really good question.

So as an elriel, I do know that my opinions might seem hella biased here but I’ll try to keep a neutral standpoint and be 100% honest with my thought process.

I actually haven’t posted about this whole sequence or this specific line yet so this will be the first. I might as well cover the whole thing.

Let’s start with reading the whole piece:

So Azriel woke up. It’s the morning after solstice, the morning after the slap in the face that was the “You will stay away from Elain” line. Instead of taking the necklace back to the jewelers on the square, he decided to descend the steps of the House. To the library.

Given the context of the initial line before the “spark” line, I think that Az was feeling some type of relief that Clotho agreed, essentially saying “yes, I will give it to her. She will be happy to have it, she deserves it.” (Kind of like an “oh thank god” moment.)

A spark of positivity to Clotho heeding his request at his insistence of giving it away. A spark of positivity in someone else having it. A spark of some mixed emotion rather, perhaps? It was definitely an emotion, but it’s been kept vague for us to determine. We don’t necessarily know if it is indeed positive or negative. Hell, we don’t even know if Az knows. (I’m thinking he doesn’t given it’s his POV and it’s referred to as “something”)

I personally don’t think it was romantically charged or magical in any type of way. I don’t think it had anything to do with the lightsinger theory either, at least not this specific spark line. Not with the current context.

Now this may seem far fetched but I think that Azriel came down with the intention of giving the necklace away, namebombing Gwyn in the process because she was the first person he ran into immediately after the fiasco. Of course she’d be the first person he thought of who just so happened to live in the library.

But even then, Azriel didn’t truly care who got the necklace, so long as it was taken off of his hands.

Observe:

“Look, I…” Az searched for the words, his voice becoming quiet. “If there’s another priestess here who might appreciate it, give it to them. But I’m not taking that necklace with me when I leave.”

He just wanted the necklace gone. Away from him. But you may ask, well why didn’t he just return it to the jewelers then?

If I put myself in Az’s shoes, taking into consideration how he sees himself and how he generally is, my thought process would be something like this:

“I’d rather someone have it than no one.”

“At least someone could put it to use.”

“I don’t want to return it, it’d be a waste.”

If I took that necklace back to the jewelers, I’d feel worse. It’d be humiliating. Not to mention the idea of, “if she doesn’t want it, and it hurts me too much to keep it, perhaps someone else could find better use for it.” That’s what it was, I think, that motivated him to give it away.

And so he did.

He left the library thinking of her reaction to getting the necklace and her eyes lighting up. Because it made him feel better to know that someone else would feel joy in receiving the gift with no strings attached. Thats why he explicitly stated that he wants the gift to be anonymously given.

And this small detail that I see a lot make note of:

“Buried the image down deep, where it glowed quietly.”

When anything is described with the words “glow” and “quietly” together, I think of a soft glow, and a soft glow is typically something of comfort or provides comfort.

The image of someone’s joy in receiving a gift that he’s at a loss to do with comforts him. Gwyn or not, I think it’d be the same.

As for this particular spark line being related to other SJM couples in the ACOTAR universe as well as ToG and CC, I’m aware of its presence in all series. I’m aware of its weight that it holds and what it has eluded to before.

However…

This is a bonus chapter.

This is a bonus chapter from a limited edition version of ACoSF that cannot be bought anymore— that was then available to US only.

Most casual readers are unaware of this chapter’s existence. I know I was unaware until I stumbled upon ship discourse online. I read the books by myself then got online to see the fandom.

I was wondering “why ship Azriel with Gwyn??? That’s so random.” So I literally had to search online for this chapter after seeing mentions of a bonus chapter. I read it off of a google doc 😂.

Here’s the thing. Since this is an exclusive bonus chapter, SJM would not set up a whole new ship in it. Not to mention it’d seem rather sudden given what little moments we’ve seen of Azriel and Gwyn in each other’s presence that were worth the page space.

And also the specific “he wouldn’t go so far as to call Gwyn a friend” comment in the chapter. I don’t think anything’s been set up. That supposed spark, I think, was just to show his mixed emotions about giving the necklace away.

And if it was in fact romantically charged, why put it in such an exclusive bonus chapter? I think it should’ve been a pivotal moment for all to see.

So that’s my current state of thinking. If I dawn upon anything else I’ll probably post about it and reblog this. I know I am most likely going to post about Az’s Shadows and their behaviors, at least what I think on them and how they revolve around Mor, Gwyn, Elain and music. Same thing with a Thing of Secret, Lovely Beauty. I’m still confused about that. Theres a million different takes for that.

But I hope this gives you some sort of answer that at least made sense? Lol.

a/n: hi besties!! i wrote this on my phone because i can’t find my laptop charger so please excuse any sort of typos you find! thats also why the beginning of this post currently isn’t formatted like the other ones but soon as i can charge my laptop i’ll be fixing it. there will be a part three to this! i had to find a good place to end or else this would have been a beast to read lol.

ps. when i wrote this i was 100% imagining white tank top!jj and emily in the burgundy lululemon looking sweatshirt from the episode where they’re building the crib for kristy and matt ;)

you couldn’t contain your excitement as you basically tripped over your feet to run up to jj’s audi, jumping up and down in your seat as you waited for your girlfriends to join you. it was five minutes past nine and everyone was ready so naturally you ran to the car. you had been ready for two hours, but that was only because you had gotten up so early. you had everything you could possibly need in your little cross shoulder body bag and had to stop yourself from biting your fingernails to the quip in pure excitement as you waited. emily came out first, slipping you your preferred chewy necklace that was easy to hide under your shirt. as soon as the chewy end of it entered your mouth, emily’s hands reached around you and wrapped the black string around your neck. without realizing it you naturally leaned into her touch, pulling her hand toward your cheek as you fidgeted with the hem of your shirt while you stared at the door leading inside the kitchen. jj came out a few minutes later, her to-go cup of coffee tucked neatly away in the crook of her arm as she started to pull up the directions to the zoo.

jj slid into the drivers seat with ease, smiling at you as she saw the way you were sitting. she grabbed your hand and gave it a squeeze before placing your phone in it, chuckling lightly at the layer of blush that ended up on your cheeks as you sheepishly took it from her. your block blast game was still up on the screen as you left it on the bathroom counter when you started doing your makeup. jj started the car and reversed out the driveway, leaving you to become reimmersed in your game. before you knew it you could just start see the sign for the zoo on the water tower peeking over the houses in the distance, meaning you were just about ten minutes away.

“lovey, besides seeing the giraffes, is there anything you want to do today?”

“um… i haven’t seen the elephants in a long time.” you paused, thinking. “and also the lions, i want to see the lions too.”

“do you think we could fit in a visit to the lemurs?” jj shot a glance to you. “i quite like lemurs.”

you nodded. “we can definitely see the lemurs.”

you made a mental note to yourself that jj liked lemurs, adding it to the little box that you had in your brain with facts about your girlfriends. it was mainly filled with silly little facts that most people wouldn’t normally pay attention to, like the fact emily writes in print script or that jj only eats salt and vinegar chips when she’s high. sure, there were the obvious facts that almost everyone on the team knew, but there were ones that were just your facts. and you wanted to keep them that way.

despite being a fully grown adult, you knew deep down that things like this were needed to help heal your inner child. you didn’t have the best childhood, but you were doing your best to fix it now. you bounced anxiously on the balls of your feet as you waited for the train to take you to the back of the zoo, the wind blowing your hair all around your face as you waited. jj silently pulled you toward her and helped you pull your hair back, putting it in a single braid for you.

by the time you got to the giraffe exhibit you could barely contain your excitement, your hands balling into fits and promptly unballing themselves as you tried to combat the need to stim. your arms stiffened as you tried to hold back your energy, shaking a bit as you focused on staying still as you could. that didn’t last long, seeing as there wasn’t many people around you at the moment and your girlfriends were positioned behind you. you let your hands start flapping, doing your best to keep them close to your sides as possible. a small squeak of noise came out of your mouth as you watched the zoo keepers slowly bring out the stars of the event. the crowd around you started to grow as the people made their way up from the front of the zoo, most of them not paying you any attention and instead looking for the little baby that the zoo was celebrating.

slowly but surely the calf made it's way out of the enclosure, still a little unsteady on it's feet. you watched in awe as it made it's way around the exhibit, noting how small it was compared to it's parents. jj wrapped her arms around you from behind, intertwining her fingers with your hands and placing a kiss on your shoulder. you could tell she was standing on her tip toes to reach your shoulder and made sure to flatten your feet, considering you tended to stay on your tip toes when you got too excited about things.

“how tall do you think he is?”

“i’d guesstimate around 6 feet.” you rocked up and back down to flat feet as you spoke. “giraffes give birth standing up so they fall roughly six feet to the ground but get up on their feet within the hour.”

“you know more about giraffes than i thought.”

“i had a hyperfixation on wild animals and the care of them before i ended up in the academy. i was wanting to double major in zoology and communications before i started to look into paths to go down with a communications degree.” you turned to face jj and emily. “i was going to be an advocate for animal rights but then i started reading about the fbi and decided that would probably be a better path to go down.”

before you could continue your thoughts, the chime that sounded before the giraffe feedings sounded, signaling for everyone who had a ticket to line up. you were closer to the end, whch was fine because it meant you could watch the giraffes for longer. emily and jj made sure to take pictures of you the whole time, smiling and laughing along with you as the giraffe’s tongue tickled your hand while it ate the leaves you held out. by the time you got out of the exhibit, your stomach started to rumble and you pouted towards your girlfriends as you walked past one of the many cafés scattered around the zoo. without a word, emily pulled the three of you inside, telling you to order whatever you wanted. you ended up going for the chicken tenders and fries, knowing that the meal was something you most likely would have gotten when you came as a child. it was hard to remember if you ever came, but you presumed it was what you got because it felt right.

by the time the three of you made it to the halfway point, you started to realize your whole body was beginning to hurt. you weren’t sure if it was from physically stopping yourself from stimming in the bigger crowds, or if it was from all the walking you had done. either way, you found yourself starting to slow down a bit and start to feel like you needed a ten hour nap. it was only when you got toward the lemur exhibit when your body really started to hurt, and you unintentionally started to let it slip into your mind that you were hurting and needed to go home.

jj was the first to notice that you were starting to feel off, clocking the heaviness of your walking and the fact you had started to get a little whiney. there had been approximately three times in the five years she had known you that she had ever seen you this way. and all of those times happened when you were over exerting yourself. most of the times it was because you were stubborn, but this time it didn’t seem that way. within ten minutes you were complaining about how much your feet hurt and how you felt like you were going to die if you didn’t get to sit down within the next five minutes. emily and jj fell a few steps behind you, whispering to each other about how to go about the situation.

“do you think she’s subconsciously wanting us to.. i dunno, take control? lacey mentioned something about that at the support group on saturday.”

jj chewed at the end of her necklace. “it's possible. i’m willing to try it if you are, but the second they push back or show any signs of not going along with it i’m stopping.”

“are you going to take the lead on this?”

“if you don’t mind. we know how easily they’ll react to you, i’m curious what would happen if you didn’t say anything but i did.”

“then do it. i trust you.”

jj squeezed emily’s hand before making her way back over to where you sat on the bench, watching the zebra walk by and graze on the grass in front of you. you definitely looked worse for wear, considering the braid your hair had been in all day was beginning to come undone and you most definitely got sunburned on your shoulders at some point. jj knew you weren’t feeling well, and that you were hiding it in order to appease her and emily. it was something she had noticed multiple times throughout their time with you so far. even if you didn’t feel like doing something, you typically would put on a happy face and go through with it anyway. it hadn’t happened much, but she had started to catch it more and more.

“y/n, it’s time to go.”

“what? no!” you gasped. “we haven’t even been to the polar bears yet!”

“i know, and i know you want to finish it but i’m calling it.” jj stepped closer to you, her voice dropping. “you’re tired and need to go home and rest. i’m giving you til the count of five, and if you don’t get up and come with us to the car we won’t go to dolphin beach this weekend.”

“you wouldn’t!”

“five.”

“jayje- this isn’t fair! em-my, do something!” you whined, staring at the brunette.

“two.” jj raised an eyebrow as you refused to budge. “fine, we stay, but no beach then.”

“i’d listen to her if i were you.” emily replied. “while we haven’t truly gotten into that dynamic with you just yet, i will say that i’d be careful how much you go against her, lovey.” emily gave you a pointed look before clasping her hands together. “that being said, we use the color system. red means hard stop, yellow means i’m uncomfortable and green means go.” emily paused. “color?”

“green.”

“good. if anything changes, tell jj. i’m going to go to the ladies room, i’ll meet you up by the gates.”

emily placed a kiss on jj’s cheek and simply patted you on the shoulder before walking towards the front of the zoo, leaving you alone with the blonde. the logical part of your brain knew she was right. you were tired, your body was aching and you couldn’t walk for more than five minutes without having to sit down. but on the other hand, you were having fun poking the bear. reluctantly you got up, huffing and making a big deal of going home. you didn’t understand much about the way it was making you feel, but you knew it sent a tingle through your body seeing jj getting all worked up. it was amusing to you how red she got from you simply being a brat. and frankly, you liked it.

“you’re being unfair!”

“this attitude stops now, y/n. we’re going home.”

you bit your tongue cheekily, a glint forming in your eyes as you waited to see jj’s reaction. “mommy, you’re being mean to me.”

jj whipped her head to you, balling her hand into a fist at the side of her body. “what did you just call me?”

“… mommy?”

jj stopped walking suddenly, causing you to bump into her. “red.” she swallowed. “i’d like to talk about that later, when we’re home. not right now.”

“i’m sorry.” you looked at the ground, mortified. “it won’t happen again.”

a wave of guilt overtook your body as you two quietly walked to the front of the zoo, emily sensed some tension the second she saw you two, but knew that if she said anything you would probably start to spiral. by the time you got back to the car, all you could do was slip into the backseat and hope that jj wasn’t do mad at you that she was going to end everything. emily, albeit confused, took the front seat, trying to get an accurate read on jj. something happened while she was in the bathroom, but she couldn’t place a finger on what exactly that something was. by the time jj pulled into the driveway, the tension in the car had gotten so thick you couldn’t hold your tears back, letting them fall slowly down your cheeks as you forced yourself not to sob.

“go to our room. i’m going to compose my thoughts, give us a minute to calm down, then i’ll come talk to you.”

“o-okay.”

jj waited until you got out of the car to look at emily. “i called red.”

“what happened?”

“she called me mommy. i didn’t like it. i felt… gross. it was almost… too feminine?” jj looked at emily. “i probably sound crazy but-“

“you’re allowed to not like the way it makes you feel, jay.”

“i just don’t understand why it made my skin crawl.”

“may i.. is that why you don’t like being called beautiful or pretty?”

jj’s head snapped up. “huh?”

“the feminine terms. you don’t like them.”

“not necessarily, no.”

AAAAAAND WERE BACK with more Subway to Stardew silliness NSNNDD.

Thank you to the folks over at @subwaytostardew for making this wonderful mod and letting me make silly art about it lol.

In any case time for some headcannon nonsense.

If Stardew Valley were to have a box legendary I think it would be Cresselia. It's literally Lunar pokemon and represents the crescent moon so it being the patron legendary of Stardew Valley just makes a lot of sense to me. Also Cresselia is underrated NSNDN.

Maybe there would be a secret special encounter for Darkrai. (the other half of it and Cresselia's duo but is a mythical for some reason?)

Also the Lunar wing would be very neat item to have in-game ANSNDND.

If it were to exist within the mod I imagine the farmer would be like "oooo shiny feather. Maybe it's a pokemon feather? Emmet/Ingo would probably like it :D" so then they make it into a necklace, or maybe just give it to one of them outright without knowing what it is. So Emmet/Ingo sees it and just starts freaking the hell out cause their crush/friend just gave them a piece of a literal legendary pokemon meanwhile the farmer is just....clueless NSNDND.

Now onto some of the other characters.

As basically the resident nurse joy of Pelican Town I think Harvey would have some pokemon common in the medical field. Though, pokemon like Chansey and Audino don't really fit his whole "whiskey neat, coffee black, bed at three"/ref vibes so I thought Indeedee would be best NSNDNND.

I also decided to give some pokemon to the characters mentioned within my ask.

Willy is very fond of water types, clearly NSNS. Specifically fish pokemon like Lanturn, Seaking, Whiscash, Wishiwashi, or Dondozo. (Though his actual team probably has a good chunk of pokemon that are still water type just not fish lmao) The crowning jewel of his collection is a shiny Magikarp he fished up. Maybe one day it will evolve, but for now it just swims around the docks next to his house entertaining anyone that visits.

He also has a Bibarel. (which I imagine is the grown up version of that one Bidoof that snuck into Pelican Town) It acts more like an overgrown housecat than a battle ready pokemon but it is incredibly bulky so ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯.

Morris also has a few pokemon of his own. Most of which he keeps at home. But his main two he's seen with is a Gimmighoul and a Gumshoos. (IDK he just has Gumshoos vibes to me NSNDNND) They run around Joja pickpocketing people's gold cause Morris is just a dick like that.

"It's Wizard time mother fucker, FIREBALL-"/ref

Wizard likes psychic types, but I like to think he also has a fondness for fairy types too. Also, most of em has at least one strong fire type move just so he has an excuse to yell "fireball" and blast something NSND. His Malamar is named Illithid (a wack squid monster guy from DnD lol)

Sandy likes rock types, given that she lives in a desert it's probably the only type of pokemon she sees on the daily lol. She also has a key stone on her earring. With how colorful a keystone is when compared to sand I think she would be the most likely to find one there. Idk exactly if she'd mega evolve an Aerodactyl or a Tyranitar, if any pokemon at all. But I think she'd carry it around regardless. It's pretty :]

Also she has a shiny Rockruff. I don't rly have an explanation for that one I think it just fits the vibe lol.

And now, shenanigans.

Emmet then proceeds to grab the child and just.... speed walk away HSBBDBDJJR.

That's all I have for now, I'll probably throw some other pokemon at the bachelorettes and other bachelors another time but this alone took a solid week due to finals 😭/lh

12. How does their mythic path synergize with their personality - does it augment it, or is it in contrast? Something in-between?

aeon definitely highlights certain aspects of his personality in... not the greatest ways! it ends up making him one of the worst versions of himself once all's said and done <3

Luthais as a whole is really defined by his desire for control and that particular aspect of the aeon path is part of what makes it so attractive to him, but he goes from just wanting agency in his own life for once + overcompensating for his crippling self doubt to really, deeply, genuinely believing that he is the only one who can see things as they truly are, let alone solve what needs solving. it's a gradual slip and slide into this totalitarian way of thinking, and it starts with this little number in act 3 right here

the aeon in the mirror enabling his inner control freak does NOT do him any favors!!

14. What about another mythic path that they did not take? Is there one that would fit them, build or personality wise, and what might that have looked like?

oh boy...

HAHA this is actually something I've given a lot of thought! something I'm sure I've said about a thousand times (and I will say it again!!!) is that Luthais is a mirror of the events and people around him. he has a strong presence and sense of self but he also, almost subconsciously, shapes himself to fit the expectations and assumptions other people have for him

that being said, I've come to the consensus that the stars could align and I could see him being tempted down nearly every path EXCEPT. probably. trickster. it's just so strongly antithetical to aeon and his own personality that I can't do the mental gymnastics to justify it. angel is also a hard sell considering the baggage he has around Iomedae. gold dragon... is just hard to picture. but 7/10 isn't bad! he has the RANGE!!

azata is the one I think about for him the most! next to demon, it's probably one of the easiest jumps for him, as funny as that is to say. somewhere deep... DEEP down... he has a little bit of whimsy. he wouldn't have a completely drastic shift in personality by any means, but he'd be having a slightly better time than he does as aeon. his RBF would relax a little. he might even smile more than once a week 🥺

demon is a likely alternative too though. he has a maybe not surprising amount of repressed rage? aren't you tired of being nice, etc, but he'd also be self destructive and out of control and thus be deeply, horribly miserable :(

lich and swarm would both come from his morbid curiosity and general resentment for his situation being left unchecked. he's a scientist and a petty bitch first and second!

devil COULD come about in the right circumstances, and most likely through aeon > devil over going azata first. he typically frowns on using his position to his own benefit but he does do it when he thinks it's justified, and ain't that just a slippery slope...

16. How well do they play mechanically with their romance, if any? If not, which party member do they synchronize best with?

well. I LIKE to think they fight well together, but my knowledge on how to build effective characters in the pathfinder system is mid at best, so who knows really LOL

I'm running Luthais as a blood kineticist this playthrough with a focus on using kinetic blade over ranged blasts, but I keep changing my mind and respecing him back and forth. what I picture in my mind and like aesthetically vs what works better mechanically does not always align </3

BUT Daeran's on a wolf pet with dual rapiers, so for now they're both usually in melee, and I slapped them both with the half of the pair necklaces to capitalize on that. from what I remember they were taking down enemies pretty quickly together when I was rolling through the ivory sanctum on core

Daeran's obviously the main support but Luthais can throw out a kinetic heal for him in a pinch. they keep each other alive really well and dish out enough damage between the two of them (and Growlfrey the wolf, of course) that I do tend to keep them on the same enemies as a pair!

I do wish the kinetic blade got attacks of opportunity to take advantage of the wolf trip, but I usually have at least one or two other melee within reach anyway to delete the enemy's health bar when they stand up... and it's even better when they start piggybacking off each other's crits :]

Hello my darlings! Man, November 1st already huh?? How the hell did we even make it here? lol! It feels unreal when the clock strikes 12 and all of a sudden it’s not spooky season anymore! Even though, like I’ve said before, it’s a lifestyle for most of us but I always miss the hype of the holiday actually coming up lol!

Yesterday, even tho I was enjoying every minute of the spooky day, more esp with you guys and your sweet messages and requests, (which btw thank you sm for doing that! Literally made my day). I couldn’t help but feel a little bummed out. I had stocked up on candy and barely any trick or treaters had shown up. My door was knocked only twice the most! Maybe because Halloween landed on a Thursday this year but I remember when I was younger and Halloween used to be so lit in my neighborhood no matter what day! Now it’s not the same at all and it’s been that way esp after the pandemic.

I’m just thankful that when I was a kid, Halloween was the craziest night of the year and the entire neighborhood would participate, it was so much fun! Music would be blasting, I was part of the swarm of kids running around in costume getting a crapton of candy and fun little toys like the spider rings and light up necklaces! (even tho my parents were opposed to it lol)

90s and y2k was honestly the best time for Halloween, and I bet the 80s and below especially as well! I bet there are still neighborhoods out there that are still making Halloween a grand tradition and I’m about ready to pack up and move into any of those places lol! Anyways, sorry for the long post. Meet Monk and Survivor

The Wings of Rain beans hehe

Note: Most information is given out at the current place in time the characters themselves are at, though some is from future things that will happen. (Namely, just clarifying which ending they'll end up getting)

Let's start with their overall family!

Their family was one of the many slugcat units living in the largest scav/scug camp within Pebbles and Moon's region. Originally, it was a pretty normal family with their mom, dad, and the three kids (a son and two daughters). Survivor is the oldest sibling, and gained massive popularity with the camp due to their potential and the promise they showed. Their first raid was a small one, just Survivor, their father, a few other slugs, and a squad of scabbies. The raid was meant to be nothing more than a quick in and out, but it was miscalculated and Pebbles decimated the raid, killing nearly the entire group. Survivor was caught on the edge of a blast of fire and likely would have died without the help of a scavenger trio hauling them away. They were the only four to survive the raid.

When they came back, fatherless and badly burned, Survivor spent a long time with the medics of the camp (aka make you more comfy and tell people to fuck off while you're healing). Their mother was left alone to take care of two young pups (Monk and the other pup being ~12 in human terms). A mother scavenger with a single young pup who lost her mate in the same raid took pity on Survivor's family and offered to help raise them. To clarify, though, they are not lesbians. (The scav does have feelings for momma scug tho so it might happen)

After they recovered from their burns and a long time later (Few years, like 4) Survivor, Monk, three other young adult/adolescent scugs, and a scav squad went out hunting. As the rain picked up, however, Survivor's scars acted up on them and combined with the slippery pole, they fell. Not wanting to lose a valuable member, half the scavengers jumped in after them. Emboldened by this, Monk also jumped, despite being weak and not fully grown.

So that's their backstory.

Survivor

Survivor's name is Stormcloud, and he is an adult slugcat searching for a way back home after falling deeper into Pebbles' region. His equipment/skills include a belt to store rocks, grenades, and other small objects, and he is an excellent hunter. He comes short in that 1) he's (rightfully) terrified of Five Pebbles and assume any flying creature far above is him, running at the sight or sound of wings 2) his burn scar sometimes acts up, just causing slight irritation and pain.

The pearl necklace is one of the highest honors a slugcat can get, considering how Scavengers are mostly in charge. It demonstrates someone with skill, ferocity, determination, and potential. His large burn scar is from the previously mentioned raid, but the scar across his face came from a dispute with other slugcats in the camp.

Stormcloud is loyal and lethal, adept at using whatever tools he has to end a bitch's life. He often plays defender to less capable creatures being attacked, such as yeeks, but doesn't hesitate to eat whatever is an option to him. He's also quite resilient, never losing hope.

He cares for his friends and family dearly, notably preventing other slugcats or scavengers from being mean to his younger siblings and mother, and in general hates to see any kind of abuse of power. He has big dreams, and hopes to one day slay Five Pebbles the same way some defeated Moon.

Currently, Stormcloud is still searching for his way back home, though he has met enough echoes that ascension would be an option. (Storm will make it home at some point)

Monk

Monk's name is Ray (Like a ray of sunshine, hehe), and she is a adolescent slugcat searching for her brother and a way back home. She has very little going for her, her only skills being that she is good at cultivating plants (Specifically, karma flowers and mushrooms), and that she is nimble. She has a similar belt to her brother, but Ray is very weak and easily scared. Lucky for her, some predators don't attack her due to her small size, and other prey often draws attention away.

Her feathers are plucked from various vultures that the camp defeated for masks. She just thinks they're pretty, hehe. Her pearl string is a similar reason, she thinks it's pretty, and even found a unique colored pearl. Stormcloud made sure nobody fussed over her use of pearls. The scars across her stomach are actually from leaping after her brother. Rough landing.

Ray is shy and nervous. She's easily spooked and runs from problems, or freezes in fear. She's very used to Stormcloud being there to protect her, and without him, she is practically defenseless.

Currently, Ray is heading towards the void sea on recommendation from Moon after mistakenly believing Stormcloud to have done the same. (Ray will eventually ascend)

By the way, for those curious why Moon recommended it: In her ruined state, stuck in the land below and terrified that she could be killed for good by slugcats or scavengers, Moon can't do much. She did initially try to kill Ray, since it's a single slugcat, but as Ray started to cry out, Moon stopped and quieted her. Moon then offered the helpful advice that, with Ray having met echoes and reaching a higher attunement, she should head west and find the void sea to escape. Ray was worried for Stormcloud, and Moon offered that she had met another slugcat and given the same advice (that other slugcat was not, in fact, Stormcloud). Ray believes Stormcloud went there and now wants to follow their brother. (Ray also didn't want to return to the camp without Stormcloud for fear of being blamed for his loss)

Requesting hc's for Op, Starscream, and Jackie meeting a human who has an Amulet stone (if you don't know what that is basically the reader has a magic stone on a necklace that let's them create shields, lift things, and create destructive energy blasts) and the reader, (much to their surprise) is doing their best to help them fight and protect them. Idk the thoughts have been on my mind lately, and I'm excited that asks are back open!! Drink some water!!

A pretty simple request and easy to write, also fun. The OP one is a bit different, because I wrote it first, and didn’t read the request properly, which happens pretty often lol

•Jackie is appreciative of the help, especially because he was about to get blown to bits, but he’s also very curious about how you could do that

•When the dust settles and you’re still there, Jackie has so many questions

•”How can you do that?” What’s that glowing rock on your necklace?” “What more can you do?”

•You’re pretty confused because yes you have answers to all of his questions, but what the hell is he?

•You just wanted to help him, because he seemed to be in a bad situation, and you didn’t really think about what he was in that moment

•He could’ve been the bad guy in the situation, and you just saved him, so now you’re really hoping he isn’t going to turn his weapon on you

•Jackie of course doesn’t do that, but he can still see you’re a bit scared, so he backs off a bit

•You end up getting tangled up in the whole autobots vs decepticons situation, because Jackie takes you to the base with him and you become a part of the team, just like the trouble trio

~Optimus Prime~

•Optimus is quite detail oriented, so he has noticed you’ve got a necklace, and he sometimes thinks he can see it glowing or pulsating with energy

•But that couldn’t possibly be the case, right?

•After the whole scraplet thing was over, the base wasn’t very structurally sound, and things kept falling, which wasn’t really a problem for the bots, because usually whatever it was that fell was quite small

•But one time it was a big pipe, and it was about to fall on Raf so you used your amulet stone to create a shield on top of him so he wouldn’t get hurt

•Optimus was the only one in the room at the time in addition to you and Raf so he of course saw the whole thing

•You try to act very nonchalant about it, and Optimus doesn’t really ask about it any further

•A bit later you feel like you should probably explain yourself to him, so you tell him that the amulet stone is a family heirloom of sorts and you don’t use it very much, because someone might take it from you if they knew what it could do

•But since the autobots would have no use for it, you don’t fear using it with them

•You don’t know it, but the amulet stone actually only works with you

•You use it to help the autobots and protect the trouble trio

•Though the “protecting the trouble trio” seems to be your main function

•Optimus has a few questions for you, like “What can you do with the amulet stone?” and “Would you please keep yourself away from the fighting?”

•You just want to help, but you do understand Optimus worrying about you so much

~Starscream~

•So Screamer was in a bit of a bad situation when suddenly a purple shield appeared in front of him

•He’s of course startled and feeling like he’s in even more danger, but he soon realizes that the shield is there to protect him

•There’s a faint stream of energy coming from behind a nearby tree and when the situation finally calms down, the shield disappears and Starscream sees someone trying to sneak away

•He pretty much grabs you off the ground and brings you close to his face to get a better look

•You considered expanding the energy shield around yourself to make him loosen his grip on you, but you were so high up you decided it would be a bad idea

•So he’s just staring at you with an annoyed look, but when he notices the necklace and notices that it’s glowing he drops you because he got scared

•You fall to the ground trying to soften your fall with a blast of energy, but you’re still pretty hurt

•Starscream is pointing his blaster at you, because he doesn’t know what you can do

•He just starts backing away, before transforming into his alt-mode and flying away

•No words were exchanged, and you didn’t know what the situation really was about, but you saw he was the underdog in the situation so you just wanted to help

Never mess with a mother Siren and her babies.

This took 3 DAYS! I am SO glad I'm done with it, but I'm VERY happy with how it came out!

So here we have Catcher, Danny and Glass (my GF's OC) in prison. No this is not Walker's Prison, it's a different one. But the 3 of them were taken/kidnapped and became slaves. They had collars put on them that would take away any powers they had and all weapons were taken away from them (That's why catcher isn't using her chain or has her necklace on) Catcher was also separated from Glass and Danny as she was the stronger of them so she was set to the other side of the prison to do harder work.

Catcher tries to think of a way to get the 3 of them out or to at least get Danny and Glass free so they can run, however after being there for a few days Catcher finally got to see Danny and Glass from across the prison when she was being led outside to do work, before going out she saw Danny and Glass being mistreated and beaten across the prison.

*This is a spoiler for the fanfic my GF and I are writing*

Catcher is half Siren and Sirens are known to be extremely protective of their children and Catcher see's Danny and Glass as her children. (Catcher technically is Glass's parent/guardian but that's a different story) When a mother Siren see's that her children are in danger or are being harmed they go into a blind rage and will try and do anything they can to protect their children, it's called Mama Siren Mode, a mother Siren will trust no one around her children except herself. They will not remember anything they do while in their blind rage and they become 3x stronger then they already are.

When Catcher saw what was happening to Danny and Glass her Siren side came out, she fought all guards around her and eventually got her collar off before taken a shield and weapon and going after the ones who were hurting her kids, killing anyone who got in her way. Catcher isn't a killer, she doesn't kill normally but in Mother Siren mode, her instincts take over and she does what she needs to do to get to her babies.

DETAIL TIME!

1: So the steam coming off of Catcher's hand is because she's harming herself. Ghost weapons can harm any ghost who uses it without the proper protection made from a certain fabric. Without gloves or any part of that outfit on a ghost can and will be harmed by a ghost weapon even if they are the ones using it. Because Catcher doesn't have on her gloves or took gloves from one of the dead guards that means she's burning herself with the weapon but she doesn't/can't feel it right night because she's in Mother Siren mode.

2: The shield and weapon is the same ones from Walker's prison, I feel like all prisons in the ghost zone would have these weapons and shields.

3: The ripped up clothes and bare feet are to show that they are more like slaves then normal prisoners.

4: Catcher has the shield closer to Danny and Glass to shield and protect them from any hits set their way rather then to try to use it to protect herself.

5: Danny might look like he's looking at Catcher with fear but it's not towards her, he's looking past her but he dose worry for her, he knows she'll have to fight on her own right now.

6: Catcher doesn't have many powers, the only powers she has are flight, screech and hypnotic song because she's half Siren. Sirens can't blast things because they lack the abilities to do so. That's why Catcher is using a weapon.

7: No bases were used for this drawing, this is all done by my hand alone.

Here are some things to say about my time in Santa Fe:

Highs:

Taking a vacation in adulthood with your friends! This was a weird group for me and I was a little anxious about it heading in, but it ended up being a blast. The other 6 women were all friends in college, and while I went to the same school as them, I knew them vaguely but wasn't friends with any of them. Then one of them became my closest friend after school, and I got to know most of the other women over the years thanks to her. But I wouldn't say I was close to the group as a whole so I was a little pleasantly surprised to be included. It ended up being great, obviously-- everyone is so cool and smart and I am so so happy we made it happen. It's hard to coordinate 7 grown women!

Meow Wolf! This is super fun and trippy and we spent like 2 hours wandering around and banging on things and going through portals in dryers and refrigerators and generally having a blast.

Hiking Sun Mountain! We did a real hike! I now want to take a hiking-forward vacation! I found it harder to come down than to go up bc I have kinda bad knees but good cardiovascular, but I think most of the group found it easier to go down. We almost all slipped and fell on the gravelly path coming down.

Going for a run! I always like to run on vacation but I was nervous bc of the altitude. It wasn't my FASTEST run but it was fine and beautiful!

The Indian Art Fair! OMG the art was so so so gorgeous. And art in Santa Fe in general!

Green chili sauce not christmas. I didn't like the red as much!

The Georgia O'Keeffe museum! I was really moved by her life and this was a small but mighty and very well-done collection.

Getting free hotel breakfast! There was supposed to be a pool but it wasn't finished in time so one of the women negotiated free daily breakfast at the hotel restaurant and omg it was it delicious. It was so luxurious to have a huge leisurely breakfast every day. With green chili sauce!

The sangre de christo, the blood of christ mountains of New Mexico (if you can read that without singing it, you have a different life than I do)

Shopping in general! I saw a cute store that had little print dresses in it and I went it and half of us ended up buying matching dresses. Shopping with friends is so fun and the people in the shops there are so so so nice.

Again, the indian art fair. It was just the most beautiful art and jewelry and all of the artists were so happy to talk about their process and let you try things on and tell you their family history. It just felt really beautiful and generous.

Visiting a friend's ranch! Two of the women went to hs together and their friend owns a giant ranch outside of santa fe where we went for drinks and omg the views were just so incredible. Also his partner is from Santa Fe and he was telling us that his family has been there for hundreds of years (the us-mexico border crossed them, as it were) and they speak spanish from Spain, not from Mexico, and he gave us so much context for what the city and environment is like as a native. Also they had goats and chickens, which is alway fun. Their house looked like a spread from architectural digest.

the weed store! buying weed there is so different! almost no taxes (lol illinois 30% tax on weed), there are windows and you can just walk in and out (no windows in IL and you have to show ID to get in) and they take debit cards! IL is all cash. I bought Adam some red chili toffees and YES i transported them across state lines!

Lows:

the miraculous staircase. This was such a gimmick, you can't even walk on it. It was in the Loretto chapel attached to our hotel so we went (and were genuinely excited about it!) but I do not recommend it.

The dry desert air. I am shriveled like a corn husk. I thought the altitude would get me but it was actually the complete lack of humidity.

That's all I've got for a low. Truly! no real lows! I loved every minute and my outfits were all great. I bought a tiny turquoise necklace as you do when you visit Santa Fe.

Full Episode Commentary

1x12: Unpleasantville

Everything would flow normally if they simply opened the tomb. They don't because the writers pull a repeat of history with Fell's Church, with the Battle of Willow Creek. That's why they're literally battling each other over opening the tomb. This episode is where the battle starts as Stefan is the one to spark the war, and he does it because Damon took Elena to Atlanta.

They open with Stefan and Elena talking about Noah. He hands her vervain for her family and friends to protect them from him because he doesn't know who Noah is or what he wanted with Elena. It's necessary for Jeremy to invite him into the house because Damon already made sure she wouldn't make that mistake again... The purpose of their scene in 1x6. So when Noah comes to the door, Jeremy invites him in. Damon is searching their family records for the sake of finding Emily's grimoire. This scene is hilarious to me because Stefan is obvious.

Stefan: What are you looking for, Damon? Damon: Not your concern. Stefan: No, but putting Elena in harm's way, that is my concern.

To be clear, Damon didn't put Elena in harm's way. Damon was the only one in harm's way. Elena was simply used as bait. I'm quite certain she told Stefan that Lexi's boyfriend tried to kill Damon, so he knows damn well she wasn't in harm's way. This is his jealousy talking.

Stefan's jealousy has a certain feel. Knowing that he's jealous, Damon responds by trying to make him even more so. "Oh, yeah. Elena and I had a blast." Stefan strikes back in the only way he can. "I get it. You're just bitter because one of us gets to be with the person that we love, and poor Katherine is just out of reach." Damon isn't at all bitter because he has no reason to be. Stefan is trying to make him bitter, so he's teasing him over the fact that while Elena is now home, Katherine is still out of reach. Stefan questions him about Bree because he plans to stop him from opening the tomb, he simply doesn't plan to involve Elena until later. I'll note it when I get there. Stefan is fishing and Damon isn't taking the bait. "Don't you have school?" Pay mind to this because, as I just stated, Lexi's boyfriend used Elena as bait to get to Damon.

Alaric hands Jeremy an A for his report that Anna helped him with. He then shows just how good he is at lying about the existence of vampires. He then asks about the source Jeremy used because he knows he has something historical he wants to get his hands on. There's only one way Jeremy could get information from John Gilbert lol. He basically wants what Anna wants. Not only because he wants to kill Damon, but because he's a history nut.

Caroline has good moments, but they're rare. "Lesbian friend necklace? Cause we're freaky like that?" lol... I love it. Elena hides the fact that the necklace contains vervain, she simply tells her why she's wearing it. "Your friendship is important to me." She's like Stefan that way. They start talking about Matt. "I'm with Stefan now. Matt understands that. He knows he has to move on." No, Matt doesn't yet. He's applying for a job at the Grill because like I said, he's the only one in the show without a guardian. He's been head of household since the beginning, that's probably why he felt so much responsibility for Vicki. Matt and Ben talk football while Bonnie and Elena talk about her adoption. I love Bonnie. While Stefan put a wedge between Elena and Jenna, Bonnie is pushing Elena to talk to Jenna. This is what a real friend does.

Damon approaches Bonnie. He understands that she has reason to fear him and so much as hate him. That's why he doesn't push it even though he could. He uses the same approach as he did with Emily's talisman, only he doesn't threaten her for the sake of Emily's grimoire because he's being genuine. He wants a fresh start. That's why he laughs and walks away with Ben still standing. I feel it's important to note Damon and Bonnie in this episode and every future episode because Damon isn't the problem, Bonnie is. Like Stefan, she holds his past against him. Ben is flirting with Bonnie because he plans to abduct her. She's the key to open the tomb. I honestly wish they did better with her ships. Ben is a newly turned vampire turned by Anna, and far too cocky because Anna isn't a teacher, she's a user.

Elena is walking to her car when Noah calls to scare her. Stefan never had reason to fear Damon, but he certainly has reason to fear Noah and Ben. She rushes to the boarding house. "That's because we're predators, Elena. We hunt. We stalk. It's often as exciting as the kill." The writers hammer this in every chance they get. They don't want fans to forget that they're predators, so expect them to act it. Expect Stefan to stalk Elena, enter her life for the sake of dating her, and do so without care to what she'd want or need because he's a predator. Stefan takes the vampire compass from Damon and gives it to Elena.

Stefan: Gilberts were one of the founding families, and back in 1864, they were among those who sought to eradicate the vampires. The compass was used to find us. Elena: Did you know them? Stefan: Yes. 

He hides the fact that he helped kill her family as they sought revenge against the founding families for what they did to Katherine. Consider this a lie by omission.

Matt and Caroline are painting banners for the dance. One of the things I love about Caroline despite hating her, is the fact that she deserves the Miss Mystic crown. Elena wins in the beauty department, but Caroline is every bit Miss Mystic. She takes part in pretty much every event they hold. I'm not talking about dancing at a dance or riding on a parade float, I'm talking about prepping and decorating for it. She puts in some serious work. I'm actually surprised she finds the time to date, that's how much of her time she gives. As beautiful as Delena is in 1x19 and despite my love for them... had I been a judge, Caroline would've been my winner. "Since when are you a busboy?" Matt takes offense to Caroline's question when he has no reason to, but no one brags about being a busboy. He doesn't wanna be judged for what he has to do to keep house. "You know, some of us have to work, Caroline. With our mom in and out, things are tight, so…" He has some seriously crappy parents.

Jeremy is shooting pool at the Grill when Anna shows up. She asks about his extra credit to push for John Gilbert's journal. "I'm being pushy again, aren't I?" Like Damon, she has someone she loves in that tomb... her mother, Pearl. I can't hate them for wanting to rescue the people they love. Jenna and Elena start removing the wedge Stefan put between them, and Jenna's explanation for this secret is understandable. "Your mom was gonna do it eventually. I never thought I'd have to." Even though the Gilberts weren't her parents, they were still her blood and they raised her. Jenna would find it hard to tell her about her adoption during her mourning process... she suffered a huge loss. Stefan denied Jenna the chance to tell her, and I'm certain she would've eventually.

Like I said, Damon isn't pushing Bonnie. He's making a list of the founding families to get to Emily's grimoire. He has Lockwood, Gilbert, Fell, and another listed.

"The task I gave both of you was kill 100 people or kill your brother's girl." Damon never actually tries to kill Elena. He doesn't even try to kill her when she betrays him in 1x13. He just threatens to turn her. Stefan is trying to stop Damon from opening the tomb to rescue Katherine, and while doing so, claims that a lot of people will die if he does. I say "claim" because he's manipulating Elena with a lie for the sake of denying Damon his girlfriend. Yes, he's that upset about Atlanta. Stefan continues fishing. Damon isn't taking the bait, but pretends to when he agrees to the deal to only rescue Katherine. He knows Stefan is lying to him. "Damon. You apply all of your shortcomings to everybody else. If history's any indication, there's only one liar among us." Stefan is describing himself, not Damon. He proves this, and often. Let me make it simple... it's best not to believe Stefan when he's lying while delivering this line. It's also best to note these manipulation tactics Stefan uses on Damon because he uses the same tactics on Elena. She's getting ready for the dance when the vampire compass goes wild with Noah's entry into her house. This is why Damon answers Stefan's phone...

As I said before, if not for Alaric killing Logan, Damon wouldn't have been on that road in 1x11. He saved Elena from Noah. Stefan was the one that put her at risk as he puts everyone at risk... and he does it often.

This conversation between Damon, Stefan, and Elena is hilarious. Just as Stefan tried to blame Damon for vampire Logan, he tries to blame Damon for vampire Noah. Stefan assumes things about Damon more often than not. Damon is very intuitive. He knows rather than assumes more often than not.

"I'll do it." Damon is Elena's courage. He doesn't want her to be a damsel in distress, so he pushes her to bait Noah. Whenever you see Elena being this courageous, note Damon's presence. That's why she trusts going in to save Stefan from the tomb vampires... she's with Damon. Stefan is being too overprotective, so he considers it a bad idea. Stefan basically gets a close-up look at how Damon talked Elena into going to Atlanta with him. Damon is quick to persuade her, and this bothers Stefan very much.

"I'll be with the two of you. I'll be safe." This entire scene is when Stefan decides to involve Elena in his betrayal. That's why you get a repeated couch scene. Stefan not only wants Elena to himself, he's bothered by the fact that they've bonded this much. Not only to the fact that Damon can persuade her so easily, but how safe she feels with him. He uses trust and safety to destroy what Damon and Elena built in Atlanta, that's how upset and jealous he is. Like I said, he wants Elena all to himself. He'd rather attack Damon's humanity than allow Damon the ability to build a friendship with Elena. In truth, he still wants Damon to leave town, that's how much he wants Elena all to himself.

Scene cut soundtrack and concept. "Well, you're IN Georgia. Without your magical little necklace, I might add. I can very easily make you… agreeable." This Magic Moment by The Misfits. Damon persuaded Elena to bait Noah without using compulsion. While Stefan and Elena are bound by doppelganger magic, Damon and Elena are bound by their own natural magic. When they arrive at the dance, Alaric sets his eyes on Damon. Jenna tries to flirt with him, but he's too focused on revenge. Damon used and abused Caroline and nearly killed Bonnie, so they're upset to see him at the dance. Elena doesn't wanna hurt them and she doesn't wanna be judged, so she opts to keep Damon a secret and jokes along with them. "But if I'm gonna be with Stefan, then I have to learn to tolerate Damon. It's not like I can kill him." They have no idea that Damon and Elena have been bonding, or that Elena saved his life because she cares. They know nothing of Elena's Atlanta trip. Alaric and Jenna are insanely boring to me, so I'm glad he's focused on revenge.

"Hi, Bonnie. Wanna dance? Please, give me another chance." This is the second time Damon makes an attempt to get to Emily's grimoire by speaking to Bonnie. Even though he's after the grimoire, he's being genuine about wanting another chance. Like I said, everything going forward with him and Bonnie is on Bonnie. He's being real with her.

Damon is a dancer. He considers it fun. That doesn't mean his dance partners are romantic interests, he just doesn't like having fun alone. Had Bonnie danced with him, I believe he would've talked to her about the grimoire while they danced. Relationships take two people, so the Bamon dance you see in season 2 is the Bamon dance Damon wanted in this episode. Damon asks Elena if she wants to dance with him because she's actually giving him the second chance Bonnie is denying him. She opts to dance with Stefan instead. Like Bamon's dance, Delena's dance is built. The difference with their season 2 dance is the difference between them building a friendship and them being friends. Once Stelena hits the dance floor, Noah appears in his hoodie.

Stefan and Elena are dancing and talking about the 50s. imo, these decade dances are just as important as their flashbacks. Stelena's history and Delena's chemistry is written within them. Anna stalks Jeremy at the dance.

Bonnie and Caroline go to the Grill and talk about Ben. Trust me when I tell you that if Damon were already in love with Elena, his conversation with Alaric wouldn't be possible. You can see and feel the difference in the way he looks at Elena when he falls in love with her. Damon knows there's something up with Alaric. The speed of his investigations are pretty much dependent on his fear level and risk level. He feels safe enough with Alaric to wait until after they deal with Noah. That's why he doesn't bother. Bonnie gets the courage to ask Ben on a date. "You know, that's the kind of thing that washed-up jocks do to make a living." The difference between Caroline's two comments is the difference between the job and the man. She insulted Matt when she insulted Ben. They're showing how shallow Caroline can be. It's the difference between her trying to stop Bonnie from dating Ben, while it's okay for her to take Damon to bed without so much as knowing him. Damon isn't a washed-up jock who pours drinks for a living. That's why this scene takes place at the Grill.

Anna finally goes for what she's after. She's asking Jeremy if she can look at John Gilbert's journal. He tells her that he gave it to Alaric. If you don't see the parallel, let me just point it out… For Caroline in 1x8, it's a stupid necklace. For Jeremy in 1x13, it's a stupid journal.

While Anna vamps at this response, Damon insults Caroline for hers. One would have to put Damon in emotional overload to make him vamp out because he has an insane level of control over his bloodlust. That's why Sage is his favorite teacher.

It's important for fans to listen to Elena's words in this dance scene with Stefan because it's a continuance of their scene before the dance. "It's my choice. I decided to be here. I officially signed up for it. So I don't wanna hear you apologizing anymore." Important because it's a parallel. Damon asked her to go to the dance, Damon asked her to go to Atlanta. It was her choice for both, she decided to be there for both. I'm noting this now because all of it matters at the end of the episode.

Anna meets with Noah in the hallway and warns him about stalking Elena. "She's not Katherine." This is a TVD mantra. The writers repeat certain concepts because they want fans to understand what they truly mean. So when Katherine tells Damon that it was always Stefan, you better understand that it matters because they have different personalities. Care not how long Stefan and Elena are together because all the while they are, the writers slow burn Delena and build them with the plan to pair them. I'm saying that Stelena might as well enjoy what they have while they have it because Delena will happen. You can always sense a slow burn ship. Like Damon watching Elena dance, Elena watches Damon dance. They're sizing each other up, asking themselves if they wanna be friends with this person. A huge difference between being there because she's dating Stefan and being there because they're friends.

Elena catches sight of Noah. Stefan tells her to find Damon while he gives chase. When Stefan catches up to him, he finds out it's another student acting as a distraction. Noah calls Elena and threatens Jeremy for the sake of a meeting with her. Elena is well enough to stab him three times with a pencil, she's just not fast enough with the mop. Damon and Stefan arrive just in time to stop him from sinking his teeth in. Damon is respecting Stefan in this scene, allowing him to deliver the violence on Elena's behalf. At the same time, he commands Stefan. By that, I mean Stefan doesn't kill Noah until Damon tells him to. Damon's second lead into the tomb is a process. Logan told him about the founding family journals, but didn't specify which founding family journal he neded. That's why Damon was making a list of founding families... Lockwoods, Gilberts, fell, etc. This gave Damon need to talk to Noah before he killed him. Noah spills about John Gilbert's journal and they kill him because he was invited in. They wouldn't have otherwise. Damon would've tortured him to find out who his partners were. Damon now needs to find the journal and read it to find Emily's grimoire. He's extremely dedicated to the love of his life. I mean, this is jumping through hoops here.

Noah refuses to betray Anna, so when Stefan chooses to involve Elena in his betrayal against Damon, best know that he's actually putting her in danger - again. That's the kind of person Stefan is... he's about to put Elena in danger just to keep her all to himself. This repeats in season 3 as they build Delena from friendship to romance.

"But as long as it's in you or on you, a vampire cannot control you." If you don't see how this episode is written, I'll point out the fact that their scenes have opposites that look like repeats. Alaric passes by the cafeteria. Damon rushes to question him, and uses this moment to see why he's in town. Like I said, he already knows there's something up with him. While using compulsion to get answers, Damon has no idea that Alaric is holding onto vervain. That's why he doesn't question Alaric again until he's given reason to... he honestly believes he compelled him to tell the truth.

Stefan continues fishing and Damon continues avoiding. He's not gonna trust Stefan, period. Understand that's why Damon and Stefan don't try to pair up with each other in those final moments in 1x13. Stefan is betraying Damon and Damon knows it. However, Damon fully agrees to the deal to only save Katherine. "Because I want you gone." The only bit of honesty Stefan offers him. He wants Elena all to himself.

At the Grill, Caroline is trying to patch things up with Matt. "Okay, I say stupid things without thinking, and then I have to apologize and take it back, and…" This is about Caroline getting caught and hurting Matt in the process, nothing more. "I'm… I'm not over Elena. I mean, I don't know if I am." Every character in this show offers parallels. Matt knows how hard it is to go back to being friends. While Elena didn't fall for him, he fell for her. There's a certain essence you get with an un-fall, though I can't really explain it. Alaric takes Jenna home because he knows that Damon and Stefan are in Elena's life and he's currently persuing Damon to kill him. Matt catches up to Caroline, jumps out of his truck and kisses her.

The purpose of this final scene is to view it as their pre-sex scene in 1x10, only it's a manipulation to get Damon out of town rather than a manipulation for Stefan to stay in town. That's why they're in bed at the open of 1x13. "I should feel more upset or scared or something, but I... feel kind of exhilarated." Elena feels this way because of Damon. Damon was the one that talked her into it, Stefan was the one that said it was a bad idea. This is the "little bit of danger" that Damon referenced on the night they first met. Damon got her blood pumping, put it that way. This is Atlanta 1 and Atlanta 2...

1x14 is Atlanta 3. Don't underestimate what Damon and Elena built in Atlanta. I wouldn't consider them friends, but they were working towards it. Damon trusted Elena enough to take her to meet his witch. And it's not just about Elena meeting Bree, it's about Damon finding another way into the tomb. He knew that by taking her to Atlanta, she'd basically inform Stefan that he has another plan in motion. Had he went to Atlanta by himself, Stefan and Elena would've been blind to his plan because Damon would've dealt with Noah by himself. They only have a problem because he trusted taking Elena to Atlanta. That's how much trust Damon put in her. So when you get to Elena's line of dialogue, understand that Damon was feeling the same thing. He knew it was gonna take more than a road trip and rescue for Elena to forget who he is and everything he's done. He's not stupid. That's why he took her to Atlanta. It's his trust fall.

Elena felt extremely safe with Damon. I say extremely because it's not just about who you're with, but about where you are, and yes… whether you're of sound mind. Elena felt safe enough to get drunk with Damon while miles away from Stefan, and in a bar full of people she didn't even know. She didn't just feel safe enough to do this, she had enough trust in Damon to do it. For Elena to say she doesn't trust him is absurd. If she didn't trust Damon, she wouldn't have agreed to his plan to bait Noah. Damon was the one that talked her into it while Stefan told her it was a bad idea... and she STILL listened to Damon rather than Stefan lol. The thing about Elena is that her trust in him is to an extent.

Lexi's boyfriend used Elena to bait Damon. Damon and Stefan then used Elena to bait Noah. This is Stefan using Elena to bait Damon. Note his body language…

It's not about Katherine for Elena, it's about the 26 other vampires in the tomb. Stefan is allowing Elena to believe that Damon plans to free them all. Yes, it's possible to open that tomb and only save one because freeing the others requires they be given human blood. They've been desiccating for 145 years. "It's gonna take a lot more than just a road trip and a rescue for me to forget who Damon is and everything he's done." It's because Stefan is selling 27 vampires that Elena is using Damon's past against him... which she never does because she's not Stefan. She's only doing it now because of Stefan. She second-guesses helping Damon in 1x13 because had it been Damon rather than Stefan in this scene, she would've trusted him enough to open the tomb to rescue Katherine. That's why Stefan is getting to her now rather than later. He knows that Damon plans to turn to her for the Gilbert journal.

Stefan is working both sides of the Delena coin, the betrayer and the betrayed. It's Elena's comment on the dance floor that matters in this scene. "So I don't wanna hear you apologizing anymore." Stefan is pulling the opposite because he's using her. "I need to tell you something, and I don't know how you're gonna feel about it." You see this play out with Damon in 1x14. She's not sorry she got the grimoire without him, but she's sorry that she hurt him... which is exactly what Stefan wanted.

These are your 3x14 parallels as they shift Delena from friendship to romance....

That's why Elena has a "Twice" soundtrack. "Fool me once, shame on you." What Elena doesn't yet know, is what her betrayal will mean to Damon. He gave her the rare gift of his humanity. Something he doesn't give to just anyone. She's not betraying a vampire, she's betraying a man and the trust that he put in her when it's obvious af that he has trust issues. When I do my re-watch of 1x13, I'll gif it in a way that I've never done before to show the impact their betrayal has on him.

For Stefan, it's about Katherine and Elena, not about the other 26 vampires. He knows Damon can open the tomb and only rescue one because he knows that a desiccating vampire requires human blood. He feels that if he doesn't deny Damon both Katherine and Elena, Damon won't leave town and he very much wants him to. "And you two have bonded lately." Because they bonded, Damon has reason to stay, and Stefan plans to uproot that for the sake of getting Damon to leave. This entire episode is about baiting Damon to leave town because Stefan wants Elena all to himself.
