the language being stripped of lore specific terms made it so much worse in retrospect. fr tho Davrin calling Eldrin "Uncle" Eldrin instead of Hahren, like it's okay Davrin you can use elvish around my Rook I won't judge :( I haven't romanced him does he at least call you vhenan??
I could get the use of 'uncle' if Davrin was trying to explain it to Rook who was not elvish (since all elves in this game seem to just instinctively know elvish) since it would make sense to make a connection between the dalish role and familial role for an outsider:
Rook - "Who are we seeing?" Davrin - "Hahren...Uncle Eldrin." Rook - "Hahren?" Davrin - "It's elvish - they're storytellers and caretakers in the clan." Rook - "So...not your uncle." Davrin - "Close enough. He raised me."
Does Davrin call you 'vhenan'? I could have sworn he did in the final love/petting over clothes scene but I did a look up because I couldn't remember...apparently its just my wishful thinking - but don't quote me, maybe it's only in a specific dialogue option? :(
That fact that I can't recall it off the top of my head is telling -> Solas calls Lavellan 'vhenan' so much its burned into my brain, the same with other endearments from other romances. I played as a shadow dragon elf so I was hoping to be able to say 'amatus' - didn't get to do that either.
Which is one reason that the romances in this game really fall flat for me. I loved how different characters had different endearments for you, it made it feel more personal! Bull with 'Kadan', Dorian with 'Amatus', Solas with 'Vhenan', Leliana with 'My Love', and Sera had a 'pick your own' that wonderfully reflected her character!
I assume they were trying to make the language more accessible for new players, but it was never a barrier for me in any of the other games? If anything it always made me more interested/curious in what was going on when I encountered a phrase that I didn't understand. It added to the idea that these characters were from different nations and cultures - they had their own languages and phrases that reflected that -> the world felt bigger because of it!
Even if I didn't understand something, the voice work was always so stellar that even if the exact meaning wasn't understood, I got the intent that it was being said with.
Best examples being Solas and the Arishok - I understand certain words and phrases of each language, but I'm not a translator like some very talented people on this website. Even if I didn't get what was being said I absolutely understood the intent from the emotion and nuances in voice work. Top tier example is Solas and Sera in DAI:
Solas: Our people used to be here. Sera: Pfft, you say that everywhere. Solas: It is more true than you want to believe. Sera: I bet, right? Who wants to think about stepping on dead elves. Solas: Din elvhen emma him? Sera: Oh, you felt that one.
The way that line was delivered was incredible. Didn't understand a word but you could absolutely feel the repressed fury of what Solas was saying - his disgust at what Sera said. Once again, Gareth David-Lloyd coming in with incredible voice work! <3
It's such a strange choice to just...remove that immersion - to have so little of it in-game. Does it require extra work to make certain that the characters language reflects their history and culture? Yes! But what it adds is so immense to the world. I can't imagine not having Solas call Lavellan by elven endearments or having Andrastian characters not say 'Thank the Maker!' or 'Maker's breath!' It was cool worldbuilding! Just like how we say 'oh my god' there's a Thedas equivalent that communicated the very same idea!
Hearing lore specific words and phrases makes me know that I'm playing a Dragon Age game. Playing DATV which severely lacks in those words and phrases made me realize I'm sitting on my swivel chair and looking at a computer screen.
#asks#thanks for the ask! <3#such a weird choice since the language has already been established in earlier games?#maybe they didn't want to add in the codex entries that would explain it? i dunno#hearing the phrase 'makers breath' is how i know I'm playing a dragon age game lmao#davrin i wish you were in a better game - you deserved it! <3#they should have come up with different names for foods and drinks that weren't real life related too!#why is this game making me think of going down to coles and grabbing a torte what is this#they talk about food so much in banter that its hard to avoid as well??#its the small immersive things that remind you of the world you're supposed to be in#datv critical#veilguard critical

inspired by the crying headcanons ask, how do you think the girls are like when angry? we do kind of see some of them get infuriated sometimes in the side stories but im curious if you have any extra thoughts on it
I'm just going to kinda rapid fire this because I don't like it sitting here, but I've been too busy and in a weird headspace to really take the time for it. If this ends up malformed or weird, I apologize. I've done a bit of thought on it though
Sayori generally keeps herself on an even keel. It's hard to really piss her off with anything which would typically anger someone, because she has a general kill them with kindness mindset (and if you do something like insult her, or try to start shit, she's more likely to assume that she's doing something wrong, so she'll beat herself up instead). That said, she does have her pet peeves (like when someone leaves the water on while brushing their teeth! you aren't using that right now, you're just wasting water!), and she does have certain buttons you probably shouldn't press.
Namely, Sayori really values other people, especially those close to her, and places a lot of trust in them. To be honest with her, to be good people, and to take care of themselves. If you fail the latter two, she will be disappointed with you, and maybe even a little angry dependent on the circumstance and how she learns about it. That disappointment hurts a lot worse, though. Of course, when it comes to taking care of yourself, she understands how that could be difficult, and will help you as much as she can, but she really wants you to value yourself as much as she does.
The former of the three, she'll get angry. Sayori isn't the type to go shouting mad (well, unless she's getting mad at mario kart or something), or the type to really share strong words. She's got that tranquil fury down pat. If you do something you know she won't be happy with, that's one thing. If you lie about it to her face, and take advantage of her trust, she'll take some time apart from you. She'll push you away until she can calm down and really think about how she wants to respond. She's not one to hold grudges; revenge isn't her forte, but when she faces that kind of betrayal, it's really hard for her to look at someone the same way.
Monika can be very passive aggressive. Yknow, that kind of backhanded, half-sarcastic passive aggressive. As a side effect of being a people-pleaser, Monika is averse to conflict generally, and would prefer to seek a more reasonable compromise in any given situation as opposed to some blow-out confrontation, and absent that, when she gets aggravated, she tries to be civil, but ends up being cattier than she intends.
If it does end up escalating to a more serious argument, if tensions are running high, Monika feels very uncomfortable. She's not one to escalate into a shouting match, she's not the type to start peppering her speech with colorful language adding with rage, she tries to keep herself under control as much as she can.
Still, she might slip up. And losing that control makes her feel even worse about it, makes her more emotional in general, and when she gets to that point, I think she'd probably say something she might regret. Definitely has moments where she cries from how angry she is about something, and realizes she needs to take a walk to get away from the situation.
Yuri tends to be strongly opinionated, but about some strange and specific things. She tries to keep from voicing these opinions when they aren't asked for or needed, just to keep everything smooth socially, but if asked, she will be blunt about her thoughts even while trying to be polite, because if they want her honest opinion, then being honest, she does feel that bluntly about it. The fact that she doesn't let on until asked makes it feel harsher than it actually is.
Yuri generally tries to keep herself under control in a similar vein to Monika, except that rather than trying to use some sort of conflict resolution, she prefers to just leave it as is. Just stop talking about it, maybe leave, whatever. Of course, she feels so strongly about her view and that it's correct that sometimes her mouth moves before her brain, and she feels the need to get the last word in, which often escalates the situation.
Yuri gets pretty easily overwhelmed emotionally, and her strong feelings about a given topic can quickly bubble over and force her to act in certain off-putting ways before she even realizes what she's doing or saying. She has a tendency to start yelling, to start saying a lot more hurtful things and use more caustic language generally. Without a mediator, she's wont to get into a loop of just continual anger and have it just ruin her day. Of course, after that, if she really thinks about it, she regrets it completely and feels terrible. (Unless they actually deserve it. Even then, she might think she could've gone about it better...)
That habit of bottling it up also has a tendency to create some outbursts if things become too overwhelming, though that's more likely to result in a combination of this sort of behavior and what I described when talking about them crying. That's da dawg in her ('tism)
Natsuki tends to be reflexively angry, or reflexively mean at the very least. I've talked about this at length before, but she pushes people away in general and tries to harden herself wholly so that nobody can ever hurt her. I've dwelt for a while on what I think that actually means about her life (namely her home life) but you can read my thoughts on that elsewhere.
She's got a tendency to just complain about a lot of different stuff which annoys her or makes her uncomfortable. She makes no secret of her opinions or thoughts on any variety of things, which might get her into trouble in some circumstances, but generally she's just very opinionated without much dedicated thought to it.
If you really get her going though, she has a lot of smart-mouthed comebacks and sharp barbs to lob back and forth. Also she starts swearing a lot more. She does her best to come out on top by keeping her anger in check, but she definitely indulges in it a fair bit. Sometimes too much. Sometimes she gets overwhelmed, and when she gets really, really mad, she also definitely starts crying, and she moreso than anyone finds that really embarrassing, because it's a sign of weakness in that kind of scenario.
#this resulted in a lot more thoughts than i expected...i have some new ideas to work with#ddlc monika#ddlc sayori#ddlc yuri#ddlc natsuki#ddlc#doki doki literature club#asks#my headcanons#thanks for the ask! <3

are starscream and the other cons awere star subconsciusly sees alexis as his sparklings ?
Will alexis ever call him sire ?
Starscream: "...and that is how the reaction starts."
Alexis: "thanks, sire/dad"
Starscream:"...." Bluescreaning
Oh cute <3. The other seekers have no idea Starscream subconsciously sees Alexis as his sparkling. They're still trying to wrap their processesors around Starscream not killing an organic on site. Nevermind him actually caring about it. They're in for quite the shock.
I'm going to level with you though, in the Miracle AU Alexis is never going to outright call him dad/sire. It's not how she rolls, or Starscream for that matter. They show their care through actions rather than words. Starscream is also allergic to genuine words of affection.
Both Starscream and Alexis will have a moment of epiphany where they realise Starscream is basically her adoptive father. Starscream is going to freak out, which Skywarp finds very entertaining. He doesn't help at all.
Alexis will be in blatant denial that Starscream is her dad. Which Frenzy sympathises with. He would pat her on the back and say, "it's okay. I too would be in the throws of grief. You have my sincerest condolences." Alexis can't tell if he's joking or not and that makes it worse.
Alexis and Starscream will get over the realisation after a while and things will go back to normal. Honestly they're the last people to figure it out. Thundercracker knew years ago.

8 for the Rook and their partner ask game maybe?
8. What does their ideal date look like? Do they go on much?
Going to stick with what Mary Kirby said about Lucanis' idea of a perfect date (assassinating somebody and getting coffee, not necessarily in that order) because when I read it I thought "Great, that’s basically Arden's idea of a perfect date too." Except it would be cioccolata calda or some other sweet treat for her, not coffee.
Lucanis and Arden both live busy lives (being First Talon is a time-consuming job and Arden's skills as House de Riva's top-ranking assassin are more in demand than ever after taking down a god - a detail Viago uses to negotiate eye-wateringly high prices for all her contracts going forward), but Lucanis is a romantic, so he tries to make time to take her out as often as can. With the occupation in Treviso finally over, they're regular attendees at the theatre and the opera (where the Dellamorte's have a private box of course, which suits both of them fine for the times when they're more interested in each other than what's happening on stage). They visit restaurants and cafes all across Treviso, but their favourite is Café Pietra, where they always sit at the same table. They go on jobs together all the time too as well, even though only one of them is usually getting paid for it (only Crows would consider assassinating somebody as spending quality time together).
Send me questions from this Rook and their partner list if you want!

The real reason why Silver wasn't in the new game is because he can't lie. Amy knew he would have cracked under pressure and revealed he wasn't the killer in 3 seconds
I just had the funniest idea where Amy was like "Okay, well, the detective can't be the killer so maybe Silver can be that...?" before changing her mind IMMEDIATELY because putting a completely OP, overly serious, slightly vengeful and one-track-minded hedgie who does not fully understand it's all a game into the role of finding the killer is just asking for someone to get actually murdered in search of the truth lmao

can you do a combo of 26 and 43 w/ andreil 🥺
26. A kiss while one or both parties are crying / 43. A bloody kiss
Andrew hadn’t seen it.
He really hadn’t.
Where the fuck had that car come from?
He’s not sure. He’s also not sure if he can feel his left foot. Or how many times the car rolled before deciding it preferred being upside-down. But Neil is hanging next to him, suspended only by his seat belt the same as Andrew. He’s not moving. And more frightening, he’s not running his mouth. Andrew's heart stops.
“Neil. Are you alright?” Andrew asks, afraid of the answer. It takes a second, but Neil slowly turns to look at him with glassy blue eyes. There’s blood trickling down his face from a gash on his forehead, his nose looks sort of weird.
He blinks a few times before saying, “I’m fine. You?”
Idiot. Andrew lets out a relieved sigh. “You’re bleeding.”
“I hit my head on the window a couple times. I’m fine,” Neil insists. “What about you?”
Andrew rolls his eyes and grabs Neil by his shirt, pulling him close. “We took ‘fine’ away from you, remember?”
“I thought I got it back when I graduated,” Neil says, shrugging. Being upside down makes him look stupid, stupider than usual. But he’s alive. This crash had no casualties. Thank fuck. Andrew feels a very unfamiliar pricking in the corners of his eyes and curses himself for it. He must’ve hit his head, too.
“Yes or no?” He grits out. And Neil nods. Andrew grabs his face, not minding the slightly sticky feeling of blood, and presses careful lips to Neil’s. It's barely a peck of a kiss. Because oh. Andrew can feel his ankle now. But it definitely shouldn’t feel like this. Fuck.
His discomfort must show on his face because Neil is reaching for him. “Andrew, are you alright?”
“I’m fine.” Andrew lies. “But as soon as the EMTs cut me out of here, I’m going to kill the motherfucker that did this to my car.”
#I couldn't really see either of them actually Full On Crying but tearing up counts to me. So here you go dear. <3#Thanks for the ask! <3#andreil#🕊️#ask games#my writing#detectivebambam#answered

What does Yonal sound like? e.g., what is his accent, does he have a high or low voice, etc.?
And to make this nsfw, what does he sound like in bed? 👀
Before, Yonal was a tenor and he was the lead singer for the Hogwarts choir. He had a thick Filipino accent and couldn't really control it which made it harder for people to understand him with how little his english vocabulary was, and how much of a target he also was for bullying.
Overtime, he learned to work around it and by working age, it only slips out when he's super angry or super stressed.
Currently, I can confirm that Yonal has a baritone voice. He can go low but not as low as Snape and he can go high to a tenor. He's more comfortable singing in high notes and there's a little bit of rasp in his tone when he talks and sings, especially when he yells or belts out.
I've actually been working on his voiceclaims for both his normal and singing voice! It'll just take a while bc I really want it to be accurate or at the very least close to how I want him to sound.
As for behind closed doors, 👀🔞⤵️
He's so damn loud in bed. I kid you not when I say Snape has to double check if he had the silencing charms up every time and even then, he has to shut Yonal up, either with his fingers in his mouth or making out with him as they fuck. When Yonal is bottoming, he whines and whimpers a lot and when he tops, he says the dirtiest things to Snape lord this man 😩

Hi, kinda a stupid question but is this still happening? Also what will the age rating be?
Yes, it is still happening! Currently, we're mostly focused on script editing, budgeting, and preparing for fundraising ^-^
Due to the violence, strong language, and adult themes in Goncharov, the movie will be rated R.

I didn't like every map in Inquisition, but the elven ruins were some of the best parts of it. Sometimes I think about how Suledin Keep was laid out where you're running through this kind of mazelike environment and then you can glance up at one point and there's this GIANT dread wolf statue watching you from the mountains. that was neat. Arlathan has giant statues too but imo they aren't framed in a very fantastic way where you can get startled like that. and where are the elven prayer puzzles. why can we not show our obeisance to the Evanuris with logic and whimsy :<
I loved Suledin Keep as well!
Especially since, by that point, you've fought your way through red templar camps and the giant behemoths to get to the *heart* of the operation at Suldein. There are red templars, rifts, the people/quarry operation, and then you get to the Keep and, like you said, there's that cool moment where you look up and the Dread Wolf is just LOOMING over you (like Solas in the story!).
Something that really appealed to me with this world was the tangible sense of the past, the consequences of decisions made ages ago, looming over you - the Blights, the Ancient Elves, the Dwarven Empire, Tevinter...the world never let you forget it.
And that's the whole game of DAI - wherever you go there's always traces of the people that came before you, unable to swept away by time or conquerors...and sometimes those people claw their way back to the present like Corypheous or Solas. In Ferelden you find traces of the Avaar and Chasind, In Orlais you find the remnants of the Elves, the Western Approach is dotted with Old Tevinter outposts and the Wardens, and the Hissing Wastes/Storm Coast with the dwarven ruins on the surface! I loved discovering every inch of those maps (large as they were lmao) and it added so much to the world. It made the world feel large! It added to the idea that this world had so much mystery to it - so much lost history.
And Arlathan?
It's a maze, not in a good way, but because parts are cut off only to be opened 'when allowed', and not like in Inquisition where there was a rock-slide or you needed a bridge etc... You're boxed in with glowing doors that tell you 'not now come back later' or water that instantly drowns you, and it's hard to not be taken out of the experience when the game is so very upfront with you that you are not supposed to explore until we say you can.
This game doesn't reward exploration, it has fast travel spots all over the place that seem to discourage it once you find an area. Camps in Inquisition were spread out over large maps but sparingly used in comparison - it still made certain that you explored the world to find new things on your journey from a to b. The quests train you to fast travel, to get to where you need to go - kill, talk, repeat. The game teaches you to look out for crap to break and so my eyes are rooted firmly on the ground because of it. The game can look gorgeous at times, but it doesn't feel like it wants me to look at it too hard, like it will break the illusion of this game lmao.
It's a personal opinion, of course, but my experience with this game was that it made the world smaller, less interesting, and devoid of that mystery and reverence that made this series so compelling. Like you said, there are some cool visuals like those giant statues in Arlathan, but everything else in the map is so condensed and twisting on each other that it's hard to notice them naturally while playing the game.
'Why can we not show our obeisance to the Evanuris with logic and whimsy'
That would be so cool! I can get Andruil's alter having a hunting test - like with the Vir Tanadhal (the way of three trees), which is a hunting philosophy the Dalish have relating to Andruil who is the Goddess of the Hunt. That makes sense - you show deference to her by hunting according to her way.
...but for all of them?
It's a game design choice, I get that -> make it simple, keep it the same...it goes with the repetitive combat and exploration loop of this game. But they really lost out on showing us how the Evanuris differ to each other - how each of them had their own little 'aspect' they had dominion over in accordance to their lore. Why not have a little puzzle for June, God of the Craft? A riddle for Dirthamen, God of Secrets? Have some sort of brazier lighting puzzle for Sylaise, the Hearthkeeper, who gave the elven people fire?
From what we learn in DAI with the veilfire and temple of Mythal we know that they were massively egotistical assholes for the most part, some way more than most. They had their own temples, their own valaslin, their own mythology/legends...giving them all the same prayer puzzle is pretty dull when you consider how different they all are and the efforts they went to to distinguish them. Not that you'd really know in this game - for a game about the 'Elven Gods' there's very little discussion about the rest of them.
But, yeah, to sum it all up: Elven ruins in Inquisition were gorgeous, encouraged you to explore and interact with the lore with veilfire runes, and gave you some gorgeous set pieces like with the giant Dread Wolf statue in Suledin. Inquisition may not have been everyones cup of tea, totally get that, but for me it really captured the wonder of Thedas - the depth of its history...datv unfortunately did not.
#this applies to the whole game! the necropolis / rivain / tevinter...it's all so small - so limiting! Kirkwall feels bigger to me. KIRKWALL#i know i post this a lot but visual design in dai was peak for the series - it's still the most gorgeous game imo#one of my fav areas was the Frostback Basin - it had that 'just before sunset' lighting and then it turned to night with the aurora's...ahh#also all of Trespasser/Descent! literally every location we went to in those dlcs had such a cool vibe to it <3#anyway this turned out really long sorry about that - but i've never been more aware I was playing a video game than with datv#inquisition isn't the perfect game but I love how it made the world feel big! datv made it feel very small in comparison.#obligatory 'its just my opinion' - if you like this game then cool! don't come at me lmao#I initially found the datv gameplay/exploration loop to be fun at first but it lost its charm fairly quickly#more sad/resigned about veilguard now - i have a few posts I'd been writing and editing but no desire to post them :[#thanks for the ask! <3#datv critical#veilguard critical

does alexis influence the Seekers opinion on organics in any way ?
That's a broad and complicated topic! Honestly it depends on the seeker. Thundercracker thinks a lot more about organics than Skywarp etc...
But in general, most seekers see Alexis as the exception to the rule. They're not going to start treating organics with respect just because they respect/fear Alexis. Some will even consider Alexis to not be a 'proper' organic. Organics aren't real people to them.
Alexis is going to influence Thundercracker's opinion on organics a lot. She's the first one he's had to interact with on a regular basis who isn't about to die anytime soon. (Starscream has kept organic prisoners before. None lasted long). Alexis and Thundercracker are on the same wavelength about a lot of the fucked up shit the Decepticons get up to. He tries to explain to her why Decepticons treat organics the way they do, why it is necessary,
And Alexis won't agree.
That, amongst other events, will force Thundercracker to recon with just how evil the Decepticon invasion of Earth is.
Thundercracker is the exception however. Most seekers won't care enough about organics to think deeply about their morality. Organics are weaker than them, the rest doesn't matter.
Of course, as Alexis grows older, a lot of the lower ranked seekers will consider messing with organics not worth the effort. Firstly because it would upset Alexis, and that pisses off Starscream (never a good survival tactic), and secondly because it would also enrage Alexis. Enraging a young Alexis could end in broken scales.
An adult Alexis?
Let's just say she takes after Starscream.
