(Previous) Sherri lit up when Teddy hugged her and said he’d still play. Yay! Maybe a fun game would calm him down. She excitedly bobbed her head up and down to answer Teddy’s question. Staying in the lab would certainly be the safest option… Although, the thought of playing hide and seek outside was very intriguing. The Skullship was massive! A single game could probably take days! Weeks! But that was an idea for another time. She took a moment to type something on his phone again, hoping to word her rules in the most concise way possible. “i count to thirty now.” Sherri then closed her eyes and put her paws over her ears…

Standing up while only using only one arm— and without being able to put his weight on the other— was a daunting task. Or at the very least: Time-consuming.

Teddy managed. But by now he doubted he had much time to hide. He sighed before gently resting his hand on Sherri Jr’s and waiting for her to notice.

“Wait... could we please start over?”

But that implied that they had an unequal relationship at the time. “Well… I mean… ” Teddy awkwardly rubbed his head. “The place is made of wood and…” “What if I’m in there when some idiot is cooking and gets their grease-splattered robe too close to the stove, and it spreads when they’re panicking because they never bothered to learn how to handle a grease fire…” As Teddy spun his tale he gradually grew anxious over how plausible such a convoluted scenario was. “…and the only hallway that leads to the exit catches on fire because it’s right outside the kitchen, so I’m trapped on the second floor because the only places I go outside of sermons are there?” Once he had finished he let out a deep sigh and sipped his milkshake while focusing on reassuring himself. Unlike most Glornists he could escape via the vents. But they were dangerous in their own right due to their thermal conductivity… Maybe someone would use one of Mike’s fire extinguishers before it reached that point? The cold helped Teddy ground himself. He held the milkshake to his face for a moment before taking one more sip and putting it down. “More importantly: I needed to prove that I wasn’t a leech.” Teddy gave Bert a tense smile as if convincing him that he was fine would convince himself.

Bert sheepishly twiddled his thumbs in silence as he watched Teddy get himself worked up over his hypothetical. Oops! He didn’t mean to set him off like that. Bert certainly knew how Teddy gets about safety violations. He could only imagine what kind of hazards he witnesses in the Glornch.

He sighed and leaned his head into his hand. “Leech? The only leeches here are those lot. Occupying such a space on the Skullship and contributing nothing in return…”
