I really, really love the detail of Mychael hugging you just a little too tightly before letting you go home. At that point, soft and bittersweet music was playing. You and Mychael are having such a sweet moment. He's laying his heart out to you. "You can't imagine how much that means to me... a lot. It means a lot. More than you know." And you give him a hug. He freezes but hugs you back.

And his grip gets tight. Too tight. The music stops, and the screen dims. Has he never been hugged before and simply doesn't know the appropriate amount of strength to use, or was he planning on... something else? What could've happened had that honking car not made him jump? Last time you said some things that made him feel a certain way, he knocked you out and basically forced you to spend another day with him.

It's such a passively jarring moment that cuts through the tenderness of the scene, reminding you, "Oh, right. This isn't just some soft boy game. It's a yandere game."

Phenomenal vibes. Mushroom Oasis is one of the coziest games I've ever played, and Mychael captured my heart in the first few minutes of us meeting him. I'm working on my own visual novel game for a school project, and I am absolutely taking so much inspiration here. I'm so excited to see what you've got cooking next!

hey there!! i'd been checking this blog for a while, and I really wanted to say you're a great source of inspiration haha! I really love your dog characters and your lore! The amount of research and dedication is really amazing!! about ludovica's gf, do you mind if I come in with my vision as well? I think she'd be a really fluffy dog, maybe with curly hair. so my mind went to the portuguese water dog; but then i thought of two versions: long hair and short hair. so i drew both (tried my best to make her look like a lady and not a grandpa haha)

my star wars hot take will always be that rebels would have worked better in another era. i like some of the characters in rebels but the fundamental concept of “this very small group of people who do everything” works super well for the republic era (where things were actually fought by a small group of separatists and their droids vs the soldiers of the republic) and not for the galactic civil war era which was masses of ordinary people coming together. it would have been cool if they’d set it in the same sort of era as the acolyte or even before that. i like rebels as a story, but i fundamentally disagree with where it’s set.

i promise in every other situation a jedi who wears bright orange to a stealth ops mission, steals from people and makes a lightsaber/gun fusion is my dream character.

i just wanna preface my answer to this with I LOVE REBELS AND I HOPE YOU GUYS HAVE WORKED THAT OUT FROM HOW MUCH I DRAW IT but anon's like... almost right here. rebels' concept isnt "like 6 people who do literally everything" rebels' concept is supposed to be "this hopelessly outmatched and motley group of outcasts try to rebel in whatever way they can". but it comes across as what anon said cause the fundamental issue w this show is that most the time, it's a kids saturday morning cartoon first and story/drama second. which often makes the show/characters feel very tonally inconsistent w its (VERY DARK) setting a lot of the time. and dont get me wrong rebels has some GREAT arcs that feel more in-place with the "6 people help fight galactic fascism" tone and i love this show but i do get what you're saying

At what point do you think Eliot fully trusted each member of the team? Do you think Sophie was the last, given what happened at the end of season 1?

i think people get the meaning of that line wrong, where eliot implies he doesn't trust sophie. to quote john rogers on the matter:

and yeah, exactly. i think the same basic principle applies to the rest of the team. eliot is never going to trust any of them fully - that's not his job. his job is to backup, is being a failsafe, and that means having some working knowlege of where everyone is likely to slip up.

heck, look at the R2 finale. that plays out how it did precisely because eliot didn't trust sophie, eliot knew she was at risk of cutting arthur way too much slack. it's not a personal slight on sophie; he just knows her. he knows all of them. knows their strengths, knows their weaknesses, knows who he can lean on for what. sometimes they surprise him - but you have to remember that on the whole, eliot is an extremely emotionally intelligent character. he's pissed at sophie at the end of season one, and to be honest it's justified - but what it does is inform the limits of what trust he does have in sophie, and that's important. prior to it, it's not that he did implicitly trust her in those areas - just that that was yet to be decided. part of getting to know people is filling out those blindspots.

that said, i think there is definitely a period of time wherein eliot's still growing into working with a team. but by the time events hit the point in the show where things truly are down to the wire, he's got the beats of everything down. look at how neat and tidy his plan is in the zanzibar marketplace job - look at what he offers to do in maltese falcon - look at just the WHOLE of gone fishing, and the fact that he doesn't cut and run as other events in season three progress.
