Thalia decided to tan in the middle of the lake as she always did during sunny days like these. It was also an excuse for her to isolate herself and the thoughts that bothered her. Annabeth had broken up with Percy because of her – or at least that’s what everyone is saying. She needed to get away from all the stares she got. She knew that Annabeth and Percy were having a rough time as a couple, and Percy confided in her for help. Somewhere then, Percy had started falling in love with Thalia and Thalia started feeling the same way as Percy after quite some time though neither of them would admit it. Annabeth, on the other hand, knew nothing of the romance building up or so Thalia thought.

One day, in the middle of the mess hall while everyone was eating.  Thalia looked at the Poseidon cabin and saw that Annabeth and Percy were having a serious talk. Annabeth was close to tears by the time it finished. As Annabeth stood up, Percy buried his head in his hands . Annabeth made her way to the Zeus table and looked down on Thalia and said, “He doesn’t love me. It was always you.” Annabeth was giving her permission to date Percy. Thalia, dumbstruck, didn’t know what to say so instead Annabeth just walked away.  Thalia looked at the Poseidon table and caught Percy’s eye. She raised an eyebrow as if to question and he just nodded in response.  That night, Percy went home and nobody knew when he would come back.

Thalia closed her eyes as the music of Green day blasted through the speakers she had brought to the island. She was trying to contemplate things, because earlier that day, Annabeth had approached her and told her that she was over Percy and that she was going to be happy if Percy and Thalia became an item. Though relieving, this had confused Thalia even more about her feelings towards Percy. Thalia continued thinking when she heard her name being called. That voice, she knew all too well. It was Percy. When did he return? She thought as she sat up and looked for him.  When she saw him, she knew right away her answer to all her thoughts. She loved him.

When Percy was sure that she’d seen him, he started undressing himself and jumped into the lake from his cabin and started swimming. Thalia, too, did the same. They met halfway. Percy looked her straight in they eyes – blue meeting blue. “I love you,” he said, before kissing her. “Now, you know.” He said, before letting her go and swimming back.
