Waitress
Waitress - Broadway - March 30, 2016 (Preview) (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Jessie Mueller (Jenna), Keala Settle (Becky), Kimiko Glenn (Dawn), Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter), Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Eric Anderson (Cal), Dakin Matthews (Joe), Nick Cordero (Earl) NOTES: Beautiful capture of this stunning Broadway transfer. This is the performance where the set broke and Sara Bareilles came out while it was being fixed. She sang (a cut song from the show and Part of Your World) and talked with the audience, which is included. A+ Waitress - Broadway - June 14, 2016 (SJ Bernly's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Jessie Mueller (Jenna), Keala Settle (Becky), Kimiko Glenn (Dawn), Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter), Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Eric Anderson (Cal), Dakin Matthews (Joe), Nick Cordero (Earl) NOTES: Fantastic performances from the entire original cast. Jessie’s voice fits beautifully with the score, and she gives a gut-wrenching performance of She Used to Be Mine. Drew, Kimiko, Keala, and Christopher are each hilarious and endearing. Nicely captured with just a few quick dropouts and no major blackouts. There is one head on the left that can occasionally be seen, but it never blocks the action. There is some slight washout in some of the wider shots. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. Waitress - Broadway - July 20, 2016 (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Jessie Mueller (Jenna), Keala Settle (Becky), Stephanie Torns (u/s Dawn), Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter), Jeremy Morse (u/s Ogie), Eric Anderson (Cal), Dakin Matthews (Joe), Nick Cordero (Earl), Charity Angél Dawson (Nurse Norma), McKenna Keane (Lulu), Ragan Pharris (s/w Francine Pomatter), Molly Hager (Mother), Ryan Vasquez (Father) NOTES: Beautiful HD capture with no obstructions of this charming show. Kimiko was on leave and Stephanie steps into the role, doing a wonderful job as Dawn. Terrific cast and performances! A+ Waitress - Broadway - October 26, 2016 (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Jessie Mueller (Jenna), Charity Angél Dawson (u/s Becky), Caitlin Houlahan (Dawn), Henry Gottfried (u/s Dr. Pomatter), Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Eric Anderson (Cal), Dakin Matthews (Joe), William Popp (Earl) NOTES: Excellent HD capture of the replacement cast members. The show is still in wonderful shape with a terrific cast and stellar performances! A Waitress - Broadway - April 19, 2017 (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Sara Bareilles (Jenna), Charity Angél Dawson (Becky), Molly Jobe (u/s Dawn), Chris Diamantopoulos (Dr. Pomatter), Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Eric Anderson (Cal), Dakin Matthews (Joe), Will Swenson (Earl), Anastacia McCleskey (Nurse Norma), Stephanie Torns (Francine Pomatter), Molly Hager (Mother), Matt DeAngelis (Father) NOTES: Beautiful HD capture of the new cast change as the composer, Sara Bareilles takes over Jenna. Her performance of "What Baking Can Do" will knock you onto the floor! Terrific and fresh cast with a ton of exciting energy! A Waitress - Broadway - June 29, 2017 (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Betsy Wolfe (Jenna), Charity Angél Dawson (Becky), Molly Jobe (u/s Dawn), Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter), Jeremy Morse (u/s Ogie), Eric Anderson (Cal), Dakin Matthews (Joe), Joe Tippett (Earl) NOTES: Beautiful HD capture of Betsy joining and Drew returning to the cast. Betsy remains one of my and Broadway's new unstoppable leading ladies, which is clearly stated in this role! A Waitress - Broadway - August 6, 2017 FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Betsy Wolfe (Jenna), Charity Angél Dawson (Becky), Molly Jobe (u/s Dawn), Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter), Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Eric Anderson (Cal), Dakin Matthews (Joe), Joe Tippett (Earl), Anastacia McCleskey (Nurse Norma), Ella Dane Morgan (Lulu), Stephanie Torns (Francine Pomatter), Molly Hager (Mother), Matt DeAngelis (Father) NOTES: Not the best filmed, but the audio is great and it’s the full show and the only known video of Christopher and Betsy together. Occasionally filmed vertical (but the video stays locked horizontally during that portion unfortunately) and edited together with horizontal footage. Lots of washout but what is captured is very interesting to see without all of the zooms in other videos. Waitress - Broadway - May 26, 2018 (Highlights) (StarCuffedJeans's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Katharine McPhee (Jenna), NaTasha Yvette Williams (Becky), Caitlin Houlahan (Dawn), Brandon Kalm (u/s Dr. Pomatter), Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Benny Elledge (Cal), Steve Vinovich (Joe), Ben Thompson (Earl) NOTES: Three minutes of highlight footage including "It Only Takes a Taste" and "What Baking Can Do." Waitress - Broadway - June 27, 2018 (Matinee) (Highlights) (StarCuffedJeans's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Stephanie Torns (t/r Jenna), NaTasha Yvette Williams (Becky), Caitlin Houlahan (Dawn), Erich Bergen (Dr. Pomatter), Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Benny Elledge (Cal), Bill Nolte (Joe), Ben Thompson (Earl), Anastacia McCleskey (Nurse Norma), Molly Jobe (s/w Francine Pomatter), Keri René Fuller (t/r Mother), Kayla Davion, Law Terrell Dunford, Tyrone Davis Jr NOTES: Act 1 Only. A lot less drop-outs/wandering than in my Mean Girls video. There are almost no obstructions. This footage has some white-out at times, but is overall a good capture with a lot of really beautiful close-ups. Waitress - Broadway - August 10, 2018 (Highlights) (sorrynotsorry's master) FORMAT:  MOV (HD) |  TRADER'S NOTES: Act 1 only CAST: Katharine McPhee (Jenna), NaTasha Yvette Williams (Becky), Katie Lowes (Dawn), Erich Bergen (Dr. Pomatter), Adam Shapiro (Ogie), Benny Elledge (Cal), Bill Nolte (Joe), Ben Thompson (Earl), Anastacia McCleskey (Nurse Norma), Stephanie Torns (Francine Pomatter), Molly Hager (Mother), Matt DeAngelis (Father) NOTES: Act two only, recorded vertically from a box with obstructed view of the stage. Very steady camera, excellent audio quality, and pretty good video! Waitress - Broadway - October 2, 2018 (hitmewithyourbethshot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Nicolette Robinson (Jenna), NaTasha Yvette Williams (Becky), Katie Lowes (Dawn), Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter), Adam Shapiro (Ogie), Benny Elledge (Cal), Bill Nolte (Joe), Ben Thompson (Earl), Anastacia McCleskey (Nurse Norma), Mariam Bedigian (Lulu), Molly Jobe (s/w Francine Pomatter), Molly Hager (Mother), Brandon Kalm (s/w Father) NOTES: First Video with Breast Cancer Awareness Costumes. Waitress - Broadway - January 12, 2019 (StarCuffedJeans's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Sara Bareilles (Jenna), Anastacia McCleskey (u/s Becky), Lenne Klingaman (Dawn), Gavin Creel (Dr. Pomatter), Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Benny Elledge (Cal), Larry Marshall (Joe), Ben Thompson (Earl), Tiffany Denise Hobbs (s/w Nurse Norma), Riley Summer Perler (Lulu), Stephanie Torns (Francine Pomatter), Molly Hager (Mother) NOTES: There's a good amount of obstruction, and I took the opportunity to rest my hand whenever Joe was onstage...but pretty much everything that matters (or at least everything that the master cares about) is captured well. Sometimes we're on a slant and sometimes things aren't centered. Deal with it. I did the best I could while feeling comfortable and it's HD. Waitress - Broadway - January 5, 2020 (Closing Night) (StarCuffedJeans's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (SD) |  TRADER'S NOTES: Act 2 only CAST: Katharine McPhee (Jenna), NaTasha Yvette Williams (Becky), Caitlin Houlahan (Dawn), Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter), Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Benny Elledge (Cal), Larry Marshall (Joe), Ben Thompson (Earl), Dayna Jarae Dantzler (Nurse Norma), Delaney Quinn (Lulu), Stephanie Torns (Francine Pomatter), Molly Hager (Mother), Henry Gottfried (Father) NOTES: This recording is the result of two separate releases merged into one—please note that not all traders have both acts so check with traders. The following notes are for the Act One release—screencaps below include the separate Act Two. Blurry HD capture of the final Broadway performance. Act One only, it’s a perfectly aimed video with no obstructions but unfortunately all of the Act is blurry and very little details can be made out. Waitress - Broadway - April, 2019 (StarCuffedJeans's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Shoshana Bean (Jenna), Charity Angél Dawson (Becky), Molly Jobe (u/s Dawn), Jeremy Jordan (Dr. Pomatter), Eddie Jemison (Ogie), Benny Elledge (Cal), Larry Marshall (Joe), Ben Thompson (Earl), Melody A Betts (Nurse Norma), Tess Murphy (Lulu), Stephanie Torns (Francine Pomatter), Molly Hager (Mother), Dan Tracy (Father) NOTES: A nearly perfect video and ABSOLUTELY PERFECT performance. Small obstructions occur at Joe's table (but who cares) and during Negative. The rest of show, however, is captured gorgeously (and this time not diagonally). The video is very Shoshana focused, but I try to give everyone (yes, Jeremy too) their moments. The colors are absolutely vivid and I was trying new stabilization settings on my camera and god I'm gonna keep it this way. Do not list this video with an exact date. Waitress - Broadway - August-September, 2016 (Highlights) (anstergam's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Jessie Mueller (Jenna), Keala Settle (Becky), Jenna Ushkowitz (t/r Dawn), Eric Anderson (Cal) NOTES: Highlight of the opening number, with a rare glimpse at Jenna's short-lived performance of Dawn. 1080p60 YouTube rip of an unreleased full video. Gifted upon request. Waitress - Broadway - August, 2019 (StarCuffedJeans's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Alison Luff (Jenna), Charity Angél Dawson (Becky), Colleen Ballinger (Dawn), Mark Evans (Dr. Pomatter), Todrick Hall (Ogie), Benny Elledge (Cal), Richard Kline (Joe), Ben Thompson (Earl), Dayna Jarae Dantzler (Nurse Norma), Delaney Quinn (Lulu) NOTES: Excellent HD capture of internet sensation Colleen Ballinger and Todrick Hall's return to Broadway! There are a couple lengthy dropouts throughout Act One. Todrick is honestly one of the best Ogies on Broadway despite the key change and Alison's emotion as Jenna is breathtaking as always. Please do not post screenshots of this video on Twitter ever. Gifs on Tumblr are okay after the NFT date, but don’t go linking things to actors and shows. Waitress - Broadway - January, 2019 (NYCG8R's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Sara Bareilles (Jenna), Charity Angél Dawson (Becky), Lenne Klingaman (Dawn), Gavin Creel (Dr. Pomatter), Tyrone Davis Jr (u/s Ogie), Andrew Fitch (u/s Cal), Larry Marshall (Joe), Ben Thompson (Earl), Anastacia McCleskey (Nurse Norma), Molly Jobe (s/w Francine Pomatter), Molly Hager (Mother), Dan Tracy (Father) NOTES: Filmed early in Sara's third run, before she added new riffs, but she still gives off a wonderful performance to a very reactive audience. Waitress - Broadway - July, 2019 (StarCuffedJeans's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Alison Luff (Jenna), Dayna Jarae Dantzler (u/s Becky), Caitlin Houlahan (Dawn), Mark Evans (Dr. Pomatter), Noah Galvin (Ogie), Benny Elledge (Cal), Richard Kline (Joe), Ben Thompson (Earl), Arica Jackson (u/s Nurse Norma), Everleigh Rottuno (Lulu), Stephanie Torns (Francine Pomatter), Molly Hager (Mother), Dan Tracy (Father) NOTES: Beautiful HD capture of a lot of new and old cast members, including newcomers Alison, Mark, and Noah, along with Caitlin’s return to the role and Richard’s short temporary residence in the Broadway company. Dayna is absolutely hilarious as Becky. Act One starts shortly after Earl's entrance. Please do not post screenshots of this video on Twitter ever. Gifs on Tumblr are okay after the NFT date, but don’t go linking things to actors and shows. Waitress - Broadway - May, 2018 (NYCG8R's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Katharine McPhee (Jenna), NaTasha Yvette Williams (Becky), Caitlin Houlahan (Dawn), Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter), Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Benny Elledge (Cal), Ben Thompson (Earl), Tiffany Mann (t/r Nurse Norma), Stephanie Torns (Francine Pomatter), Keri René Fuller (t/r Mother), Matt DeAngelis (Father) Waitress - Broadway - November, 2019 (StarCuffedJeans's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Jordin Sparks (Jenna), NaTasha Yvette Williams (Becky), Caitlin Houlahan (Dawn), Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter), Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Benny Elledge (Cal), Al Roker (Joe), Ben Thompson (Earl), Dayna Jarae Dantzler (Nurse Norma), Sophia Rodriguez (Lulu), Stephanie Torns (Francine Pomatter), Molly Hager (Mother), Dan Tracy (Father) NOTES: Good HD capture of Jordin’s brilliant take on the main role. Act One starts right when “The Negative” begins. Act Two begins just a few lines into the Act. There are a couple of dropouts throughout the show but none lasting more than 10 seconds, with most being significantly shorter than that. Some very slight wandering as the master changed camera angles or focused on someone taking photos of the show with an iPhone. Please do not post screenshots of this video on Twitter ever. Gifs on Tumblr are okay after the NFT date, but don't go linking things to actors and shows. Waitress - Broadway - September, 2018 (NYCG8R's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Nicolette Robinson (Jenna), NaTasha Yvette Williams (Becky), Katie Lowes (Dawn), Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter), Adam Shapiro (Ogie), Benny Elledge (Cal), Bill Nolte (Joe), Ben Thompson (Earl), Anastacia McCleskey (Nurse Norma), Mariam Bedigian (Lulu), Molly Jobe (t/r Francine Pomatter), Molly Hager (Mother), Matt DeAngelis (Father) NOTES: Incredible capture of Nicolette's first few days in the role, and the first known video of Adam and Katie. The action is very well followed, filmed from the same seats as the May, 2018 video. The quality is gorgeous, and the closeups are beautiful. Waitress - First National Tour - January 7, 2018 (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Emily Koch (u/s Jenna), Charity Angél Dawson (Becky), Lenne Klingaman (Dawn), Bryan Fenkart (Dr. Pomatter), Jeremy Morse (Ogie), Ryan G Dunkin (Cal), Larry Marshall (Joe), Nick Bailey (Earl) NOTES: Beautiful HD capture with no obstructions. Emily does a wonderful job in the role and has such a powerful voice! Waitress - First National Tour - July 29, 2018 (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  VOB (no smalls) (SD) CAST: Desi Oakley (Jenna), Charity Angél Dawson (Becky), Lenne Klingaman (Dawn), Bryan Fenkart (Dr. Pomatter), Jeremy Morse (Ogie), Ryan G Dunkin (Cal), Larry Marshall (Joe), Jim Hogan (u/s Earl), Maiesha McQueen (Nurse Norma), Kyra Kennedy (Francine Pomatter), Grace Stockdale (Mother), Brad Standley (s/w Father) NOTES: Great HD capture of the Original Tour Cast. Desi does a wonderful job as Jenna, who has since left the Tour. Great performances! A Waitress - First National Tour - April 27, 2019 (Matinee) (myroadofgoodintentions's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) |  TRADER'S NOTES: Act 1 only CAST: Lulu Lloyd (u/s Jenna), Rheaume Crenshaw (u/s Becky), Ephie Aardema (Dawn), Steven Good (Dr. Pomatter), Jeremy Morse (Ogie), Ryan G Dunkin (Cal), Richard Kline (Joe), Jeremy Woodard (Earl), Tatiana Lofton (u/s Nurse Norma), Alex Tripp (Francine Pomatter), Grace Stockdale (s/w Mother) NOTES: Lulu's third show as Jenna. High def video, some minor obstructions esp towards end of act 2, some occasional white outs, and mild shakiness. Overall an AMAZING capture of Lulu as Jenna. Waitress - First National Tour - April 28, 2019 (myroadofgoodintentions's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Grace Stockdale (u/s Jenna), Maiesha McQueen (Becky), Ephie Aardema (Dawn), Steven Good (Dr. Pomatter), Jeremy Morse (Ogie), Ryan G Dunkin (Cal), Richard Kline (Joe), Jeremy Woodard (Earl), Rheaume Crenshaw (Nurse Norma), Alex Tripp (Francine Pomatter), Lulu Lloyd (Mother) NOTES: High def video, some minor obstructions esp towards end of act 2, some occasional white outs, and mild shakiness and a few jumps. Overall a beautiful capture of Grace as Jenna, her first bootleg after being in the show for over two years!! Curtain call is obstructed due to people standing that could not shoot around Waitress - First National Tour - August, 2018 (Highlights) (anstergam's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Desi Oakley (Jenna), Bryan Fenkart (Dr. Pomatter) NOTES: Bad Idea only. Short clip of an unreleased full video, filmed shortly before Desi left the company. Gifted upon request. Waitress - Pre-Broadway / Cambridge - September 2, 2015 (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Jessie Mueller (Jenna), Keala Settle (Becky), Jeanna de Waal (Dawn), Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter), Jeremy Morse (Ogie), Eric Anderson (Cal), Dakin Matthews (Joe), Joe Tippett (Earl), Giana Ribeiro (Lulu) NOTES: Stunning HD capture of the new PreBroadway Sara Bareilles musical. Beautiful production and equally stunning performances. Jessie as you have come to expect gives a flawless performace with such beautiful and heartbreaking moments, with a matching cast! A+ Waitress - Second National Tour - February 16, 2020 (myroadofgoodintentions's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Bailey McCall (Jenna), Kennedy Salters (Becky), Gabriella Marzetta (Dawn), David Socolar (Dr. Pomatter), Brian Lundy (Ogie), Jake Mills (Cal), Michael R Douglass (Joe), Clayton Howe (Earl) NOTES: Missing a small portion of the beginning of each act. Some shakiness, minor obstructions, but otherwise a brilliant capture of the AMAZING second national tour cast!! Mix of wides and zooms, centered on the action. Waitress - Second National Tour - February, 2020 (2) (Highlights) (anstergam's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Bailey McCall (Jenna), David Socolar (Dr. Pomatter) NOTES: Bad Idea only. 1080p60 YouTube rip of an unreleased full video. Gifted upon request.
Waitress - West End - March 8, 2019 (Opening Night) (Highlights) (hitmewithyourbethshot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Katharine McPhee (Jenna), Marisha Wallace (Becky), Laura Baldwin (Dawn), David Hunter (Dr. Pomatter), Michael Hamway (u/s Ogie), Stephen Leask (Cal), Shaun Prendergast (Joe), Peter Hannah (Earl), Kelly Agbowu (Nurse Norma), Arabella Duffy (Lulu), Olivia Moore (Francine Pomatter), Charlotte Riby (Mother) NOTES: Highlights start at the top of the show and end at the end of Negative Waitress - West End - July 3, 2019 (Matinee) (Highlights) (queenofthedead's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Lucie Jones (Jenna), Charlotte Riby (u/s Becky), Olivia Moore (u/s Dawn), David Hunter (Dr. Pomatter), Mike Hamway (u/s Ogie), Stephen Leask (Cal), Shaun Prendergast (Joe), Peter Hannah (Earl), Kelly Agbowu (Nurse Norma) NOTES: Act 2 only, shot around heads. The heads don't affect much of the action except for the front of the stage near actor's legs, but they never affect any more than that. A majority of the action can be seen and there is very little washout even with there being so few zooms. 3840x2160p, 22.90 GB total. Waitress - West End - July 24, 2019 (queenofthedead's master) FORMAT:  MOV (HD) CAST: Olivia Moore (u/s Jenna), Marisha Wallace (Becky), Ashley Roberts (Dawn), David Hunter (Dr. Pomatter), Blake Harrison (Ogie), Stephen Leask (Cal), Shaun Prendergast (Joe), Peter Hannah (Earl), Nicole Raquel Dennis (u/s Nurse Norma), Juliette Clemens-Lary (Lulu), Charlotte Riby (Mother) NOTES: Liv’s 5th show as Jenna. A few heads in front but worked around them as best I could and I don’t think much was missed. Minimal zooms, if there are multiple things happening on stage it tends to capture them all and for the most part it’s smooth footage. Goes out of focus at the end for about a minute (ushers) which is shown in the photos. This is also the show where David put cream in Nicole’s mouth in Pomatter Pie. Waitress - West End - August, 2019 (hitmewithyourbethshot's master) FORMAT:  MTS CAST: Lucie Jones (Jenna), Marisha Wallace (Becky), Sarah O'Connor (u/s Dawn), Piers Bate (u/s Dr. Pomatter), Blake Harrison (Ogie), Stephen Leask (Cal), Andrew Boyer (Joe), Peter Hannah (Earl), Kelly Agbowu (Nurse Norma), Juliette Clemens-Lary (Lulu), Olivia Moore (Francine Pomatter), Leanne Pinder (s/w Mother), Chris McGuigan (Father) NOTES: Shot around heads and safety barriers, Act One is Opening Up through You Will Still Be Mine and mostly unwatchable except for a few scenes; Act Two is full and much better, includes Act One audio Waitress - West End - December, 2019 (2) (hitmewithyourbethshot's master) FORMAT:  MTS CAST: Sarah O'Connor (u/s Jenna), Sandra Marvin (Becky), Hannah Tointon (Dawn), David Hunter (Dr. Pomatter), Joel Montague (Ogie), Richard Taylor Woods (Cal), Andrew Boyer (Joe), Piers Bate (u/s Earl), Rosemary Nkrumah (Nurse Norma), Lucia De Wan (Lulu), Olivia Moore (Francine Pomatter), Laura Selwood (Mother), Ben Morris (Father) NOTES: MTS, shot around heads and shaky at times but catches many moments beautifully. Waitress - West End - January, 2020 (hitmewithyourbethshot's master) FORMAT:  MTS CAST: Desi Oakley (e/c Jenna), Marisha Wallace (Becky), Hannah Tointon (Dawn), David Hunter (Dr. Pomatter), Nathaniel Morrison (u/s Ogie), Mark Willshire (u/s Cal), Andrew Boyer (Joe), Piers Bate (u/s Earl), Rosemary Nkrumah (Nurse Norma), Olivia Moore (Francine Pomatter) NOTES: Beautiful capture of Desi as an emergency cover Jenna in the West End. Zero obstructions except a couple of heads at the bottom, but they don’t obstruct any of the action on stage. Waitress - West End - July, 2019 (hitmewithyourbethshot's master) FORMAT:  MTS CAST: Olivia Moore (u/s Jenna), Marisha Wallace (Becky), Ashley Roberts (Dawn), David Hunter (Dr. Pomatter), Blake Harrison (Ogie), Stephen Leask (Cal), Shaun Prendergast (Joe), Peter Hannah (Earl) Waitress - West End - March, 2020 (queenofthedead's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (SD) CAST: Sara Bareilles (Jenna), Rosemary Nkrumah (u/s Becky), Evelyn Hoskins (Dawn), Gavin Creel (Dr. Pomatter), Joel Montague (Ogie), Richard Taylor Woods (Cal), Andrew Boyer (Joe), Tamlyn Henderson (Earl), Laura Selwood (u/s Nurse Norma), Madison Worley (Lulu), Olivia Moore (Francine Pomatter), Leanne Pinder (s/w Mother) NOTES: Missing about 2 mins throughout Opening Up. Bar obstructs at the bottom of the shot for action close to the front of the stage but for Waitress this isn't much. Sara and Gavin break in their first scene. Waitress - West End - March, 2020 (2) (hitmewithyourbethshot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Sara Bareilles (Jenna), NaTasha Yvette Williams (Becky), Evelyn Hoskins (Dawn), Gavin Creel (Dr. Pomatter), Joel Montague (Ogie), Richard Taylor Woods (Cal), Andrew Boyer (Joe), Tamlyn Henderson (Earl), Rosemary Nkrumah (Nurse Norma), Lucia De Wan (Lulu), Olivia Moore (Francine Pomatter), Leanne Pinder (s/w Mother), Matthew Rowland (s/w Father) Waitress - West End - May, 2019 (hitmewithyourbethshot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Sarah O'Connor (u/s Jenna), Marisha Wallace (Becky), Laura Baldwin (Dawn), David Hunter (Dr. Pomatter), Jack McBrayer (Ogie), Chris McGuigan (u/s Cal), Stephen Leask (u/s Joe), Peter Hannah (Earl), Nicole Raquel Dennis (s/w Nurse Norma) Waitress - West End - November, 2019 (queenofthedead's master) FORMAT:  MTS CAST: Lucie Jones (Jenna), Sandra Marvin (Becky), Laura Baldwin (Dawn), Michael Hamway (u/s Dr. Pomatter), Joe Sugg (Ogie), Stephen Leask (Cal), Andrew Boyer (Joe), Tamlyn Henderson (Earl), Kelly Agbowu (Nurse Norma), Annabelle Jones (Lulu), Olivia Moore (Francine Pomatter), Charlotte Riby (Mother), Chris McGuigan (Father) NOTES: MTS files. A really nice capture taken from towards the front of the dress circle and with only one head that’s rarely in the way at all. Only action not well captured due to ushers is the start of club knocked up and ~5 mins at the end of never ever getting rid of me. Mike does a great job as Pomatter! Waitress - West End - October, 2019 (hitmewithyourbethshot's master) FORMAT:  MTS CAST: Lucie Jones (Jenna), Kelly Agbowu (u/s Becky), Laura Baldwin (Dawn), David Hunter (Dr. Pomatter), Joe Sugg (Ogie), Stephen Leask (Cal), Andrew Boyer (Joe), Tamlyn Henderson (Earl), Cindy Belliot (u/s Nurse Norma), Juliette Clemens-Lary (Lulu), Olivia Moore (Francine Pomatter) NOTES: Never to be shared publicly on YouTube, Tumblr, Facebook etc.

On Quinn, his childhood, and mainstreaming
TW: this post will contain ramblings about Quinn’s childhood, which, for those who may not know, was a pretty rough one. Specifically, I want to talk about his “mainstreaming,” or the process by which caretakers and guardians forced him at a young age into hearing culture.
Gather round, my friends, because we’re going to take a trip to Tragic Backstory town to talk about Quinn’s childhood. I’ve been thinking a lot about why Quinn is the way he is, and how he manages to stay so resilient despite, to be blunt, all the trauma he’s been through.
I believe, if you go way back in the recesses of the Quinn tag, you will find two different posts which talk about his childhood. This one was the first instance of someone asking for more specific info about Quinn after his first appearance in fic, and though it contains some outdated information about his theatre career, it’s otherwise reliable for learning. The same goes for this one.
What we know: Quinn spent his formative years in foster care after the abandonment/neglect of his biological parents. By approximately age 12, he and his sister were placed under the reluctant guardianship of their paternal grandparents. Quinn’s grandparents really didn’t want to spend their 70s looking after the products of their son’s bad choices, but I imagine it goes down in a way where the state leaves them without much of a choice.
So Quinn and his sister move in with them, and that’s where he’s living at the time he starts college. I think it’s necessary for Quinn to have at least some of a scholarship in order for his grandparents to even consider financing his higher education. As I’ve said, they’re not jazzed about being guardians. But they also have money— and they get checked up on every so often— so Quinn and Tess are never exactly neglected from a monetary standpoint. I imagine there’s a lot of financial guilt-tripping when they do have to invest in them, but...... okay.
Anyway. The actual thing I wanted to talk about in this post is the fact that Quinn is mainstreamed.
Reading my writing, it’s incredibly obvious that he’s mainstreamed, and has been for a long time. If you don’t know what mainstreaming is, I will now define it for you. Mainstreaming is the process by which, from a young age, a deaf or hard of hearing child is “integrated” into hearing environments. This is mostly done for the purpose of attempting to get them used to going to schools that aren’t necessarily acceptable.
I’ve said before and will say again that I’m hearing, and therefore I’m not and never will be fully able to understand Quinn’s experience. But from reading a lot online and speaking to people who are better acquainted with Deaf culture, what I gather is that mainstreaming is considered to be an unfavorable practice from the Deaf perspective. The tried and true saying is that d/Deaf people can do anything a hearing person can do..... except hear. So the idea is that if possible, you very much want to raise a d/Deaf child in their own culture rather than attempting to have them assimilate into hearing culture.
Which leads me to this: the reason Quinn is mainstreamed is because, when he was young, he didn’t have anyone to advocate for him who knew enough about Deaf culture or wanted to put in the effort to help him create his own experience, one that wasn’t catered to hearing culture.
Quinn gets his first hearing aids early. I don’t know exactly what age he is, and I think I’ll stick to not slapping an age on there. It’s somewhere between the ages of 4 and 7, depending on how quickly his hearing gets bad. A big part of the reason he gets tossed around between foster families so much is because they see his hearing as a burden. He has a counselor from the state who teaches him ASL, and also participates in his mainstreaming.
By the time he gets to his grandparents..... Quinn hates those hearing aids. He’s incredibly sensitive to sound, and he just vastly prefers not to wear them. But he’s spent the past little while in the care of foster parents and state workers who insist that he mainstream. Put simply and bluntly, people consider Quinn’s Deafness too much of a burden when the possibility of mainstreaming exists.
Quinn’s grandparents are adamant that he continue mainstreaming. We saw briefly in this ficlet that Quinn does eventually manage to convince them to let him participate in Deaf community events around Grand Rapids, but a.) that takes several years of convincing, and b.) events like the one you see in that ficlet are pretty much the only time they let him embrace his culture.
Is this messed-up? Yeah, absolutely. But these are the same people who wind up cutting all contact with him when they find out he’s gay, so they’re really not the standard of good guardianship or behavior.
I don’t think Quinn sees his grandparents as abusive, at least not until he gets out and gets to college. He definitely recognizes that he doesn’t live in a totally safe environment, given the amount of lying to them that he does, but he doesn’t fully recognize the level of messed-up that his situation is until he’s a young adult.
One might ask, why was Quinn mainstreamed before he got to his grandparents? And the answer is this...... Quinn was already using hearing aids when he got to them, but he was really not doing a whole lot of verbal speaking. ASL was (and still is) his preferred method of communication, and he probably had an aide at school, even though he was going to public, non-specialized school. He was sort of halfway mainstreamed.
Quinn should have had a Deaf advocate while he was in foster care, but he just didn’t. His case was never handled well, and he didn’t have the support he needed. When his grandparents came along, they pretty much just drove the process home. And that is how Quinn winds up going to a mainstream college.
Would Quinn change it, if he could?........ Ahhh... hard to say, because when you think about Quinn’s life, a lot of things happen to him because he is mainstreamed that otherwise wouldn’t happen. He and Nando are the biggest thing, I think, because it’s pretty unlikely he would have wound up going to Kiersey had he not been mainstreamed. Yes, Nando absolutely does take very significant steps (even pretty early on in their relationship) in order to learn about Quinn’s culture and the way he best prefers to communicate.... but I think if Quinn weren’t mainstreamed, their first meeting would have gone a lot different.
Also, theatre. We know that Quinn eventually participates in Deaf theatre, but he gets his start in hearing theatre. I don’t think he would want to give that up, because yes, he hates his hearing aids and all that jazz, but I think one of the very few things he’s grateful for is that they let him act. Not that he wouldn’t be able to act without them; he just would have a lot more difficulty finding theatre companies where they would welcome him in.
And by the way, why did Quinn ever start theatre in the first place if it’s (for the most part) so oriented towards hearing people? Well, good question. For him, it began on social media. Reading about shows, watching clips and stuff, listening to soundtracks. Music— particularly Broadway music— is something Quinn loves even in his pre-hearing aids stage. He likes to “feel” it, and he learns to like to listen to it as well.
So by the time Quinn gets to high school, he’s well acquainted with online theatre kid culture. He sees that they’re putting on a musical, walks onto the audition stage, and.... is a natural. The rest, with regard to his acting career, is history.
Anyway. I’ve gotten on a bit of a tangent, but please know that by no means do I intend to say with this post that “oh, Quinn was mainstreamed and that sucks, but actually it was a good thing because he gets Nando and his acting career because of it.” Yes, Quinn’s life would look a lot different if he weren’t mainstreamed. But it happens to him, and that’s how his life goes, and he manages to hold onto his culture pretty well, all things considered.
So Quinn wouldn’t change his life. I bet he would have liked to have an aide in high school, but he likes theatre and he likes his college, and he likes being himself, in all the nuanced and unique ways he is himself.
And yeah, he hates those hearing aids. When he doesn’t have to be listening, he’s never listening. As an adult in Arizona, he’s a lot more immersed in Deaf culture again than he was able to be when he was living with his grandparents or going to college.
But anyway. I basically wanted to share this post to explain in a little more detail exactly how Quinn winds up where he is when you first meet him at Kiersey. I know literally nobody asked for this, but I hope at least somebody learned something about him from it.

Rules: List your 10 favourite female characters, one per fandom, then tag 10 people (This is difficult for me since I usually have trouble relating or liking female characters due to the way that they’re written but I have some)
1. Joan Watson (Elementary) One of my all time favourite characters, ever. I’m obsessed with her.
2. Tess Mercer (Smallville) She’s just a badass and I love her.
3. Carol Danvers (MCU) I mean I just love her.
4. Donna Noble (Doctor Who) My favourite campanion to date. She’s just so snarky and relatable. Missy is my 2nd favourite so she would have been on this list had it been more than one character per fandom.
5. Peridot (Steven Universe) Honestly, I would die for this literal meme lord. I love her so much like too much. I aspire to be her.
6.  Claudia Donovan (Warehouse 13) Made me want to learn how to hack, plus she’s pretty badass too.
7.  Mercy Thompson (Mercy Thompson Book Series) Another badass. Seriously she’s awesome.
8.  Clarisse La Rue (Percy Jackson book series) I know I know, I do love Annabeth but Clarisse was just amazing.
9.  Alex Munday (Charlie’s Angels series) I love Lucy Liu, ok! It’s my guilty pleasure series.
10. Harley Quinn (DCU) I can’t believe I almost forgot her. For so long, as a child, I wanted to be her. Also catwoman and Poison Ivy and Killer Frost would have made the list had it been longer. Also any female Birds of Prey character.
So I’ve discovered I have so many more than I thought.

thinking about Touched by an Angel
I remember I used to watch that as a kid with my parents, which is kinda weird looking back, with a Catholic-as-in-nationality dad and a Protestant-less-as-Christian-than-not-Catholic mom.
I remember Walker, Texas Ranger too but not so much Dr. Quinn. And Sears commercials.
Anyway, once in LA I went to a Koch-funded libertarian screenwriting seminar because of course I did, and one of the speakers was I believe Valerie Woods
who was a heavyset New Agey black woman, and as I heard her speak was like “omg, this is how they firmed up the voice of Tess”, Monica’s supervisor
that show was pretty Christian and post-Christian at the same time in a way that was really 90s, remember Andrew, the ambiguously gay Angel of Death?
Remember the devil version of Monica? Monique? Also played by Roma Downey?
Remember how she actually showed up the same week (Feb 21-23, 1999) as “Vamp Willow” in BTVS Doppelgangland and there was just something in the water like “oh let’s do the hot predatory evil version of our nice redhead girl this week”
Oh wow it was filmed in Salt Lake City? Of course it was!

1, 5, 11, 13, 14, 16, 19, 21, 23, 32, 43, 50 (Sorry if this is too many there's just a lot of good questions!)
Oof this is long so here’s a cut! Ty for all the questions though ^^
1: I mean, there are some that I can’t remember from like school projects and stuff, but my first real OC was Adrianna Quinn. She could do cool fire and electrical shit.
5: Jonas... I just love him too much... he’s my son and I want the best for him... hhhhnnng
11: Mariah is the living embodiment of sunshine.
13: Tess and Marc can and will make trouble. They are Bastard Children™️.
14: *looks at Jonas, Tess, Ingrid, Poet, Ben, and Westley who you don’t know but you will in a bit* which one? J can’t remember his childhood but spoilers it didn’t end too good for his family. Tess’ parents were killed. Ingrid was neglected and abused. Poet was abused, shunned by society, and had to flee their home universe. Ben went through a lot of shit i haven’t decided on yet. Westley lost his livelihood.
16: I mean... Clive... he can do stuff with plants and he’s one of the more intelligent of the bunch, so he’d probably rock biology.
19: Did this one already ^^’
21: Mariah. She can paint real good, dance decently, and play piano and violin.
23: Well, all of them have changed a lot... in the beginning they were all straight, cis, and white (except for Mariah, who was black from the beginning and my feeble preteen attempt at diversity... you tried, Young Vic... you tried...), and now most of them are coloured and/or lgbtq+, some are neurodivergent, and they’re not all fucking models so yay. On a more specific note, Marcus looked way different and was far more reserved when I created him, and also was called Ellington.
32: Tess, I guess? She be able to kick ass, for one. Kit might also make a good, unsuspecting one.
43: Oh, definitely. I don’t totally know how to describe it, but they’re all sort of geeky idiots that aren’t actually stupid? I’ll be honest they’re all just sorta me but different. Jonas and Poet are me but cooler, louder and more badass, Marcus is me but rowdier and cooler, Mariah is me but nicer and more girly, Josh is me but more reserved yet funny, Clive is me but quieter and a little more stuck up, Tess is me but way more badass, and Ingrid is me but shyer and more wholesome.
50: Uhhh alright OC talk time! Two things:
First is the new character I had to make for my socials project. His name is Arven Westley (goes by Westley), and he’s a gold miner from long ago. He is in his late thirties, is pretty nice, and is almost definitely bi (though he doesn’t know what that means it’s the early times! I can’t resist the gay though look at me). He still needs a lot of development but I just thought I’d tell y’all about him.
Also, if you’ve made it this far, you’re so fucking rad! Having people support me with these characters has been so amazing and I love y’all. I’m glad that I can share them with you. Ilysm ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Rec some of your fave poets on here please?
aahh okay i cannot tell you how happy i am that you asked, gotta spread some love to the community and all that. so in no particular order, here we go!
chel @babymoonpoet  is a wonderful poet with a vivid and original style of their own, and their poetry is super fresh and breathtaking, i love it.
mal @gayred5 is probably one of my favourite poets ever. the first time i read their stuff i forgot how to form coherent thoughts for ages afterwards.
hayden  @rottenbois is someone whose poetry always hits home rlly hard for me.
lydia @autoenyo - i know she doesn’t post poetry very frequently, but her work is absolutely worth the wait. go support her right now, you will not regret it.
tess @clovres - this is her new writing blog, so it’ll likely be empty right now, but i’m excited to see what she’s going to do with it. tess breathes life into words, i kid you not. wait & watch her blow your mind with her magical talent at wordweaving.
shazi  @caliphascheherazade is. well. i have no words but it’s a delight reading her work, always. her way with words is refreshing and she’s always trying new things and writing poetry that shocks me, in the best ways. she’s magic, ok.
noah @emergincy noah’s work is ETHEREAL okay do yourself a favour and read it!!
caleb @caleblovelace … his poetry is like, a soft revolution, or a feeling i can’t put a name to. not to be cliche, but it feels like coming home, or like looking into a mirror after going very long without doing so.
alli @localxangel is wonderful and i love her unique and powerful style of writing!!
chels  @sphncx really knows how to make an impact with her poetry. it’s so vivid and tough.
talia @mortalcoeur has some really innovative ways of presenting poetry, as well as some fascinating content. i’m not sure how to explain what fascinates me so much about their work, but fascinate me it does.
cassidy @saintalice has really innovative and original imagery that paints startlingly clear + evocative images in my head. i love it.
char @streetsiding writes things that draw out emotions and leave me thinking about stuff afterwards. i know that’s not a coherent description, guess i’m just searching for a pompous way to say “meaningful.
charlie @partlycharlie their writing is brutally honest when they want it to be, and gentle and soft at other times.
torin @torinaudoire i’m not sure if they post anymore to be honest, but their writing has been one of my major influences as a poet. torin’s stuff showed me what poetry could be back when i was a smol baby poet.
jude @teethbearer listen, jude’s writing is phenomenal and absurdly uniquely original. you will probably never have read anything like it before.
tanisha @tempestintext has some vivid poetry on her page.
nori @lidlesaun is able to convey so many feelings and things in few words. her poetry is loaded, in the best possible way.
@sparrowghosts takes my breath away with their stuff, but i’m not sure how active they are nowadays. you can read their old stuff  @eggteeth. it’s really very good.
kristy @athenas-daughter writes gentle things that are packed with meaning and vivid imagery and something else that i don’t have a word for, something like empathy.
aya @avolitorial can create a universe with a few sentences. their poetry is beautiful.
quinn @abstractedfocus writes stuff that’s very very good. let’s call it next level. but seriously, their stuff is legendary. takes my breath away each time.
violet @argentophobic his writing’s really soft, but can also be painful, in the best possible way.
omi @boysaturns i get a little glassy-eyed when i think of their poetry. it’s truly marvelous stuff.
karen @calliopen writes bittersweet things and things with brilliant metaphors and everything she writes is soft and beautiful and makes me want to cry
charlie @sewnscar his writing is so overwhelmingly brilliantly out of the world?? i wish i could describe it in a way that would do it justice but sadly, i am a mere mortal
hannah @elexctra  i love hannah’s writing in a way i can’t really express. it gives me a comforting otherworldly feeling, if that even makes sense. truly phenomenal.
mara @exit152 & reyna @porchbirds are both legends in their own right and if you don’t already know this…. what are you doing here, friend
@nobodysflower their writing will change your world. it’s quietly profound, and full of things that remind me that i’m alive
i’m not very sure if @jupiterreed is still posting poetry but their poetry is so good that it makes my heart ache. vivid, painful, real and so impactful. it’s wonderful and it fills me with feelings bigger than myself.
tierney@thorsbian writes things that are vivid and  make me so !!!! to read. when i see her poems on my dash i sometimes feel like hitting reblog even before i’ve finished reading the whole thing, because her stuff is always that good.
eliot @pushkins has such lyrical, soft and resonant poetry, there’s no way you can read it and not be impacted by it in some deep and filling way?? 10/10 would recommend
and !! there are probably more poets who i’ve forgotten, but this has gotten rather long already haha sorry!! all the poets on @wlwocpoetrynet and @sapphosangels are incredible and worth checking out, and my crew on @letterpoems are pretty amazing as well, haha <33
i also have a lit insp blog @revolutionary-petunias where i reblog other people’s writing that inspires me which i made when i was 16 and never bothered updating the description of :’) but anyway. if you want to know what i’m reading at any point or find out when i discover a new poet, gimme a follow. i’m kinda sporadic on there, but the blog isn’t completely dead, i promise.

MY SHIPS AND THEIR MOODBOARDS (Pt 3)
Tumblr media
Tess Howard and Fezco. When Tessa was a kid, she had a huge crush on Fezco but he ignored her, When she was ten, she overheard him telling others that she was an ugly bitch, breaking her. She made it her life's mission to make his life a living hell. But then they had to work together to help keep Rue, who was Tessa's best friend, sober.
Tumblr media
Timothee Chalamet and Polly Carpenter. Polly is the oldest sister of Sabrina and Sarah Carpenter. She met Timothee at Stacy Holland (Tom Holland's only sister) 16th birthday party. She automatically felt a connection with him but due to past relationships, she hid her feelings for him. Timothee, on the other hand, did not. Slowly, she began to fall for him.
Tumblr media
Stacy Holland and Sadie Sink. Stacy is the triplet of Sam and Harry Holland and is the younger sister of Tom Holland. She is an actress and a singer. She was in the cast of Annie with Sadie Sink, causing the two of them to grow really close. When they turned sixteen, they both confessed romantic feelings and had their first kiss.
Tumblr media
Agatha Miller and Lizzie. Agatha is the twin sister of Hannah Miller. She and Lizzie have been engaged in a fling ever since she can remember. But because of the year, neither of them can come out and admit their love for each other. So it stays hidden.
Tumblr media
Nancy Slater and Nick Goode. Nancy is the younger sister of Tommy Slater. She is very studious and doesn't really want to be at this camp. But for whatever reason, she's here. And someone else likes that she is here: Nick Goode.
Tumblr media
Eve Bing and Joey Tribbiani. Eve is the younger sister of Chandler Bing and was raised by him, essentially making them inseparable. After she finds her boyfriend cheating on her, she finds her brother and refuses to leave his side.
Tumblr media
Megan West and Shea Green. Shea is the younger sister of Rachel Green and the only good one, according to Rachel. She moved to New York shortly after Rachel did. It was here where she met Megan West and her daughter, Isa.
Tumblr media
Charlotte Lopez and Quinn Fabray. Charlotte Lopez is the adopted sister of Santana Lopez. She has always had a crush on Quinn but she never thought that Quinn would reciprocate those feelings.
Tumblr media
Deacon Turner and Cody Hawkins. Cody and Deacon grew up about a block away from each other. This caused them to be best friends since they were babies. They started dating when they were 14 and didn't ever stop.
Tumblr media
Sam Evans and December Walsh. December grew up, not really knowing where her dad went. Because of this, December grew up pretty guarded. When she was 12, she discovered that her dad was also the dad of a classmate, Artie. When she got to high school, she refused to associate with her half-brother as it broke her heart, knowing that her dad thought that Artie was the better child. When she met Sam, she could tell that there was a connection, but she refused to get close to him as she didn't want to get hurt. Sam, on the other hand, wanted to show her how much he cared for her.

so i spent pretty much all afternoon tryna find voiceclaims for my main ocs rip me, here ya go. I don't even have names for everyone yet but here we are lol
Nui Till/Pluta: Claudia Black we're just gonna ignore the fact that she already voices Tess in the game shhh. She sounds fairly similar to Chloe Frazer from Uncharted, but a bit more gravely/chill. One special thing about her voice is it has this echo-y sound? Or like there's more than one person talking? She's very attuned to Void and it fucks with her voice. Other weird thing happen with her voice when she's talking through multiple or no mouths (she's (pre-Risen) a byproduct of some weird science experiment bullshitery that's given her a few extra quirks) ((yes it's definitely teetering on being Too Much but it's fun ¯\_(ツ)_/¯))
?/Athena-22: Arleen Sorkin. Literally I just really wanted her to have a thick Northeastern accent and my mind went straight to Harley Quinn. She doesn't really have any specific speech quirks, just that she can switch from casual/friendly talk to enraged in .5 seconds.
?/? (My tavern keeper/titan who I STILL haven't named, i'm slackin over here): Keith David. This character has massive i-take-everyone-under-my-wing-dad vibes and Captain Anderson from Mass Effect really reminds me of that w/ his relationship w/ Shepard. I also wanted this character to have a voice that would be very calming to hear in an audiobook and Keith David can definitely pull that off. This character is literally a warm blanket that wants to make everyone feel welcomed (hence why he runs a tavern in the City).
Laviska Till (Jolyon's sister & Nui's adoptive mom): Jaimi Barbakoff. I wanted her voice to be bright and cheery as she has a personality somewhat akin to Aerith from FF7 (but with a lot more "street smarts" lol). She has a tendency to speak really loud & Jolyon describes her laugh as something akin to a wild animal on drugs (but he respects the fact that she doesn't hold herself back, so he just laughs with her).
i wish i spent this much time on creating actual content for these guys lol
guardian oc question time 👀 do they have an accent? anything special about their speech? any words they tend to use a lot? 👀

January Wrap-Up!
I’m trying something new! I don’t know how sustainable it is, but I want to be more active in telling people about the things that I read! So here goes #1! Hope you like it.
This month I read THREE romance novels. Minor spoilers below!
Tumblr media
Wilde in Love, by Eloisa James
4.5/5 stars
The Hero, Alaric: a celebrated travel author who comes home to find scores of adoring fangirls following his every move, putting posters of his exploits on walls, and an infamous unauthorized play made about his life (that is definitely not true).
The Heroine, Willa: witty, sarcastic orphan, skeptical as to the veracity of the author’s exploits (especially in light of the ridiculous play). Toast of the ton, popular and beautiful, always behaves with perfect propriety, never shows her true nature to anyone. Values privacy above all else. (you can see how this would be a problem, with the adoring fangirls mentioned above)
The best part: THE BABY SKUNK. Willa has always wanted a kitten, so when a passing peddler mentions that he has a tiny baby destined to grow up to be a scarf, our Soft-hearted hero buys the BABY SKUNK for the heroine. Hilarity ensues. Fake engagement also a huge bonus!
The worst part: the weird epilogue. No spoilers, but it was just weird and felt forced.
The Girl with the Make-Believe Husband, by Julia Quinn
3.5/ 5 stars
Loosely based on the movie While You Were Sleeping (one of my faves!)
The Heroine, Cecilia: Searching for her injured brother in the American Colonies during the Revolutionary War, after her father’s sudden death leaves her in a precarious position. Her only lead is that his best friend is in a coma in the hospital nearby. The hospital staff, however, will only let family visit, so she claims to be his wife to gain access.
The Hero, Edward: Second son of an earl, Captain in the British Army wakes up from a week-long coma with three months of memories lost and his best friend’s sister for a wife. Understandably confused, he agrees to help her look for her brother, at the same time piecing together what happened to himself.
The Best Part: the love letters! Cecilia wrote her brother many letters, usually with an addition for Edward, who wrote back. They were half in love with each other before they ever met in person. He recognizes her instantly upon waking from the coma because he’d stolen her picture from her brother’s things many times just to look at her face. Adorable.
The Worst Part: honestly the whole “he thought they were married when they were making love” thing kind of skeeved me out. Like that is some grey area of consent and I’m not really into it. Julia Quinn has had this problem for me before, too. Also she totally could have told him several times that they weren’t married, before it even got to that point. Also the anti-climactic conclusion to the “what happened to her brother” subplot felt really forced and fake. I almost suspect he’s going to turn up later, but who knows?
Much Ado About You, by Eloisa James
4/5 Stars
Our Heroine, Tess: Tess and her three younger sisters have been recently orphaned by their horse-mad father, who poured all of his wealth into his stables, with very little left for his daughters. They’re left in the care of the Duke of Holbrook (who goes by Rafe), a man of approximately 35, who was definitely not expecting his wards to be (mostly) adult women (he bought them rocking horses, it was hilarious and cute).
Our Hero: Lucius: A good friend of Rafe, shunned by his aristocratic mother for the crime of playing the stock market and making himself the richest man in England. Lucius has no depth of feeling for anything, until he sees Tess.
Aside: Tess and her sisters’ personalities seem to be possibly modeled after the Dashwood sisters from Sense and Sensibility, except that there’s an extra. Tess is a clear Elinor: oldest, sensible, responsible (thought to be boring by outsiders). Imogen is beautiful, crazy in love, doesn’t care about her reputation, and drives her sisters insane (A clear Marianne). Josie is only 15 and doesn’t have much of a role in the book, but seems spirited and adventurous like Margaret (although she’s CHUBBY and I’m SO EXCITED to read her book in the future). And then there’s the extra: Annabel, pragmatic and completely anti-romance. Her only aspiration is to marry a rich man so she never has to worry about paying the bills again (has anxiety attacks at the thought).
The best part: The roman bath scene/ initial proposal is pretty funny...and I guess also all the side characters? There isn’t really a clear-cut best part. This is the first book in a series about a family, and a lot of time is spent on sisterly bickering and fleshing out a background for all the characters. That being said they’re all pretty interesting....
The worst part: ...except for Tess and Lucius, who are honestly just a little boring. They kind of have to be, though, because Imogen’s tantrums etc kind of steal the show.  That being said though, this book was still thoroughly enjoyable, and I’m definitely reading the next ones.
To conclude:
I had a lot of fun with these, and my new TBR system seems to be working pretty well so far because I haven’t hit a slump yet! Stay tuned next month for the next 3 of the Essex Sisters books, and hopefully at least one other!

Yuletide Letter 2017
Dear Yuletide Author!
I am super excited to be participating in Yuletide this year! I have never done it before and I am very excited to be a part of this community. I am certain that I am going to absolutely love anything and everything that you create! I am easy to please because I absolutely love being told a story, especially a story about characters that I love so much. A story is one of the greatest gifts ever and I know without a doubt that I am going to love whatever you come up with! You are great and wonderful and awesome!
Like I said, I am super easy to please. I have such a wide range of interests and I like pretty much anything. I am also a huge fan of AUs so if you ever feel inspired to play around in another timeline or universe then feel free to try out those ideas on me! I love fluffy, domestic stories. If you feel particularly inspired by any of the fandoms/pairings, please don’t feel fenced in by a particular prompt (or lack of a particular prompt). Like I said, I’m open to just about anything and I know I’m going to love it all!
AO3/LJ: JackEPeace
Tumblr: pizza-is-my-buziness
The fandoms I have requested this year are: Baby Driver, The Purge, UnReal, Conviction, Galavant and Scream.
Things I Like: AU fics, scary stories, character studies, fluff, canon divergence, fics centered around a female character, fics about characters that no one else likes (usually I am the only person who likes those underdog characters and I have accepted this about myself), soul mate, femslash, road trips, YA novels and stories inspired by YA novels, high school AUs, zombie apocalypse, happy endings.
Things I Dislike: Character deaths (or deaths of central characters), abusive relationships or dubious consent, unhappy endings.
Fandoms and Requests!
1) Baby Driver
Characters: Baby and Debora
Prompt/thoughts: I would love to see a story about Baby and Debora after he gets out of jail. Where do they go? What do they do? Also Baby and Debora talking about music and sharing songs they like!
2) The Purge
Character: Charlie Roan (The Purge: Election Year) ***I also love Liz from Purge: Anarchy
Prompt/thoughts: I am in love with Charlie Roan and think she is the greatest character in all the movies. I would love to see a Charlie Roan character study -how she was before and after her parents/brother were killed in the Purge, her experiences before we met her in the movie. I am not a huge fan of the Charlie x Leo (romantic) dynamic but I LOVE Charlie!
3) UnReal
Characters: Quinn King and Rachel Goldberg
Prompt/thoughts: I love the Quinn and Rachel dynamic both in a romantic way and as a friendship/partnership. Stories of them working together on Everlasting (future or past season) and scenes of them together and their relationship.
4) Conviction
Characters: Tess Larson and Hayes Morrison (also the entire CIU team)
Prompt/thoughts: Tess is my favorite character and I am a huge shipper for the Tess x Hayes ship. I love their dynamic and think that they pair very well together because of how different they are both in personality and goals. However, I think they complement each other very well because some of the similarities they do have. I would love a ship-centric Tess x Hayes fic. I also love murder mysteries and true crime stories.
5) Galavant
Characters: Madalena and Gareth
Prompt/thoughts: I love the ship of Madalena and Gareth and would love to see their dynamic further explored. Any ship centric fic about the two of them would be great. Also Madalena centric fics, where Madalena is learning more about her magical abilities and Madalena maybe even being a queen again because let's be honest she definitely deserves it.
6) Scream
Characters: Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, Dewey Riley
Prompt/thoughts: I would love to see a Sidney-centric character study. Sidney is such an interesting and complex character and I would love to see her thoughts/feelings and more of her backstory (between movies, after Scream 4 etc.) explored!
Thank you for reading my letter! I know that I’ll love whatever you come up with and I can’t wait to enjoy the final product!

Quinn with a Polaroid camera seems just like him :) How long does it take for polaroids of Nando to appear?
Not long at all, anon. 🤍🤍 And thank you; I think it suits him, too! He’s a pretty crafty person.
(This ask references this!)
He hangs his Polaroids with the string lights on the wall in his dorm, framing the pride flag he tacked up next to his bed. Here’s a non-exhaustive list of things he has pictures of during or going into his freshman year.
- His little sister, Tess, laughing at the camera, probably also making fun of him for being a dweeb about taking her photo
- A really nice colorful picture of Tulip Time back home in Michigan
- Taken from the wings, the stage in his high school auditorium
- His elderly Deaf friend from home’s cat, Charles, curled up having big kitty nap hours on her couch
- The magnolia tree outside his high school in full bloom around the time of his graduation
- Copious cast photos from productions he’s been in or worked on (see his theatre scrapbooking habit)
- The Samwell Well, taken on his freshman moving day
- The Pond at peak foliage in October
- His best friend from theatre, Maggie, caught in the act of trying on one of his scarves during some random study date
- This first one of Nando, just chilling in Quinn’s room
- Faber, in that really good mid-afternoon lighting, with Ford, who’s sitting next to him, giving a thumbs-up in the foreground and the team on the ice in the background
- Additionally, him and Nando in Faber, when Nando is fresh off the ice and still completely in his gear, holding Quinn bridal style to truly highlight the comical size difference that exists between Hockey Nando and Regular Old Quinn. Nando is grinning at the camera like a doofus. Ford took this one.
- Nando sitting in Quinn’s bed holding up his DEH script like he means business, during Important Practicing Hours
- The guys who play Connor and Jared, in full costume, clustered with Quinn backstage all staring contemplatively at the same laptop
- Samwell’s campus covered in snow, taken out the window of his room on a morning when classes were cancelled for winter-weather reasons
- On the topic of snow— Nando, Rhodey, and Touille mid-snowball fight right outside their freshman dorm, with a dilapidated snowman in the background
- Maggie wielding a curling iron semi-threateningly in one of the backstage dressing rooms at the auditorium
- Nando, across the table from him at Annie’s, mid-vanilla iced coffee euphoria, wearing the scarf Quinn knit for him, completely unconscious of the fact that he’s about to be photographed
- Some random stray cat that lives behind their dorm, because Quinn just thinks he’s neat, and probably also tries to adopt him
- A DEH closing-night castwide selfie, ft. a photobomb from the sound guy, who was walking by at the exact moment the photo was taken (Quinn stood on a chair to take the picture)
- Rhodey on a blanket on Lake Quad, wearing just sunglasses and gym shorts, dead asleep, trying to get tan and look cool as fuck but sunburning a little in the process
- Springtime, post-playoffs, in the Haus backyard— Nando holding him on his shoulders, and Quinn holding on for dear life. Nando is grinning all proudly in the photographer’s direction. (The photographer was probably Touille.)
- Just him and Nando in his room, taken selfie style, in front of the pride flag on his wall. Nando is kissing his cheek with his arm thrown around his neck, and Quinn is laughing. (This is his favorite one.)
This is just freshman year, and it’s not even a complete list, so you can imagine how much else there is. I feel like you should all know that once Quinn and the boys start to do the clubbing thing, he ends up with copious slightly meme-worthy photos of them pre-going out for the night. And obviously, there are a lot of others too. The possibilities are endless.
Anyway. Yes. We love one (1) camera boy. Thank you for the ask!!
Ask me anything about the crickets!

I saw this thing. I’m answering this thing... even though nobody asked.
So, I saw someone answering this and thought it was sorta cool but I don’t think people will respond anymore so I’m just doing it myself. Self love, ya know.
Talk about the first ship you ever had. Uhhh… I can’t remember which came first Mulder & Scully or Usagi/Mamoru. (The latter being really icky to me now that I’m older, lol.) I think it was Mulder/Scully… I was in primary school for both of these so it’s confusing cos that was a really long time ago.
Talk about three of the most important ships throughout your life. Mulder/Scully (The X Files). I honestly don’t really feel like “talking” about them cos I don’t think it’s very interesting. Also, I have no idea where to begin. Naomi/Emily (Skins) – I fucking can’t stand them now, to be completely honest. I actually sorta hate Emily. By they (and Skins in general) did have a rather huge impact on my life. Now, I feel like I should put Dany/Doreah but really I think more importantly in terms of my life, it would be Marissa/Alex from The O.C. Does that sound stupid? Maybe. But that pairing (as shitty as they treated Alex and the whole relationship by the end) had a fairly huge influence on me. I think it was my first femslash ship that I was totally open about. (I totally shipped Jo/Rachel (and Jo/Rachel/Paul) from S Club 7 (DON’T EVEN!) but back then I didn’t even think it was serious…even though I had a whole website about it, lmao.)
What’s your current OTP? Oh my… Dany/Doreah forever & Marg/Sansa (ASOIAF/GoT). Michelle/Naomi (Skins). Carol/Helen (Episodes). Amanda Rollins/Olivia Benson (SVU). (With a bit of Rollins/Lindsay on the side. SVU/Chicago PD). Niska/Astrid (Humans). … So… Like… A lot? A lot of old OTPs are still OTPs now? Bo/Lauren (Lost Girl). Meg/Veronica (Veronica Mars). Katniss/Johanna (THG). Lou/Tess (Lip Service). Quinn/Rachel (Unreal). Jessica Jones/Trish Walker (Jessica Jones). Virginia Johnson/Lillian DePaul (Masters of Sex)………I think even my few het ships I’m still not totally over (Chase/Cameron, Mulder/Scully, Martin/Sam, etc) but I mean, I don’t really care either.
What’s your current NOTP? Any of the above characters paired with men. Simple. I have a lot of nOTPs tbh. Most canon ships are NOTPs lmao. Although… I guess Patsy/Delia is a current NOTP of mine. Don’t shoot! I just don’t care for them. They are boring to me.
Do you have any poly ships? I was sorta into Marissa/Alex/Ryan (The O.C.). I started a fic about them. And the aforementioned Jo/Paul/Rachel.
How do you feel about love triangles? Lazy. The thing is, they’re a real thing. I’ve been a bunch and they’re just uncomfortable. No matter what, somebody gets hurt. I just feel like in TV/films they’re SO LAZY. An easy way to create drama for drama’s sake. And one faction of fandom is always upset. And usually they’re really shoddily designed so it’s like one girl, 2 boring ass boys fighting for her WHO WILL SHE CHOOSE?! BLAH……. Boring. “The triangle’s not a friendly shape, okay? It’s pointy. It’s got edges. Triangles hurt people, man.”
How do you feel about RPF? Nope. I’m a bit of a hypocrite cos I spent a great deal of time in my childhood sorta straddling the very thin line here with the whole S Club 7 thing. And, I’ll admit, I did enjoy this April Pearson/Lily Loveless fic once.
Have you ever shipped yourself with a character? No. Usually my favs feel a little too relatable which is why I’m attached to them, not cos I wanna bone them. Also, way too much drama. I mean, fictional characters are almost always exaggerated people.
Do you have many ships that never got together at all? All? LMAO. Okay, let’s see… Sam/Martin did, briefly (Fuck Without A Trace tbh. What a horrid little show.) Chase/Cameron were together and that ended badly as well. Carol/Helen, also ended horribly (so far). Mulder/Scully… that’s difficult. They’re difficult. Marissa/Alex, ended horribly. Naomi/Emily, technically… hmmm. Well, as of S4 they were back together but I didn’t buy it and I pretty much loathed Emily by that point so fuck em. That ended badly too. It ended horribly if you count S7–which I don’t cos I never watched it. If I didn’t see it, it didn’t happen. Bo/Lauren. Okay, this may be the only bright light in all my ships, lmao. They were together and then not, then together, then not, then END GAME. So, I guess the ones that never got together??? Basically just look above at my OTPs and see all the ones I didn’t mention here ending horribly lol.
Do you ship any characters that have never met? ONLY THE BEST ONE: MICHELLE/NAOMI.
Talk about your favorite first kiss. Like in canon onscreen? Or in my head? Big diff. Chase & Cameron maybe. I loved that episode. Mulder & Scully’s first (onscreen) kiss was a bit weird. I don’t remember Sam/Martin tbh. Hmm… Marissa/Alex was hella stilted and awkward prolly cos it was on FOX and like Mischa Barton is a terrible actress. Bo/Lauren’s first kiss was pretty good. Yeah, I really liked that one. Mostly cos it didn’t fade to black immediately (ahem, Carol/Helen) and it wasn’t set to ‘I Kissed A Girl’ (Naomi/Emily)… Okay, in fairness that was only the American version. The one I saw had Lily Allen playing instead… But still. I loved that episode but it wasn’t the best first kiss I’ve ever seen.
Have you ever been disappointed when your ship finally got together? Yes, when they get together only to end even shittier. Which is basically all of them except Bo/Lauren.
Has a ship ever broken your heart? All of them. Canon and otherwise. My heart breaks on a regular basis.
How do you feel about will they/won’t they? Ugh. Useless. Generally, it’s queerbaiting when it’s my femslash OTPs. When it’s het, I’m just like, “As if these two lonely, outrageously attractive co-workers wouldn’t have banged already. Like, give me a break and just do it already. Who believes this shit?”
Have you ever “shipped at first sight”? Lemme think… Probably? I can’t actually recall any specifics however. Not Mulder/Scully, I know that. The first time I saw them, it was New Year’s Eve and I spent the entire show huddled on the sofa in my friend’s basement with her and her cousins, shaking and screaming, lmao. The X-Files really isn’t great TV for easily scared children with big imaginations, lbr.
Talk about a ship you initially disliked. One that I like now that I disliked previously? Erm. None. I don’t flipflop on ships, lbr. It goes like this: I am oblivious/indifferent to ship, depending. I see ship. I ship ship. I love ship. And it’s only then that this can diverge. Either I stay in love forever, or I end up positively hating the show/pairing and I stop shipping it, or it just kinda dies out over time. Normally it’s the first or second, rarely the third.
Talk about a pairing you’ve stopped shipping romantically. And now just ship them only as friends? Or stopped shipping them and dislike them now and don’t want to have anything to do with them? The latter is clearly Sam/Martin. I just hated how the characters were written and the show was fucking awful after S3. The former… Ah, the former. I think this really has to be Naomi/Emily. I am 1457% Naomi/Michelle, no alternatives accepted. Naomily is toxic imo. Like so incredibly nope. I am -100000% Naomily. I stopped shipping them mid-S4, probably during Katie’s episode. I was just like, “Nope, this is pretty gross and not healthy and what the fuck?! I gave up completely at the finale when it was so fucking stupid. I think by then I’d already had my Michelle/Naomi dream… Anyway. Like, I literally cannot handle Naomi/Emily anymore. At most, I can deal with them as friends. But even then, sometimes I wonder if writing them that way in my fics is pandering in some sense. It’s not intentional pandering to Naomily stans… but, now I look back and wonder? They’re just so awful together romantically. I shudder.
Talk about a moment which made you question an entire ship. Hmmm…. Carol/Helen in Griffith Park in 4x09 when she makes Carol give back her bra. That whole episode was really nasty and really awful and not funny at all. I really dislike the writing there. It was just… Helen was just disgusting really and it made me really uncomfortable about shipping it. I have other examples but it only asked for one.
Have you ever shipped something despite yourself? She-Ra and He-Man. I had no idea they were brother and sister when I was little but I thought they were cute together. Oops. It wasn’t until a few years back when I mentioned them at a party and everyone was like, “Errr, you do know they were twins, yeah?” NO. I DID NOT.
Talk about a ship you feel alone in shipping. Carol/Helen. I feel like the few people that shipped it with me on tumblr here were really turned off by their breakup. And also, it’s been on hiatus forever. Also, I suppose Claire Dearing/Zara Young from Jurassic World, lmao.
Is there a ship you just don’t get, but have nothing against? Most het ones? Like, just… why would you be with that puffy wonderbread boy when you could be with this other hot lady and have 10003x times more chemistry and interestingness? (Like I mean, I’m totally talking about Erin Lindsay and that gay dude she’s fucking, when it would be so much better if she was with Rollins, lmao. You go watch the crossovers episodes and tell me I’m imagining that.) Other het ships, I have definite things against the men.
Which of your ships have the best chemistry? OH GOD. Now, ermmmm…. this depends almost exclusively on my own headcanon/bias so obvs others aren’t likely to agree. Cos, well, Michelle/Naomi have hella chemistry LMAO. Like just look at this photo. Clearly. Okay, seriously… Bo/Lauren. Like hands down, undoubtedly.
Which of your ships deserve better writing? Every single one of them. Especially Dany/Doreah lmao.
Do you mostly ship canon pairings? Clearly not.
Have you ever shipped a pairing before you even started watching the show/movie simply because of gifs and graphics or similar? Skins. Lost Girl. Actually, hmm. I saw gifs of LG but I guess it wasn’t until I saw Zoie Palmer at a film premiere I went to that I was like, “WHO IS THAT?!” And then I realised I had to start watching that programme.
Have you noticed a pattern in your shipping? Is there a romantic dynamic you’re more drawn to? Blonde/Brunette. Like, it’s really obvious. But not 100%. Otherwise, I don’t really see any substantial patterns.
Is there a ship you’ve shipped for most of your life? Mulder/Scully.
Does shipping come easily to you? Neither here nor there. If it clicks, it clicks.
Do you need to ship something to really enjoy a movie/book/tv show/comic? Most of the time. But then sometimes shipping gets in the way of my enjoyment cos it becomes all about the pairing.
Name a couple of fandoms in which you have no ships. Fortitude? Honestly… I don’t even know. I watch a bunch of TV I have no particular interest in shipping anybody. Oh! Here’s one NASHVILLE. I honestly do not care who’s with whom. It’s irrelevant.
Talk about one of your favorite headcanons for a ship you love. Dany/Doreah – Doreah is alive. That’s it. That’s the headcanon. (And bonus, Dany takes Doreah to Lys and burns down the pleasure house Doreah was sold to as a child.) I have to add that most of my fav headcanons revolve around one half of my OTP still being alive. Which is both sad and really telling. (Like… Doreah, Margaery, Naomi, Meg, Marissa, Lillian… Ouch.)
Share five must-read fics. I’m trying really hard not to rec my own shit cos I just love my headcanons too much. Okay, here: They Will Crown You, They Will Take Your Legs by (Netgirl_y2k); tie your handlebars to the stars (and throw away the map) by (majesdane); my heart is gold and my hands are cold by (quinnking); If you’re gonna shoot me down, do it gently by (aphrodite_mine); I Can’t Get Out Of Love (a love i had a grip on; now it’s gripping me) by (doreah) hahahahahahahahaaaa i will do whatever i want when i want to force this pairing on everyone
Name your favorite fanartist(s). IDK??????????
Share your favorite fanmix for your OTP. Dany/Doreah: actually… oops. my fav fanmix for them is on my ipod and nowhere else lmao. it’s really good hahahah. anyway… um. so i’ll choose one that’s not mine: i’ll send a storm (most of mine are either doreah-specific or based on my fic which is a lot of headcanon and this one has excellent musical choices. that first track is killer.) Meg/Veronica: song of solomon (your poetry in motion) Chase/Cameron: i’m all second chances Michelle/Naomi: can’t get out of love Bo/Lauren:  it’s killing me, it’s killing you, a page from the book of my fantasy
Recommend 1-5 shipper blogs. Pass. I don’t even know any…
Do you create fanmixes/gif sets/fanart/fic/fanvids and so on for you ships? Used to. Obvs.
Do you have a favorite trope and/or AU for your OTP? Half of it not being dead.
Do you like and use ship names? I generally stay away from them unless I to find stuff/want people to find my stuff on tumblr. I find them cloying.
Is there a fictional relationship you’d really want for yourself? Hell no. Real life is difficult enough.
If you could change one thing about your OTP, what would that be? They would all be alive. Sensing a pattern? Also, being canon would be nice.

For the week of 30 September 2019
Quick Bits:
Absolute Carnage: The Immortal Hulk #1 is an absolute must if you’re reading The Immortal Hulk, even if you’re not following Absolute Carnage. Though it does deal with how Hulk is working with the rest of the gang in the event, here Al Ewing, Felipe Andrade, Chris O’Halloran, and Travis Lanham elaborate on how Bruce’s alters work, including an appearance from a much-missed old friend, and deals with some ongoing plot points like Betty’s change, Ross’ status, and Jones’ recuperation.

Batman #80 starts the turn for the “City of Bane” arc as John Romita Jr., Klaus Janson, and Tomeu Morey come aboard for the art duties, and Batman and Catwoman return to Gotham. I really like the stylization here, it fits the overall shift in direction and it’s just nice to see Romita and Janson back together.

Tumblr media
Berserker Unbound #3 is another brilliant issue of this series from Jeff Lemire, Mike Deodato Jr., Frank Martin, and Steve Wands. This one gets to the heart of the existential crisis that the Mongrel King is having in a time that neither he understands or understands him. Though, there are some nice attempts at communication and some great character moments.
| Published by Dark Horse
Tumblr media
Birthright #40 is pretty huge as it essentially rounds out the current Mastema arc. Joshua Williamson, Andrei Bressan, Adriano Lucas, and Pat Brosseau make a pretty dramatic turn here, with some interesting ramifications.

Tumblr media
Black Cat #5 delivers a fairly funny conclusion to this heist as Felicia and her crew have to overcome Blastaar. Jed MacKay, Travel Foreman, Brian Reber, and Ferran Delgado are consistently giving us an entertaining and compelling story here with an ongoing narrative broken into discrete, separate pieces that can ultimately be enjoyed on their own.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Black Terror #1 features a rather unique take on the character, and on superheroics in general, from Max Bemis, Matt Gaudio, Brittany Pezzillo, and Taylor Esposito. This explores what happens when the Black Terror hangs up his boots, self-medicates for his problems, and begins to suffer withdrawal from the superhero business. It’s all rather...disturbing, but still entertaining.
| Published by Dynamite
Tumblr media
Breaklands #2 starts building up the cast as Kasa falls in with a number of other people to help and rescue her brother. Though there are elements of familiar post-apocalypse narratives here, what Justin Jordan, Tyasseta, Sarah Stern, and Rachel Deering are creating here feels incredibly fresh and different.
| Published by Justin Jordan
Tumblr media
Canto #5 is fairly action-packed as Canto and crew bring the fight to the Furies. It’s a different change of pace here, but we still get some intriguing symbolism and advancement of the fable narrative in rather inventive ways. David M. Booher, Drew Zucker, Vittorio Astone, and Deron Bennett are driving us towards the end here and I feel like it’s going to be a big one.
| Published by IDW
Tumblr media
Contagion #1 is probably going to get some comparisons to Marvel Zombies and DCeased, running through similar horror territories, but it doesn’t really matter. While the elements may familiar, it’s still an entertaining start to this series from Ed Brisson, Rogê Antônio, Veronica Gandini, and Cory Petit.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Copra #1 begins a second volume of Michael Fiffe’s previously self-published series, dropping us into the middle of action, picking up where the last series left off. While it is at least initially a bit confusing, Fiffe does include plenty of information, including an issue-by-issue breakdown of the previous series, to get people up to speed. It’s basically ‘80s-inspired superheroics.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
Daredevil #12 is more magnificence. Chip Zdarsky, Marco Checchetto, Nolan Woodard, and Clayton Cowles continue “Through Fear” as Matt has an...unfortunate confrontation with crooked cops beating up a Daredevil stand-in and Fisk has a meeting with the rich “elite”. I really quite like the parallels of both of them falling back on old/new tricks.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Dark Ark: After the Flood #1 begins the very welcome next chapter in this story from Cullen Bunn, Juan Doe, and Dave Sharpe, picking up on what’s been going on after landfall. There’s also some really interesting revelations about Kahlee’s past.
| Published by AfterShock
Tumblr media
DCeased #5 is the big penultimate issue, giving us hope as two sanctuaries are established. And then... Tom Taylor, Trevor Hairsine, Stefano Gaudiano, Rain Beredo, and Saida Temofonte give us another chilling story here with some very heartbreaking moments.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Die #8 keeps the pressure on, Kieron Gillen, Stephanie Hans, and Clayton Cowles continuing to hammer at your emotions as they explore the party even further. This one gives us a bit of a deeper look into our Grief Knight, Matt, and it’s amazing that the bleakness is almost oppressive.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
Doctor Strange #20 is kind of a bizarre end to this series as it transitions over to Doctor Strange, Surgeon Supreme later this year. As he searches out ways to implement his newly recovered dexterity, Strange teams-up with Kanna for what feels like one last adventure with her, against the nefarious Cyb(not equal)rdSmPhp (seriously, those symbols may “look” like Cyberdemon, but that’s not what it means) and his master. Great art from Javier Pina and Brian Reber.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Doom Patrol: Weight of the Worlds #4 is another weird one as the team travels to Destiny Beach and Flex Mentallo runs into his old crew. Gerard Way, Jeremy Lambert, Nick Pitarra, Tamra Bonvillain, and Simon Bowland give us an interesting tale of magical muscle mystery here as they try to bring magic back to the beach.
| Published by DC Comics / Young Animal
Tumblr media
Dungeons & Dragons: A Darkened Wish #3 gets to the heart of what caused Rayonde to turn in the future and shows what changed between the party. It gets pretty dark as the “darkened wish” plays out. Gorgeous artwork from Tess Fowler and Jay Fotos.
| Published by IDW
Tumblr media
Everything #2 keeps building the mystery of this story, layering on even more strange events and deaths that keep you guessing. Christopher Cantwell, INJ Culbard, and Steve Wands are crafting a weird horror story here that’s rather unique. There are elements here that feel like Twin Peaks and Fargo, mixed with Vertigo, Love & Rockets, Stray Bullets, and the works of Daniel Clowes and Charles Burns, but at the same time something wholly its own.
| Published by Dark Horse / Berger Books
Tumblr media
Fantastic Four #15 introduces us to Unparalleled, the heroes of the planet Spyre, in this second part of “Point of Origin”. Dan Slott, Paco Medina, Bob Quinn, Jesus Aburtov, and Joe Caramagna give us an interesting take on the Fantastic Four here as invading alien monsters, complete with monster dialogue, and it’s neat to see them from a different perspective.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Forgotten Home #1 is a new digital Comixology Original from Erica Schultz, Marika Cresta, Matt Emmons, and Cardinal Rae. It’s a very nice mix of magic and police procedural, hinging on a vast missing persons case, and family drama.
| Published by Vices Press
Tumblr media
Ghost Rider #1 is a spot on return for Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch, picking up on the recent rumblings throughout the Marvel Universe (though exactly how it fits in with Robbie Reyes and Avengers is yet to be seen), and veering off into wildly interesting new directions. Ed Brisson, Aaron Kuder, Jason Keith, and Joe Caramagna deliver a first issue that should have old school (and oldish new school, I mean Ketch is a 30 year old character now) fans delighted. Even as Danny’s life is a bit of a mess right now.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
The Green Lantern #12 is the fairly impressive “season finale” to this series from Grant Morrison, Liam Sharp, Steve Oliff, and Tom Orzechowski before we get a three-month break with Blackstars and then the start of season 2 next year. Some very big revelations here as we find out what all of the disparate parts of this story have been amounting to. It’s interesting as to how epic all of this feels.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Grendel: Devil’s Odyssey #1 puts a big goofy grin on my face. Aside from blips here and there and the Grendel vs. The Shadow mini-series featuring the original Grendel, Hunter Rose, it’s been almost two decades since we saw the ongoing adventures set in this universe, even longer a story written and illustrated by Matt Wagner (the last one part of canon, Past Prime, was a novel written by Greg Rucka with spot illustrations by Wagner). Like the recent third chapter to Mage, this is a very welcome return. Matt Wagner, Brennan Wagner, and Dave Lanphear take us in an entirely new direction as Grendel Prime is tasked to find humanity a new home.

Immortal Hulk #24 closes out the confrontation with Fortean and looks like it’s setting up the next phase for this series (in a two-fold way, both in the immediate future and in the far-flung end of the universe). Al Ewing, Joe Bennett, Ruy José, Belardino Brabo, Marc Deering, Roberto Poggi, Paul Mounts, and Cory Petit continue to work wonders on this series. This issue is horrifying. And perfect.

Joe Golem: Occult Detective - The Conjurors #5 concludes this chapter from Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden, Peter Bergting, Michelle Madsen, and Clem Robins. There’s some very nice Lovecraftian fun here and an ending that sets to fully cap off the upheaval of this series’ status quo.

Justice League #33 escalates the “Justice/Doom War” from Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, Bruno Redondo, Daniel Sampere, Juan Albarran, Hi-Fi, and Tom Napolitano. The various factions of the League are still fighting across time as Perpetua’s lock on power is looking even more certain. The tension throughout this story is incredible.

Legion of Super-Heroes: Millennium #2 concludes this trek through DC’s future history, stopping in to check on Booster Gold and OMAC, before getting to the main event with the Legion of Super-Heroes themselves. I really hope that the futures seeded here are followed up on. Gorgeous artwork throughout from Nicola Scott, Jim Cheung, rare interior art from Jeff Dekal, leading to Ryan Sook’s Legion.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Lois Lane #4 continues to move at a fairly slow pace, but it’s allowing for some great character moments like Jon discussing going off to join the Legion and Vic and Renee trying to piece together continuity that doesn’t exist any more. The art from Mike Perkins and Paul Mounts is still worth picking up this series for alone.
| Published by DC Comics

Mountainhead #2 turns things up a notch as everything just gets stranger and a bit more extreme. That odd, not-quite-right atmosphere is perfectly captured by the artwork from Ryan Lee and Doug Garbark.
| Published by IDW

The Necromancer’s Map #2 concludes the bit with the Void Sickness, with some fairly interesting reveals, and throws in some tragic romance while it’s at it. I really quite like how this is pacing along, weaving through details and side bits, while developing Bethany’s larger quest. Beautiful art from Sam Beck and Ellie Wright.
| Published by Vault
Tumblr media
No One Left to Fight #4 is stunning. Fico Ossio is delivering the most beautiful art in his career. I mean, just look at it. It’s freaking gorgeous. It also helps that the story from him, Aubrey Sitterson, and Taylor Esposito continues to be incredibly captivating. As we get more old friends and the set up of an old villain’s return.

Promethee 13:13 #2 continues this excellent prequel series from Andy Diggle, Shawn Martinbrough, Dave Stewart, and Simon Bowland. The implementation of the conspiracy aspect of the invasion is wonderful to see as the seeds of what’s to come are brought to bear. Gorgeous artwork from Martinbrough and Stewart.

Tumblr media
Red Sonja #9 sees Sonja seek out other allies in her quest to defeat Dragan in the form of some rather nasty sorcerers. Mark Russell, Bob Q, Dearbhla Kelly, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou deliver another entertaining chapter here, full of magic and more deceit, that certainly makes things a little bleaker.

Ruby Falls #1 is a wonderful debut from Ann Nocenti, Flavia Biondi, Lee Loughridge, and Sal Cipriano. This first issue introduces us to Lana, her rather unique dysfunctional family, and the backdrop of the tiny former mining town of Ruby Falls. There’s a mix of fallible memories and a criminal past for the town wanting to be forgotten that is very compelling.

Savage Avengers #6 continues Conan’s trek as he and Frank Castle travel across the Savage Land and through ordinary Antarctica, as they try to bring Frank’s family back to America. Gerry Duggan, Kim Jacinto, Tamra Bonvillain, and Travis Lanham deliver a fairly interesting story here, transitional, but still an interesting look at the similarities between Conan and Frank.

Tumblr media
Sea of Stars #4 gives us hints of possibly what happened to Kadyn in order to make him the way that he is, while his father fights for his life on another hostile alien planet. I really quite like how Jason Aaron, Dennis Hallum, Stephen Green, Rico Renzi, and Jared K. Fletcher have been progressing this story, building up the characters, and letting explanations out slowly in what feels like a natural progression.

Seven Days #1 kicks off this event series from Gail Simone, José Luís, Jonas Trinidade, Michelle Madsen, and Saida Temofonte in grand fashion, developing a new threat to the world behind the “event” that kicked off everyone’s powers and transformation. We get a nice team-up of luminaries Noble, Summit, and Accell before everything goes to hell.

Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader’s Castle #1 is a welcome return of this Halloween anthology series featuring chillers, thrillers, and horrors around the Star Wars Universe. There’s a framing story illustrated by Francesco Francavilla that sets up the theme and reintroduces a character from the first volume, and a central tale illustrated by Megan Levens and Charlie Kirchoff dealing with post Phantom Menace Maul. Both written and letter by Cavan Scott and AndWorld Design respectively. I quite like this format and these stories are highly entertaining.

Strange Skies over East Berlin #1 is a riveting beginning from Jeff Loveness, Lisandro Estherren, Patricio Delpeche, and Steve Wands. It starts off behind the Iron Curtain in the heart of Cold War era Germany, with all of the tension and distrust of Russian-controlled East Germany, and it’s ratcheted up higher as a strange light appears as something crashes behind the Wall. The atmosphere is made even more surreal by the almost impressionistic art from Estherren and Delpeche. A great start to this series.

Young Justice #9 continues the team’s confrontation with their evil Earth-3 counterparts, but also gives us a look at Teen Lantern’s origins. André Lima Araújo’s line art during these sequences is worth it alone, but overall I like how Brian Michael Bendis incorporates this into the overall narrative structure.
