Nikola Tesla has many revolutionary inventions to his credit, but he is best known for his pioneering work in the development and promotion of alternating current (AC) electrical systems. Tesla's innovations in AC technology revolutionized the generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical power, becoming the foundation for the modern electrical power systems that we use today.
There is a common misconception made that Tesla was the first to invent, or discover, AC, but this is not true. It is well-known that Hippolyte Pixii was the first to discover AC in 1832. Pixii was an instrument maker from Paris who built an early form of an alternating current electrical generator (based on the principle of electromagnetic induction discovered by Michael Faraday), and thus started a new industry in power transmission. Tesla was not the first to discover or invent an AC motor, but he was the first to invent a practical AC induction motor with commercial value that could outperform all other motors. It must be noted that Italian inventor Galileo Ferraris also invented an induction motor similar to Tesla's, but it had no commercial value, and he even admitted himself that it was useless. Tesla's induction motor operates on the principle of electromagnetic induction, properly utilizing a rotating magnetic field that induces a current in a stationary conductor, resulting in rotational motion. The utilization of the rotating magnetic field makes the motor more simple, robust, versatile, efficient, and cost effective in that it has less moving parts reducing the likelihood of mechanical failure (as was common in other motors).

The induction motor, pictured above, was invented by Nikola Tesla in 1888, with financial backing from George Westinghouse. Essentially, these motors enabled the use of alternating current for establishing what we now call the electrical grid, and the large-scale use of electricity generally.
Westinghouse, having invested most of the money, and having just enough scientific understanding to suspect (correctly) that alternating current, not direct current (as Edison wrongly imagined), would be more practical (and lucrative) for lighting up cities. received most of the profit, while the genius of Nikola Tesla, as with his contributions to radio technology, was largely forgotten in his own time.
As for Tesla's bitter rival Edison, his public humiliation for attempting to discredit alternating current was a rare public comeuppance for Edison who, in stark contrast to Tesla, generally received more than his fair share of the press and public credit.

I had to make this post or I'd explode. Death Korps of Krieg and Vostroyan Firstborn are really similar, yet they show how your experiences shape you as a person.

Lets start with the Krieg boys and girls. They are a uniquely dour bunch that are willing to give their lives just to buy some time for their allies or to gain mere meters of ground in prolonged conflict. Contrary to what popular memes will make you believe they are not suicidal (hell during the Vraks conflict there is one recored instance of krieg soldiers executing their commissar because he ordered a suicide charge on enemy positions), they and their generals just see themselves as assets to be spent atoning for sins of their past. In one of the best books from 40k verse i've ever read "Dead men walking" it's portrayed briantly. Local populations inducted into DKoK regiments are stripped of their personalities and made to forget their names, their past lives and faces of their brothers and sisters to turn them into perfect meat shields ready to kill and die for smallest of advantages. Honestly, that book was brutal and it showed how dehumanising the training regime Kriegans go through really is, and to think that they are shipped off to active war zones at the age of (at most) 16 is really horrifying.

Now, about Vostroya: they too are spending their lives atoning for the sins of their forefathers; they too are a siege regiment focused on CQB and positional warfare; and they too have cool gas masks. Yet, despite all of those similarities, they could not be more different. While DKoK needs commissars just to talk with other members of the Empire because they are so devoid of common humanity, others simply feel uneasy around them. Vostroyans are one big family, ready to kill and die for each other. They are the firstborn sons and daughters of their world, being welcomed into the regiment by their aunts and uncles, who are taking care of them and keeping an eye on them on the battlefields of the dangerous galaxy of the 40k's universe. Their distant brothers and sisters prepare mastercrafted equipment, knowing fully well that the lasguns they create will be used by their kin. They are fanatical to the point of madness and their effectiveness is on par of that of the Dead Korps of krieg yet their attrition rate is much, much lower, and I think that it's not only owed to differences in equipment but also to the fact that they are loyal not only to the empire but also to each other. After all, blood is thicker than water.

Now a word about irl inspirations for both regiments: contrary to popular belief DKoK are based off FRENCH soldiers of WW1, not Germans and no, they do not use shovels more than any other regiments. A mace is a much better weapon in trench warfare because shovels have a nasty tendency to getting stuck in things that go squish. Vostroyans are a blend of cossacks, russian streltsi, Polish nobility, and professional soldiers of XVIIth century, as well as a healthy dose of Nikola Tesla-inspired dieselpunk. It's criminal how underrepresented slavs are in popular sci-fi IP's btw.

The Firmament is likely Earth's Magnetic Field, which is not created by Earth's core, but is actually caused by Cosmic Magnetic Induction from the Sun through ferromagnetic elements inside the Earth that set up the conditions for said induction in the first place.
The visible Plasma / Electro-Static Energy of inertia and acceleration near the vortices of Toroidal Magnetic Reciprocation towards the poles of our planet known as AURORAS, sure would look like flowing waters separating Heaven and Earth to our ancestors thousands of years ago, as it still resembles today.
Which begs the ultimate question :
CAN WE LEAVE THE FIRMAMENT?
Well, if this experiment would shine quite the Light on that answer by working the opposite direction.
Since our Pineal Gland and the cells in our Wi-Fi enabled meatsuits are wirelessly plugged into Earth's Electro-Static /Magnetic Field, what happens if we LEAVE the Resonant cavity of the Field filled with Electro-Static Energy our body is dependent upon to not only function, but attain consciousness?
Similar to a Light bulb moving too far away from a Tesla Tower, would it be LIGHTS OUT for consciousness?
Through this logic, brings another legitimate questionable observation :
Either we physically / consciously couldn't have went to the moon, or Earth's Magnetic Field extends much further than they're telling us.

In the early days of radio technology, there was a crucial decision point that split wireless technology into two distinct paths. One path, pursued by Marconi and others, focused on electromagnetic wave transmission. The other path, championed by Nikola Tesla, aimed to minimize electromagnetic waves and use the Earth itself for energy transmission. While the world predominantly embraced the former, Tesla’s innovative approach was largely forgotten. Let’s explore Tesla’s lost art.
Tesla's wireless power transmission system, often known as his "Magnifying Transmitter," was a pioneering approach to sending electrical energy over long distances. Unlike today’s wireless technologies, which rely on electromagnetic waves, Tesla's design aimed to transmit energy through the earth, which he believed was more efficient.

Tesla showcased his system’s potential during his 1899 experiments in Colorado Springs. He successfully transmitted energy through the ground, illuminating bulbs about a mile away from the transmitter. Tesla saw this as a matter of engineering: just as a machine that can throw a rock 5 feet can be engineered to throw it 1,000 feet, he believed his system could be adjusted to transmit power across any distance on Earth.
Modern wireless technologies, such as radio, Wi-Fi, and cellular networks, use electromagnetic waves that spread outward from a source. These waves lose strength according to the inverse square law, which means signal strength decreases with the square of the distance from the source. This energy loss is a significant limitation for long-distance communication and power transmission.
Tesla’s vision was quite different. He recognized that while electromagnetic waves were effective for communication, they were inefficient for transmitting large amounts of power. As he put it, “I only used low alternations, and I produced 90 percent in current energy and only 10 percent in electromagnetic waves, which are wasted.” Tesla aimed to minimize electromagnetic radiation, which he considered to be energy-draining. Instead, he focused on transmitting energy through the earth, which he believed was more efficient and recoverable.

Tesla's system utilized a large coil known as the "Magnifying Transmitter," which generated a high-voltage, low-frequency current. This design featured significant self-inductance and minimal capacitance, producing a strong resonant effect. By accumulating and directing massive amounts of energy with minimal losses, Tesla aimed for efficient power transmission. As he explained, “I accumulate in that circuit a tremendous energy... I prefer to reduce those waves in quantity and pass a current into the earth, because electromagnetic wave energy is not recoverable while the earth current is entirely recoverable, being the energy stored in an elastic system.”
The scientific principles of Tesla's system include:
1. Resonant Circuits: Tesla's system used resonant circuits, tuning the primary and secondary coils to the same frequency. This resonance allowed for efficient energy transfer between coils, amplifying energy while minimizing losses.
2. Self-Inductance: A key component of Tesla’s system was self-inductance. A large coil with high self-inductance generated a strong magnetic field essential for creating high-voltage, low-frequency current. Self-inductance helped store energy in the coil’s magnetic field, critical for high power levels.
3. Capacitance: Tesla’s design involved large capacitors to store electrical energy. Capacitance was kept small compared to self-inductance to achieve desired resonant effects. The capacitors would discharge rapidly, creating high-voltage pulses for transmission through the earth.
To construct a system similar to Tesla’s, he advised:
1. Low Frequency, High Voltage Design: Build a large Tesla coil to generate high voltages at low frequencies. Ensure the design minimizes electromagnetic radiation and focuses on efficient energy transfer into the ground.
2. Loose Coupling for Resonance: Use loose coupling between the primary and secondary coils to achieve significant resonant rise. The coils should be inductively linked but not too close to avoid direct energy transfer.
3. Earth Connection: Establish a deep, effective ground connection to allow the transmitter to send electrical currents into the earth, utilizing its natural conductive properties.
4. Minimizing Radiation: Design the system to suppress electromagnetic radiation, aiming to retain energy within the circuit and direct it into the ground. Tune the system to maximize energy storage and transfer.
5. Energy Storage and Discharge: Incorporate large capacitors for storing and rapidly discharging energy to create high-voltage, low-frequency oscillations.

So, it is well known trivia that Viktor is based off of Nikola Tesla - one of my favorite scientists, ever - and because of that, I got to thinking about what other Tesla-inspired inventions that Viktor may have brought to Piltover or Zaun.
Being a Zaunite, Viktor has wanted to make inventions that help both cities. For his main focus, I think that he has been secretly helping to improve the lives of those in the undercity, and after him being in the Academy, quality of life for the people of Zaun went up.
However, because many of his inventions or improvements mainly assisted the undercity, Viktor was shunned... until he invented the V Coils, and showed the City of Progress their capacity for music.

When bored one day, as the Dean's assistant, Viktor decided to come up with other ideas for his idea of Alternating Current. He found that these specialized coils could function as power or light sources. Viktor dreams of a wireless world, and his V Coils were an attempt to revolutionize Piltover and Zaun.
The City of Progress, however, was more interested in V Coil's capacity for music. Viktor discovered in on accident, and managed to connect a type writer to the coil through wires, and created music.
V Coil shows are exceptionally popular in Piltover and Zaun. Each V Coil show has an automaton band that drums with the V Coils as they fire off.

ALTERNATING CURRENT

Professor Stanwick had a theory of Direct Current, and while a good idea, it cost the City of Progress too much to implement, so they sought ideas from their students at the Academy. Viktor took one look at Stanwick's designs, and came up with his own theory: a current that changes directions, and with voltage that changes back and forth. He tested it, and upon successful completion of the project, he was inducted into House Heimerdinger. He completed this project at the age of 17. This led to better power output for both Piltover and Zaun. While an important discovery, it wasn't renowned as anything like HexTech would be in the future - because Professor Stanwick came up with the idea of Direct Current, and Viktor was a student, he was able to take credit for Viktor's work.

HYDROELECTRIC GENERATOR

In an effort to cut down on pollution, Viktor created a hydroelectric generator that focused on his idea of Alternating Current. Before this, a great deal of resources were wasted to feed the vast electrical arrays that weaved in and out of the undercity. The generator also had a hidden feature: a filter to attempt to slowly clean Zaun's waters. He was secretly brought before the Council and reprimanded for adding the filter, which only further made him rebellious against Piltover.

Viktor later used this technology that he invented to power his automaton army and control them. This tech was originally created to have machines be piloted into hazard areas, so no life would be lost. Upon having a conversation with his patron, Heimerdinger, he conceived of this idea. However, due to the fact that it mainly benefitted Zaun, Viktor was once again shunned in the Piltover scientific community.

THE DIVING HELM

A helmet that removed a diver's fear response, and thus saved many lives from those who were apt to panic when resurfacing. This invention would cause strain between Jayce and Viktor.

Once again combining science with the Arcane, Viktor is able to create a gravity field that traps his foe. They can't move for a short duration.
MAGNETIC SHIELDING/SIPHON
Using his theory of the induction motor and the Arcane, Viktor siphons the electrical charge from the individual, and shields himself.
ION STORMS
Viktor is capable of creating powerful electrical storms with his staff, which has a V Coil at the end of it. He is able to place these storms at will due to his command of the Arcane.

Might as well share the whole Metal Sonic specs that I definitely didn't steal from Eggman on this friday night.
Also I'll put some things into our perspective.
Source: Sonic CD MCD JP manual
Height: 100 cm (3' 3")
Weight: 125.2 kg (275.4 lb.)
Main CPU: LIPS AI Eggman Custom Chip. Located in the head, this processor contains three output links. The internal CPU contains a system capable of executing mathematically logical enactment and a simultaneous analog neuro-connection between all components.
(So, it is the one doing all the calculations, allowing Metal extremely quick reactions. It's definitely the most important part.)
Sub CPU: Neo Super DFX Chip, containing a five-link system connecting to all major body components. Governs the power control system. A Next Risk Chip Series III, with eight basic loading ports in each eye unit, utilizes RGB imaging in the optical area.
(Usually servers have multiple CPUs, so Metal has a lot of processing power. The second CPU is used for head, arms and legs movement. The third CPU is processing images for Metal to see the world.)
Frame: Monocoque titanium
(Titanium is used, for example, in jet engines or missiles. It has a high strength-to-weight ratio and has low density. It's really good against corrosion. With 125.2 kg, there would only be 27.57 cm³ of titanium.)
Color coating: Reinforced blue metal tektite
(Tektite paint. Tektite is a glassy object that forms from debris during a meteorite impact.)
Main engine: 250cc, 4‐valve Orgone Fusion Engine
(Fusion engines don't exist, they're supposed to be really efficient. 250cc is a dirt bike engine, around 17hp. Metal Sonic's 54hp, so it's definitely better whilst being really small.)
Max power: 55ps/6800rpm, around 54hp
(A 2004 Fiat Panda engine has the same power as Metal Sonic, although more torque than him.)
Max torque: 7.54Kg-m/4000rpm, around 74N.m
(Our 250cc engine could only have 21N.m, Metals is much better.)
Secondary engine: Tesla Power Coil which produces electricity through electromagnetic induction
(Idk how that would work and how is it shoved into him.)
Max power: 256 kW
(My guess that it's the second power source and his way to able to make electric attacks.)
