What is RRR?? (Please, it looks so good)
Oh my god YES, YEEEESSSSSS, I am so ready to answer this, thank you anon, I feel like I’ve been CHOSEN!!!!!!! Let me tell you about the best movie ever!!!!!!!!!!! it IS so good!
RRR (which stands for Roudram Ranam Rudhiram or Rise Roar Revolt) is an Indian Telugu-language film that came out in 2022 and became India’s third highest grossing film ever because it is THAT amazing.
This movie has EVERYTHING YOU COULD EVER WANT. Unbelievable, over-the-top action! British colonizers getting what they deserve! Stunning cinematography, sets and costumes! A soundtrack so incredible you’ll never be able to stop listening to it! Tigers! (They’re CGI, no animals were harmed in the making of the film.)
And, most importantly, it has one of the most compelling and beautiful onscreen romances relationships between two men that I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!! This movie is SO gay I can’t even begin to tell you. Like not officially gay, but GAY. I love it so much. Listen. LISTEN TO ME. The entire cast is great, but in particular the two leads are AMAZING and their chemistry is INSANE. They are magic together.
RRR is set in the 1920s and it’s about two revolutionaries named Komaram Bheem (played by Jr. NTR) and Alluri Sitarama Raju (played by Ram Charan) who never met in real life, but the movie says, what if they did? It explores themes of friendship, betrayal, colonization, racism, revolution, religion, trauma, and… what if two men fell in love while fighting the British? AND FALL IN LOVE THEY DO
I don’t want to spoil anything but like. WATCH IT. It’s three hours long and worth EVERY SECOND. You might wonder, in a three hour movie, are there parts that feel slow? NO. This movie is incapable of dragging, and so much is packed into three hours it’s actually kind of crazy. The story is so good the themes are so good the acting is so good IT MAKES ME FERAL!!! DID I MENTION THE SOUNDTRACK???
I CRY AND SCREAM ABOUT RRR EVERY DAY. This movie is unhinged, and it made me unhinged, and hopefully you will watch it and become unhinged as well <3 thank you and goodnight!
#rrr#you can watch it on Netflix although I think that is the Hindi version#The Telugu version subtitled in English is available online#anon I am holding your face gently in my hands#watching this movie is the best choice you can make#I’ve never seen anything else like it#my RRR posts#rambheem

Attention: just because Netflix only has the Hindi dubs of some South Indian Films, that doesn’t make it Bollywood!!! If it was made in south India, it’s a South Indian film and should be referred to by the name used for films from its respective location/language, ex tollywood, sandalwood, etc.
#Also I highly recommend watching these movies in their original language if you can find them with subtitles in your language.#or a language you speak#I’ve seen both the OG Telugu version of Baahubali 2 and the Hindi dub and the Hindi version takes hella liberties with the dialogue#mind you I’m judging by the subtitles but yeah the Hindi version was definitely different#even if you don’t speak the languages and are relying on subs w#either way#I’d recommend the OG#baahubali is tollywood not Bollywood#Netflix only having the Hindi dub doesn’t make it Bollywood

Yo Goldenheart and Nimona nation, do i ever have good news for you!
Do you like homoerotic betrayals?
Do you like lovers best friends being torn apart upon finding themselves on the opposite sides of a war? Where each is burdened with the responsibilities from their chosen role?
Do you like couples where one half represents the oppressive regime and the other half embodies EVERYTHING the said oppressive regime hates? Where the one half, acting as a tool of violence and subjugation for the oppressive regime, has to HUNT DOWN and ARREST the other half who has sworn to attack the oppressive regime head on?
Do you like couples with opposing colour schemes? Where one half embodies a particular element and the other half embodies a contrasting element? Do you like couples who are each other's foils? DO YOU LIKE COUPLES WHO ARE THEMATIC PARALLELS TO EACH OTHER??
Do you like a story that's rich in symbolism? Rife with metaphors? A movie that you can rewatch again and again and STILL discover new stuff to lose your mind over?
Do you like a story where love shines brighter than the sun? Where love conquers all the hurt, anger, grief, heartbreak, generational trauma and violence? Where love heals? Where the sheer power of love changes the entire course of the narrative? Where love rewrites history itself?
Do you like movies that make you feel THE ENTIRE SPECTRUM of human emotions within its runtime?
Do you like gorgeous, jaw dropping cinematography? Do you like highly stylized action sequences?
Do you like banger music and a soundtrack that slaps HARD? Do you like a wonderful song and dance interlude in a movie as it shifts into the next act?
Do you like a character who is just the sweetest and the best and deserves everything that is good in the world and has BIG BROWN MASSIVE ADORABLE DOE EYES? And then proceeds to go through the literal WORST TIME ever?
Of course, you do! You like Nimona!
And ho boy, are you gonna LOVE RRR. Because this movie has got ALL of that and then some more. It's an epic, it's a war movie, it's a love story, it's highly symbolical, it's going to take your heart and rip it into two. And you will thank it for that.
Hmm, Enigma. But where can I watch it? 🤔
It's available on Netflix but only as the dubbed Hindi version. It's pretty good for a dub as the actors dubbed their characters themselves and the director oversaw the translation but! But! Listen! There is a magic in the original Telugu version and if you want to experience it, then thank @charcubed for this post where you can download the original Telugu version in crisp HD with English subtitles FOR FREE
There is a third option. You can stream it for free in Einthusan here. However, the quality of the Einthusan stream is not good, and if there is one movie that DESERVES to be watched in crisp HD quality? Trust me, it's RRR
So, what are you waiting for? Go watch it, RIGHT NOW. Seriously

One thing I really like about some Indian movies is that I do not need subtitles to understand them. I grew up watching many types of movies but almost every time, I specifically need them to be in English subtitles to understand the plot, I think you could understand the struggle (I'm Indian but I don't speak Hindi or Telugu or any other besides my mother language and English). But when it comes to those ✨Indian movies✨, I can see how their eyes talk so even with the language barrier, I could feel what they're trying to tell me. Suddenly, I no longer need them to put the words in front of my face to understand what they're saying, the eyes and expressions are more than enough.
I mean, tell me if this photo needs a subtitles

Congratulations, NETFLIX Brazil.
You finally released Devara, but you sabotaged the screening in the same way Disney did with BRAHMASTRA.
The film is available in 5 languages, but the only subtitles available on the channel are in English.
Damn this mania of thinking that all Brazilians are fluent in English, we are not even capable of speaking our own language correctly, let alone English!
So either I watch Devara dubbed (which I will not do) or I do not watch it (which unfortunately I will do).
All that is left for me is to look for sites that make Devara available for download with subtitles in Portuguese, just like I did with RRR.
And I hope I have more luck with Devara than I had with RRR.
I have never been able to find RRR with the audio in Telugu, only in Hindi.
I do not know NAATU, I only know DESI NAACH!
Then they complain that Brazilians only live off piracy.
The reason for this is quite simple.
You don't respect us as viewers, so why would we respect you as a company?

What I’m looking most forward to in Game changer
So I’m a fan on Ram Charan have been even before RRR Maghadheera was one of my favorite movies as a kid and not just because of Kajal’s beautiful wardrobe in that movie *cries in can’t wear pretty dresses because of social anxiety*
But we’re not going to be talking about Maghadheera today we are going to be talking about Ram Chatman’s new movie “Game Changer”
Granted I have not seen it because I don’t usually go to the movies and it has released on an Ott platform my family uses but since it’s not in the best quality I’m gonna wait for a bit before watching it and I have exams too so I have to finish that before relaxing.
But Game Changer is a movie I was initially very excited for when it was announced before the trailers and teasers and everything.
It was because it was Ram Charan’s first appearance in a movie after RRR and because the look and style of it , it reminded me of his old movies and gave me the vibe he was going to go the safe route after RRR and give like one of those classic movies but maybe with a more intriguing storyline.
Now after watching the trailer and teaser I still do believe that to some point but after hearing a person on my fyp talk about how the formula this movie used was too much like those old 2015-2018 Telugu movies I’m a bit skeptical but I think I still might enjoy it somewhat.
When I first watched the trailer though I was really excited because I could for the life of me not know what was going on there was a suspense that made me want to watch the movie more. And I couldn’t tell if there was gonna be two or three versions of Ram Charan in the movies because of how different he looks in different parts of the trailer. I’m assuming it’s two but I guess I have to see.
I’m not gonna be comparing my opinions on my first look of Game Changer to Devara at all because they’re clearly very different types of movies Devara is a movie that gives off a lot of dark vibes while Game changer does have conflict but has a more bright color scheme.
Also I do feel like Devara had a good premise the execution and storyline in the end was just . . . meh.
Don’t really know what to expect in the sequel if Devara himself isn’t alive in my opinion it makes it way less interesting and the romance was not there at all.
Back to Game changer
As the title suggest I am going to be describing what I’m looking forward to in this movie.
First of all I’m interested in what the plot would be I know there’s a politician vs police officer plot in there because one of Ram Charan’s characters stated he was an IAS Officer till he dies and after reading the subtitles (don’t bully me I’m not fluent in Telugu) the villain so revealed to be the prime minister of Andhra Pradesh and honestly that itself isn’t really interesting I’ve seen the plot where the corrupt politician steals money from the people a bunch of times I’m just wondering what they’re gonna do with it because I remember S.J Suryah the actor who plays the villain in the movies was also in Saripodha Sanivaram and I really loved his performance in that because of his backstory and dis likable character so I hope “Game Changer” properly utilize him in this movie as well.
Also I’m curious about how the Rangasthalam version of Ram Charan will play a role in the whole IAS officer thing, by Rangasthalam Ram Charan I mean the version of Ram Charan in this film who lives in the countryside or village area with his family a wife and kid since there’s like four versions of him in this film (they decided to really milk him out). Im assuming he’s going to meet the IAS version of himself to talk about the injustices his village is facing and from a scene I accidentally watched while my parents were watching the movie (*Spoiler alert kinda*) Rangasthalam Ram set up his own political party to benefit his village I think but that was like hinted in the trailer as well.
I know the IAS Ram Plotline will be the main plotline because of how many scenes we have of him compared to Rangasthalam Ram but honestly I’m looking forward to scenes with Rangasthalam Ram way more.
Rangasthalam Ram in this movies seems so honest and hardworking and sweet and IAS Ram is also honest and hardworking but there’s something relatable or endearing about Rangasthalam Ram he seems like he isn’t a natural leader and struggles to help his village in family to get through their tough environment but pushes through because he deeply cares for them. And that’s true bravery fighting to protect the people that you love even if it isn’t with fists but other actions this is what Mass hero movies gloss over and since “Game Changer” seems like a Mass movie I’m very glad that this type of character is included in this film and as a main character too even if he isn’t the ‘main’ ‘main’ character.
Oh-OH!
edit: So I just watched the song Arugu Meedha from Game Changer. Initially when watching the trailer I thought Rangasthalam Ram’s relationship with his wife seemed way cute than IAS Ram and the conventionally attractive heroine Kiara Advani who seems to be used to fill in the box-
oh well we got a fair skinned heroine let’s check that out and give her no role whatsoever and possibly make her relationship with the Hero incredibly one sided when it comes to affection and probability of working in an actual relationship.
She was also in Vinaya Vidhaya Rama and they did the exact same thing Unlike Devara though where the most screen time we got from Janhvi Kapoor was in the songs I think “Game Changer” will try to decently build up IAS Ram and Kiara’s character’s love story but it probably won’t be anything new or exciting.
Okay so back to my “OH!” I watched Arugu Meedha and in the trailer I thought Rangasthalam Ram’s relationship with his wife is something I’d like better even if I saw like maybe one scene of them together where his wife played by Anjali rested her head on his back as he rode their bike with them and their child which I found very domestic and cute especially since we don’t get a lot of Telugu mass movies where the characters are already married and have this domestic bliss
ARUGU MEEDHA IS SOMETHING ELSE!!!
THIS IS A SONG DEDICATED JUST TO THEM, and sure it isn’t an item song but I don’t freakin care!!! This is cute!
The way Anjali’s character looks at Rangasthalam Ram when he comes home looking upset?!?!?
It gives off why her very attentive husband brushes past her not out of anger against her but the way he’s so preoccupied with such a troubling matter coming into their once simple life.
AND BY ATTENTIVE I MEAN ATTENTIVE He legit fans her feet when she looks like she’s sick without her asking too like- and he looks so worried it’s so adorable ughhhhh.
Looking like it’s the last time he’ll see her when she probably got the flu. (Cries in loneliness)
And the fact is he’s probably still in the beginning of his political career after he started his political party for the villagers but he’s still such a caring husband.
And it’s not just him! Anjali seeing him upset uplifts his chin and seems to try and ask him what’s wrong even if what we’re actually hearing is her singing the song. He then turns away because he doesn’t want to subject his wife with his troubles even if he knows she’ll try to help, Especially knowing she’ll try to help the best she can because she loves him so much
And then we see the bicycle scene again which is nice but I like it more in the trailer since we see her rest her head on her husband’s back and seeing a woman so in love with her husband brings tears to my eyes (because we do NOT get that in Telugu cinema often)
And then more Angst- Anjali ,for some unknown heartbreaking reason, is crying the tears are simply falling off and then Rangasthalam Ram upturns her chin (what in the hell is with all the beautiful eye contact!?!?!?) holds her head in the palms of his hands wiping her tears with the thumbs of his hand before holding her shoulders and gently bringing her closer to cry freely on his shoulder holding the back of her head carefully like a child
AND TO TOP IT OFF WE GET A RANGASTHALAM RAM VERSION OF THIS TOO
with Anjali rushing over to her husband’s side seeing something is wrong
She holds his head gently and asks what happened
AND THIS TIME HE ACTUALLY OPENS UP! because he feels safe around her and wants her comfort and views her as his equal to tell things too. A true soulmate
And then after realizing what happened and why he’s sound defeated and heartbroken with how he can’t bring himself to look at her (out of guilt maybe) she brings his head closer to her shoulder to rest on it so he had the feeling that he’s okay that he’s safe.
Right there in her arms there is nowhere he’d rather be.
it just shows how endearing and TWO SIDED their relationship is with both of them deeply caring for each other.
And this scene where Rangasthalam Ram is happily carrying his wife and son off in the sunset shows that he’s not a masculine mass hero he’s just a guy. A guy who loves his family, his wife and son to the moon and doesn’t want anything to happen to them because they’re his life.
Um so that was definitely not tear wrenching (I’m crying as I type). Now this again is just what I’m imagining is happening unfortunately their relationship probably will be watered down thrown under the bridge or etc. but I what happened in Raayan with Meghalai (Aparna Balamurali) and Muthuvelraayan (Sundeep Kishan) from a previous post I made is less likely to happen because Rangasthalam Ram is still a main character more or less and his story matters in “Game Changer”.
So Excluding my whole Im very lonely montage im also curious about the woman in this picture for the movie “Game changer”
Who is she? And why does she matter?
I actually didn’t realize there was a little bit in the photo at first but I’m hypothesizing this has something to do with one of the character’s childhood trauma specifically the IAS Officer or maybe the “Collector” ,I don’t know how many Ram Charans are in this movie.
And that’s because he’s yelling for his mother in an abandoned building in construction. Then again the villain the minister might’ve actually kidnapped his mother and family who knows.
The woman whose face is blurred is probably either a reference to the woman in this picture or her herself
Or wait- that might be Anjali! The necklace and dress design matches the blurred woman but maybe it’s her husband’s mother’s attire and she’s wearing it for some special day but something unexpected happens.
God the theories you can make with the smallest things the movie better be feeding these theories.
Anyway that’s all I have to say for today I might or may not make a post after I watch “Game Changer” since I still haven’t made another post about Raayan after watching the movie. It’s mostly because I didn’t have a lot of complaints except for uh, ruining my hopes and dreams about Meghalaai and Muthuvelraayan but yeah we’ll see if Game Changer ends up not being an utter failure and ‘Rajamouli’s curse’ running in production then maybe I’ll make another post dedicated to Rangasthalam Ram and his story or maybe about the absurdity of having like 4 Ram Charan characters in one movie.
Yours truly
Roselle 🪷

Hallo! Have you ever heard of a movie called RRR (or Rise Roar Revolt)? It’s a really great (pretty whumpy) movie that I think you will like if you haven’t already seen it. It’s originally filmed in the Telugu language but you can watch it in Hindi with subtitles on Netflix! It’s a really heartfelt and touching story. Trigger warnings for somewhat graphic violence, plots and themes of racism and colonialism, as well as child death and endangerment, hope none of that is a deal breaker for you, it’s really worth it if you can get past those. it’s a really beautiful and exciting film!
I have not heard of that film! Thanks for the rec! (and the warnings as well! Much appreciated)

Telugu, a beautiful and vibrant language spoken by millions, might seem daunting at first. But worry not! With the right approach, you can conquer those Telugu basics and have conversations in no time. Here's your roadmap to learning Telugu easily:
1. Start with Greetings:
Every language journey begins with greetings. Learn simple phrases like "Hello" (Namaste - నమస్తే) and "Thank you" (Dhanyavadalu - ధన్యవాదాలు). This friendliness goes a long way with native speakers!

Learning shouldn't feel like a chore. Play games and quizzes that test your Telugu skills. There are even apps that gamify the learning process, making it fun and engaging.
5. Find a Language Partner:
Practicing with a native speaker is a fantastic way to improve. Look for online language exchange platforms or connect with Telugu speakers in your community. Don't be afraid to make mistakes – that's how we learn!
6. Immerse Yourself in Telugu:
Listen to Telugu music, watch movies with subtitles, or even find Telugu podcasts. Surrounding yourself with the language helps you grasp pronunciation and common phrases naturally.

Re:the Priyam/Dosti thing! I did want to share a neat fact! For a good chunk of time in the 2000s early 10s the term 'Dostana' for which dosti is a kind of root word was connected to gay relationships because of the bollywood film dostana which explicitly discussed gayness as a high profile film. Even though it featured two straight characters pretending to be gay it did have a m/m kiss at the end and was the work of Karen joher whose gayness is kind of an open secret in the industry. So while it's unlikely that the translaters specifically were thinking about the association with dostana the film. There is actually a good chunk of subtext you can read into it based on the choice of the word dosti specifically. At least enough to do some textual analysis if nothing else lol. As always an absolute delight to see you enjoying Indian media!
OMG, that is SO interesting!!!
And well, so far it's mostly Ram Charan and Tarak movies (the only one without them I've seen is Baahubali 1 and 2 and I count them as one) but I am in love with the portrayal of the culture, even when I understand these movies are action flicks first and foremost.
I'm now even trying to learn some Hindu with duolingo and telugu with link so I can watch MORE movies without having to hunt subtitles!

There's a lot of Telugu movies on Youtube with English subtitles, but do you know any that have Telugu subtitles? I'd like to see the Telugu written out so I can map characters to speech better
I’ve struggled with the same thing myself! It would be so much easier to learn Telugu like this. Unfortunately, there’s no movies with Telugu subtitles I can find on YouTube. That said, Amazon Prime Video seems to have Telugu subtitles for some media, like for Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya.
That said, if you can’t or don’t want to use amazon services, you can always look at lyrical videos for Telugu songs on YouTube (of which there are plenty), or even look for Telugu movie screenplays, like this one of Jathi Ratnalu.
