i will burn with a light of my own - notes
Duncan’s prophecy is in three parts:
Moonlight shall be your shield and dawn shall be your sword - refers to Sansa appearing like Talyah/the Mother Rhoyne with the help of moonlight to Lady Zara Wyl, and then how she used the changing light of dawn to appear like Talyah/the Mother Rhoyne to Lord Wyl, Arianne, and the people in the courtyard.
From the eldest shall come the oldest - Jon is the eldest Stark child of the new generation, and he achieves the oldest skill of the Starks, wolfsinging.
The only answer for death can never be death - when Sansa asks the dragon to stop slavery and it offers to burn Meereen and all of Slaver’s Bay to the ground.
The tracts of wood for Castle Wyl’s surrounding walls are made of pine, primarily as a shout-out to my favorite estuary in SoCal, Torrey Pines.
Prince Lewyn really did have a paramour despite being a Kingsguard, which has been living rent-free in my brain since I read Arys’ chapter in AFFC. Not that Sansa knew this, of course, but there should totes be some random weedy looking folks popping out of nowhere to claim Martell blood is what I’m saying ;)
“Grief is a river which carries me along, but I am the river, too,” whispers Zara. “Hate is a tiger that devours me, but I am the tiger. Rage is a fire that consumes me, but I am the fire.” - This line is adapted from the Jorge Luis Borges essay, “A New Refutation of Time,” which goes “Time is the substance I am made of. Time is a river which sweeps me along, but I am the river; it is a tiger which destroys me, but I am the tiger; it is a fire which consumes me, but I am the fire.”
Druselka was Nymeria of Ny Sar’s companion, a priestess of the Mother Rhoyne who accompanied Nymeria on her journey from the Rhoyne when the Valyrians invaded. She claimed to have heard the Mother Rhoyne calling her children home and led her followers back to the Rhoyne, where the Valyrians enslaved them. In this story, her prophecy was a ruse designed by Nymeria to ensure those that followed her to Westeros would not be without a choice (to return home).
The names of the Wyl sisters (Talyah, Zara, and Mariah) are riffs on Hebrew names, though Mariah is notably also used as a Martell name.
The four Sand Snakes they meet in the desert are Obara, Nymeria, Tyene, and Elia.
Sulphurous rivers, as far as I can tell, do not exist on Earth, though there is a “Sulphur River” in Texas; sulfur water, on the other hand, does exist, and often results in a) a very strong smell and b) water on fire. So that’s why the Brimstone burns when dragonfire touches it.
Blue fire is usually considered the hottest color, but purple fire would match the eyes of the Targaryens, wouldn’t it?
Fire turns sand to glass if it’s hot enough. The hills of Meereen have copper in them, which is why they form “a crunchy, icy glass that gleams a blue even brighter than the sky.” Were the glass that formed near the Hellholt to be described, due to the sulphur contamination, it would have been a deep, amber color.
“I will live under it for the rest of the days of my life. And if I falter… then death shall be my reward, as it has been for all the rest of my kin.” - A riff on JRRT’s Silm line, “His valour was as a fire yet steadfast as the hills of stone; wise he was and skilled in voice and hand; troth and justice he loved and bore goodwill to all, both Elves and Men, hating Morgoth only; he sought not his own, neither power nor glory, and death was his reward.”
“You question where you can find a beach without waves,” says the old dragon, “but the truth at the heart of this world is that there are no eyes that cannot dream.” - Taken from the Telugu song “Nee Prashnalu Neeve,” from the movie Kotha Bangara Lokam.

tag 9 people you want to get to know better
tagged by @wizardofgoodfortune and @themirokai. many thank for the tag! :D
three ships: ah, oof. idk what to answer this based on, so I'll go with three ships that I've read a lot of in recent history: Zoscar (Zolf/Oscar from Rusty Quill Gaming), Marvin/Whizzer from Falsettos, and Dream/Hob from Sandman. (That also quite neatly sums up the different mediums I primarily follow now, heh.)
first ever ship: okay wow this took me back! Probably Dannyl/Tayend from the Kyralia series by Trudi Canavan. It was reading them during The Traitor Spy trilogy that helped my baby ace self first see the appeal of shipping. (man, I miss those books :') )
last song: probably Epic II from Hadestown. Was listening to that on repeat while baking earlier (I canNOT get enough of "the pickaxe flashes / the hammer falls" and the music during "king of mortar / king of bricks" <3)
last movie: 18 Pages, although tbh the movie was just an excuse to meet up with some lovely folks for the first time in yearssss :)
currently reading: mostly fanfic of late, but I'm also attempting to wrestle my attention span into letting me finish What Matters In Jane Austen by John Mullan. It is a delightful read digging into how Regency society functioned in order to better appreciate just how brilliant Austen's writing is, and I am LOVING it.
currently consuming: is this about food? media? idk, but I just finished dinner so my answer's going to be uppudu pindi with avakai. (I am. very telugu in some ways, yes.) (avakai is the most basic mango pickle and I have no idea how describe the former, so take my word for it when I say it is the superior low-effort comfort meal.)
currently craving: some direction in life would be nice, but I'll settle for some piping hot chocolate slab cookies. tried baking some earlier but they turned out brittle instead of chewy since my baking soda stabbed me in the back :(
zero pressure tags: @averythepirate, @shewantsitall, and @rosettarants! [and @permanentlyspacedout >:) ]
Not sure who else I can tag that I know doesn't mind getting tagged and hasn't done this already - so this is me @ing anyone else who feels like doing this!
#addendum to the currently craving answer: makhana [puffed lotus seeds] because a friend (you know who you are)#thank you for the tag! :D making this post got me diving into the kyralia wiki again and i'm having a great time reading all that again :)#placeholder tag

Regional Music Availability on JioSaavn vs Spotify: Which Has More?
India's diverse musical heritage and language variety make regional music an essential aspect of music streaming services. For many users, the choice of a streaming platform often hinges on its ability to offer a vast selection of regional songs, from Tamil and Telugu hits to Punjabi beats and Marathi folk music. JioSaavn and Spotify, two leading streaming platforms in India, recognize the importance of regional music in appealing to a broader audience, but they each bring different strengths to the table. This article dives into the "JioSaavn vs Spotify" debate, focusing specifically on which platform best caters to India’s regional music audience and helps listeners connect with local artists and songs.
1. Regional Music Catalog: JioSaavn’s Focus vs. Spotify’s Expansion
JioSaavn has established itself as a regional music powerhouse. As a homegrown streaming platform with deep roots in the Indian music industry, JioSaavn has formed partnerships with multiple regional labels and artists, creating an extensive library of songs in various Indian languages. Its catalog covers a range of languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, and Bhojpuri, catering to listeners across India.
Spotify entered the Indian market in 2019 and initially focused on international and Bollywood content. However, in recent years, Spotify has recognized the value of regional music in India and has made significant investments in expanding its catalog to include regional tracks. Today, it offers a diverse library with songs in languages such as Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu, though it still lacks some of the depth in regional music that JioSaavn provides.
2. Curation of Regional Playlists
Both platforms understand that playlists are powerful tools for music discovery, and they have developed various curated playlists to enhance the user experience. JioSaavn has an extensive selection of regional playlists, many of which are updated regularly to reflect the latest hits. It provides genre-based playlists within each language category, such as Tamil Love Songs, Punjabi Beats, Telugu Blockbusters, and Bengali Classics, ensuring that users can easily find music that suits their mood and preferences.
Spotify has also increased its focus on regional playlists in recent years, but it takes a different approach to curation. Spotify’s playlists like “Desi Hits,” “Top Hits Tamil,” and “Punjabi 101” combine both mainstream Bollywood hits and regional tracks, making it easy for listeners to discover songs in multiple languages without having to search by language alone. Additionally, Spotify’s personalized playlists, such as “Daily Mix” and “Discover Weekly,” often include regional tracks for users who show an interest in Indian music. While Spotify’s approach to regional music curation is broader, JioSaavn’s playlist structure is more targeted, catering directly to each language and genre within the Indian music scene.
3. Regional Language Integration and User Experience
JioSaavn’s focus on regional music extends beyond its catalog, as the app itself is designed with an Indian audience in mind. Its user interface (UI) highlights popular regional genres and languages on the home screen, allowing users to jump directly into their preferred regional language categories. This is especially helpful for older users or those new to digital music platforms who may find language-specific navigation essential.
Spotify, being an international app, has a more generalized approach in its interface. However, it has started to cater to Indian audiences by offering language options and regional playlists prominently on the app’s homepage. In recent updates, Spotify has also introduced a Hindi language interface, which allows users to navigate the app in Hindi. While Spotify’s interface may lack the cultural specificity found in JioSaavn, it is still accessible for users looking for regional music, especially if they are familiar with the app’s navigation.
4. Collaborations with Regional Artists and Exclusive Releases
JioSaavn’s position as an Indian platform gives it an advantage when collaborating with regional artists. Through partnerships with Indian labels and emerging talent, JioSaavn regularly features exclusive releases, new albums, and regional hits. Many up-and-coming Indian artists launch their music on JioSaavn first, and the platform often promotes these artists through exclusive playlists and recommendations. This gives users the opportunity to discover the latest regional hits before they are available on other platforms.
Spotify, though relatively new to India, has made strides in supporting regional artists. With initiatives like Spotify RADAR, which highlights emerging talent worldwide, and the creation of playlists such as “Radar India,” the platform is making efforts to promote Indian artists. However, Spotify’s emphasis is often on more mainstream and international-friendly regional tracks, which can sometimes limit its offerings compared to JioSaavn’s expansive catalog of local talent and exclusives.
5. User Perception and Regional Popularity
The popularity of JioSaavn and Spotify within the regional music space varies across India. For listeners who prioritize a more India-centric experience, JioSaavn is frequently the preferred choice, largely due to its strong association with Indian music and greater language-specific content. Many Indian users report that they find JioSaavn better suited to their music needs, particularly for language-dedicated playlists and artist recommendations.
Spotify has a reputation for its algorithm-driven recommendations and playlist curation, which some users find beneficial when exploring both regional and international music. While Spotify may not have the same level of regional integration as JioSaavn, its personalized playlists offer users a good mix of Bollywood, regional, and Western hits based on their listening history, which many listeners enjoy for its diverse appeal.
6. Comparing Offline Mode and Accessibility for Regional Music
For many listeners in India, offline mode is crucial to enjoy music without interruption in areas with poor connectivity. Both JioSaavn and Spotify offer offline downloads to premium users, allowing users to save songs, playlists, and albums for offline listening. In JioSaavn, offline access includes all regional music content, and users can download songs in high quality without limitations. This feature is especially useful for rural users or those with limited data access who prioritize regional music.
Spotify also provides offline access to its entire catalog, including regional songs. However, the quality of regional content might vary, as some regional tracks are not available in high-definition audio. Despite this, Spotify’s offline functionality is smooth and easy to use, making it a strong competitor in the offline accessibility space. For listeners specifically focused on regional music, JioSaavn’s broad catalog and data-efficient offline downloads make it a more convenient choice.
7. Algorithm-Driven Regional Music Recommendations
Spotify is known for its algorithm-driven recommendations, which include personalized playlists like “Discover Weekly” and “Daily Mix.” These playlists adapt to the user’s music preferences, so users who frequently listen to regional music will likely see a good mix of their preferred regional tracks alongside popular global hits. Spotify’s data-driven recommendations are a highlight for users who appreciate a mix of curated and algorithmically recommended songs.
JioSaavn also offers music recommendations, but its focus is more on curating playlists than relying solely on algorithms. While JioSaavn does suggest songs based on user history, it emphasizes regional playlists curated by experts, making it more suitable for users who prefer handpicked music over algorithm-driven playlists. This curated approach aligns with JioSaavn’s commitment to promoting Indian and regional music while meeting local tastes.
Conclusion In the “JioSaavn vs Spotify” debate around regional music, each platform offers unique advantages. JioSaavn’s regional music focus, language-specific playlists, and strong partnerships with local artists make it a prime choice for Indian listeners who want easy access to a wide array of regional music. Spotify, with its international influence and innovative algorithm-driven playlists, brings a different appeal, offering regional music along with a rich catalog of global songs. For users who prioritize regional music and cultural relevance, JioSaavn is an excellent choice, while Spotify remains a strong option for those who enjoy a mix of local and international hits. Ultimately, the best choice between JioSaavn and Spotify will depend on individual music preferences and how strongly users value regional language diversity in their streaming experience.

Reynabeth Headcanons :)
Some Reynabeth headcanons because they are my favourite non-canon queer ship :D
- Annabeth does Reyna’s hair often because they both find it very relaxing
- Both of them spend hours together in the praetor’s room while Reyna goes over stuff for the legion and Annabeth re-designs Olympus
- Annabeth can’t cook very well so Reyna does most of the cooking
- They spar a lot together for practice and they always somehow end up making out (no I love the trope where one person pins the other against a wall shut up this happens A LOT with them)
- They go on picnic dates a lot. Annabeth is sitting as she reads a book and Reyna is laying on her lap. Annabeth has one hand in Reyna’s hair or Reyna holds Annabeth’s hand to her chest so she can feel her heartbeat
- For some very fancy event that Annabeth gets invited to they wear formal clothing and Reyna wears a black suit with a deep purple tie to match Annabeth’s deep purple knee length dress. They both look hella fancy with their pretty hair and champagne glasses
- They go on TONS of double dates with Jercy- yes valgrace but I ship valdangelo so deal with it- where its just Reyna and Percy fighting to see who is better/more powerful while Jason and Annabeth catch up or have a tea date together (me: *starts writing jasabeth shit in my head*)
- Competitive karaoke. They have a shitload of these while both of them have mediocre voices together they sound unstoppable. THEY SING TAYLOR SWIFT SONGS A LOT THAT IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY
- No I’m not done
- ARCADE DATESSSSSSSS!!! They get super competitive about who can win the other better prizes (like for the other ykwim?). They also get generally competitive and both of them just look at each other and go ‘goddam she looks so hot when’s she’s like that’
- They send each other wholesome memes when they are away from each other and the other always replies with a key smash and a ‘gods I love you so much’ and a crying emoji
- They have one of those queer couple tik tok accs and they are like.... super famous and everyone loves them. They even have a joint acc with Jercy
- They use the 2/2/2 rule. Basically every 2 weeks they go out for a day every 2 months they take a week off and every 2 years they vacation for a month. Every two weeks they go on a picnic date, shopping, and either to a museum or library. Every two months they visit each camp alternatively or go on tiny road trips or they binge watch a show. And every 2 years they go on an international trip and explore many many mannnnnyyy different countries (look these 2 have both never really had homes other than their respective camps so they love exploring EVERYWHERE)
- ESKIMO KISSES!!!! They both take some time to adjust to being physically together and something that they both love is Eskimo kisses (nose rubs if your wondering) and they constantly give each other Eskimo kisses whether it’s... *starts blanking coz how the fuck do u explain ‘chumma’ to a non-Telugu/Tamil speaking person?!* ummm.. uhhh just to express love or chaste For those who do know what ‘chumma’ is: Eskimo kisses whether it’s just chumma or filled with love and passion
- They bring each other up whenever they can no matter what the conversation is about
And that’s it folks! Some headcanons for my favourite ship ever :D

“PaRa...the Supreme”- Music outreach in India!
The last two weeks have been packed (which is maybe why I’ve lost my voice and a currently stuck at home sick...!) A highlight from these wild weeks has been the opportunity to participate in music outreach— as many of you know, one of my favorite activities!
In 2016, my mentor Dr. Pantula Rama, founded a movement called “PaRa...the Supreme,” in which is focused on making music accessible to everyone, and teaches people about the innate spirituality behind music. The organization hosts large scale and smaller music outreach events, engages people through social media, and even lobbies lawmakers to establish music programs in public schools.
I was so lucky to be involved in a music outreach event with “PaRa,” and the organization’s 2nd anniversary celebration this past weekend. I’ve done lots of music outreach and education work in Los Angeles, and it was really inspiring to see Dr. Pantula Rama and PaRa’s work in Visakhapatnam— when I return to LA, I’d love to incorporate some of the songs and exercises she uses in her sessions into my own work!
There were 3 main sections that comprised the full day music engagement program. During the first session, Rama Madam taught the large group a simple Telugu strophic piece called “Andamu Anandamu.” It was so fun to see professional musicians, amateurs, and music lovers join together to perform! Group singing is not super common in Indian classical settings, so it was especially moving to see nearly a hundred people joined together in song.
During the next session, Rama Madam played nearly 15 clips of music from genres ranging from flamenco, to Romanian dances, to Telugu folk music, to Bon Jovi for the audience to enjoy and share their reactions. It was so powerful to see professionals and first-timers share their thoughts and feelings about familiar and new styles of music. As a researcher, I was soaking up everything audience members had to say. I really enjoyed hearing the reactions of Indian nationals to Western music, and to see what feelings they associated with Indian classical and folk music as well. Some of the most popular clips was a short Eastern European dance played by the legendary Jascha Heifetz and a folk song sung by the celebrated Telugu vocalist, Voleti Venkateswarulu.
The highlight of the day was a concert by Jalajakshi Madam, Dr. Pantula Rama’s mother-in-law. She is nearing 80 years old, but still has the voice of a young woman, and the stamina to match. It was particularly special, as her son MSN Murthy, accompanied her on the violin. It was so beautiful see mother and son play music together!

Heylo friend! For the ask: ghost and poltergeist? 😀
@hirakdesherrani Heylo Behen ! My profound apologies for the delay in answering - courtesy my exams. 😞 🙍♀️
Okay, this is going to be really difficult for a person like me, because I have been exposed to eclectic music since childhood and choosing a favourite is equal to impossible. Being a singer, I shouldn’t be using the word eclectic here because my domain doesn’t cover Western Music. I don’t sing or listen to them, and I don’t know any single western song! Unbelievable? Yeah girl, there are people like me. When my peers discuss about them, I am like MEH coz I don’t understand them and sab sar ke upar se bouncer ho jaate hain. But, it covers various languages and forms of music we have in our country, (films, semi-classical, classical, folk, ghazal, sufi, devotional…) so that should be okay?
So I am being impulsive here. Like at the moment, these songs come to my mind.
Ghost- Favorite song?
Nuvvena Na Nuvvena - (Anand,Telugu 2004)
This song’s composition is so dear to my heart. It feels fresh every time I listen to it. A simple song, which is devoid of all these software mixing kinda things.
Tu Jaa Raha Hai - (Mahek, Pankaj Udhas)
This song is so soothing. And the lyrics are just so real. Songs like this have a lot of nostalgia. We still have those tape recorder cassettes with us.
Gali mein goonjti ruswaaiyaan bhi leta jaa…Yeh taalukaat ki parchaaiyaan bhi leta jaa
Poltergeist- Favorite song lyric?
Koi Fariyaad - (Tum Bin, 2001)
This song would be a forever favourite for me. I love this movie and this song.
Jaagte Jaagte Ek Umar Kati Ho JaiseJaan Baaki Hai Magar Saans Ruki Ho Jaise
Ek Lamhein Mein Simat Aaya Hai Sadiyon Ka SafarZindagi Tez Bahut Tez Chali Ho Jaise
Thanks for asking !

#ENDVIEW LAST BISON LYRICS OFFLINE#
On the strength of a galloping acoustic rhythm, this gorgeous track from Aussie newcomer Stu Larsen transcends the lot of Queen’s subject pasty boys clogging the top of the pop charts. Talk about meta-communication, these veteran Colorado jam banders write a song about a song in their head that you can’t get out of your head. The quintessential Texican rock band didn’t exactly strike gold the way they did the first time out, but this upbeat plea for love is catchy as anything this side of “Heaven”.ģ5) Song In My Head – The String Cheese Incident Who knew a band formed in 1967 would still be cranking ‘em out with original leader Terry Adams back at the helm? This song is like a warm blanket knitted with Beatles.ģ6) It’s Just My Heart Talkin’ – Los Lonely Boys Swedish indie-rock sisters continue to channel mid sixties Pop on this stunning sophomore release. The opening harmonies had me singing this song before they even got to the bridge. You can’t have enough poison-pen odes to California, right John Murry? (#19). From the 2014 EP “Without Within”ģ9) California (Cast Iron Soul) – Jamestown Revival UK indie Beard champions create enough facial acoustics to create this beautifully shimmering ode to rebound love. Jimmer Podrasky of The Rave-Ups appears after 23 year absence, harmonicas blazing.ebut album and single from promising singer-songwriter Matthew Jordan Hemerlein had us chorus-humming a good part of the year. And it only took Laurel Canyon Radio eight albums to hear about him. North Carolina singer/songwriter sounds familiar and unique simultaneously. Who new Bryan Ferry could uncork an Avalon-era Roxy Music track this deep into 2014? Classical music would go down a lot smoother with this Virginia collective at the helm. Oh Last Bison, you had me at the first violin note. This easy-going yet wistful track will make you wonder how many Jackson Browne albums were released this year. Political charged country commentary from exactly who you would expect it from. This gospel raveup takes us to church like no Hozier could… the lead single from The Lone Bellow’s wildly anticipated 2015 release of the same name.Ĥ7) The Git Go – Willie Nelson w/Jamey Johnson Pretty and propellant folk tune.these perpetually tourers are back in LA December 12.īeck’s Grammy-bait CD is so dusted in Laurel Canyon it could have it’s own chart.Ĥ8) Then Came The Morning – The Lone Bellow
