Nope now it’s at the point that i’m shocked that people off tt don’t know what’s going down. I have no reach but i’ll sum it up anyway.

SCOTUS is hearing on the constitutionality of the ban as tiktok and creators are arguing that it is a violation of our first amendment rights to free speech, freedom of the press and freedom to assemble.

SCOTUS: tiktok bad, big security concern because china bad!

Tiktok lawyers: if china is such a concern why are you singling us out? Why not SHEIN or temu which collect far more information and are less transparent with their users?

SCOTUS (out loud): well you see we don’t like how users are communicating with each other, it’s making them more anti-american and china could disseminate pro china propaganda (get it? Tiktok as a community has chosen to collectively migrate TO a chinese owned app that is purely in Chinese out of utter spite and contempt for meta/x and the gov that is backing them.

My fyp is a mix of “i would rather mail memes to my friends than ever return to instagram reels” and “i will xerox my data to xi jinping myself i do not care i share my ss# with 5 other people anyway” and “im just getting ready for my day with my chinese made coffee maker and my Chinese made blowdryer and my chinese made clothing and listening to a podcast on my chinese made phone and get in my car running on chinese manufactured microchips but logging into a chinese social media? Too much for our gov!” etc.

So the government was scared that tiktok was creating a sense of class consciousness and tried to kill it but by doing so they sent us all to xiaohongshu. And now? Oh it’s adorable seeing this gov-manufactured divide be crossed in such a way.

This is adorable and so not what they were expecting. Im sure they were expecting a reluctant return to reels and shorts to fill the void but tiktokers said fuck that, we will forge connections across the world. Who you tell me is my enemy i will make my friend. That’s pretty damn cool.

I can’t remember if I talked about this in here but there’s this thing going on in my friend group between emo and plurinational friend and Christian friend. Christian friend says we’ve taken sides and that we break off the rest of the group, bare in mind, I no longer have all my classes with them and emo friend is not even at uni at the same time as us. P and E friends don’t care to add her into the plans the three of us made, Christian friend had some beef going with Plurinational friend because of a group project or something and she’s got beef with Emo friend because he didn’t invite her to his boyfriends birthday, which doesn’t make any sense I cause it was his boyfriend who made the list and not emo friend. As much as I love Christian friend I’ve noticed she’s not the same lately, being extra grumpy and everytime more conservative, since she’s been more and more active in church.

We were all (like all the uni friend group, not only the ones I’ve mentioned here) and I was talking about how her country has same sex marriage, which she denied (straight up lie), to which I, in a state of shock, answered that if they didn’t have marriage they at least had civil union, to which she answered that she didn’t know about that and civil unions have no validity(we are business students, we’ve taken law classes, we know this). I knew Christian friend wasn’t a big supporter of the LGBTQ community but this situation made me feel uncomfortable specially since plurinational, emo and I are quite liberal and open about our sexualities. I understand if they don’t feel comfortable having her around all the time and as much as I love her I’m not gonna invite her neither because I do enjoy the current dynamic we have as a trio.

To be clear, she was also shown careless behaviours towards emo friend and she’s shown no initiative to see us all as a group. I will be planning something for her birthday tho. I’m not loving that this is the way things went but if this is how it’s ought to be I’ll have to accept it yk, it is what it is.

"Casio Pop": The Music of 2024

It's probably the karaoke hobby, but somehow I manage to stay relatively in the loop on pop music. And I've found that this new distinct sound in pop has sprung up this year, about five years in the making, with artists like Charli xcx and Chappell Roan--and it was sort of captained by Taylor Swift, seemingly peaking with this Tortured Poets Department album of over 30 four-ish-minute tunes that are all tonally about the same.

The only way I can think to describe it is "neo-80's thrift shop Casio pop for tea spillers." It's like low-fi vapor wave cooked up with sassy drama. If you told AI to write a song with the prompt "80's supermall Miami night," I imagine you'd get something like this.

Bro my choir teacher opened up about personal things to a group of boys in our study hall who asked about it as a joke, then he actually talked about it. This boy, lets call him L. The teacher, he's Mr C.

Mr C sighs and is cleaning gum around the classroom and hes talking to L and the boys. And he says "Teachers have their crap too you know." Then the boys asked about it.

"yeah, some students were being rude and homophobic..." Mr C doesn't go too into it. He's gay for context. (It's painfully obvious)

"Who was being homophobic?" l asks. He has a tone in his voice that shows he actually cares and is angry at the homophobic student. I found this weird because L is rude to people and teases them for other things besides being LGBT. One time he was like "Is that your GIRLFRIEND?" To me. I said yes, he was like "Well she barked at me." I was laughing (my gf does it as a joke I swear)

I always assumed the cis straight white boys were always the homophobic assholes. L isn't that bad. One time he let me win in a sport because I kept fucking it up. L seems like the type of kid to be homophobic and mean but he's really not. He just hangs around with bad kids.

This also reminds me of this time I saw a very tall and intimidating kid, over 6 feet. He looked like someone who would be doing drugs in the bathroom but then I saw heartstopper 4 in his arms. Me and my friend looked over with the 'oh he's one of us' look. I completely judged a book by its cover and was shocked.
