Mirror Mavado/TR Mavado Bio
Born from two veteran Red Dragon members from Spain, Cruella and Maquiavelo. While Mavado was trained to defend himself from a young age, since unfortunately the families of Red Dragon members were constantly at risk of being exploited by the Golden Dragon against them, he always insisted that he didn’t need to become part of the clan if he didn’t wish to, offered alternatives such as being offered a fake identity and protection when he reached adulthood to live a normal life, and offered as much of a normal education as possible. After all, indoctrination was one of the aspects of the Edenian Regime Daegon wanted to distance himself the most, knowing by his own experience how horrible it was.
Unfortunately, Mavado’s father died when he was still young, giving his life in a battle against the Golden Dragon. This left both Mavado and his mother devastated. Daegon himself noted the frustration and sadness in Mavado, and could relate to the hard moment he was going through. He had also lost most of his family, after all, although the circumstances had been very different. He decided to speak with him and offered Mavado his support, thinking he could help both him and his mother deal with their loss.
With Mavado in particular, Daegon could open himself emotionally, something the demigod did more rarely than he wished. He told the young man his story so Mavado could see that he understood him, even confessed to him that he liked to see the Red Dragon as his new family. Daegon offered himself to talk with Mavado every time he needed, which he actually did every time he needed, appreciating the demigod’s help deeply. He started to consider Daegon family rather than his parents’ boss, which was especially fitting when he decided to join the Red Dragon as an adult, so he could stop the Golden Dragon from causing losses like his. With time, Mavado has grown to consider the entire clan family as much as Daegon, which made his dedication to try to stop the Golden Dragon even stronger. He also made good friends with the Black Dragon, the affiliated ally clan of the Red Dragon, as his habit to share weapons with one of its members, Kabal, is a proof of.
He eventually managed to become the Red Dragon second in command due to his incredible successes in stopping their foes, much to Daegon’s pride. With his high authority, Mavado is the Red Dragon who dedicates the most in their objective of defeating the Golden Dragon, more than Daegon himself. While Daegon understands Mavado and knows he is well-intentioned, he always tries to make him realize his dedication is dangerously close to becoming an obsession. Mavado listens to him every time and tries to take his words into account, albeit a part of him always pushes himself further to dedicate even more to his mission. Only time will say how he will reflect over this matter.
Dutiful, professional, dedicated, a snarky bastard but with a good heart. Mavado is definitely a pain in the ass for Taven and the rest of the Golden Dragon clan, much to his amusement.

Mortal Kombat Worldbuilding Ideas - Part 1: Immortals
These ideas float somewhere between headcanon and rewrite. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the worldbuilding as is (for the most part), but a few things stick out to me as things that could be more interesting. Specifically, immortals this time.
For one, establishing that immortals can't have biological children would make them a little more interesting and give some more depth to immortal characters, imo. As immortality is a status earned in one way or another, this is the price you pay for taking it.
"Then how, pray tell, do demigods exist, Gopher?" You might ask. Well, they aren't born, in this rewrite. That's right, baby, demigods can fulfill the Macbeth prophecy! They are not of woman born!
Demigods are created, not unlike a fleshpits experiment or some of Wonder Woman's origins (y'know, the one where she was a clay baby). Regardless of what the godling in progress is made of, their godly parent will then "breath life" into them by infusing them with a fragment of their own soul.
Breathing life into one of these creations slightly weakens the god in question, but it forms a bond with their offspring that can persist even after death. The bond entails different things for different gods, but typically the offspring is compelled toward loyalty to their parent and/or the goal they were created for. Which makes it very difficult to break free from their parent's control.
Specific Characters This Applies To
The obvious ones to first discuss are Taven and Daegon, Argus' sons with Delia and the brothers fated to stop Armageddon.
Delia created her sons from gold and dragon scales. This gave them innate pyromancy that they might not otherwise have. While Taven was always stronger and faster, Daegon is smarter and stronger willed. This, combined with his feelings of inferiority, compelled him to want his bond to Argus severed, even before he was awoken early.
Rain's mother dug clay from the riverbed to form her son. His aquamancy and impulsive tendencies were influenced by his beginnings at the bottom of fast flowing water. Being the youngest of the three, he is weaker still than either of his brothers. But, paired with his physical distance from Argus, it has also made his bond weaker. While Taven is happily beholden to Argus, and Daegon wishes to break free, Rain is untethered. He has the most freedom of the three.
Having three sons made Argus much weaker than he normally would be. Hence why one of said sons was capable of permakilling him, rather than simply forcing him to reform at a later date.
This last one might surprise you, but Mileena works by these rules as well. Shao Kahn isn't a god in the same way that Argus is, but he also had a powerful sorcerer on his side. (Mileena has two papas)
So Mileena isn't a demigod, but she does contain a fragment of Shao Kahn's soul. The other method of giving her life would be to simply use another full soul, but that would be more akin to resurrection than to creating a daughter for him. And it wouldn't guarantee the loyalty to the Kahn and his ideals that Mileena presents long after her father's "death". After all, Ermac broke free from that compelling force, so it wasn't simply mind control.

#gopher rambles#mortal Kombat#worldbuilding headcanons#please note: im not saying this is better. its just stuff thats been rattling around in my skull for a while.#if you wanna use these concepts for au's or something feel free. im completely unbothered#you can also probably see some of my biases showing through ehdheb

Mortal Kombat: In the end: Everything coming together.
Summary: Taven had always hoped to fight through Kahn’s fortress, ending the tyrant. Nowadays, he has a more pressing mission.
Chapter List.
Chapter List part two.
Taven exited the portal, finding himself in a new realm with a dark purple sky. Not far from him was a statue of a helmeted conqueror. Taven immediately knew he was in Outworld. The place he had always heard whispers of between his parents.
How things had changed.
“Shao Kahn’s fortress. Quan Chi must be inside. I should go.”
As he began the journey inside, avoiding the patrols of armoured guards, Taven thought back to another memory of his childhood.
------------------------------------
“Brother, are you sure this is wise?” Daegon asked his older brother as they reached the top of the mountain. His brother could often be thick-headed.
Taven overlooked the sight. The mountain had a fine view of Outworld, and Shao Kahn’s fortress.
“Don’t worry, we’ll be back before anyone notices. Look at the view.”
Daegon joined his brother at the top, taking in the view of their enemy. They heard about Outworld and Shao Kahn’s tyranny. They offered their aid, only to be refused.
“Father would execute us if he knew we were here.”
A stern yet maternal voice caught both boys’ attention.
“It is his wife you should be concerned about,” Delia countered.
Taven and Daegon immediately turned around and offered excuses. Well, Taven did.
‘Mother, a pleasure to see you here. We were just-
Daegon wasted no time in treachery. “Taven came up with this.”
Taven snapped his head to his younger brother, eyes burning a hole into his head.
“You treacherous weasel!”
Before they could launch into brotherly squabbling, Delia’s chuckle stopped them. They immediately switched to a proper posture.
“Apologies, mother. We were simply curious about Outworld. It will not happen again.”
Delia walked closer to her sons and looked over the Outworld Empire. Shao Kahn was a threat, even if Argus refused to acknowledge it.
“It is alright. So long as you stay away from the fortress. Shao Kahn is a powerful warrior, and not a threat to take lightly.”
“I bet we could take him,” Taven bragged.
Delia chuckled at her son’s confidence, placing a warm hand on Taven and Daegon’s shoulders.
“Perhaps. Now, let us return home. I’ll handle Argus.”
Daegon nodded, following after Delia as she opened a flaming portal back to Edenia. Delia noticed Taven still overlooking the sights.
“Taven, are you coming?”
“Yes, just admiring the view.”
------------------------------------
Taven pulled himself out of the memory and noticed his surroundings. He looked to be in some kind of dungeon. He heard footsteps, and hid behind a wall. He heard two voices, one a low and growling, the other vaguely seductive with its own edge of hunger.
“With that power, we will never serve anyone again,” said the male voice.
“Indeed. But Shao Kahn-
“You said it yourself, Mileena. Power is your right, and if you gain it through your own guile, then Kahn will have no choice but to respect it.”
The woman, Mileena, seemed to be considering the prospect.
“You are smarter than many give you credit, Baraka. Now go, I have business to attend while father speaks with his allies.”
Baraka left the area, and Taven watched as the woman’s shadow receded upstairs. He stood from the position and headed out.
“If Kahn is having a meeting, Quan Chi might be in attendance.”
“And who would wonder that?”
Taven looked up to find Mileena at the top of the stone steps.
“My name is Taven, and what I want is not your concern.”
Mileena chuckled, her hand drifting to a mechanism outside the entrance.
“Very well. But you intrude on my father’s dungeon, and shall be punished accordingly.”
With a pull of a lever, a gate locked Taven in the dungeon as Mileena cackled sadistically. A bell rung out across the dungeon, and the area filled with masked guards. Taven sighed, he did not have time for this.
Still, maybe he could use the time to release some pent up rage. He sliced through the dungeon guards, knocking them into lava pits until only one remained. He was shaking.
“I won’t kill you if you tell me the way out.”
The guard pointed his bladed pole to the left corridor. Taven placed a palm on his shoulder before walking off.
------------------------------------
Taven followed the path given by the guard, coming across the prison cells. One of them, an elderly man dressed in beige robes, came up to the bars and called out.
“You, stranger, you must release me!”
Taven inspected the man. He didn’t look dangerous, but that which seemed innocent could be deadly.
“How do I know you won’t attack me?”
“You have only my word. But I assure you of my innocence.”
Taven unlocked Shujinko’s cell, standing aside as the elderly warrior exited.
“Thank you, I am Shujinko.”
“Taven. Why were you imprisoned? You don’t look like a criminal.”
“I allowed myself captured to get close to Shao Kahn and his allies. Now that I am free, I can eliminate them in one fell swoop.”
Taven raised an eyebrow. This man was either stupidly overconfident or simply delirious.
“Entire realms have tried to overthrow Shao Kahn. I suggest you should leave.”
“You need not worry about me. I suggest you depart, for I cannot promise your safety.”
As Shujinko jogged down the exit, Taven was sarcastically disbelieving.
“Promise my safety? I fought this entire… Foolish old man.”
Taven continued on his way, finding a lift which he used to escape the dungeon.
“Praise the Elder Gods.”
Somehow, that felt wrong on his tongue. What had they done to help him? To help the realms?
------------------------------------
Goro was lost in thought. It had been months since Shao Kahn had saved his life. Since he had broken his oath to Kitana. He regretted that decision, and was thankful they had not yet met in battle.
Although, with what he understood was coming, it would only be a matter of time to confront his former ally.
As Goro mused on his choices, Taven attempted to sneak behind him. Goro’s booming voice caused him to pause.
“I know you are there. State your business.”
Taven turned around, holding his hands out to show his lack of aggression.
“I am not here to fight, shokan. I am looking for Quan Chi. Would you know where he is?”
Goro sighed. Quan Chi was not someone he held in high regard. He had no loyalty, no honour, and no bravery. Still, he disguised his frustration with bravado.
‘I am Prince Goro. Quan Chi is with the emperor. I have been ordered to allow none to interrupt, under penalty of death!”
Taven smirked, taking a fighting position.
“My death, or yours?”
Unlike the last Shokan Taven had fought, Goro was far more of a warrior than a brute. He use feints and powerful grapples to deliver strong punches to Taven’s face. Not only was he strong, but he was fast.
Taven dodged a punch that lodged into the wall. He could easily counter with a fireball, but he didn’t want to waste time with this fight. Goror pulled his fist from the stone, and noticed Taven’s hesitance to attack.
“Your heart is not in this.”
“Nor is yours, Goro. My task is of the upmost importance, and fighting you properly would delay it. If you would simply let me pass, I may fight you again when I am better prepared.”
Goro paused.
“Attack me.”
“What?”
“If I am still conscious after your intrusion, I will be seen as a traitor. If I am not, my disloyalty is masked with failure,” He explained, his four arms at his side to show his lack of ulterior motivations.
Taven was surprised, but enflamed his left fist as Goro spoke one more time.
“Keep in mind, should we meet again, you will not have this mercy.”
Taven nodded before delivering a powerful punch to Goro’s cheek. Goro stumbled before landing on his back. Taven noticed he was still breathing, good.
Bowing to Goro, Taven left through the large door. It seemed that even Shao Kahn’s court had honour in them.
------------------------------------
Taven’s path to Shao Kahn was fraught with dangers, fighting elite guards on his way to the next chamber of the fortress. The room included large maps on the wall, likely used for battle strategies.
Taven dodged a sword stab by a female guard, sweeping her to her feet and taking her sword in time to slice another’s from his shoulders. That was the last of them.
“I am impressed, those were elite guards,” spoke a man with chest armour, black eye markings and dark black paints. He had an air of authority, a general perhaps?
“If you say so.”
The man circled Taven as he offered his question.
“I assume you are here to kill Shao Kahn?”
“I would like to, but I am here for Quan Chi.”
At the mention of Quan Chi, the man nodded.
“I see. He is in the next room with the emperor. As much as killing him would please me, my orders are to protect Shao Kahn’s allies. I am Reiko, general of this empire. If you joined our army, you would find great use for your skills.”
Taven pretended to think about it.
“As a rule, I tend not to ally with egotistical madmen.”
Reiko seemed disappointed by the refusal.
“In that case, I will have to kill you.”
Holding out his hand, a massive great sword came to Reiko’s hand. He brandished and clashed against Taven’s own. Taven pushed the blade back and delivered a fireball before Reiko disappeared through a portal and reappeared behind to slam Taven to the ground.
Taven slammed his elbow into Reiko’s nose, pressing the attack with a flaming shoulder charge that send the general crashing into the wall. Reiko got to his knees, summoning his blade to support himself up to his feet.
“You are skilled. If I am to fail, at least it will result in Quan Chi’s demise.”
In a dark teleport, Reiko was gone. Taven did not dwell on it for much longer as he continued to the throne room.
------------------------------------
Finally arriving to his destination, Taven hid behind a wall as he listened to a meeting between figureheads. Shang Tsung, Onaga, Shao Kahn, and of course Quan Chi were in attendance.
Onaga looked to Quan Chi.
“You mentioned the brothers, are we to be concerned about them?”
“Taven is trapped in earthrealm, and Daegon is in Edenia with the rest of our allies.”
Quan Chi nodded, opening a large portal before looking to Shao Kahn on his throne.
“They will likely need a speech to rouse into battle. I will leave that to you, emperor?”
Kahn stood from his throne, marching down with no fear despite Onaga’s clear disdain.
“Do not attempt fealty. We all know the destiny of this alliance.”
All four of them looked to each other, they all knew that this alliance was out of necessity, not trust.
Onaga looked around the room, snarling at Kahn before heading to the large portal.
“Onward, to war!”
One by one, they left through the portal. Taven entered the throne room. The potal was leading to Edenia. He had to find Daegon-
“Taven, do not enter that portal.”
Taven turned his head to find Raiden. Instead of the white and blue robes, the thunder God wore black robes and dark armour, his eyes changed from a soothing blue to a belligerent red. A dark red cape was at his back, tattered but functional.
“Raiden! You look different, but I am pleased to see you. I need your help, Shao Kahn and his allies are planning something.”
“I am aware.”
Taven raised an eyebrow. If Raiden was aware, how had he not acted?
“I do not understand. You have always stood against Shao Kahn, now he plots destruction and you will not act?”
“Do not presume to understand my view, Son of Argus. Shao Kahn will not succeed.”
“And how do you know-
It was the elderly man from earlier. He noticed Raiden and seemed to be surprised by the change in appearance.
“Lord Raiden, is everything-
A blast of crimson lightning hit Shujinko’s chest, sending him sprawling to the ground. Raiden then raised his voice, admonishing the man.
“You are truly a fool to have shown yourself. It was your foolishness that returned Onaga to terrorise the realms! You have not yet paid for your crimes, and I shall make it so.”
Taven couldn’t believe what he was hearing, the few times he had interacted with Raiden showed him as a wise and patient mentor. He was compassionate and offering wisdom to when it was required. To see him so furious was… concerning.
Before Raiden could deliver his justice, Taven stood before him.
“Raiden! What has happened to you? You were always a friend to my family, and I would not want to fight you.”
Raiden’s electricity sparked from his palms, ready to be unleashed, before he made it fade.
“I do not have time for this. Do not interfere, Taven.”
Raiden vanished in a flash of light, and Taven used the opportunity to use Fujin’s gift.
“Fujin, I found Raiden in Outworld. I see what you mean by his change in temperament. Go to the sky temple, it is likely where you will find him.”
His message delivered, Taven moved over to Shujinko. The warrior seemed to have survived the blast. This old man was full of surprises.
“Are you alright?”
“Just shocked, I’ll be fine in a moment.”
Taven handed Shujinko the teleportation crystal from the netherrealm.
“Use that crystal to get somewhere safe,” Taven ordered as he headed to the portal. The portal that would finally take him home.
Home.
Was there even a home anymore? His parents were killed, Daegon was corrupted, and even Caro and Orin were not spared the devastation.
As he felt the energy of the portal envelop him, Taven could only swear vengeance upon Daegon. For all of his crimes, and how he had destroyed their family.
