तमिलनाडु सरकार ने तमिलनाडु के उन 27 जिलों में तस्माक शराब की दुकानें खोलने का आदेश दिया है जहां कोरोना वायरस का संक्रमण कम है.

  तस्माग के उद्घा��न के विरोध में भाजपा और नाटक पार्टियों की ओर से विरोध प्रदर्शन किया गया। इस संदर्भ में डीएमके गठबंधन में कांग्रेस नेता केएस अलागिरी ने तस्माक स्टोर खोलने पर टिप्पणी की है।

कांग्रेस के पूर्व अध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी के जन्मदिन के अवसर पर तमिलनाडु कांग्रेस की ओर से चेन्नई अडयार में कल्याणकारी सहायता प्रदान करने के लिए एक समारोह आयोजित किया गया। समारोह में शा��िल हुए केएस अलागिरी ने बाद में पत्रकारों से मुलाकात की। उन्होंने कहा, 'सैद्धांतिक रूप से कांग्रेस पार्टी कभी भी शराब की दुकान खोलने का समर्थन नहीं करेगी। केंद्र सरकार को कर्नाटक सरकार को मेगा ओर डैम बनाने की अनुमति नहीं देनी चाहिए। यह राजनीति नहीं है। संघीय सरकार को यह समझने की जरूरत है कि यह लाखों लोगों का जीवन है। अलागिरी ने कहा।

DMK opposes reopening liquor outlets in Chennai over fears of Covid spread

DMK President M K Stalin on Monday urged the Tamil Nadu government not to open TASMAC retail liquor outlets here from August 18, saying it would lead to further spread of coronavirus.

Opening liquor shops again was like clearing upa "big way" for the spread of the pathogen in the statecapital, he alleged in a Facebook post.

The government on Sunday said liquor outlets here, shut since March 24, would be reopened on August 18.

The DMK chief alleged that TASMAC shops in the rest of TamilNadu had a "big role" in increasing the spread of the virus.

It was "inhuman to not worry about those who may be affected by the opening of liquor stores and be concerned only about the revenue to the government," he alleged, and said the move to resume liquor sales would lead to further spread of coronavirus here. Read More

The Supreme Court on May 8, 2020 sided with the continued sale of liquor in all states through home delivery methods after seeing a huge footfall at the liquor stores. The footfall was so high that it became difficult for the people and the government to maintain the general norms of social distancing and the rules laid down by the government of not more than 5 people at the store at one point of time.

The states used various methods to reduce the footfall, like increase in the price of liquor, but hardly succeeded. Thus the supereme court had to intervene and allow home delivery of alcohol in all the states. And now, other states are also in talks with food aggregators like Swiggy and Zomato to consider more possibilities for home delivery.

1. Delhi

Go to http://www.qtoken.in and click on “Apply for Liquor Purchase Token.

2. Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu government has launched an application for home delivery of liquor. You basically have to just download the TASMAC Online App.

3. West Bengal

Log on to the website: https://excise.wb.gov.in/eRetail/Page/eRetail_Login.aspx and feed in all your details. 

4. Punjab

In Punjab, you can have alcohol home delivered, but your limit is capped at 2-litres. 

5. Chattisgarh

You need to log on to https://excise.cg.nic.in/csmcl/ or download the CSMCL Online on Google Play Store.

6. Odisha

Log on to https://osbc.co.in/Onlinepay/RetailLogin.aspx and first register yourself.

7. Maharastra

Before you get your hopes up, let us just break the bad news to you. While the Maharashtra government has allowed for the e-token system for liquor stores, these services will not be available in Mumbai, which is the worst hit Coronavirus hotspot in the entire country.

So far, only these states have allowed the selling and home delivery of liquor. More states are expected to also comply with this order.
