Day 3: Tangier to Chefchaouen
We’ll take a three-hour trek via Tetouan to reach the breathtaking Akchour waterfalls. From there, we’ll go to Chefchaouen, Morocco’s blue city. After you’ve settled into your hotel, you’ll have some free time to explore Chefchaouen at your leisure.

In addition, we’ll visit Al Bouaanania University.
Day 7: Fes to Merzouga
Merzouga is the star of our 12-day journey from Casablanca. Our journey from Fes will take us to the Upper Atlas Mountains, where we will first stop in Ifran, Morocco’s cleanest city, and photograph the Atlas Lion monument. Continuing on, we’ll visit the Cedar forest, where you can see the indigenous monkeys that live among the Atlas Mountains.
We’ll arrive to a breathtaking panoramic vista of the date palm valley later in the day. Our path will next take us via Arfoud and into the Merzouga Sahara desert. We’ll go out to see the sunset when we’ve settled into our accommodations.
Day 8: Merzouga ( Full day to explore Merzouga)
This leg of our 12-day Morocco trip from Casablanca will allow you to explore the enchantment of the Sahara. Starting with the enchanting beats of Gnaoua music in Khamlia, our tour will reveal the nomadic lifestyle. After that, we’ll go to one of Morocco’s mines, Mifis, before going off-road to meet Berber people who live in traditional tents.
After a delicious lunch, we continue on to Srij Lake and the picturesque Hassi Labied oasis. Prepare for an exciting camel ride over the Erg Chebbi dunes to Berber villages. As night falls, we’ll build a warm bonfire and listen to Berber music. Don’t pass up the opportunity to climb the dunes and look out at the magnificent Milky Way and starlit sky.
Day 9: Merzouga to Dades Gorges
This leg of our journey will take us to Boumaln Dades. Our first trip is a Berber clothing cooperative, where we can see how they dress traditionally. Following that, we’ll go to Morocco to see the stunning Todgha Gorges canyons. We’ll stop along the route to see the monkey-finger mountain formations and the mesmerizing Tisdrine bends. As the day comes to an end, we’ll take you to Dades for the night.
Day 10: Boumaln Dades to Marrakech
We’ll travel across the High Atlas Mountains today on our way to Marrakech. Our first visits are in Ouarzazate and Ait Benhaddou, which are well-known for their use as movie backdrops — scenes from films like as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia were shot here. We’ll stop at a picturesque overlook and an argan oil cooperative before continuing into the hills. Finally, we’ll arrive in Marrakech and transport you to your accommodation.
Day 11: City of Marrakech
A local guide will accompany us on our excursion to Marrakech, and we will depart from your accommodation in the morning. Our schedule includes visits to Jamaa El Fana Square, the Kotobia Mosque, and the gardens of Menara and Majorelle. We’ll also see Bahia Palace and the Tombs of Saadien. You’ll have free time in the afternoon to explore Marrakech.
Day 12: From Marrakech to Casablanca.
We’ll take the highway from Marrakech to Casablanca. You have the option of being dropped off at the airport or in the center of Casablanca. That concludes our 12-day Morocco vacation from Casablanca.

Marrakech: India Dupe
Hey everyone- I made it to another week :) Got through three of my exams and have one left tomorrow, which hopefully won’t be too bad. The IA’s for my circuits class have thankfully been super helpful.
I got back from Marrakech yesterday! Morocco may have been one of my favorite trips yet, and I’m already mentally planning to go back and visit Tangier and the desert. The city reminded me so much of India: busy streets full of motorcycles and cars, loud noise everywhere, street vendors, bartering at the market, and stray cats filling the alleys. But my favorite thing about Morocco was 100% the people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For some reason, everyone LOVED Indians. And since I went with my roommate’s Indian family, we stood out and were subsequently treated like celebrities. As we walked through the streets, people started yelling ‘Go India!’ and ‘Shar Rukh Khan!’. I don’t know the last time I laughed harder. We kept getting free things like desserts, trinkets, and spices. My roommate’s dad was networking left and right. We asked why people loved Indians so much, and they actually gave really genuine answers. People said they loved Bollywood movies, music, and culture. We found that many people knew old Bollywood songs (and would start singing them to us on multiple occasions).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most of all, I think the people there recognize similar cultures and the importance of community. At least, I did in Marrakech, which is why it reminded me so much of India. I miss the sense of community in Spain and having people from similar cultural backgrounds to relate to. I also definitely missed food with spices. The food there was unbelievable. I realize I want to start traveling less around Europe and more in Africa, Asia, and South America. I haven’t had the chance to explore those continents as much as Europe, and I will for sure set my sights on them after this period of studying abroad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, seeing my roommate with her family made me miss mine :/ So I’m excited for my sister to come in a week and then see my parents in two weeks! Check back in next week!

I do tourist tours in Morocco; I would like to have more customers, especially from the United States; Latin America and Asia.
Morocco Trip
Morocco has been the most magical trip I’ve had so far. It’s special in many ways and no doubt will now forever hold a special place in me. We started with Marrakech and made our way up to Fez via the Sahara Desert, then made it to Chefchaouen and lastly Tangier. It’s been an absolute journey, to say the least. Following part 1, part 2, and part 3 of this series, we’ve now come to the last leg of this trip at Chefchaouen and Tangier.
Chefchaouen (1 Day)
Very often, Instagram and reality don’t match up. But Chefchaouen was one of the rare ones that lived up exactly to Instagram expectations. In fact, it has actually become my most favourite city of the trip. It’s not just the different shades of blue at every corner, but also its vibe, the intimate setting of the medina, and its stunning landscape that took my breath away.
Morocco continued to amaze me as Chefchaouen was vastly different from Marrakech and Fez. Each city has its own unique charm and this one spoke the most to me. It was simply impossible to not love Chefchaouen.
Barrage El Wahda
From Fez, it’s a scenic ride towards the famous blue city of Chefchaouen. Over the three-hour ride, we made a brief stop at the Barrage El Wahda, which is the largest dam of Morocco and second-largest in all of Africa.
Once we arrived, we first checked into our hotel, Residence Hoteliere Chez Aziz, before wandering off to explore. The main difference of Chefchaouen’s medina versus both Marrakech and Fez’s is that it’s not as packed and much more chilled! Instead of being haggled left, right, and center, you can totally just stroll around in peace at Chefchaouen.
Every corner was literally in this pretty shade of blue and highly Instagrammable. Literally, I couldn’t stop clicking my camera for every step and my camera roll just ended up full of blue photos!
Whilst I bookmarked this background on my Instagram, we weren’t particularly set on finding it. Honestly, the random streets etc were all picturesque enough that I really didn’t care about chasing after any specific photo spots. But we completely stumbled across this one by accident. You do have to pay a small fee to take pictures – it’s got props and everything nicely set up for you. Worth it though!
Apart from the pretty blues, another thing I love about Chefchaouen was the easy navigation. After Marrakech and Fez, it felt so good to not have to strain our brains for direction. It’s not as big as the medinas of Marrakech & Fez’s too so even if you do get lost, it’s much easier to find your way again.
Might I also add that food was significantly cheaper at Chefchaouen as well? We popped by a random restaurant we walked past in the medina and it’s so cheap that we went with an extra chicken tagine after having a full meal.
The Spanish Mosque

Remember the couple we met in Fez mentioned in the last post? They had just come from Chefchaouen so we asked for a few recommendations from there. The number one recommendation from them both was the Spanish Mosque.
The Spanish Mosque is situated at a hilltop of the city right outside the medina. Following the main flow of tourists, we managed to find the pretty waterfall and the little trail up to the hilltop. By the time we reached there, it was the perfect golden hour. In addition to that, there were a few hippie-looking locals giving a little music performance there. We danced to the music for a bit, swayed and twirled around whilst bathed in the golden rays of the sunset. The sunset was gorgeous and the view was absolutely breathtaking.
It was right this moment that Chefchaouen has completely stolen my heart.
Plaza Uta el-Hammam
Coming down from the Spanish Mosque and weaving through the medina once again, we found ourselves following the cobbled streets and arrived at the main square of Chefchaouen, named Plaza Uta el-Hammam.
The square was lined with cafes and restaurants. Since it’s near dinner time, it was buzzing and it reminded me of Mediterranean vibes. We picked a random spot for dinner. Unfortunately, the food was a bit underwhelming which I’m not going to mention more of it here.
Tangier (1 Day – unplanned)
We stayed overnight at Chefchaouen and planned to make our way to the Tangier airport early in the morning to fly back to London. Our hotel kindly arranged a taxi for us to get to the airport.
As we arrived at Tangier, unfortunately, we were informed that our flight was delayed for at least 8 hours (turned out to be 12 in the end). With all the free time on hand, we dropped our luggage at the airport and had an impromptu unplanned time exploring a little of Tangier.
Day 9
Masjid Al-Minaa
After some quick lunch, we first wandered off towards the port and it’s unmissable to see the Masjid Al-Minaa. The mosque was an absolutely spectacular sight, featuring a striking white-and-gold facade with its golden arches glistening under the sunlight.
Kasbah
All in all, Tangier was a pretty chilled city – not as hectic as both Marrakech & Fez, and no crazy narrow mazes. We didn’t do a huge amount, given we’re totally unprepared for this city. Moreover, we were certainly starting to feel rather tired of constantly being on the go for the last week. So, eventually, we grabbed a cab back to the airport, waited for even longer due to delays, and finally came home to London.
Just like that, our 9-Day Morocco Trip has come to an end. For all the places I’ve travelled to so far, Morocco has really left an impression on me and it’s been a truly unique experience that I could never forget. If you haven’t been to Morocco before, I highly recommend you to add this on your travel list!

The fact I never did a blog about this kills me. Because there was some crazy shit that went down... as always. But here we are, 3 years later post global pandemic and online teaching 💀 Home girl NEEDS this current vacation. Anyways currently sitting here in Vegas with Monica and I needed to get this up for myself than for anyone to read… #memories and whatnot.
Monica and I did a 5 week trip to Spain and Morocco. I HONEST TO GOD thought this trip was going to be normal. We were older, safe and sane, & not out doin’ risky shit like we use to. All was pretty uneventful the first two weeks in Spain. We drank a pitcher or two of sangria a day, ate, napped for siesta... and anyone thats read from while I was in Thailand knows that is Monica’s specialty 😂, went to see some floating Jesus for Monica, and that’s pretty much it. The men are 🔥, the sangria is perfect, and country wide afternoon nap time is good for the soul. 10/10 would recommend Spain.
The words “Damn Monica look at us having a safe and sane vacation like responsible adults” even left my mouth at one point. We were so proud. Mom was proud I wasn’t out doing hood rat stuff. But then came our last day in Spain. I knew it was all too good to be true...
We stayed in a port town called Tarifa. Although we both had big girl jobs at this point, we still kept it cheap and took the ferry to Tangier in Morocco rather than fly. The night at our hotel set the tone for the rest of the trip. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. I panicked and jumped out of bed because I wasn’t about to burn, meanwhile this bitch Monica leisurely gets up, walks to the sink, puts her sweatshirt on and starts washing her face. WASHING HER FREAKING FACE!! WTF!? I actually yelled at her and got her butt out. Thank god it was a false alarm. But moral of the story Monica would have let us burn to wash her face 😑
The ferry was mistake #1. I took Dramamine and Monica didn’t want to. You get one guess who spent the entire ferry ride throwing up in a sink.
Now I’ve only ever thought I was about to be snatched once while traveling. It was in Cambodia with Monica and our psycho drugged out tuk tuk driver. I can add our first day in Morocco as the second time.
For whatever reason Morocco doesn’t let you get money before entering the country like other places. You need to get it from ATM’s at the airport upon arrival. But we chose the cheap route (never again and this lesson will come back to haunt me later... 🐫) and came on the ferry. We asked where we could get $ and they said they had lots of ATM machines outside of the building. Well surprise surprise we didn’t see any. We stood there with no money or phone service stranded wondering what we would do.
Then, out of no where, a man came up and asked us if we wanted to get money and told us to follow him. He led us to a row of windowless rape vans like you see on Criminal Minds and told us the ATM and money exchange was inside. Should I have gone in? No. Did I? Yes. Just when I thought I chose the safe and sane life in Spain it all went out the window. As soon as they opened the back doors sure enough there was a little ATM and a man with a table. Still leery I get in and they slam the doors right behind me. At this point I thought “God damn, really! After all that I’ve gotten myself into this is how I’m being taken out!?” But all went well and I got our money.
After the creepy $ situation, we got a random Chefchaouen and it was everything I wanted it to be. It was blue. It was pretty. We were even offered cocaine instead of the crepes we wanted our first night, and Monica made my fat butt hike up a steep hill TWICE in sandals. But that hike up was so worth it watching those sunsets overlooking the city and hearing the call to prayer. Monica 1, Meghan 0.
After Chefchaouen we headed to Marrakech. I wanted all the rugs, all the vases, tiles, baskets, purses. Honestly I was the equivalent to what the grinch looks like as he’s collecting all the Christmas shit from Whoville. Put it in my bag I’ll give you all the $$. We also stayed in the best boutique hotel. Monica wasn’t a fan until we walked in and settled ourselves. Monica 1, Meghan 1.
I straight up threw down those dollars in Marrakech. I didn’t work all those night classes for nothing! I texted a random guy who sold rugs that I found from someone online. Again... another risky choice but I wanted some damn rugs! Monica was pissed I’d text and leave with a random person for rugs but I was determined and dragged her off with me. Jokes on her because he was so nice, gave us mint tea, and let me live all my Moroccan rug dreams. I got 4. Did I need 4? Hell no! BUUUT did I want 4? Yes.
Shout out to my mom for putting up with my crap and letting me ship and store those babies at her house 😏. FYI they look fab in my new house.
Now there wasn’t anything else to report until the very end of our trip. This is when the “cheap route” reared its ugly head again. Monica is no longer allowed to plan excursions. Ever. 🙅🏽‍♀️ You get what you pay for.
We did a desert camping experience and took a random van 15 hours into the Sahara desert. The entire ride was sketch as usual, and they eventually dropped us off at a hotel for the night. The next day we had to give our room up and sat outside in 130° weather until our evening camel ride into the desert. My camel was NOT cooperating and it took me forever to get on. Monica was last to load up because she started crying and didn’t want to get on because “she could tell her camel didn’t want to go.” So she suggested she’d walk there… the entire 2 1/2 hour trip. The guides looked at her like she was crazy and said no and forced her on anyways. I heard her crying for a good 15 minutes before she was fine and wanted a picture.
My camel ride was 🙅🏽‍♀️. The blankets weren’t tied and my saddle was a triangle piece of wood that kept slipping off. Sitting slanted on a triangle piece of wood for almost 3 hours on a camel is the worst.
Once we got to the camp we had to walk through piles of camel poop to eat dinner in the dark. Also, no warning to us before hand, but our camp didn’t have a water bin or bottles so your girl was waterless in the Sahara desert 🥵. The bed sheets also had me shook to the core… not washed, probably ever, as there was a BODY PRINT STAIN you could see!
Despite the nastiness, the stars were pretty, we climbed to the top of the sand dunes, and I watched the sunrise because I refused to lay down on that bed.
At this point I was tired, dehydrated, and just wanted to get back. Monica still didn’t want to ride the camels (she was in her vegan phase this trip) and said she told them we’d pay to take ATVs. I used the last of $ I had left to do so, and we waited for them to arrive while everyone else loaded back up on camels.
This is where things got weird. We were left with two guys that helped run the camp. One started playing drums for us while the other just sat and glared the entire time. He eventually told us he didn’t like America’s, said we shouldn’t take pictures, and then plot twist he wanted to add us on Facebook. Shout out to Sayed for giving us creepy predator vibes.
Once the ATVs came, we got on and went on our way. While Monica took off nice and slow happy as can be, my guy guns it! I literally held on for dear life the entire 30 min ride back. He’d speed up while we’d go down the sand dunes and our ATV would literally hover down! I don’t remember anything, it all went black, and I almost died.
Once we got back to the hotel Monica was crying and told me it was because of how beautiful the sunrise was on our ride back. She asked if I saw it, but Girl NO I DID NOT because I was trying to hold on and make sure me and my backpack weren’t left in the dust.
We took a shower with a single small stream of water and then took another bus 15 hours back into Marrakech. I was next to a kid that threw up the entire time. No food, no water because I was out of money.
Now if you’ve made it this far bless you. This was the end of our trip and I ended it with picking up some bug that had me SIIIIICK the rest of the two days and entire flight home.
Which brings us to today, exactly 3 years later, and 2 canceled trips back to Thailand thanks to COVID. This road trip will be fun though! Here’s to being on home turf, accident free, not taking the cheap way out, and being responsible.
❤️ Love from Vegas 🇺🇸
