This is something I honestly want to ask FGO fans if they’re still playing - what would it take (if anything) for you to stop playing the game? Like what would be your absolute line in the sand. Or will you keep playing until EoS? I’m not asking this to proselytize, I’m genuinely curious. These are some recent events: There’s the addition of Wandjina as a character you can gamble for in the gacha, which you can see people discussing here in the FGO tag. Right before this there was yet another little girl added with a highly sexualized outfit, chloe (summer). In the summer event they even took the time to draw a giant version of her stomping through town so the fans could look up her microbikini bottoms. She was preceded by Nero-Draco whose second ascension is a little girl in another tiny micro-bikini. The designers and animators made sure the first ascension dress had huge slits in it so you can see those tiny strips of fabric covering her body when she makes any type of movement. Her third, adult ascension is completely locked behind the completion of a limited time event. Anyone who plays that missed it and don’t have her will default see her on their friends list in the second ascension. This is also the one that is advertised in the gacha banners. These two characters join multiple other little girls in fetishwear the game had added over time, to say nothing of the many pandering craft essences as well.

Before Nero Draco, the game advertised its newest Ordeal Call chapter with an animated commercial that included a scene created with AI. In the chapter itself they gave us a whitewashed Rani.

Before AI Ordeal Call, there was Lostbelt 7. The 3 summonable servants on the “Latin American Lostbelt” were all white: Tezcatlipoca, Kukulkan and Tenochitlan. There were 2 NPCs with darker skin (tbh optics are not great labeling the darkest skinned npc a “Beast” when you think about it), and every single other NPC in the chapter was a dinosaur or an “Ocelomeh” - ape-men wearing jaguar masks that the player cannot understand.

For the anniversary, the game’s “QoL update” was a brand new way to give them money- another paid gacha banner. The “secret” update the NA server got was also another paid gacha banner.

Again these are just recent things I’ve seen people stop playing over, of course in the game’s older events there’s things like the emiya alter design & tamamocat line for him in seraph, agartha chapter, Boudicca interlude etc. This isn’t a callout or anything, the descriptions above are because I wanted to add context with what’s happened in the game recently. I’m just genuinely curious if you’re still playing after the type of content they’ve put out, is there anything FGO could do to legitimately make you stop?

listening to fgo lines starting with my most grailed servants and I'm thinking of several things atm:

god I used to be so sad whenever one of the Heroic Spirits got defeated in battle and had to say their incapacitated lines...

Arjuna's vocal range...like I love how soft his voice can get, but also when his tone hardens and becomes more serious/strict sounding it's also really cool (esp for his battle lines!!) He's also so polite usually and I love that aspect of him sm too

Also Arjuna's birthday line is still very like...god yeah I Get Where He's Coming From as a fellow Asian kid who was also taught to respect my elders asjdkgh. He and I can handshake emoji on that!

Also!! His lines for his Anniversary Outfit...he just sounds so much more carefree?? And all the talk of training really emphasize his dedication to improving himself asjdkgh his brothers (and a lot of people who were close to him in life tbh) would be proud!!

David's voice briefly dips closer to NakaYuu's usual range for his line for Tamamocat and I got a little 😳 I wish he had more lines that dipped into that particular range more bc it's such an interesting and cool change from his usual pitch

Genuinely cannot wait for David's recent voiceline update to reach NA, I want to be able to listen to his post-Solomon Bond Levels 4 and 5 lines more freely

(Also remembering the unexplored aspects of some of his voicelines...orz....Fate pls, I want to know more about what he thinks of his time as king!!)

(...I say, as if I haven't had a billion headcanons both from reading other David fans' takes and coming up with my own via reading outside of Fate)

First and Second Ascension Oberon's voice really adds to why he can be perceived as trustworthy before the reveal in-story -- he just sounds?? really friendly (if a bit playful as befitting his 'role' as a Faerie King) even in his battle lines

(Also Oberon's extra attack lines in his early two ascensions are so playfully hammy asdjgkh)

All that said though, relistening to his lines in Third Ascension...it's actually both a notable contrast to earlier Ascensions' but also still sounds like the same character?? Which is pretty impressive honestly

His third skill line in Third Ascension is...really something else huh (I'm sure other Oberon fans would probably have something more to say about that though)

so i finally read lb6

kinoko nasu, you've done it again. i loved it. i had so much fun, i almost wished it didn't have to end just yet. after olympus turned out a bit more disappointingly than i had expected, and after heiankyo had picked up the pace a little bit, i'm really happy that this chapter had such an impact for me.

and now it's over, for better or worse. but i had fun and i wanted to write down some thoughts.

spoilers for the whole chapter, but here's some general thoughts and scattered review;

visual novel properties;

really, really good. the backgrounds, ost and animation effects. the mors curse effect was eerie and i liked all of the animated scenes in the story. one thing that could've been improved on was that there could've been a few more npc fairy variants as some scenes had the same npc art with dialogue. same with the roman and french human soldiers. the ost callbacks (fuyuki ost for grímr appearance, bb channel - dark mix - for murian torturing the boys) were fun.

the ost;

bangers. really great. i loved the second map theme a lot and the battle osts were great (wish i heard more of baobhan siths, rip queen). thematically appropriate, memorable, leaving lasting impression.

battle content;

mob battles were fine, they didn't feel unnecessary or too out of place, except the nightly tamamocat appearances.

forced supports were apparently a pretty disliked part about this chapter, and while i don't think of it as that big of an issue, i can see why people would think that.

there were some odd choices (for example, da vinci+artoria as forced support against baobhan sith when every character was present) and i think most mob battles could've been without those supports. as someone who always tries to max out bond, it was a bit frustrating, but also allowed me to play more 5-stars with the cost being lower. though i think super kyrielight mash should give the 20% bond bonus if she's forced support, no reason not to.

overall, the forced supports didn't hinder me much, and i like artoria presence in the battles as you see her growth through the story.

the difficulty was as expected, nothing too dissimilar from olympus. my least fave boss fight was morgans, it was just frustrating spam and didn't feel challenging the same way the others did. albion was probably one of my fave ones, i liked the mechanic.

story;

the fucking. fairies.

i mean, i loved the story and the setup. the slowly unveiling horror of britain, the fragmented narrative split between two perspectives, the side narrative of love.

the story really hammered in the pain of being a viewer and a bystander, how you can't change it no matter how much you'd want to. i really ended up liking morgan more than i would've assumed, and the nature of death was so cruel. because it felt preventable, unnecessary, like it was one misstep that caused these faeries to lose all faith.

and the fairies. what is there to say.

the most selfish, the most pure, the most obstinate, the most sinful, lacking in understanding, love, reading comprehension.

it'd be easy to hate them, but there's also faeries who tried to do the right thing, tried to atone and tried to change, so i find it challenging to dismiss all of them.

at first i thought morgan was just cold by nature, but she really didn't have a choice when it came to her subjects. they could've never understood her, and she did so much for them.

she was also fairy-like with her ways of trying to imitate the britain and camelot of proper human history, even when it was at odds with the fairy britain by nature.

there's a twisted satisfaction of seeing someone defy their fate and take matters into their own hands after the correct path causes so much grief. it doesn't have to be this way, is true but unfortunately it devolved into it can't be stay this way.

i also, of course, loved artoria caster. getting to know her and understand her. it's been said before, but seeing the cowardly, weak, anxious, hardworking, airheaded, selfless artoria push through. despite everything, the noise, the winter, the autumn, the knowledge of what's at the end. it's heartbreaking, it's delightful, it's everything.

she was ready to give up at any moment, she really didn't believe in herself, she was thinking about running away. compared phh artoria who shouldered all of the worries of her countrymen despite it leading to ruin, artoria caster feels so humanly relatable. unsure of anything, her own motivations, the legibility of the prophecy, she struggles on until she's ready to do what's expected of her. and artoria caster does it, despite how hard and painful it is, she's quick to cheer up after falling down.

and then she's gone. you can never really meet her, the one you travelled with, the one who was hanging onto one ridiculous hope. it's painful, yet joyful, she's free of suffering but we can never meet again.

and it's the kind of closure i think a lot of previous lostbelt acquaintances have been missing, the finality of it all. even if you summon the servant artoria caster, she's not coming back. and that's really wonderful. for her.

Well, while Kiomi loves all animals in general (show her an animal and she’ll want to keep it), her favorite animal would be anything cat and anything snake. Anything that falls under those two categories instantly get her affection. So it’s not just limited to your domesticated or feral felines or danger noodles serpents; this also extends to monsters and other creatures that are closely related to them/reminds her of them. And for this reason, she's gonna want to punch people who try to hurt Kagetora or Douman.

dhsfkhskfh Thank you~ I was practicing drawing non human things and it just popped in my head. And it felt like a good time to show her adoration for animals in the extremes.
